Aesha Amin 09-26-2019 02:07 AM

Aesha was very close to losing it, but instead of allowing the Hogwarts boy to get to her head (which was clearly his intention), she simply sipped on her water instead. Karma would teach him a lesson or too soon enough.

And then it began.

The chorus of quacking heightened in numbers, as did the feathers. Patches of feathers also began to appear on her own arms and when they did, she immediately threw her cup on the ground in shock. What was even more shocking, however, was the accusation from the Hogwarts' Prefect [Lissy Longbottom]. "Madame, my whole body is sprouting feathers," Aesha's voice filled with concern as she turned to address her Headmistress. "And the Hogwarts' students, they are unjustly pointing blame."

Take that.

The Narrator 11-10-2019 12:41 AM

The fire was wasting no time working its way through the flora. There were patches of flames with more springing up. It spread throughout the garden, not just affecting the roses but indeed the entire garden. Soon it would begin to spread throughout the mountain side.

A warmth washes over the grounds, betraying the light chill of the approaching evening. Smoke rises in thick, puffy clouds, threatening to soon obscure the newly awakening stars.

If this was going to be dealt with, it was better to get a start on it now.

FearlessLeader19 11-10-2019 02:07 AM

Yes, Claudine had snuck out of Beauxbatons and was headed towards the Rose Garden. Yes, she also recalled that she was forbidden to enter the Garden again but what did she care? Her usual school bag was slung over her shoulders but instead of containing textbooks and notebooks, it contained her sketchpad, coloured pencils and other stationery she would need. Her aim that evening was to sketch the night sky while she sat among the roses.

That was, until she saw the smoke spiraling into the air. A horrified gasp escaped her and without thinking she picked up her pace by running towards the Garden. Eyes wide, she stopped at the entrance and stared around. This time, it was obvious: she had not started this fire.

The heat was what snapped her out of her daze. She had to do something! All Claudine could do was hope that someone would see the smoke; she was terrified that if she left to fetch help, she wouldn’t be able to try to stop the blazes. Her Hungarian Horntail heartstring wand was whipped out.

”Ignus Extinctus,” Claudine said loudly, trying to ignore the heat and at the same time tracing a huge figure eight with her wand. That foamy, white substance shot towards the nearest patch of roses.

Was it even wise of her to stay here and attempt to put the flames out?

Claudine didn’t know.

The poor roses though...

Charely Potter 11-10-2019 01:56 PM

Elisa didn't really feel any desire to help out Beauxbatons after a bias spectacle was made out of it. There was also no fierce loyalty within her to follow the Headmaster's command to help put out the fire. Yet here she was heading towards the rose garden, she couldn't quite explain what drove her to head towards the smoke other than something needing to be done.

When she arrived she could see a first-year already attempting to vanquish the blaze. Suddenly, she felt pressure in her eyes with tears pouring out as she saw a familiar arrangement of roses and flowers briefly before she shut her eyes. No... focus. It was not the first time she ventured into the Rose Garden but her time there was always short for this reason. Extending her wand arm out she focused her intent on water, Aqua Eructo. She wanted a jet of stream strong enough to subside the smoke but not destroy the plants. Focusing her will as she wordlessly conjured the spell as a stream of water poured out of her wand in the direction.

Nordic Witch 11-10-2019 02:12 PM

Cole followed in Headmaster Trent's wake as he left for the Rose Garden. A spreading fire was everyone's business since it could cause horrible damage to both property and people. At a jog the blond fourth year youth entered the garden and surveyed the scene. The fire was eating its way through the whole garden and not just burning up the flora. Elisa and Claudine we're already there trying to put the fire out. Pulling his wand out Cole hurried over to stand next to Elisa aiming his wand at the fire casting firmly "Aqua Eructo!" hoping that a jet stream of water would stop the fire. It would take more than two casted water spells that was for sure. Hopefully inhaling the smoke that was billowing around wasn't going to be hazardous. To Claudine he called over since the firstie was too close to the fire for his liking and he didn't want to see her hurt. "Claudine move away from those roses. Come over to us. The fire is getting too close to you..."

lazykitty 11-10-2019 03:58 PM

If she hadn't already made it clear enough, Dalia was totally against this. She was only here in case this got back to Papa Carter, she could honestly say she'd helped.

