Default Great Hall

Rain or shine, the Great Hall continues to be the hub of the school. Four long tables, one for each House as defined by the banners floating above them, are stationed in the enormous room facing the raised table reserved for the school staff. Already placed on the tables are silver plates with accompanying cutlery and goblets. Mountains of food and pitchers containing your favourite beverages are at your fingertips.

Whether you arrived for breakfast, lunch, or dinner on time or late, feel free to dig in as the headmaster has no speech to give. Keep yourself preoccupied by catching up with your fellow housemates or those who are visiting from the other tables while sink your teeth into the hearty and delicious meal prepared by the house-elves. Just remember to display proper eating etiquette and don't get any funny ideas. Food is to be eaten, not thrown across the dining room. Wasting food will come at a price that you will not like to pay.

A quick scan of the hall to see if she was there yet, the first year didn't hesitate to make his way over to the Slytherin table as if it was perfectly normal. (which to be frank, it probably WAS normal since other than the opening feast, Apollo made every effort to sit here instead of his own house table because best friend).

Plopping down next to her, he frowned. "How could you eat at a time like this?" and yet, as he uttered the words, his stomach grumbled.
Bella had just spread strawberry jam on a second piece of toast that she was ready to devour when her best friend in the whole wide wiz world plopped down in the seat next to her with a frown. She didn't reply right way, she waited until she had downed a mouthful of fresh pumpkin juice before she turned her blue eyes on her BFF with a quiet comment. "If we pass out for not eating Apollo it will only give the hooded dudes another reason why they should hate us and punish us. I don't want to give them that satisfaction so i'm eating." Besides Bella was in enough trouble with having house elves duties to perform before and after classes for the rest of the week so she needed to keep her strength up. Hearing Apollo's stomach grumble Bella did her best to hide a smile as she pushed the bread basket his way. "Come on eat. I can hear how hungry you are."

It was safe to say that it was becoming increasingly obvious that Gabi was NOT a good chess player. She kept trying to figure out the best moves to keep all her pieces in play - and she kept getting outsmarted by him. Still, she had her king - that was to say, the students were alive - and that was all she was playing for at the moment. If all her pawns and rooks and knights got swept up while she was defending him well....that was just how it was going to be. She'd accepted it.

That still didn't stop her from trying to make some smart moves - even if it didn't pan out the way she wanted.

"You can't very well convince them to join your cause if you're murdering half the student population every time they do something you don't like," she reminded him, trying from a different angle. "It's barely been four months...you might find them more receptive to your cause if you gave them more time to accept the ideas," she pointed out. She knew from her previous experience with cults that radicalization took time - and wiping out an entire generation of witches and wizards was hardly good for long term recruitment. If he wanted to be practical about it.

"They hate chores. They're spoiled brats," she said with a shrug, hoping her lie was convincing enough. "And you should have heard them fight me on it before your squad got there. Camilo can attest that they were NOT pleased with the situation," she added. It wasn't a TOTAL lie. They HAD been rather snarky about it all - but for different reasons of course.

Her facade dropped quickly, however, when she looked down at the mirror he held in his hand - gasping and dropping her utensils loudly. TRENT?! But...she had assumed the worst. She thought for sure he was dead. Yet here he was, alive but barely...or was it all a trick? Was it just a rouse to get her to let her guard down? Was he using him as leverage?

"Malachi?? But..." she paused, reminding herself to remain calm. "Why are you showing me this?" she asked quietly.

Violet sat crowded to the very far end of one of the Slytherin benches, stoically and methodically eating her dinner--she would be blasted before she allowed herself to be pushed off. She hadn't ridden all those horrid Muggle subways in New York year before last for nothing--she had hated it, but it had taught her the fine art of obstructing space while seeming entirely oblivious and innocent that someone else was pushing on you.

Glancing up at the Head Table to see if anything (potentially bad) was going on, she was just in time to see Professor Recard's face go suddenly pale--what was Rosier saying to her to make her look like that?

