| | |  Barn and Pastures
 Similar to the Magical Creature Sanctuary, the barn is an enclosure that contains a variety of creatures scattered about, mostly ones that need to be kept inside during the winter. In the spring and fall, many of these creatures will be allowed out into the Sanctuary where students can continue looking after them. The Hogwarts barn itself is a well-aged and well-maintained structure located a distance from the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Like most structures here on the grounds, it's bigger on the inside than on the outside, with tidy enclosures for each of the breeds of animals kept for the use of the school. Out of the great back doors that swing open, fences lead to open pastures. The wooden and stone fences are charmed to prevent any kind of creature (or student) from escaping.
Students are welcome to visit the barns and accompanying pastures any time they are not in class, meals, or after curfew. Grab feed from the bins by the door, take one or more of the creatures out for some air, or give the winged horses a good rub down. Whatever you do, remember to treat the creatures with respect and care, especially the ones with sharp teeth and hooves bigger than your heads.
Most animals within this enclosure are rated X, XX, or XXX. Some animals reside in stalls, others are in coops or cubbies, some are in the loft above your head, and some are just regular mundane barn creatures. Please remember your skill level, year, and familiarity around animals when visiting the Barn and Pastures.

Williamson marched in the barn again with two augureys, one under each arm. He let them go in a stall and watched as they flew up into kneazle territory, aka the loft... ah great, birds and cats together like only the devil intended. Well that would prove to be a problem for his future self to solve.
He shooed some scaredy kneazles away from his feet and picked up a few puffskeins the helper kids had tossed in, trying to organize the poffer into one of the stalls of the barn. They were shivering and he could actually see some of their frightened eyes for once; not a good sign, not at all.
Then he headed back outside again, back to the Sanctuary to see what animals were left, and which ones he could save from this impending storm. All he could think was why he hadn't seen this weather coming, and worse, why he had forgotten to move the animals inside earlier, before bad weather had set in? He paused at the edge of the barn and scratched his head as though he was forgetting something, but he couldn't remember what it was, so he just went back to the creature sanctuary again to grab some more animals.

With Maleficent in his arms, Noah dashed towards the Barns. He kept glancing down at Maleficent, hoping that she was fine, and found himself occasionally talking to the kneazle as he tried to soothe her. A poor creature must have been distressed during this time and he wanted to make sure that this one was a okay. Besides, he had made a promise to Isla that her beloved kneazle be safely delivered to safety. And this meant that her kneazle felt nice and calm too. However, it was hard to remain calm in such a storm.
When he arrived at the Barns, he had hoped to find WWW here but alas he wasn't here.
He assumed it would be okay to bring Maleficent here. Entering the barn, he slipped in with the meowing kneazle in his arms. Sitting down, he began patting the creature, trying to comfort her. "Shh.. SH... It's okay. Isla wants to make sure you are safe. Isla will be safe too so don't you worry now, okay?" he whispered softly talking to the creature in his arms.
Noah cast his eyes upward to find the augreys and the kneazles in the same barn... Errr... This didn't seem like a good idea. "Are you ok, Maleficent?" he asked before placing her on the ground with the other kneazles.

K ran into the barn, trying to avoid all of the new animals within, and another stray kneazle under her arm. Her eyes were stinging from the closer proximity to the animal, as well as the harsh winds, but she wasn't too concerned with that at the moment. She spotted Noah in a corner with the other kneazles and breathed a sigh of relief to see he was okay. In the back of her head, she also had a nagging feeling for concern for her family as she hadn't even looked for them prior to running off. Heading towards the kneazle corner, she deposited her furry companion, with a loud sniff and a couple of blinks to clear her eyes. She smiled briefly at Noah, "Glad to see you're okay.
Standing she eyed the walls and the contents of the barn, still curious if perhaps they need to reinforce the walls to make sure the creatures were safe. She looked for Professor Williamson to see him coming in and out still with various creatures. "Professor? Is there something we can do to make it sturdier in here against the wind?" Or maybe they should actually be carting the smaller creatures into the castle? They could still do that.

William was about to head back outside again when he heard Kimberly behind him.... er, in front of him. Or whatnot. He just didn't believe that the barn was going to blow over! It was old, yes, but it had been held together by magic for so long that surely it would be fine... right?!? This was just a regular storm!!!
Still at the door, pointed to a few nearby cinderblocks and bricks that they sometimes stacked together so kids could be at the right height for mounting or dismounting a flying horse, or even just for standing on to brush them down. "Er, there's those," he pointed out. "Good luck, and thanks for your help.... I'm heading back out." He nodded to the helpful Hufflepuff and returned to the creature sanctuary.

