It was a few hours after supper and Jina spent the time tackling her Charms homework in the study hall. Well truthfully, she spent perhaps half an hour really working. She couldn't even remember what she did other than that - a bit of fiction reading, some doodling, anything other than studying. Soon afterwards, she found herself yawning and rubbing her eyes, so she arbitrarily decided that she had done enough work, packed up her bag and left the hall. By the time she dragged herself up the third flight of stairs, she realised how pathetic she was for having achieved nothing during her study session. And now she was going to fail all her exams, disappoint her teachers, get rejected from universities and basically ruin her life. On the other hand, she hated this whole self-criticism thing she was doing. She knew that it was okay to relax once in a while even in her NEWT year, but it was difficult to do so without feeling guilty. … Wait, where was she anyway? She must have taken a wrong route while walking up to her common room.

Feeling exasperated, she walked down the corridor once: I just want to relax.

No, the common room should be at the other end of the corridor. She walked back down the corridor for the second time: I just want to relax.

Actually, she was right the first time. She turned around and walked past that strange tapestry for the third time: I just want to RELAX.

“What the - “ she said out loud as a door appeared out of nowhere opposite the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy. She opened the door cautiously and peeked inside. It was a wide room decorated with her favourite plants and furnished with comfortable armchairs. There were even beautiful abstract artworks hanging on the walls. Everything just looked very … relaxing. This was just what she wanted! With a half-shocked, half-happy expression on her face, Jina held the door open and looked up and down the corridor again.

How long has Jillian been in the Owlery was rather an odd thing. She debated after dinner whether or not to go there and feed her owl, Mila. She did because she was enjoying moments when she is alone instead of being in a crowded room. Too much noise. Too much of everything. She had a letter in her pocket, one she should have owled but hesitated because it was already going dark and she didn't like Mila travelling for it. Tomorrow was still an option and so she decided it will be. She headed out of the owlery as the cold breeze touch her skin.

She took a big deep breath before making her way towards the stairs although stopped at the sound of a voice. One she is very familiar with. Her feet dragged her towards that voice, making sure she wasn't hearing things really. She peaked and found Jina in front of the Room of Requirement. Is she hiding out there? She shook her head and quickly followed her. "Jina!" she called out her name but the seventh year Ravenclaw was peaking inside the room.

Obviously she also wanted to see what was inside. So this is a quick detour before going back to the dorm rooms, yes. "Hey, Jina" she spoke up again as she stood next to her. "What are you doing here?" that and what's inside? Is it awesome? She hopes it wasn't empty.

She JUMPED when she heard her name. Oh, Jillian, hi! That is what she would have said in normal circumstances, if she was just walking down a plain corridor. Which is what made this situation so confusing, because she could swear that was precisely what she was doing a moment ago. Instead, she blurted out, "I wasn't doing anything! I was just heading back to Ravenclaw tower when this door popped up." Her eyes were wide due to amazement and an effort to convince Jillian of her innocence. She was suddenly very aware that her friend was the head girl and could totally report her to a professor for ... damage to school property? She wasn't even sure if the door appeared because of her, but she felt like she did something wrong nevertheless.

"It's pretty cool though, it has beanbags and everything," she said, opening the door wider for Jillian to see.

Jillian moved right next to her and she chuckled softly with how Jina reacted. "Calm down, Morin. I'm not going to rat you out just because the Room of Requirement opened its doors for you" she beckoned and grinned. It's okay to check the Room of Requirement OOOOR maybe she's not aware that this is the Room of Requirement

She took a long pause and realized one thing, Jina was a transferred student during her sixth year. N O W it makes more sense. Jillian looked at her with her hand holding the door knob and opening it further. "This is the Room of Requirement. Pretty much self explanatory" hence its name. "Were you perhaps needing a room of some sort?" her eyebrow raised as she asked her. Yes, that could be it.

Her eyes glanced at the room inside. It does look pretty cool. Her smile got brighter as she walked inside the room. "Wow" she whispered under her breath. "This is a nice room" she agrees.

Yeah? Okay, good. She smiled, feeling reassured but still confused. The room of requirement? Were there prerequisites for entering this room? Why did it open its doors for her? So many questions. Jina chuckled as Jillian seemed to realise how clueless she was. “No, not self-explanatory. Can you tell me more about it? I … was just thinking that I want to relax when I reach the common room,” she shrugged.