Lucien replaced the mirror in his pocket then began methodically cutting into his meat. He fed himself a forkful, chewing thoughtfully as he looked out to the rest of the Great Hall. Only after swallowing did he address the woman again. "You still don't get it, do you? These are underage, undereducated children. I don't need them for anything expect target practice and leverage." So no, he was not trying to bring anyone over to his cause and did not think the threats thus far had been swaying them.

"Those who want to join us already have. And I trust you'll find my men to be enough--most of them can cast a decent fire spell. We're creating a new world, those who cannot adapt cannot survive." Most of these children had proven they had no intention of surviving. "So I'm not surprised they protest. They're lazy. THINKING is too much work for them. That doesn't mean you did a good job." In case she'd honestly been patting herself on the back for such a pathetic display of discipline.

Again, he worked at his meat.

"I have many other mirrors like the one you've just seen. Quite a few of them are in your size. Look around you, Recard. My army is growing. At this point, it may be easier to slip you into one anyway and have one of this bumbling ruffians take your job. They wouldn't be as gentle with the children, but they would do as they're told."

Was she getting his drift?

He didn't know what they were discussing, but from the look of Recard's face, Apollo was sure it wasn't good. "Think we can take our dinner elsewhere? The great hall is feeling quite crowded" Surely she felt it and didn't care for their company either. The poor mannerisms really did create a loss of appetite.

Violet was chewing one of the last few bites of her food, looking over the Hall and considering the possibilities of successfully managing to poison the entire bunch of Neo-Alliance goons. She had just come to the conclusion that she probably could do it, but not without getting caught. Then she mentally shook herself--she could never really hurt anyone, she knew that, not seriously, no matter how disgusting and horrid they were. Just then, the stranger next to her jabbed her in the ribs with his elbow, hard, and suddenly Violet wasn't so sure...

Who ate just potatoes for dinner? Didn't you usually have meatballs or sausages with it? Bella usually would have eye rolled and asked if it had been someone other than her bestie. Now she just glanced sideways at him with slight confusion as Apollo edged closer and closer to her on the bench. If Bella had to guess it had to do with the gang of adults that had shoved their way onto the snake bench and were shoving food without manners into their mouths like they had never seen food before. Watching made her feel a little nauseous so she dragged her gaze up to the staff dias where her head of house was conversing with headmaster Rosier. Professor Recard didn't look very happy so was more trouble coming?

Turning her attention back onto her bestie she nodded after a second look at the adults. "Sure, we can go eat dinner somewhere else. How do we get all the food and drink with us though?" And more importantly where could they go to not be seen by the hooded men?

Was she getting his drift?
If Gabi was being argumentative, she could point out that these underage children were going to be the next generation of his new world - assuming he ever got there. If she had her way, that wouldn't ever become a reality. But it was clear now that using her words was not going to get her out of this.

Wait...Trent was IN the MIRROR?! She'd assumed it was a 2 way and he showed her Trent who was being hidden away somewhere...but apparently, his prison was the mirror itself. One thing was certain - if she was trapped in a mirror, there would be no healer to aid in the children if they faced the wraith of the Inquisitorial Squad. She couldn't let that happen, even if it meant putting on an act for Rosier.

This whole situation was just...awful. There was no other way around it.

"I understand. I will not fail you again," she said softly, looking back down at her meat and stabbing it with the fork in frustration.

follow me; everything is all right.

The Great Hall appears unrecognizable. Once a place of great jubilation, is overwhelmed by somber unrest. Tables have been pushed to the edges of the large room to make a clearing for the injured. One side of the hall has been designated for the dead.

Though the battle is far from over, the injured are already occupying most of the space on the floor.

The sky overhead is dark and moody. From the windows you can see an array of colourful spells. Blasts can be heard coming from every direction.

OOC Note: The timeline here is well into the battle.

