Grand Ballroom This is where a large bulk of the school's events are held. Tonight, it hosts the farewell ball for those who belong to Hogwarts. This is the widest room in the entire castle, fitted on three sides with wall windows and silk curtains. The floors are tiled and have anti slipping charms to prevent accidents on its exceptionally clean surface. |
Rowan had never quite been much of a dancer (or, never had the opportunity), nor a fan of dress robes... but he did love sweets. And there before him lay a table of them, seeming to sparkle before his eyes begging him to devour all of them. He told himself in his head to only take a few, but his hands weren’t following suit as he began piling a plate with all the treats that he could fit. With his plate of food, barely balancing, he made his way to an empty sofa and plopped down. He stared at the sweets for a brief second, appearing as if he was admiring them. He didn’t care how odd it looked - he couldn’t help it, it had been ages since he had something this good... so, he dug in, not bothering to savor anything as he quickly went from cake to cookie. |
Despite everything that went on, Elisa was at least grateful that the Ball was able to take place at last. She had been close to sending her dress robes back for a refund or giving it to Daisy for when she was older. It was a strange feeling, the divided tables weren't prominent and here she was all glammed up instead of wearing the school uniform robes. Not an unpleasant feeling but still strange. She wouldn't be returning here or the Hogwarts castle anymore after tonight except as an alumnus. At the moment, Elisa was feeling a bit famished from the nerves. She fixed herself a small plate, enough to satisfy her hunger while at the same time not leaving her incapable of movement. She planned to dance after all. Now.. she loitered around to see some familiar classmates, smiling kindly at the firstie nearby who was tucking into their food before she observed the sights again. |
Mention of Bernie ^_^ SPOILER!!: Rowan! Those dancing lessons the Hogwartians had had to endure earlier in the term? They would come in handy, just not for Claudine. Her keen eyes roved around the room, often lingering on a student, foreign or not. She was waiting to see if any of them would be making a fool of themselves by dancing if they were bad at it. The Snakette was sure she wasn't going to be busting out any of her horrible moves. It didn't matter that Bernadette was there on the dance floor. Now, however, her serious gaze was fixed on that Hufflepuff seated not so far from her. Was he really going to eat all of that? It would be entertaining to see him try... and end up puking. |
So the ball was taking place, was it? Good thing Analiese decided not to send her dress back to the store. She was very close to doing so. She glanced up at the decorations. They still looked nice - even after the "zhey were zhe only ones zhere" incident. Eventually, her eyes fell in the tables of food. Finally, some good food! She hated the stupid policy that meant they had to eat all healthy foods. Cakes, crepes, even a mini chocolate fountain! She would keep the eating for later though, as she didn't want to dance on a full stomach. To think that this was their last night in France - to be honest, she didn't really want to leave. All of the French students and Desmarais had become nicer now. And she liked the castle. But the Beauxbatons students and Hogwarts students couldn't stay in the same living area for a long time, considering the fact that it now held at least twice the amount of students it was originally built to house. |
This ball had required that Kaiser "borrow" some clothes. For the one that was supposed to have gone on, back in February, he had dithered for long enough other whether he would go that he'd not sorted anything to wear before... everything happened... at which point there was no longer any need. This time around, he'd stealthily duplicated the suit jacket, tie, and shoes of a similarly built acquaintance of his - there had been no real need to ask them outright. Add that to his school trousers and shirt, and he had a decent enough suit. He'd even combed his hair. Kaiser was sure he'd have been able to get formal-ish clothes of his own from Mrs Stemp - he knew there was a clothing allowance for kids like him, though whether he was now too old for it, he had no idea - but it just seemed like a total waste to potentially spend it on something he'd barely ever wear. Especially when he could get such clothes through alternative means. No. It was better off spent on something useful. Practical. Tugging his sleeves self-consciously towards his hands, and ruffling his hair (negating the whole combed situation), Kaiser