She hated being the one to state the obvious but.... "This is obviously a dragon, right?" she said to Claudine, Elisa and Cole who were already there. "I mean, a fire crab's too small to cause a fire this big and blast-ended skrewts have only been documented at Hogwarts so...." But then she remembered something else. "Unless it was a firedrake..."

Anyway, there was a fire that needed to be put out. "Aqua Eructo," she cast, aiming towards the fire, of course. Though, part of her was hoping that the palace of a castle would catch. Would serve the French right.

DaniDiNardo 11-11-2019 09:03 AM

Much as he wouldn't admit it aloud, he'd agreed with Ojeda back in the Inquisitorial Hall. Sure, it was relatively satisfying having the Headmistress knocked down a peg but now there was a whole fire...and they would have to deal with it. Was it truly so hard to have a normal school year? Er...mostly normal. Magic did beget magic but come on.

Malachi stopped short of the flames, glad none of the students had gone all the way in. "Hope not." To the dragon comment. They were entirely unprepared if this thing turned out to be a dragon. Those things were large and liked to eat everything in their path. Not a good combination with a bunch of kids.

The Headmaster shot out his own water spells but the idea of a creature lurking around never left his mind.

"Everyone remain alert. We don't know for certain what's around here and we're not taking any casualties on behalf of the French." Something he hoped Desmarais heard. If this got out of hand, they weren't going to stick around and wait for it to hit mission critical.

BanaBatGirl 11-12-2019 12:31 AM

"Whew," Bernie coughed, fanning some of the smoke away from her. She had to admit, this place did NOT smell like roses right now. She could hardly see in front of her, but at least the fire was keeping this place somewhat warm.

"Aguamenti," the first-year cast, not at all sure of her spell nor where her wand was pointing. Wait... was Claudine out here, instead of at her trial? WHAT A FRIEND, HMMMPH.

Mathys de Nostredame 11-12-2019 01:48 AM

Silently berating himself as he flew down the steps, taking some at a leap and with the grace of a gazelle, the French man moved through the rose garden and leaped through a small wall of flames in hopeful hot pursuit of the creature. His eyebrows were singed just a bit, but he landed on the other side unscathed otherwise.

Kneeling down, his fingers caressed the grasses and burned bits flora. Smashing some of it between his fingers, his pressed his ashen fingers to his tongue and turned his head sharply to the left. There should be tracks around here somewhere, weighted and reptilian in form, or more destruction from its tail's wake if his hunch was not mistaken. Pushing himself up to stand, he drew his wand and proceeded forward while the heat from the fire scalded his profile.

"....t’es oů? T’es oů, mon tout-petit..."

Or, more likely, not-so-petite...

Aesha Amin 11-12-2019 03:43 AM

Aesha quickly excused herself from the rest of the group. They had very different objectives here. They were putting out a fire. Aesha was looking for a dangerous beast. One that was illegally smuggled into the castle. One they were SUPPOSED to keep hidden. One that could very much get her expelled.

It was true that the burning flowers were a decent distraction, but that could only be for the time being. How long would it last with the aid of magic? Surely the fire would be put out rather easily. This meant that time was fleeting, as were the chances of escaping this mess without being caught.

If she could find it first, they'd be set.

Luc Vayssičre 11-12-2019 02:34 PM

Luc Vayssičre was beginning to worry. Something he didn't do all that often.

When they reached the burning rose garden, he split up from Aesha figuring it would be better, that they'd have more chance of finding it, if they covered more ground. They had to find it before one of the others did. But then that begged the question, what they were going to do if they DID find it? He hadn't thought that far ahead yet.

He did have a plan in place should someone else find it first though. Deny everything. Maybe even point fingers at his schoolmates. That seemed to have done the trick so far.

TakemetotheBurrow 11-12-2019 07:32 PM

Cecelia felt like a fire fighting REBEL because she was NOT supposed to be in this garden per orders of the headmistress. Thing WAS, she supposed all bets were off with the roses burning and the headmistress begging for help and all. So HERE she was, Cecelia Elizabeth Summers, wand in hand, doing the VERY thing that had gotten her into trouble in the first place.

"Aguamenti!"

It didn't escape her notice that the Beauxbatons students had arrived and didn't seem to be putting out any of the fire. THAT was curious, wasn't it? HM. The first year, wondering why AND curious about the creature causing this mess, deciding to multitask. She could follow that older girl AND put out the fire, too. LOOK AT HER GO.

""Aguamenti," She said more quietly as she began tailing the girl.