KAISER: ORDER OF THE PHOENIX
It had not taken long for the subtle thump in Kaiser's head to increase once again to a harsh, cleaving pain that was impossible to ignore. And yet he seemed to be doing exactly that; just looking at him, it was difficult to know he was feeling much of anything. Other than the slight squinting that accompanied his headaches - a sign best known by those closest to him - there was nothing other than, maybe, a stubborn but subtle expression of determination, and slightly glazed eyes.

Kaiser had not stopped. Not since he'd apparated (something he'd been told in no uncertain terms not to do) up to Scotland and joined the march to the castle. He'd walked, sprinted, briefly duelled, and sprinted some more, until he'd found himself in the Great Hall, a makeshift triage area. The Great Hall. Hogwarts. And yet it felt like somewhere else entirely; he could not connect the Hogwarts he had known to the building he was standing in, even though they were clearly the same place. Perhaps that was for the best.

Since then, he'd been back and forth. Out into the fighting, moving through the spells, sometimes firing off his own, running on autopilot until he found someone who needed to be brought back for healing. Or maybe someone who had lost their fight, and needed to be moved to a quiet place. Back to the Great Hall he would bring them, and out again. As long as he did this, those more skilled than him could help the kids, and fight the Neo-Alliance, and Charles would... Charles might...

Time was meaningless; Kaiser could have been doing this for minutes, hours, or days. It didn't matter, he only knew he had to keep moving. Had to keep doing something. Had to help in some way. Go out. Find someone. Bring them back to the healers, or that more silent and still side of the Hall. He didn't want to stop. If he stopped moving, he might start to think, and then really process what was going on here, and who he might never see again, and who might never see him again. Kaiser couldn't be sure of who he'd seen or spoken to that night, or much of anything that had happened around him, but he was vaguely aware of several close calls with bright jets of magic. Every time he started to entertain any sort of memory, any time he thought of the name or face of a person he cared about, his mind cut them off, the dissociation stepped up a gear, and he redoubled his focus on the practical job at hand.

But as much as he wanted to, Kaiser could not keep moving forever. As he moved back towards the door for another trip, a particularly loud blast rang out. Kaiser stopped, clumsily diverted to the wall beside the doors, placed a hand on the stone to brace himself, squeezed his eyes shut, and willed himself not to throw up.

Maybe he could get something for this headache. Maybe that wouldn't be taking too much from those in real need.

... Or maybe it would?

be curious, not judgmental

MAXIMUS JAMES: ORDER ALIGNED

While his wife had quite literally led the charge upon the castle of Aurors and Order-aligned, Maximus James did not share her unabashed courage to take such a leadership role and, frankly, he was unlikely to be able to keep up on the front lines with her. His objective was to take a defensive approach to keep their side alive, do what he could to help those injured, and ultimately, hopefully find their kids safe and sound.

There were students alongside the adults fighting along the way, and Max had kept his eyes peeled for any sign of the twins on the physically-, mentally-, and emotionally-draining trek up to the castle. All the students he'd seen were older - couldn't have been younger than Phoebe and Teddy - so he prayed to Merlin that Kizzy was somewhere safe, and hopefully the three of them were sticking together.

On the way, he also hadn't been able to get a glimpse of Vivi in the fray, but he reasoned that was a good thing, and it further solidified his decision to help with those in what had become the makeshift triage area. If she was hurt, he'd know, then. But for now, no news was good news.

While Max wasn't a professional healer, he was adept at defensive spells and was quite capable of helping people from the grounds to the Great Hall and being a reassuring presence to those in need. Sometimes it just helped to not be alone, especially in a room where so many people were horribly suffering and scared. He wasn't alone in that mission, and he gave respectful nods and reassuring looks to those who had taken it upon themselves to help in this way, too, any time he passed them.

