To get to Defence Against the Dark Arts, History of Magic, or Muggle Studies, one will have to make use of the first floor corridor. Getting here is usually relatively easy if you're coming from one of the lower levels of the castle as you need only deal with the moving staircases for just a few minutes. Rugs with intricate patterns have been placed on the floor to soften your footsteps so that any learning going on inside the classrooms isn't disturbed.
Make sure you are not dilly dallying on your way to or from class. This corridor in particular is often times filled with students during the school day and a few professors pointing those who have managed to get lost in the right direction. Various doors flank this corridor, so make sure to memorize which of the portraits are outside of the classrooms you should be entering. And don't freak out when the corridor comes to a sudden halt -- the door at the end of the hallway will take you outside to the stone bridge and then to the rest of the first floor over in the next tower. Just keep moving!

So, things Nettie needed to work on next term - organization. When it came to homework assignments, she did pretty good with the ones that were due in like, two days. But these long term assignments? She'd basically forgotten ALL about them. Now she was running around like a crazy person, asking people to help her read their feet.
Read. Their. Feet. What a weird sentence.
Thankfully, Maddie had agreed to help her with her assignment, and if Maddie ALSO needed people to help her with her assignment, she had just painted her nails so it would be perfect. They'd agreed to meet in one of the corridors because...well, was there really ANY good place to take off your shoes and look at each other's feet? They weren't in the same dorm so it made it a little difficult.

School bag in hand, Maddie made her way from the Hufflepuff Common Room to the first floor corridor. She'd been looking for another person to do a foot reading on, and lo and behold, Nettie's letter had arrived. Maddie had sent an owl back to her, and here they were! She was ready to get this over with. Not hanging out with Nettie--that was the cool part. The not so cool part was having to study and analyze another person's feet.
The third year wandered along the corridor looking for her friend. Finally, she happened to turn a corner and see her up ahead. "Hey, Nettie!" she said. "Ready to have your feet read?" She gave a joking-type laugh then tossed her bag to the floor. She sat cross-legged next to it and began taking out her materials. After that, she took off her left shoe and sock and sat it off to the side. "Don't worry. My feet don't stink." She laughed again. This was such a weird assignment!

Nettie laughed as Maddie approached and nodded. "Mine don't either, so we're good!" she added with a grin. She sat down and took her right shoe off, thankful that she'd had the foresight to not wear her usual tights today and go with socks instead.
"So um...you wanna go first?" she asked, moving her foot so she could take it and do the reading. "Just don't tickle me. I can't guarantee I won't accidentally kick you in the face if you do," she chuckled.

Maddie smiled when she saw Nettie's feet. Well, her toenail polish, that is! "I love your nail polish color," she said. Maddie's own toenails were painted neon pink, a color she'd put on when the Hufflepuffs had that pedicure party in the common room. She nodded. She could go first. She laughed when Nettie asked her not to tickle her. "Don't worry. I'm not planning on touching your feet much at all. Especially if you're going to kick me." Even though she knew Nettie had been kidding.
Maddie grew silent then and began to study Nettie's feet. "Okay, so I think you have what's a 'Common or Rome Foot'. It means you're really social and outgoing," she said, which was true. "Your arches don't look flat at all, so I'd say you have a high arch. It means you really think logically about things." That made sense, since Nettie was a Ravenclaw.
She moved on from looking at Nettie's feet in general and instead paid attention to her toes. "Okay, I'm going to analyze your big toe, your second toe, and your little toe," she said. "Your big toe represents joy, and since it's the largest of your toes, it means you'll have lots of joy in your life. Your second toe represents your wishes and desires. It's also a little longer, which means you have good ideas and like to be in charge." She had no idea if any of this was true about Nettie, but that's what the textbook said. "There's really nothing in the book about your little toe. I guess it's just a regular toe. Little toes do mean it's difficult for you to express an emotion, though. Fear, in this case."
On that note, Maddie was done, and she reached for her quill and parchment to take some notes. "All done," she said.

Foot reading number #: 2 Who are you doing the foot reading on: Trinetta Gladin Chosen Foot (left/right?): Right Feet characteristics (cracked, swollen, flat etc?) and meanings: Nettie has what's called a 'Common or Rome Foot'. It means she's really social and outgoing. She also has high arches, which means she really thinks logically about things. I thought this fit perfectly, since Nettie is a Ravenclaw. Toe characteristics (round, crooked, big, small etc?) + meanings:
- First toe: The big toe on your right foot represents joy, and since it's the largest of her toes, it means she'll have lots of joy in her life.
- Second toe: The second toe represents a person's wishes and desires. Nettie's is a little longer, which means she has good ideas and likes to be in charge.
- Fifth toe: There was really nothing specific in the book about Nettie's fifth toe. To me, it just looked like a regular toe. I told her that little toes do mean it's difficult for you to express an emotion, though. Fear, in the case of the right foot. General reflections on what your foot says about your personality or your peers/staffers: I think most of the foot reading does relate to what I know about Nettie. She's always friendly and outgoing. Every time I see her, she's always ready to talk! She's also a Ravenclaw, which would make sense that she thinks logically about things. I know she has good ideas, because she seems to do well in classes. I'm not sure if she likes to be in charge, though. Most of the reading did relate to her, though.