entered the ballroom. He had little - if any - intention of dancing. Mostly, he was here for the food, and for a final opportunity to spend some time with friends or acquaintances who wouldn't be returning to school next year. But there were plenty of people he did not want to find himself in the vicinity of, too, so he was keeping vigilant as to exactly who was around him. After a cursory glance around the ballroom, Kaiser skirted the dance floor and ended up, predictably enough, by the food. Glorious food, at that. Kaiser had never been a picky eater and he'd coped perfectly fine with all the healthy stuff this year, but it was great to see a more indulgent spread that symbolised the fact that they were almost free from this place. He began piling a plate with a little bit of everything. If he was busy eating, it was less likely that someone would try to encourage him to dance. Not that he was expecting any requests, but it was better to be prepared. |
open post (but I'm a slow guy) Yolanda Luna felt like a princess in all her pink lace and taffeta. It was wonderful, the ball was back, the older kids had been acquitted, and summer was just a few weeks away. It was like the end of a very good book, except all the better because they'd continue on and on, able to enjoy every bit of this good ending. She twirled on her heel, her dress dancing around her like a flower's petals as she twisted, and turned through the ballroom, stopping only as she reached the food table. The Hufflepuff was not hungry hungry, but those little pastries looked too tempting to deny. Yoyo smoothed down the layers of her dress, her painted fingers checking her hair in it's ballerina bun. All secure. All carefully in place, and now that she felt properly pretty, Yoyo plucked up a tiny cherry tart and took a delicate little bit, her cheeks tinged pink as the brightly sour flavor coated her tastebuds. Worth it! |
SPOILER!!: Claudineee As he began feasting on a crepe, he couldn't help but feel self-aware as more students began to trinkle in. So much so that he could have sworn he felt eyes on him, right as the powdered sugar on his crepe dusted his dress robes. Thank Merlin it wasn't the strawberries on his robes, or his mother would kill him. He wiped away at his mouth, embarrassed as he glanced up to see another firstie eyeing him. How could she judge? He couldn't help himself, he had been craving sweets all year... he laughed nervously, and gave her a shrug. "Aren't you going to eat something?" he asked, gesturing to the table still filled with food. 'Cos he definitely wasn't sharing. |
open post... :) Of all the things that happened to them this entire school year, a ball seems unlikely and yet here they are. Jillian was happy that she brought her dress with her and did not at all- thought of bringing it back. She finally got to hang it in her cabinet earlier this morning. She managed to get ready smooth and easy and hopped her way to the ball. She's eager to eat, dance, drink and walk around until her feet are tired. Truth be told she is going to miss this place despite of the events that happened. She will miss the fact that this place is always clean and fancy. She walked around with her red dress and entered the ballroom. The place was pretty and wide. She tugged on the cloth, squeezing it and taking a deep breath plus she's wearing heels so she's just hoping not to trip on the train of her dress. Of course she spotted familiar people there but she needed a drink... badly. Or food as a sort of distraction because she does not handle being in a crowd very well. She waddled her way towards the table and her eyes roamed around for the nearest beverage she can find. Taking a sip of the nice, tasty bubbly Jillian loitered near the table and just looked around. It was easy to spot people from where she is standing. |
Mentions of Claudine and Bernadette :) So the ball was going to happen after all. Blake didn't want to admit that he was rather excited about it. He was determined to use the dancing skills he had learned earlier in the year .. minus the broken nose part. He would much rather forget about that. Arriving on the dance floor Blake took a look around. He was looking for Bernadette to be honest ... she was the only one he had ever danced with and thought maybe she would again..... okay he hoped she would so he wouldn't be sitting here by himself the whole time. Noticing Claudine, Blake was unsure what to do. Does he go talk to his |