Upon helping another wounded get the attention they needed, his focus shot to the door at the loud bang, unsettled by how close to the Great Hall it was, and watched one of his likeminded comrades (Kaiser) stumbling into the wall, visibly in some sort of agony. Max rushed to him, a hand instinctively coming to rest on the man's back as if to steady him. "Hey, hey, hey, I've got you." Sort of. More gently, he offered, "What do you need?" Was he hurt? Did he need to lay down?

OOC: Carmine Beryl, also order adjacent, but more importantly mama of some order members and also students, and healer.

Healer Beryl had compartmentalized her feelings and rolled the sleeves of her St Mungos robes up, immediately focusing on her job rather than worry about the minutiae of the battle brewing outside the heavy doors of the Great Hall.

She had done her part setting up and it had been mere moments after her own arrival that the first waves of injured began arriving. After that there was no mental room to imagine what fighting was happening outside the Great Hall - her whole life were the dozens of life or death battles happening right here.

She looked up just in time to see one of the helpers, Max James, who had been invaluable getting the newly arrived injured settled and prioritized for the healers to help, assisting a familiar young face. Kaiser had been a student of hers, and one she had taken a special interest in during her time at Hogwarts, and now he was one of her own son's closest friends.

She had seen him come to help too of course, knew he was doing Mungo's own work, ferrying the injured back and forward to be seen, but now he was clearly unsteady on his feet and not himself at all. The timing was just so that she had finished with a patient, giving them a dreamless sleep potion, and so she made her way over to the pair.

"Kaiser." She said soothingly, studying the young man. The glazed look suggested a head injury. "Now what have you done to yourself? A concussion?" They could be serious than most people assumed, not just a headache at all, but potentially more insidious.

ooc: Charlotte Whittebrook, Order aligned healer and duel enthusiast, if your charrie is dead or injured and you'd like them/their body to be fetched, poke me!

Had it been hours? Days? She hadn't stopped, not for a second. Charlotte Whittebrook, née Kettleburn was here. Years ago, the former Gryffindor would have jumped into the thick of the battle, using her duelling prowess to her benefit, but now as a mother of three and a healer, her priorities had changed. Rather than staying in the Great Hall, she was back and forward, ferrying the injured from the battlefield away to relative safety.

Field medic vibes.

It was, in a way, the best of both worlds -making the most of her best skills, as well as the worst of it -because she certainly had needed to be ruthless in her own attacks just to get people through, and that meant causing pain to the other side, even as she did her best to help her own.

She fetched bodies too when there were no injured. Charlotte brought the dead, and tenderly lay them down to one side and covering their faces with as much love and compassion as possible.

Every single one? Every single one of the dead? Charlotte spoke to, nothing in depth, nothing extreme, but with so much sincerity. "Thank you."

And then she was again running off to see who else she could help, determined and tireless.

Vanessa the Snot Girl l Rachels Rule | rock, tumble,&roll ❆ adorable coffee bean

Even getting to the great hall had been chaos, and dangerous, but she'd gotten here. Vanessa Paton's duelling skills were a little rusty, which was exactly why she was heading to the triage area in the first place. Her skills were very much in the healing variety. And so, she'd been pretty happy when she'd finally gotten there. The brunette knew that she might have to venture back out, or try to protect if the battle ended up here too, but she planned on staying in the Great hall. Vannie knew that there was going to be a lot of injuries to tend too. And she just hoped that she could remember enough basic magical healing to cope.

The first thing she had done was ensure there was enough basic muggle supplies. Of course magical healing would be in most need, but Vannie would not deny that some muggle medicine, such as bandages, were such a staple. She knew it would help. And then when the injured started trickling in, at first anyway, she'd set about healing them to the best of her abilities.

Time had both sped up and slowed to a crawl. Either way, Elle was immensely glad for her last term at Hogwarts and helping Healer Reed with the triage from the portal incident. It had led her to choose emergency as her specialty at St. Mungo’s, and she deeply believed it was what had kept her going. Both in the mad dash to get inside the castle and subsequently during the steady flow of injured and dying being brought into the Great Hall. While others were acting as the transport, she had made the decision to stay. To be where she was useful, making sure the supplies were ready when new arrivals were brought in and using her training. She had noticed Healer Beryl speaking with Kaiser, and Charlotte being everywhere at once, but she was determined to stay steady.