Islay took a deep breath of relief as she spotted Isla and Noah together. “Hey Noah,” she nodded as she made her way over toward the Jarvey enclosure. A small wriggling Jarvey from the ouside of the barn in her arm as she walked it over to the pens and placed it in.
Looking into their enclosure she quickly began counting the names listed on the sign. “we need to have...twelve all together – so eleven to go” she shrugged her shoulder as she walked back out to the sanctuary to collect more jarveys.

To the barn Claudine trudged, her arms growing wary from the kneazles' and their carriers' weight. But once there, she set them all down with a breath of relief. Though... President's carrier was picked up immediately after again so she could hold it up at her height. Claudine peered in between the bars and was not surprised to see President sitting there without a care in the world. "Glad to see you so calm,'' she said to the kneazle she had become caretaker to. "I just need to see that the rest of your friends are okay too.''
If no one brought in the remaining of the carriers, she'd go get them herself. | |

With the bowtruckles in tow, Sunny made his way over to the barn and released the each one by one. Had to pluck them off his shoulders, which some of 'em didn't like. Once that was all settled, he took out his notebook again and began jotting down some more notes. "Oi, you," he smiled as he looked over at the student with the kneazle [FearlessLeader19]. "Any thoughts on the storm?" Might as well collect a few quotes or two.

Blake having helped with the fairies as instructed held a particullary stubborn one in his hands. He had several gashes on his hand from their sharp little fingers ... or maybe they weren't that sharp and they just didn't want to be manhandled, either way he had some scratches, but the fairies were secured.
"Professor what's left to do? What happens if the barn blows over?" Care of Magical Creatures wasn't exactly his favorite subject, but he also didn't want anything to happen to the animals for no reason. He didn't like it.. not one bit.

Naya made it to the barn with the fairies and looked around for a safe place to put them. When she found one, she placed them there and tried to reassure them. “You are safe now. Don’t worry. It’s going to be ok.” But were they safe, really? Who knew? There were definitely strange things going on and the storm was only one small part of the big picture.
Worrying about her classmates who had not made it in from the sanctuary yet, Naya decided to return. Maybe they needed more help. She would feel better when everyone was safe and accounted for. So, she decided to make another trip outside.

Once inside the barn, Nem dropped the puffskein onto the floor and gave it a gentle nudge with their foot. "Go find your poffle," they said, and watched as it hopped away towards one of the stalls, where the rest were presumably hiding.
That done, Nem located this mystery intruder guy, the only adult currently in the barn, currently talking to Blaze. Nemesis went right on over that way, as though being protective or something. Yeah, yeah, Williamson said back to the castle. Whatever. Later.
"Williamson said we need to put you in chains," they said to the guy as they stopped right beside Blaze, unceremoniously butting into the conversation. Wait. Was Blaze taller than Nem? When had that happened? ... Nem squinted at her a moment, shook their head as though to clear it, and looked back at the guy with the questions. "You escape from Azkaban or something?" Can't be too sure these days. Nem eyed the notebook. "Or are you a cop?"

Hearing WWW point out cinderblocks and bricks, she headed that direction with the intent of grabbing them to just place them around to reinforce the structure in some places, but suddenly it sounded like the storm outside had stopped. Blinking slightly, she headed towards the door to double check. If the storm was over, then she didn't need to worry about the building. Getting the animals, who still seemed a little nervous, inside did seem like a good idea regardless however.
She glanced at the stranger again who was now helping to bring in animals, before heading out the door and back to the outside.

"He did, eh?" Sunny turned around, his smile bright and sunny as he looked over at the kid [Felixir]. These kids, they were really so funny. "I doubt that'll be necessary, kiddo," he waved it off. Naaaaah, he wasn't worried about chains. Kids really just said whatever they wanted, you know? This was obviously a joke and Sunny laughed brightly because he had a great sense of humor. It was one of his most redeeming qualities next to the radiant smile and ability to predict a thunderstorm a week in advance.
His laughter had actually calmed down just before the wave of questions sent him chuckling loudly all over again. "Me? A cop? Naaaaaaaaah!" Sunny waved another dismissive hand. That was a funny thought though. If he weren't using his notebook for the important details, he might've even considered jotting down these hilarious lines to keep for a rainy day. "I'm a weather reporter. Much more reputable," he winked. "Speaking of which, any thoughts on this strange storm?" Sunny was all ears.

"Yeah." Nice smile, Nem could do those too. Was well versed in them, actually, and flashed a bright, beaming grin at the guy right now, all sunshine and rainbows. Kiddo, though? Crazy. That was the kind of thing the paternal half of M&D liked to say, and it sounded just as condescending and patronising from one as from the other.
Well, he hadn't denied the escapee thing, but Nem had far more sense than to point that out. And also... didn't particularly care at this juncture.
"Yeah?" they replied, deciding to maintain a pleasant smile for now, but bypassing any sort of eagerness. "Where do you report it, exactly?" Not that it mattered, but still. Nem glanced towards the barn doors at that question, then back at Smiles. "A few, actually. It'll cost ya, though."