Who serves roast ham and beef when there are no tables to sit at? That was the question occupying Daila's mind while standing at the food table. Not anything about how she wished that the French kids had to watch as they had a good time while decked out in their finest as it would serve them right for costing them the original ball and (more importantly) almost getting them cast out in the cold. Nope, nothing petty like that. Speaking of the previously canceled ball, she was wearing the dress she'd originally planned to wear to said event, even though it was more appropriate for a winter event and it was now spring. Ooo, was that a chocolate fountain? She picked up a strawberry and held it carefully under the flowing sweet treat for a few moments before popping it into her. Mmmm. It tasted even better after not being able to have it for months. |
Rowan and Blake ^_^ Observing humans was something Claudine liked to do, whether or not said humans under observation noticed her or not. The habit of hers helped her to judge and know people; it made up for her other habit of not talking very much. She decided that the Hufflepuff could be a messy eater. Just look at all that powdered sugar he was wearing on his robes. To be fair, crepes could be messy. But just why was he laughing? If Claudine recalled correctly, from lessons, his name was Rowan. She lifted a brow at him. “Maybe. And maybe I’ll skip the crepes.’’ Claudine’s gaze shifted away from Rowan to that all too familiar form of Blake Ryan. She had managed to avoid him despite the fact that they shared a common room. That’s the way she liked things between them: to be distant with each other. Unfortunately, that was less likely to happen when they were in class. Claudine looked away from him, refocusing on Rowan. “Anything else on the menu that you would recommend? Something that’s not likely to spill on my dress?’’ |
SPOILER!!: Alliii Skip the crepes? Rowan was a little shocked, but alas, everyone had their different preferences. He gave her an understanding nod, even though he didn't understand not wanting crepes. Maybe she was grossed out by his messiness? He wouldn't be surprised... "Well, there's a lot of good food," he said thoughtfully, glancing at the table of food again. "I only got the sweets myself," he chuckled. "But it looks like there's some dinner stuff too... some roast ham... have you eaten much today?" he asked, looking back at the girl. It was important to eat, y'know. |
Phoebe looked like a fluffy pink cloud, and she was DELIGHTED with her dress. She wanted to dance and spin and bop and generally work her feet off before the night was over. But then she saw the food table, and now all she wanted to do was shove food into her mouth. No more veggie plates and ancient grains and TOFU. "CREPES. I missed you. Did you miss me? I bet you did. I bet every day you sat in the kitchen and wondered where I was," Phoebe steadily stuffed crepes into her dress until she was shedding crumbs and flakes of pastry with every step. |
SPOILER!!: Claudine and Rowan Having not seen Bernadette to ask to dance .. maybe she wasn't here yet ... or maybe he just couldn't spot here amongst the sea of bodies present at the dance. Blake took a deep breath and headed over to Claudine ... at least he knew her. She was talking to a boy that Blake had maybe seen around the school, but had never talked to. Good, maybe the boy could be a buffer between them since ... well you know it never went well between the two of them. "Hey Claudine, fancy meeting you here." He smiled and waved at her. Turning toward the gentleman with her. "Hey, I'm Blake, nice to meet you." He stuck his hand out for a shake. "Are you Claudine's date?" Blake smiled .. he knew just how to push Claudine buttons. This poor fellow was just caught in the wake. But that got Blake to thinking ... should he have brought a 'date' ... did 1st year even 'date' ... ugh stupid girls....... always turning his mind in the wrong directions. |
Frands SPOILER!!: Yoyo and Fifi Octavia Stark was READY to dance. She had on dancing shoes (fun fact: all shoes were dancing shoes) and she even knew how to dance to this music! She liked wrock music a lot more, but this was cool too because she was at a BALL. Not a ball for her mum or one of her grandmother’s fancy events. This wasn’t even something for her papa or the band, this was HER first real almost grownup ball! In a REAL fairy tale castle! It really was too bad Flynn wasn’t here to sweep her off her feet, but look! Fi and Yoyo where here. She could sweep them off THEIR feet. ”Why are you both eating? We have to dance! Come on!” Tavie didn’t give them much time to think or argue, she was already taking them both by the hand and pulling them along eagerly. |
Quote:
"But we're done eating all this stupid French food, and that food might be gone tomorrow. We have to make sure we get all we want..." Phoebe trailed off as Tavie pulled them toward the floor. Yup, Tavie always got what she wanted, and if she wanted to dance, Phoebe was done with her food gathering. |