She absolutely wasn’t a fighter, but she wasn’t stopped by any of the injuries she was facing now. She was focused, she was absolutely not going to back down or stop until it was necessary.

KAISER: ORDER OF THE PHOENIX
Even if the nausea did win, maybe nothing was likely to even happen. When had he last eaten? Breakfast, maybe. The day had been hectic even before... all that had happened in the office. Probably that wasn't helping, but the thought had not yet entered his head.

A hand on his back had Kaiser starting in surprise, an automatic jolt-and-turn. The searing in his head increased for a moment, and it was hard to even be sure of which way was up and which was down, and Kaiser instinctively grabbed for the man (Max)'s arm to keep himself upright.

Wait. Wait. "Sorry," Kaiser muttered after a moment, quickly letting go again as the pain settled back to a dull roar. "I'm sorry." The apology was for a lot of things. The reaction, the grabbing, the battle, the dead and injured all around them. "I think... water." English words were a little trickier than usual, but Kaiser wasn't sure that any other language would be much easier. It was just the headache, just the headache making it harder to think.

Still half-convinced he could simply will himself back to full(?) wellness, Kaiser closed his eyes for a moment, opened them, and there was someone else. Healer Beryl. Professor Beryl. Tomasz... his friend, one of his closest friends. Tomasz' mother. A sudden rush of guilt. Tomasz was here because Kaiser had brought him into the Order. Tomasz was... what if he was... was he...

The thoughts shut down on their own; Kaiser didn't have to do anything. He stared at Beryl, slightly dazed, not entirely processing seeing her here and now, like he'd not totally realised yet in all his trips in and out. But then, he hadn't processed much of anything, didn't even want to try, knew it would hurt too much, and in more ways than one. "No." No? ... No. Technically no? "Yes." ... "A headache. Not..." Not important. The word wouldn't come. The words that did were heavy. Kaiser looked slowly between Beryl, and the man who'd first approached him, and back again. "I have to go." He couldn't stop. He couldn't stop.

"I have to go."

Default Healer Torrance. Here to Help.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

It took some time. Torrance had fought his way through many of the Neo-Alliance to get the this point. He had heard through the hysteria that Some had taken control of the Great Hall and that a sort of make shift Emergency Response and morgue had been set up there. He hoped that both Vi and Simon were okay. They had to be. Promises were made. He wasn't going home to Ace with any bad news.

He walked to the side with the fallen. He walked along the side taking in as many of the faces as he could. Torrance hated death. It tied his stomach in knots. Honestly everyone should hate death, yet there were some on the other side that reveled in it. Sure there words were for a better Wizarding World but was it right that those who fought for it...some had such wicked smiles on their faces when they went for the kill.

He spotted Charlotte briefly here. Then she was off again.

It seems he found what he could do best for everyone here. For this war. He bowed his head and held it still for a few seconds. Giving his respects.

He gripped his wand then loosened it. He moved toward the wounded now. Ready to put his Healing to use. He he considered himself to a damn good Healer too.

He couldn't stop.

"I have to go."
The fact that the young man had needed to steady himself (and Carmine was thankful for Max James being such a steady presence for exactly that reason) spoke volumes when it came to how much help Kaiser truly needed right now.

"Still haven't learned how to ask for help, I see." She said, expression stern. "Don't make me full-name you, young man." She knew perfectly well that he preferred just Kaiser, and had always respected that, except for where Hogwarts paperwork had required otherwise. "You have to stay." She corrected him in a tone that brooked no argument. "You're not going to do anyone any good if you get yourself killed. Tomasz would not forgive me if I sent you on your way again when you're clearly struggling to even stand." If she had to guilt him into cooperation, Carmine Beryl was not above it.

