Welcome to the Hut and Office of the Groundskeeper, Charms Professor and Slytherin Head of House, Pierson Fuller-Thompson. You can make an appointment to see him by sending him an owl, or you can just stop by the hut and see if he's in. However, he's going to be quite the busy man if he's going to keep up with lessons, Slytherins and the grounds.
If you would like to see Professor Fuller, please knock a few times first. If he answers, you're welcome to come in. Otherwise, it would be wise to come back later or leave him a note.
Once inside the hut, you'll notice that it's looking a bit different than it did back in the old days and probably even different than last term. It's been modified to fit Piers' style, but also to accommodate his life. When you walk in, you'll see a small kitchenette with a tea kettle on the stove. Next to it is a wood burning fireplace, and across from that is a nice couch. If you look up, you'll see a loft. That's where glorious naps happen. Under the loft, you'll find a nice seating area, a small dining room table and another couch, all adorned with flannel to keep the man and his guests warm during the cold months.
Make yourself comfortable. But, of course, not too comfortable. He is busy, you know.

Claudine knew that she needed to see Fuller-Thompson about an important topic and she hadn't much of a chance until now, a few days until after the start of the term. It was a pleasant afternoon after lessons and the Snakette had returned to her dorm, deposited her belongings but for the sketchpad and pencils (which were in her bag on her back) before heading out to the Grounds.
I hope he's in, was the thought that flashed through her mind as she knocked four times on the door. If he wasn't... well, she'd sit outside of the hut for sometime to work on finishing one of her sketches. This included charming them into flashing various colours at intervals (this was something new she intended on trying). In any case, she wasn't planning on being out too long because that would mean trouble.
Thus far, Claudine had kept her head down and avoided that.

Career advice? Wasn't she, like 13? Though, he supposed it was never too early to start considering it. Piers pulled off his reading glasses and gestured for her to come in more. "No, no, not at all. Have a seat." He was just working on lesson plans, but they could always wait. He didn't mind talking to his Snakes and helping out where he could.

Claudine, not really used to seeing Fuller-Thompson in reading glasses, thought he looked weird? Unusual? Just not Fuller-Thompson… though he did look more intelligent and fatherly. Was this the version Curtis saw at home on a regular basis? It was something she was wondering as she slipped her bag off of her back and took a seat opposite. Merlin, she felt weird being in his presence, given all the trouble she had caused before.

"Yeah, of course," he replied, glancing at the two pups. "They need all the interaction they can get. I've usually got them out in the pen with the rest of the dogs." And that pen was open for visitors all the time, so she could go play with them whenever she wanted.
Piers leaned back in his chair as Claudine began to discuss what she came there to. Ah, so this was about her career. Piers always admired the young students who were ambitious enough to start thinking ahead about their careers. Despite everything that had... happened last term, Piers was happy to help. This meeting meant that Claudine was ready to grow up and show that she was serious about her schoolwork, and he appreciated that.

"Alright, well, something you'll have to consider is which of those three you like as a hobby and which of them you would like to do for the next several years, even decades." Claudine had just wanted to be sure that cruppies weren’t restricted when it came to human contact for whatever reason. Plus, it was great to have approval from Fuller-Thompson seeing as the cruppies were his. This meant that she just might allow herself to get attached to them after all.
It was with rapt attention that she paid attention to every bit of advice that she was given. Hobbies and long term commitment; it was a good place to start figuring out which was which. Of course, there was already her art but up until now, she hadn’t realised that she had done exactly what Fuller-Thompson was advising: art had already been put in the category of ‘hobby’ even before she had gotten here at the Hut.
“Gosh, no. I don’t think I’d be up for Law Enforcement. Duelling is like art for me; I love using them to occupy free time.’’ Claudine was looking at Fuller-Thompson thoughtfully, her fingers tapping the table. “I definitely would get along well with students, especially if they get up to mischief…’’ Cue sheepish look on her face. She’d likely throw them in detention for the duration of their School time. But her Head of House had captured her attention with the creature talk. “Work in a sanctuary while studying creatures,’’ Claudine blurted out excitedly. “Eventually I might get into having one of my own.’’ Ambitions, she had them. “At this point, I’m not sure if I’d like to study and work with any specifically, I have a soft spot for most creatures.’’ But still, it was difficult to miss how much her eyes were sparkling with happiness. It felt as though student life was at least coming together a bit for her.

See, now she was already narrowing down her options. A lot of students like duelling, but the prospect of putting your life on the line to protect the community, was a bit too far. Besides, wanna-be aurors made themselves known pretty quick early on and truthfully, he didn't really peg Claudine as one.

She felt a sudden rush of affection for her Head of House because at a time when she was so confused and unsure, he had provided the guidance to help her sort through all that had been milling around in her head. For this reason, she continued to listen to all the information he continued to pass on over to her.

Everything’s a lot clearer in my head than it had been when I got here.’’ Did he see just how much her eyes were shining? She had a goal to focus on right now and it gave her another purpose for keeping her head down and out of trouble.

Piers chuckled a bit when Claudine mentioned the new Creatures professor. "Professor Williamson will be happy to help. And he's plenty approachable." The man was similar to him in a way and Claudine had managed to get on Piers' good side now, so there was plenty of hope when it came to WWW.
When the young snake thanked him, he gave her a nod and a smile, though he had certainly been expecting more questions. He supposed he couldn't complain, though. She seemed to be satisfied with the information that he had provided her. "Well, you're quite welcome. Feel free to stop by anytime." That was an invitation for the cruppies or just for general advice. He was her head of house, after all.