FearlessLeader19 11-12-2019 11:50 PM

Claudine was so relieved that others had arrived, including her Headmaster. This was one of those rare moments that she was actually pleased to see other humans. The majority of them seemed to be intent on using Aqua Eructo but she had never even tried to cast that one, ever. She would be sticking with what she had mastered, and thanks to her Head of House, that was Ignus Extinctus. When Cole called to her, the Snakette narrowed her eyes at him because she wasn’t one to be bossed around. But the heat… and Cole was right: she was close to the flames. The Snakette quickly moved towards the Hogwartians, though now her steely gaze had moved to the French students. Her dislike for them was strong.

The first year came to a stop beside Bernie. “I don’t know…’’ was her reply to Dalia. "But what I do know is that I did not start this fire, Headmaster Trent.’’ She didn’t care if he didn’t believe her because quite frankly, Claudine was ready to fight to prove her innocence.

Felixir 11-13-2019 07:33 AM

After a momentary deliberation, Kaiser had made the decision to follow the group to the rose garden. He had been fully intending to go back to his dormitory, or maybe somewhere else entirely like the roof, because he certainly wasn't forgiving enough to want to help. It was more than likely that he wouldn't have come along if it was anyone but Trent giving the instructions.

But, here he was, and Kaiser supposed he should help with the fire. Sure, he had been willing to leave everyone else to deal with it - and the search for whatever had caused it - but there was a big difference between that and being stood right in front of the destructive flames and doing absolutely nothing. He was a bad person, yes, but he wasn't that bad.

Drawing his wand, Kaiser was about start helping with the extinguishing efforts using the spell Fuller-Thompson had taught them, when something caught his eye. "That is interesting," he said, watching the retreating back of one of the Beauxbatons students who looked to him, at least from this distance, like they weren't even attempting to put out the fire. Interesting for sure, given this was their school under threat, though Kaiser was careful not to throw out an overt accusation (not that he even knew what accusation he would have made). It had already been proven that that sort of thing didn't go down well.

Turning his attention back to the fire and the immediate issue, he added his own Ignus Extinctus to the onslaught of spells.

BanaBatGirl 11-13-2019 11:40 PM

Bernie also noticed the French students doing their...... French things? Avoiding the fire? Sneaking away? Fleeing the scene of the crime? Oui. All of j'above.

"I bet THEY started this," she announced loudly, hoping to catch the Headmaster's ear with her tone. She scooted Trent's way just in case as she continued to aim her trickle of water at the fire. "We all know THEY ruined the ball and just blamed us. This 'FIRE' is probably another STUPID PRANK from whatever STUPID CREATURE they brought to school this year." And look, there went Nostredame now to look for it.

It was probably a gargoyle dragon. Bernie nodded to Claudine. "Did you see any gargoyle-dragon babies out here while you were avoiding my trial?" That's right, Claudine was an Avoider. Bernie knew it 'cos she was a Seeker. That's what the quiz in her Teen Witch magazine had said!

DaniDiNardo 11-14-2019 12:16 AM

"I know." Was the Headmaster's simple but distracted response when Blaze tried to plea her innocence. This, for one, was beyond the scope of a First Year and while he was aware she wasn't allowed in here (and defying a direct order because rules were just so hard to follow) the man had much bigger fish to fry than a kid who couldn't follow simple instructions.

The rose garden was burning rapidly. MUCH bigger things here.

Funny he didn't take much note of the French students until Grantham's outburst. "We'll point fingers after." He told her, setting water to another patch of roses that indeed didn't deserve this fate. Desmarais was a lot of things, but the man had taken several strolls through the garden. It was magnificent. Worth the effort of protecting.

"Blaming now might distract us too much to handle the situation adequately." Yet another thing from his lessons they could apply now. Remaining focused on the task to avoid dying.

Except....he couldn't shake the way those students were clearly LOOKING for something....or the way even Mathys seemed more concerned with the creature than the garden. It was unsettling to say the least.

The Narrator 11-14-2019 12:28 AM

The fire began to take on varying shapes as if something moved through it. Whatever it was, it was getting closer to the group of firefighters at quite the alarming speed. In the dark of the evening, it's hard to make out at first but once the creature rears up on its legs, wings spread wide it creates a silhouette against the flames.

It is the unmistakable form of a dragon, one that has done quite a bit of growing since it first arrived at Beauxbatons.