She was also not against immobilizing him completely and forcing him to rest if necessary, Max here could catch Kaiser and make sure there wouldn't be another head injury to compound things she was sure.

"Lets have you rest here, Kaiser, I'll give you a potion to take the edge off, and in return you can keep an eye on the door for me, hmm? If they try and attack us here, we will need the help. Now, tell me what has happened to you, please."

Reaching out she grabbed onto his elbow. Wand held tightly in her other hand. "Help me get to the great hall, other healers are their." She didn't loosen her grip on him as she pulled him toward, ready to deflect any spells in their path.
Carter nodded and together the two of them headed toward The Great Hall. He'd been retired from Quidditch for few years now, and, admittedly, it felt great to exercise his reflexes like this.

He stood by the entrance of The Great Hall, looking around. The fighting was close. Practically right outside the doors.

Default Heraclitus and Horatio Blackthorne, Order sympathizers

Against all odds, and using the backways and shrubbery, Heraclitus Blackthorne had managed to get up to the castle without further mishap, cautiously levitating his brother's body. Horatio had not revived on his own, nor from any of the couterspells Heraclitus had tried on him, so this was no ordinary 'Stupefy' spell. With the Neo-Alliance, who knew what spells they would be using--his brother could have been hit by anything.

Finally arriving at what appeared to be some sort of healing station, Heraclitus gently lowered Horatio to the top of a nearby table and called for help. "My brother--he was hit by some sort of stunning spell, but it hasn't worn off and I can't end it using any of the counterspells I know. I'm not sure what he was hit with."

Default Moved Torrance outside. Bringing in Oakey to the Great Hall for Healing.
Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right.

with the help of the two saviors who came to him at the Wooden Bridge, Oakey Gunter hurried. It seemed that in the rush to get to the Great Hall to regroup with everyone he finally managed to catch his breath from the hard fall. Perhaps it was also the endorphins that made him move beyond that current pain. If he survived tonight. Once got Cairo home safely, and Ariana, and Xaria. He was going to feel it later. The man who came to him. He finally noticed was Henry Whittebrook. He played for the Kestrel's. Oakey enjoyed going to see them play against the Cannon's the most. One of the toughest teams in the league, and now the younger man was helping him along. Why was he always so focused on these positive thoughts in all the chaos? Was it perhaps a way to keep him sane and to not loose himself in the fight? No matter. Right now, he least he could do was help protect Henry, the girl, and Peggy. With his good hand still in working order the former Curse Breaker tossed a few Shield Spells up on their sprint to safety.

Unfortunately that feeling in his right hand was still not coming back. The spell the girl put on his whole arm helped it stop twitching, but who knew for how long. If he heard correctly Henry referred to her as Charlotte. Don't forget that name.

And as they made it safely inside he took in the sight. Other's already being treated for their injuries on one side. Then on the other...it was too much to bare. All those dead. How many went to school with him? Had worked with him briefly during his stint in Accidents and Catastrophes. He hoped...begged...none in there were family. His mental state would shatter if he saw his Daughter, his Wife, even Evan over there. How many could not be recovered to lay at rest? He recalled his last moments at the bridge watching it collapse as they escaped. Hadley, she...he couldn't save her. He tried so hard to free her. Yet...she wouldn't be in this room with the others

He looked to his right hand. Willing it to have feeling again. He attempted to make it move despite the charm placed on it to keep it still. Focusing on that was better than focusing on what was in front of him. "Thank you" He turned to the girl who had brought him in. "Thank you, Charlotte, Henry." He nodded. "Tell me what you need me to do? I need to get back out there. Find my son. As soon as possible." He would take whatever they gave him, do whatever it was he needed to help get his right hand back into some working condition if it meant he could be of use once more.

