| | |  Weasley Swamp
 The legendary portable swamp created by Fred and George Weasley was once large enough to consume the entire fifth-floor corridor. Needless to say, this greatly irritated the notorious Dolores Umbridge when there were no instructions on how to remove it and the then teachers didn't seem to mind that it was there. Today a small section of the swamp remains, roped off in tribute of the redheaded twins' historic act of protest.
When you are getting close to this reserved section of the corridor, you will know without question. The remaining swamp still smells like an authentic swamp, look like an authentic swamp, bubbles like an authentic swamp, and will indeed suck you in if you cross over the rope and step in it. Avoid the Weasley swamp with care is the best advice you should heed while on the fifth floor, especially if you're running late to class. While it must have been an impressive and humorous sight back in the mid-90's, just praise Merlin that you don't have to make your way across today.

Welp. She had done it. She had definitely managed to get herself lost in all of the corridors and halls of the school. Was she surprised? Not in the slightest, it was bound to happen eventually. But K had certainly been hoping to take longer than a couple of days before she had no idea where she was going. She kept plodding forward though, hoping to run into someone could help turn her around or at least something of notice.
And suddenly, she was at a swamp. In the middle of the school? K stopped to a halt, not seeing a good way to get around the green in front of her and glanced around to try to figure out her next move. "I guess I did want something of notice...." she mumbled to herself, deciding to edge closer and peer at the mess before her. "This is a weird place."

Weird place?

K jumped when she heard a voice respond to her mumblings, before she turned and looked at the newcomer -- another female. She smiled lightly and bite back all the sarcastic retorts as, yes, obviously this was a swamp. "Any idea why it's here of all places?" She probably should have read the updated versions of Hogwarts a History but that sounded very much not like fun.
Wouldn't the grounds be a more likely spot for a swamp? Or even the dungeons? Or was she so turned around she actually was in the dungeons?

But there was no way she would ever read anything historical for fun. Let alone for class. "Could you give me the spark notes version?" She smiled slightly at the girl, before turning back to look at the Swamp again and blink at it. Did she really just say it had covered the entire floor? "Er... Why? Was there a purpose to it?" Because she very much was failing to see a possibility for that.

A form of protest, huh? K glanced back at the Swamp and found herself mildly impressed. Hopefully this was somewhere around wherever the office was for the supposed spy? That would certainly be the best way of inconveniencing someone. Actually, it was kind of genius. "I'm not a huge History person, but I do know a little bit about the Wars. Voldemort took over the school at some point didn't he? And so the battle where he was defeated happened here at Hogwarts?"

"There's lots of pretty interesting things to see around the castle. I love being in places where history actually happened. It's amazing just knowing that there have been generations of people in the exact same spot."

Heath wandered aimlessly down the corridor, stopping short of falling into the Weasley Swamp. He took an automatic step back. Merlin, that was close! He did not want a repeat of… whatever that lesson with the mud pit was! So why was he here? He’d completely forgotten! And why was he holding a camera? Oh, that’s right… the History of Magic assignment! He remembered now. Well, he remembered that was the reason he was here, but he couldn’t for the life of him recall the idea he’d had for a Flat Newt story.
He looked around, hoping something would jog his memory, but the only thing he could think of was how much the swamp looked like a mini Dagobah right in the middle of Hogwarts. All it was missing was a Yoda! Wait, that was it! Maybe not Yoda, but what if there was some other creature in the swamp? Heath wasn’t sure if that was the original idea he had in mind, but it was a good one so he was using it. He set up the Flat Newt cutout, taking care not to get it too close to the edge, and snapped a picture.
Once Flat Newt and the camera were safely back in his bag, Heath pulled out a quill and notebook to jot down his ideas:

- The “creature” turns out to be something else
He looked over what he had so far. He’d definitely have to fill in some details later, but it was a start!