Black scales make it all but impossible to see it in detail but the yellow eyes are all the more noticeable. It bowls over those in its path Cecelia, Kaiser and Mathys) before rearing up again. It is not a fully grown dragon, in fact it can be no older than a year--a big baby dragon in truth. Fire boils up from its throat, illuminating the immediate area but just as quickly, it swallows it in favour of an awkward half bound half fly towards two of its mothers. (Aesha and Luc).

It had gotten free of it's holding cage. Did they know it was dinner time?

Giselle Desmarais 11-14-2019 12:55 AM

"My Rooooziiizzzzz!!!" Giselle shrieked in dismay as they got to the burning garden. Her prides. Her precious babies. Who or what would have done such a thing?? What was a severe enough punishment to ensure anyone else who got this idea thought twice???

The woman didn't know where to begin. It was all overwhelming and for a time, all she could do was yell instructions to the Hogwarts students. "Yes! Yes! Zhere! Get ze flamez over zhere!! Don't forget zhat patch--no no, 'urry! Zhey are in paaaiinnnn, 'urry!"

Her heart. She wasn't sure how much of this she could stand to watch.

Then the monster appeared. Her eyes widened immensely at what was obviously a dragon. Here?? At Beauxbatons?! It couldn't be! And yet....there it was, now going after her students.

"Mes chers! Look out! It iz coming! 'elp! 'elp zhem!"

Oh dear oh my how had it gotten to this??

Cassirin 11-14-2019 02:40 AM

Phoebe was shadowing Kaiser, because he was her HERO and he always kept her safe and was super perfect in every way, amen. So she ducked when he was bowled over by a dark shape, rolling to the side just in time to spot the dark shape spread its wings in the smoke.

It's own smoke. Pint sized dragon! Dragon! "Dragon," Phoebe managed to whisper. And then louder, "DRAGON." Phoebe rolled to her knees and somehow had the presence of mind to stay (some what) quiet and not to flail at the dragon. Not a snack James. That's what they called her.

"That dragon thinks those two deeply unattractive French kids are for dinner," she whispered to... whoever would listen to her. "SOMEONE SAVE THEM."

BanaBatGirl 11-14-2019 02:54 AM

P for Phoebe, H for Hoebe, O for Oebe, E for Ebe, B for Bebe, E for 'Ello there, mate

Per usual, Bernadette the Seer was C O R R E C T!

When were these wizards going to give her the respect and credit she deserved??! Someone could have written a book about her first year here.

Still mostly hiding behind Trent, the first year shook her fist and her wand (which was truly acting like a weak garden hose) toward the D R A G O N that popped up.

"IT'S A DRAGON,"
the first year repeated Phoebe, nodding along to her housemate's description of the French kids. Yes, yes, they were ugly. The French kids were an example of what was on the outside being just as awful as THEIR CHARACTER ON THE INSIDE. However, she disagreed with Phoebe about something: "BUT DON'T SAVE THEM! THEY DID THIS!" Did the Headmaster hear her? He wasn't going to help them, right? She liked him. She didn't want him to be baby!dragon food. He shoulda just taken them all back to Hogwarts like TONIGHT instead of voluntelling them to go help in the rose garden.

If anyone were to help them out their self-created conflagration, it should be THEIR Headmistress! The Roziz Lover! No no, Bernie was not busy blaming anyone. She was just stating the facts loudly for all to hear. She wasn't distracted AT ALL. Who could look at anything except that brilliant but terrifying dragon baby?!

Samia 11-14-2019 10:43 AM

Missa wanted to point out the French kids were not helping. Even with the wild fire around, she somehow still wanted to point out how wrongly they had been accused - there needed to be consequences. She felt petty enough, after all.

But then ..

....

There was a DRAGON.

There was an actual D R A G O N.

Mid water spell, she STARED at the thing as it flew, majestic and bold, --- toward the French kids?? "WATCH OUT" she shrieked at the two, honestly terrified for them. They needed to suffer for their lies but to become dragon dinner? They deserved it but not maybe not as much.

TakemetotheBurrow 11-14-2019 10:52 PM

Holy hippogiffs, a baby dragon ! ! ! ! ! !