KAISER: ORDER OF THE PHOENIX
It was wholly unexpected - after all he'd been able to shut out all night long - the sudden flare of anger that came with the mere reference to his full name. "It isn't yours!" Kaiser snapped back, slipping instinctively into German. Heated. Kneejerk response. The fact that this was neither the time nor the place did not seem to occur to him. For a moment, there was nothing else. The name. It belonged to his mother, only she could... his mother. He needed... no. No. His father. His father? ... No.

Beryl was saying... Tomasz. And something inside of Kaiser faltered just for a moment, just long enough for it to hurt.

The name, his name, Tomasz' name, the faces and the faceless that flipped through his mind then, the rage, the guilt, the thought of Tomasz, and Oliver, and Adam, and his mother, and Nikolai, the boy in Munich, the girl in Vienna, and Charles and Fletcher and Candela and Elio Elio Elio. Everyone here. Everyone lying dead on the floor. All the dead out there, still not collected. And he'd as good as put them there. His stomach lurched.

Kaiser nodded his acquiescence without thinking it through, screwing up his eyes and placing the heels of his hands over them, blocking out the light as pain flared through his skull once more, swaying more dangerously. It helped too, not seeing anyone, not seeing Beryl, nor the man witnessing this. "I'm sorry," he whispered, and nodding again, quickly stopping. He did need to... to sit or lay down or something, just for a moment. "There was a duel, but it was healed. It is... it's only a headache now." Kaiser spoke haltingly, perhaps not clearly, but he spoke. Something to take the edge off, that was all he needed, and then she would be free to help someone who-... to help someone else.

"We'll go together." She took the woman's weight, her wand at the ready, and headed over to join the others.

SPOILER!!: Henry & Oakey

Arriving by the two men, and with the injured woman leaning against her, Char looked around just to make sure there was nothing too concerning in their immediate vicinity, but for now the coast was relatively clear. She shot a quick, determined smile at Henry then addressed the injured man.

"Here, I'll immobilize that arm for you, and we'll get you both to the Great Hall where they can fix you up a little better." Char said. Her wand hand was free already so she cast on the injured man's twitching right hand, carefully freezing his arm all the way up through the shoulder with the same numbing and immobilizing spell so that at least it any further damage would not happen while they moved. A couple of featherlight charms on each of the injured too so that she and Henry could still move as quickly as possible despite supporting their respective weights, and they were as ready as they were going to get.

And talk about timing - was the bridge collapsing? Char looked up in time to see some of that carnage, but she wasn't about to be distracted from the task at hand. And besides, the sooner they got to the Great Hall the better since it seemed like there might be others arriving with burns or smoke inhalation damage from all of that.

"Time to go, as fast as you can move. Henry, you shield. You too, if you can manage it" Char added, nodding at the injured man. And Char would keep her wand ready for blasting through if they needed it.

And she started them moving, trusting Henry to stay close while she led the way, supporting the woman's featherlight-adjusted weight for the mad dash toward the Great Hall.

ooc: Let me know if I need to change anything!!! Wanted to get us all moving! You guys wanna post out here too go ahead, or someone can post us arriving at the Great Hall?

"I'm here!" Ethan caught up to Minerva again and glanced back. Did Nemesis just...?Horrified, he stared as his former Headmistress was pushed off the bridge, screaming on her way down. "Wait.." he started as he heard the stunning spell shouted from next to him. No matter what the kid had done, they were still a child and Ethan didn't want them falling to their death. Being stunned would make it impossible for them to run off the bridge. And even though the spell seemed to have missed, it also seemed to be too late as the bridge came falling down before he could do anything about it.

His breath caught in his throat as he paused only a beat, but he turned and grabbed Minerva's arm. "Let's go! We need to get to the castle," he said as he began running with her that way. They needed to get to Morgan and make sure he was safe.

Talk about good timing. Peggy realized as the two medics, the woman and the man, helped her and Oakey to the Great Hall that there was absolutely no way she could have gotten herself off that bridge before it collapsed. And she couldn't speak for Oakey, but she was certain if they'd stayed any longer they'd have been killed either by flaming inferi or by the remaining Neo-Alliance folks. And some had been killed, she was certain, though she had not seen specifically whom.

