Professor Noble's office

Linking the potions laboratory and the main classroom, and with doorways opening onto both in addition to the corridor, is a relatively narrow room with windows at the far end. Up until a few weeks ago, it had served as a preparation and utility area, where trays of ingredients and equipment and ingredients could be laid out ready until they were needed for class. The workbench along one side, complete with sink and drying racks, and the glass-fronted upper cupboards allude to this previous purpose.

Though he could have changed it had he wanted to, Noble had decided to keep the workbench as his desk, sitting at a swivelling bar stool, the set up reminiscent of his days as a post-graduate potioneer. A single photo frame sat alongside the books, quills and marking on the granite worktop, containing a photo of him and his step-daughter Abigail, taken at her university graduation over the summer; Noble was in a full Muggle suit and tie, clearly a very proud father.

The opposite wall had previously housed storage for cauldrons and other equipment, but Noble had removed these, magically widening the space to make a meeting area of sorts. There was an antique dark red Rococo sofa against the wall with a matching chair and coffee table, pieces from his personal collection that were in-fitting for decor of the castle but less so the current space. Still, they served as a place to address student problems (and problem students) in more comfort.

By far the best feature of this space, however, even in comparison to his office back at Hogwarts, was the natural light. It flooded through the tall windows, white rectangles framing a beautiful view of the mountains beyond, and making the small space look much bigger than it really was. Noble had set up his cauldron directly underneath the glass, regularly looking out thoughtfully as he brewed.

It wasn’t quite the office he’d choose - his French counterpart’s along the corridor being at least twice the size and exquisitely decorated - but for that view, he could make do.
