The Tower Patch At the top of the north tower some ways down from the Astronomy classroom is a large rooftop garden that has been expanded in memory of the late Marion Burbage, substitute professor of Astronomy. Lush green hedges and flower beds line the perimeter of the area and a large fountain greets you towards the opposite end. Located to the left of the fountain is a stone plaque engraved with words from former Headmistress Truebridge herself which reads : |
For Saz Hale/Ashleigh! (Anyone can join!) Rylee had first stopped at the music room only to find it occupied by someone she didn't know. While normally she didn't mind anyone joining her if she was in there first she wasn't sure if whoever was currently in there now would want her company. From the music that had come from inside it sounded like whoever was playing was very much into what they had been doing. So rather than knock she continued on her own way to find a quiet spot to practice. Which led her up to the Tower Patch. Being it was nearly December there shouldn't be many people up there if anyone at all. Scanning the area quickly and not seeing anyone, Rylee first cast a warming charm upon herself and than on the ground near the large Lion topiary before sitting herself down. On her left side she set down her bag containing anything she might need, a snack, drink, blanket. She always came prepared nowadays. Who knew what she would need or when she might need it. On her right side she set down her violin case, removing her violin she settled it against her shoulder and chin, picked up her bow and began to play. |

Rylee paused in her practicing, setting the bow down on her lap when she heard someone complimenting her playing. "Thank you, I'm still learning." Her playing wasn't anywhere close to amazing but at least it wasn't absolutely dreadful anymore either. Practicing whenever she had the time really did wonders for her and not to mention all the help she was getting was a huge plus. "Do you play?" she asked curiously only knowing the girl from lessons mostly. |

Ohhhh, this girl played the flute! Flutes were nice and sounded really pretty if you knew how to play them correctly. Which she herself, did not. Only the girl hadn't brought it along with her to Hogwarts. "That's okay. I'm sure there's a flute or two in the music room that you could use to practice on when you have the time." Many students used that room all the time. Including herself. "How long have you been playing the flute?" Surely long enough that the girl felt she didn't need to bring it along with her and practice all the time. |

Rylee smiled. "That's a long time. I bet you must be really good at it?" To be playing the same instrument all those years it made sense if she was really good. "I've only been playing for about two years." Not all that long but long enough to learn a fair bit. "It's nice to meet you, Ash. I'm Rylee Prichard." She was welcome to just call her Rylee though like everyone else did. "You're a transfer, right?" she asked after a moments thought. She was pretty sure she had seen her get sorted at the start of term feast. |

Getting better the more she played was why she was practicing in the first place. Practice made perfect. Not to mention playing helped clear her head and was a great alternative to doing absolutely nothing at all. "I have people that help me when I need it." Both while here at school and also at home. Rylee smiled softly. "From Japan? What was it like going to school there? Was it very different than Hogwarts?" She was sure that it was but getting to learn about other wizarding schools from someone in person was much different than reading about it in a book. |

Rylee listened intently to what Ash had to say which wasn't really all that much. "I suppose it does make the most sense to attend whichever school is closest to where your family is living." She herself knew she would feel best staying closer to home but that wasn't the same for everyone. "How are you liking Hogwarts so far?" |