Stepping into the room after her friend, she walked around here and there, taking in everything, and finally settled into an armchair. It appeared that they could just enjoy the things here without feeling self-conscious. Hogwarts never ceases to amaze her. “It’s the kind of space we need to unwind after NEWT revision sessions,” she commented, then groaned, remembering how much she procrastinated just now. She had no right to talk about exam stress.

Jillian looked at Jina thought of how to explain to her how this room works... Perhaps in a way that she wouldn't be bombarded by too much scattered information about it. "The room only appears when a person had real need of it. In your case you must have thought about it while circling around the seventh floor." Which is why it appeared in front of her "the interior will also depend on what the person wants" she nodded "so in your case a place to relax and study for NEWTs" she glanced at the room and then back at Jina "Which is why this is what it looks like".

She's at awe. She has been looking for a room to study by herself and the library isn't a place she wanted to be in. The common room sometimes can be quite crowded. This was nice. This was REAAALLLY nice. "Cozy" for NEWTs. "Speaking of NEWTs, how are you so far?" Jillian asked.

That explained a lot! She nodded as she listened to Jillian’s explanation. “I see. That’s amazing, I can’t believe I didn’t know about this room of requirement.” She mused. She could use this room for all kinds of purposes. But at the moment she could not think of what she would use the room for. It seemed like Hogwarts already had a space for everything - a music classroom, an arcade area and she heard there was even a room for the spirits in the dungeons. It was often difficult to find bathrooms on this floor though, so she could come in here to use the toilet. And of course create cosy study & relaxing rooms like this one.

“Not so good, actually. I can’t seem to be able to concentrate for long,” she pouted as she picked at the fabric of the armchair she was sitting in. “What about you?”

She smiled at the seventh year Ravenclaw. Well, she is a lot luckier than Jillian will ever be because she managed to have this room opened its doors for her. Jillian has tried before but maybe she didn't have the heart to really want it...? That and her only reason for wanting is to try and see if a door does appear in front of her. This room doesn't take requests. "I know right. It is amazing." she grinned, really excited with this room. She takes a seat beanbags, somehow flopping on to it but remains graceful. "I still feel ecstatic" yeah, because it is the coolest thing so far.

So she has problem with concentration and honestly so does Jillian. She started over the summer but she didn't make it through really. Granted she started with the subjects she's not very fond of. "We're exactly the same but I have tried to sop myself from procrastinating so much" she nodded. "We should do a group study if you want." she suggested.

Some discoveries were made by pure coincidence, like Jina unlocking the room of requirement. She wouldn't have dreamed that some students tried hard to locate the hidden room and make it open its doors for them. She smiled at how excited Jillian seemed to be in this place - she was so cute!

When the Ravenclaw began her revision during the summer, she thought her procrastination issue was because the environment she was in was inadequate. She reckoned that she would be able to concentrate better if she went to school and settled in the study hall, with no distraction around her. Well, her lack of productivity in the past few hours disproved her theory. She had to admit that the problem was with her. "Really? That would be great. You can jinx me if I lose focus," she proposed eagerly. That would actually be very effective (as long as it did not ruin their friendship).

Jillian understands that you need that kind of motivation to focus. A jinx or two would probably do the trick but that seems like over the top, right? Plus, Jina is a good friend Jillian doesn't consider it one bit- maybe to other people but definitely not to her. OooooHHHH maybe a good all smack on the forehead will do it, yes? She looked at Jina and chuckled "I'd get in trouble if i jinxed you" also true. "We can pinch each other's cheeks if one gets sleepy" hurts probably a lot but a lot better than a jinx.

"i think we just need to have a system. Like 30 minutes of silent studying and then a quick 15 to 20 minutes of just quizzing each other" she nodded. "Most correct answers gets a chocolate" she might regret this, Jina is a Ravenclaw after all. Smart is kind of their trademark.

It was fortunate that Jillian did not mention the “smack on the forehead”, because Jina would have considered that to be worse than jinxes. Forehead slaps were super painful if done properly, okay? Cheek pinching was alright, and probably very effective in preventing her from getting sleepy. ”It's a deal,” she said, smiling with satisfaction.

The promise of studying together with the head girl would have been enough to motivate her to study diligently, but Jillian had more ideas! ”That's an excellent plan. It always helps to quiz each other, then we can figure out what we understand well and what we need to revise more,” she agreed. Chocolate was the best reward for hard work too, hehe.

Was she looking forward to the study sessions, or was she looking forward to spending time with Jillian? Hmmm …