Claudine set President’s carrier down on the ground and turned her attention to the stranger. Did she have a comment? She had plenty, actually. Was she going to share them with him? No. Instead, she raised an eyebrow at him. “None that I want to share with you,’’ she said waspishly. In the same tone, she replied to Blake, Slytherin House’s pride and joy in the form of a big baby. “It will not blow over. Williamson takes good care of his buildings.’’ Why was she defending the man? Other than the fact he was letting her help out around the sanctuary and barn and sharing his knowledge about creatures with her, she didn’t know.
The third year was now aware that Nem was beside her but unlike her friend, she was not in that moment occupied by their height difference. “Should we wait on the Professor, Nem?’’ Claudine questioned, eyes boring daggers into Raine’s soul but at the same time glistering maliciously. She disliked him; she didn’t trust him. “I bet Williamson would be grateful.’’
Also, Nem wasn’t really going to give the man any comment; they were more sensible than that. But hey, why not make a little something out of this entire thing? You go, Nem.

Yeesh, tough crowd. Sunny gave the young girl [FearlessLeader19] a curious look and shrugged. Wasn’t any skin off his back. He had plenty to go off of already. This one wasn’t as friendly as the other [Felixir].
”I’m in-between jobs.” Or in other words, unemployed. Not that it mattered because soon every outlet would be fighting over the publishing rights to his big story. ”What’s your price, kid?” Sunny wasn’t about to pay for a quote, but he was willing to listen. Not like there was much else to do. Storm had stopped for now, hadn’t it?
And Williamson must’ve been the guy who Sunny had handed the augureys off to. Real skeptical kinda guy. Sunny wouldn’t mind waitin’ up for him either. Maybe he'd know more about the recent events.

Williamson came into the barn last, behind anyone else who'd been outside and seen all that weird weather. He put the last few animals away, mentally cursing himself for not getting everyone winter-ready sooner, and then stomped over to the strange man being interrogated by two Slytherins. Or was the grown man the one doing the interrogating?? He couldn't tell from this angle, so he rather obviously stood behind Sunny Rain and peeked over his shoulder at his notepad.
"Whatcha writing?" he breathed down the other man's neck. "Your last wishes before we throw ya into the dungeons?"
Look, he was once a Slytherin too. He was very fond of that under-the-sea common room and all the many detentions he'd served in Dungeon Five. He thought a stranger who snuck into HIS BARN deserved a hard time.

It was one of Williamson's favorites, yeah? A quote that was deliberately chosen to remind this Sunny Rain fella about his ILLEGAL TRESPASSING at Hogwarts. Though from what Williamson had heard, Azkaban was not the most secure location at the moment...
Eh, anyway. He hmmph'd to himself and flicked his wand into his left hand. "Right, if you've got that, then let's go to the castle. TO THE CASTLE, KIDS," he boomed, gesturing toward them all with his free hand. His wand hand he kept trained on Sunny, even though it was kinda useless at the moment. Claudine continued to watch Raine without any signs of being impressed with the man. Maybe it was because she rarely trusted anyone or maybe because she just got thisvibe from him that she didn't like. Heck, maybe it was even his profession... whatever it was, the girl certainly was happy that Williamson seemed to have things under control.
Claudine gave President one last smile for now, a last glance at the rest of kneazles then started back for the Castle. It didn't seem that any of them were heading home just yet then... probably that storm had delayed things. Claudine had no idea that she was about to find out that no one was going home for Christmas that year. | |

Riiiiight. In between jobs. Like Nem was in between large monetary donations, and not just plain poor, or financially challenged or whatever term made their parents sleep better at night. They were just about ready to name their price, however, when Williamson appeared again. Nem held off, not fully believing that the 'weather guy' would buy a quote anyway - there was a school full of kids who would give him one for free, after all, and he more than likely wasn't a weather reporter anyway - let alone with a professor standing nearby.
Back to the castle it was then, so Nem headed for the exit of the barn. "I'll go make sure those chains are ready for our guest." Or not. It was probably a joke. Maybe. "Peace." With that, they headed back up to the castle at a jog. First things first: time to locate the good evil good evil twin.

This was not the kind of quote he had meant. Mister Williamson did make it rather clear that he wasn't in the quote giving business though, so Sunny simply smiled and jotted that down in his notes. It'd be best to keep a record of who might be a willing contributor anyhow.
"To the castle," Sunny grinned, heading off in that direction behind the children. "So, funny weather we're having, eh?" He mused, trailing off as they made their way towards the castle.