Feeling somewhat safer and more confident now that they were somewhat protected from the Neo-Alliance's spells by the thick castle walls, Peggy maneuvered herself into a chair and turned to look at the healer who'd helped her and Oakey. She smiled at the young woman and gestured at her arm. So young and yet so helpful. "Thank you so much for your help," she said. "I don't think we exchanged names--I'm Peggy, Peggy Laplace."

Momentarily distracted, she glanced at the door of the great hall then back to the young woman, and over at Oakey nearby. Then she remembered her wand, which she drew, now that she didn't need her good arm for support. She could definitely help protect the more injured, especially if she could stay in this very good chair.

There was really a constant stream of people arriving, injured and in need of help. While Carmine currently was focused on young Kaiser, she kept aware of what was happening around her as much as possible. Years of working in the emergency department prepared her for this.

When a man came in carrying his brother, Carmine had looked up, made a cursory assessment, hearing his pleas over the hubbub, and hollered out, "Spell damage, over there please." If nobody got there before she was done settling Kaiser, she would of course assist the man herself.

SPOILER!!: Oakey and Peggy

"Charlotte Whittebrook, and this is my husband, Henry Whittebrook." Charlotte said to Peggy with a quick smile. Maybe she should just assume everyone knew who Henry was, but it was also automatic to offer names when an introduction was offered. And to Oakey, "Your wife is Ariana Gunter, right? She works with my aunt. We'll keep an eye out for your son." Char said with a smile. "Stay here and let the healers tend to you, then help keep everyone else here safe, in case they try and break in. We're going back out." Others needed help too.

"Stay safe." She added, nodding at Henry. "Lets go." And she was off again.

Seeing Charlotte Whittebrook and her strapping husband arrive with some more injured, Carmine called it out again, in case anyone was free to help them right away, otherwise they were on her own mental queue. "Two at the door."

Slight surprise but mostly compassion made a home on Carmine Beryl's face. Were they in private, she would have had an 'oh, sweetheart' reaction, but she simply waited for him to calm down a little, and tbraced him when he swayed.

"Its alright, Kaiser." She said kindly. A duel? That was healed? Her brow went up slightly. "I'll be the judge of that one." And she cast a non-invasive scanning spell which only confirmed her suspicions. "You're not doing anyone any favours by downplaying your injuries, young man."

Carmine turned her attention to the cart by her side, which had all sorts of potions loaded on it, and carefully selected two bottles. "Three drops of the blue for the pain. I don't want you to sleep. You'll be much more useful staying ready in case the neo-alliance get in here, since most of the injured aren't in any position to defend themselves. It would certainly set my mind at ease to know you were here to help, and I suspect Tomasz would be relieved to know you were looking out for his old, decrepit, mother." Alright, Carmine hardly considered herself decrepit. She smiled just a little at Kaiser and measured the blue drops into a tiny cup as she spoke, followed by four of a soft yellow potion before handing it to him. "Drink this then find somewhere to sit. I would like you to have some water too, please, the yellow one, which is for concussion damage, can make one feel a little dehydrated."

Making their way through the grounds and fighting the entire way Minerva felt a bit of relief as they entered the castle and got into the Great Hall, that relief soon faltered when she scanned it and saw all the injured and all the ones that had passed. They couldn't even get Hadley or Truebridge to bring them, but that was something they had to deal with later. Right now she couldn't see Morgan and she looked up at Ethan.

"Do you think they have the kids somewhere else?" Where were the students. Every emotion she could possibly hold was coming undone. Seeing Oakey she held Ethan's hand and headed towards him.

"Oakey, Oakey, are you alright?" Her own head for the most part had stopped bleeding but she would certainly not enjoy seeing her reflection anytime soon with the bumps and bruises that were on her as well as blackened smoke from the fire at the bridge.