Okay but did ANYONE know how much of a DREAM COME TRUE this was?! Cecelia LOVED dragons JUST like her MUM loved them and she JUST wanted to tell everyone not to be scared and to be calm, but ALL she could manage was a, "Shhhhh, you'll scare 'im! He doesn't know any better. Just look, he can't even fly properly yet." Or her. It COULD be a her. It could. And it was just a baaaaby. Also, if everyone wanted to avoid being eaten, they really needed to stop panicking and start listening to the creatures professor who she ASSUMED would have a plan. If her MUM was here, SHE'D know what to do. She knew Eiji's mum would know, too! She really WISHED they WERE here because this baby dragon seemed like it needed more space than what it currently had and more love and LESS Beauxbatons meanies in his OR her life.

...A dragon.

Maybe she actually DID like it here. Sneaking back into the rose garden to fight fires had TOTALLY been worth it.

aRogueOne 11-14-2019 11:28 PM

Why was he doing this? Why was he doing this? Was all Ewan could think as he got closer to the Rose Garden, the flames now taking various shapes as he got closer and closer until…

“What in Merlin’s…a dragon? A DRAGON!!!”

Freezing, he just stared from afar as the firefighters tried their best to wrestle the flames into submission. “How on earth had it managed to get into the school?” he whispered under his breath as his eyes followed it, watching as it bounded towards Aesha and Luc, the witless wondering of Beauxbaton. Despite how intimidating the dragon was, Ewan couldn’t help but marvel at those big yellow eyes that shone out from the smoke and flames around the dragon.

Running now, not really considering the consequences, he moved towards the dragon and the two children that it was barrelling towards, his wand out ready. In all honesty, he wasn’t sure what made him try to help them because anyone in that farce of a trial knew he was less than fond of the two just from the look he gave both of them but, here he was again, running towards danger. For a Ravenclaw, he sure was stupid. Stopping a few metres away from them, he aimed his wand up at the dragon and waited for it’s next move, ready to hit it with a conjunctivitis curse if it moved any closer.

FearlessLeader19 11-14-2019 11:55 PM

What trial? Bernie received a questioning and confused look from Claudine. The Snakette had been out here on the Grounds for sometime now. “You’ll have to catch me up to speed with whatever trial you’re on about, Bernie, but as for any gargoyle-dragon, no, I haven’t seen.’’ She was very out of the loop about recent happenings apparently. “Wait… is that what caused this fire?” That certainly would explain why Trent was not expelling her right now and he claimed to instead believe her. Relief washed over her.

That relief only lasted for about a second. Claudine’s gaze had been fixed on the flames and smoke; the smoke was making shapes. Huh? She did a double take in time to see it zoom towards the group. “Look out!’’ she shouted and pointed. “Dragon!’’ Bernie had been right. It was a dragon! OH MERLIN!

In her haste to get out of its way, without realising it Claudine had grabbed onto Bernie’s wand-free arm.Bernie, Bernie, you were right!’’ And she was with her friend on the Beauxbatons students' matter: “You know you want to gobble them up, Dragon!’’ she called loudly. Their bat-crazy Headmistress could be eaten too, for all she cared.

sweetpinkpixie 11-15-2019 02:12 AM

Eiji's eyes were particularly tuned towards one Luc Vayssičre but would deny anyone if they accused him of being on a witch hunt. If anything he was on a warlock hunt. So he picked up all too quickly that this Beauxbatons student and his classmates were much more concerned with finding this creature than they were helping. Truly, they were all outstanding at following instructions.

His own wand out, he had the odd urge to hold the older boy at wandpoint and demand a confession of some sort. But, honestly, the fifth year's gangly form was hardly intimidating and causing this sort of dispute in the middle of an inferno of sorts would help absolutely no one.

He glanced around for Missa just in time to see a DRAGON streak across the scene. "....you have GOT to be kidding me," he groaned. A dragon. And it was flying. Which meant that it was just about a year old now and had had half a year or so to perfect its fire breathing - something which explained all the fiery accidents this term and narrowed down a few things. The Ombrelune common room had been set on fire...so this dragon had been kept in there specifically. Or so he assumed.

So which of these French kids were in that house? The were the ring leaders of this operation.

His eyes narrowed at the dragon and his wand arm fell to his side. Despite growing up with dragons, he was even bottle feeding the hatchings himself by age five under his mum's supervision, he felt...absolutely no obligation to do anything to help. His mum would be disappointed, but he could deal with that and it wouldn't be the end of the world if she barred him from her little field trips to the Galloway Rehabilitation Reserve whenever he was home from school. Or from helping bake those meat cookies for the dragons themselves.

So it was, amidst all the screaming and shouting that Eiji just sort of....moved to stand off to the side.

Oh so very helpful, Rasting.
