Could he just take a moment to say how relieved he was that despite the obvious concern some of his students had toward the creature, none had gone trying to calm it down themselves? James could grabby hand the it all she liked as long as she stayed behind Gladin.

Trent turned his gaze down to Grantham. Admittedly, he wasn’t as surprised as he could’ve otherwise been by her question. The man had raised two children. On principle, children tended to want things they had no business having because someone else had it. “The last thing Hogwarts needs is a dragon. And Beauxbatons does not have a dragon, either. I have no doubt it will be carted off to a reserve before the night is up. They like wide open spaces...and roasting people. A castle wouldn’t be the best place for one.”

Aaaaand there went Desmarais.

Consider him equally relieved her shrill reprimand was not directed yet again at his students. He’d quite frankly had enough of that. Which reminded him.

Malachi put out the last of the flames before turning to his students once more. “Looks like we’re all done here. Everyone, back to your dorms to get packed. We’ll head out after dinner.” Nevermind that he still didn’t know WHERE. He wouldn’t allow them to be kicked out twice. They would leave with their dignity in place...as much as was left after having their names dragged through the mud anyway.

Giselle Desmarais 11-19-2019 12:38 PM

Once the creature was contained, Giselle moved to approach the students—they were in for it. They didn’t know how in for it they were. This was likely their last night at Beauxbatons, she was so furious—but Malachi’s words to his own students gave her a moment’s pause.

Right. She’d expelled them all. Yes. She remembered that. Happened not an hour ago over in the Inquisitorial Hall. Of course.

”Let’s not be too ‘asty.” She began, feeling this to be her second lesson in humility in the space of one evening. It was not the tastiest pill she’d ever had to swallow but...given how everything turned out. “My verdict may ‘ave been a bit....excessive. Detention ‘ould ‘ave been more fitting...” Not that she was about to throw them into detention and not that the decorations mattered NOW. This dragon was all the reason to cancel the ball. Her students didn’t deserve a night of elegance after what they’d caused regarding her rose garden.

“Zhere are still a few months to go. Zhere is no need to uproot ze children and not in ze dead of night. When ‘ould you get back to London? Non, stay, please. Ze castle ‘as already been set up to share. We do not need to end it on such a sour note.” More sour than it had already turned out. LOOK at her roziz!!! “Ze elves ‘ave made twice as much food. We can’t possibly eat it all. Stay. Stay. You ‘ave nowhere else to go and are welcome ‘ere.”

Truly. She would even refrain from making faces when they used the wrong utensils at dinner.

You know what this moment deserved?

A SLOW CLAP.

Because was this for real? The beaux kids had nurtured a dragon to ruin things for them. Honestly, what even. She stared as the dragon flew to it's mama. She then stared in disbelief as the French queen finally fell off her incredibly high horse.

Missa rolled her eyes and crossed her arms when she insisted they STAY.

Honestly, no. Self respect was a thing, hopefully the headmaster would realise this and not stay. Tell her off and LEAVE.

It just made the fifteen year old really really angry, and then she really couldn't bite her tongue, and heard herself saying, "thanks but no thanks, besides why should we stay? You or your kids aren't even properly apologising for what you guys just almost did. Your verdict wasn't excessive, it was completely unjust."

If Carsyn's head wasn't flipping back and forth between all that was happening before, it most CERTAINLY was now. The fourth year just stared and listened and observed, as the dragon was harnessed by his - papa? - their headmaster said they'll be gone after dinner.

But wait. What? Now they could stay?

Literally Missa said it best in the most blunt way possible and it was honestly quite true. Why should they stay? Other than the fact that they literally had nowhere else to go, since as far as she knew, Hogwarts will still infested with whatever. Stepping over next to the older ravenclaw girl, she crossed her arms in a stance and nodded approvingly. "I'm with her." She said before she could help herself.

"Me too." Dalia piped up, moving to stand with Missa and Carsyn. You know, as if it wasn't obvious before. She was completely over this mess and she didn't really care if they had nowhere else to go. The idiot French kids' total lack of thought had gotten them kicked out and blamed and could've gotten them all KILLED if the dragon had set the castle on fire (thank goodness it was only the rose garden). She couldn't stand the thought of sharing space with the Frenchies anymore. "Headmaster Trent, please don't make us stay..."

Self-respect, she had it.

"OI!" Eiji barked as Trinetta, for literally NO GOOD REASON AT ALL just punched his twiggy arms. Seeing as she was a quidditch person, so to speak, that punch packed a lot more than she likely had anticipated for someone with an aversion to athletics such as he. "You just assaulted me when, technically speaking, you are not right because technically they didn't cause any of the damages since none of them can breathe fire." He was not wrong. NOT WRONG. Trinetta was not right...just kind of half right. He could settle at them both being half right.

And BESIDES, if she recalled in the trial he HAD accused the Beauxbatons students of KNOWING what or who was actually behind this. So, really, he was more right than she was.

He just vaguely heard the conversation between that insanely loud first year and Headmaster Trent about Hogwarts getting their own dragon. Vaguely remember his mum talking about a time where they DID have a baby dragon, Roro was the name, and that had just all gone to hell in a fiery hand basket like it all was today. Literally.

Though it really was not until the Beauxbatons headmistress was trying to back pedal and not look as much like the dauntingly dotty banshee that she truly was that he truly snapped. And snapped like only a salty Slytherin could. "Just wait until my grandfather, the Minister for Magic, hears about this!" Eiji found himself boldly proclaiming as he took an even bolder step forward. A small one, mind you. He didn't want to get too close in case the woman actually turned out to be Veela and went harpy on everyone here. Which, if he stopped to properly consider it all, if she were so she surely would have snapped already.

Because of her roses. Hey...maybe he could come back and collected some thorns in the morning? She would have to remove all the damaged plants anyway and replace them. Patience was paying off.

"...he'll have you under speculation by both Ministries for this and lobby for your resignation."

Well if this wasn't a rock and a hard place. He....was perfectly ready to leave. At the same time, what he would give for several extra hands to clamp over the mouths of his students.

He got it, believe him, he GOT IT. For all the yelling they'd gotten this term, he'd gotten the longer version of it BUT. But. But. There was a but.

"Thank you." He replied to the Headmistress, calm as he could be despite the wild reactions he expected would further keep flying out of his woefully short sighted students' mouths. Leaving would feel great, but then what? "We appreciate the gesture." Oh to be young and blissfully choosing to all the details of any situation. OH TO BE THEM. To not have to deal with this.

With equal calm, he turned to face his students. Why should they stay? He could give them a good reason. An unavoidable one at that. "We'll remain until the end of the term. That is...unless one of you has an entire castle sitting in wait to receive us when we pull out of Beauxbatons tonight. And if you do, I can't imagine why you'd have kept it secret for so long." Merlin knew they could've used the getaway a few times. "Under the assumption you don't, that puts an end to this conversation." And any others that threatened to spring up.

"Let's try to think longer term than the next half an hour, hm? Hogwarts is still in need of repair. No other schools are prepared to take us on such short notice. I can't send you all home with so much of the school year left." THAT was why they'd stay and if they weren't careful, they'd lose the upperhand.
