Default Divination Lesson 1: Feet Frenzy!

When you climb up through the trap door and into the circular divination classroom your are met on this very late day in November, in the morning after breakfast with the sight of the usual round tables, chintz armchairs and fat coloured pouf's. What is out of the ordinary that makes you stop to ponder is the skeleton dummy in the corner and the many large sacks on the floor that are titled with ceramic clay, odd looking containers and something is lying under a blanket on one of the tables and the lighting is better than usual.

Professor Vance can be seen, sitting in her usual high chair with a floral tea cup in hand, a novel in her lap, and slippers on her feet near the front. Behind her on the blackboard a message is written in her distinct cursive handwriting "Please find yourselves a place to sit and try a fortune cookie or two that can be found on your tables. Class will begin momentarily."

The curtains over the windows are drawn back to give in extra light and the air isn't as stuffy with incense as usual which is welcomed by many and peculiar to some. Come on in students!

OOC: Welcome to this terms first Divination Lesson! This is not the first lesson IC. There have been plenty of lessons before this one. Please have your student's arrive and react to what they see and smell and if they are willing eat a fortune cookie or two. Class will start in 24 hours @ approx 7pm GMT+2 on Wednesday May 30th. Try to keep chatting to a minimum. Have fun and if you haven't then familiarize yourself with the Divination and Snitchseeker rules.

Class Progression:
Greetings + First Question: Name One body part and its corresponding method name that can be used in readings.
Individ responses + Second Question: Give a guess as to why your student thinks Podomancy and Palmistry can be mixed up or some similiarities between the two methods.
Individ responses +Mini Activity: Make a clay foot imprint/cast of your students feet.
Student mentions + Main Practical: Read your toes and feet for your students futures and see if you think their personality fits with what your readings say.
Class dismissed!: Don't forget to take your foot casts with you on your way out.

Quinn entered, silent as usual and nodded in Professor Vance's direction. Her brow furrowed, curious, as she checked out every detail of interest, lingering much longer on the skeleton than any other detail.

Quinn had seen this room for months now, and yet, the small changes and extra light seemed to make it new and foreign. After a minute or two, she made her way to a round table off in the back corner and took a seat. She fidgeted with a fortune cookie while she ducked her head slightly trying to get a look at the title of the book the Professor was reading. Then she cracked open the fortune cookie and ate the pieces while reading her fortune. You will have bright days ahead.

Quinn rolled her eyes and picked up another cookie, fidgeting with it a bit.

Pretty much the main reason to Skylar's continued presence in Divination classes was due to the fact that it was taught by her head of house. Entering through the trap door, she wrinkled her nose slightly at the smell, even though she'd grown accustomed to it over the years and found a seat. Slippers? Was she supposed to wear slippers? Skylar glanced down at her usual flats and bit her lip.

"Afternoon, Professor Vance," she greeted quietly, so as to not disturb her terribly much from her reading. The captain read the note on the blackboard, took a seat and hesitantly cracked open one of the cookies. Although honestly, she wasn't really interested in the cookie so much as the message inside.

Move quickly. Now is the time to make progress.

Eh? She had been quick to send in her university applications, but did it refer to something else? She stared down at the words, pondering them before casting evanesco on her cookie. Again, not interested in eating it. Not due to lack of trust of Professor Vance, so much as she just simply wasn't hungry.

ooc: psst, we used this to get a fortune cookie, if anyone else interested ;D

Caleb is not a particularly good student in Divinations. The subject is quite complicated and needs a ton of experience to perfect it.

He finds himself walking inside the classroom. His eyes glued to the skeleton.

Peculiar.

He finds the professor with her tea. "Hello, Professor." he says in a rather low voice but enough for her to hear. She was reading after all. Best not to disturb her.

Another thing that caught his eyes are the fortune cookies laid out for them. Of course Caleb took one and carry along to find a seat.

Cracking the cookie open he reads his fortune. go with your gut feeling. Hmmm...

It may come in handy in the future. Most especially during exams.

Today was going to be a great day, she knew it, she just knew it. Unless she was wrong and it was going to be a terrible day. Ana shook her head as she headed down to the Divinations classroom. She had to snap out of that feeling and those thoughts. One of her goals this term besides getting good grades was to be more positive. Among tons of other goals that she had. Being positive about the day was a good start to her set of goals.

Anastasie walking into the classroom with what she needed to bring, as she was looking around for a seat she looked up at the chalkboard and read what was on it. "Good afternoon professor." Ana's voice was cheery for the first time in a few weeks. Seat. She needed a seat. Her green eyes looked around for the perfect place to sit, she's always been very particular about where she has to sit for classes. Maybe a seat in the front would do her good for once, maybe even keep her more focused.

Once she found a seat she looked at the fortune cookie on her desk. Ana started off with opening on cookie. She scrunched her nose as she read it.

"Love is right around the corner."

Nope. No. Love is not right around the corner. For that to happen she would have to socialize more. Okay. She was going to be opening another one to see if she got a better fortune.

"Work with what you."

That one was better but she didn't know how to work with what she has, how does one do that. See, this is why she's been setting goals! Maybe she was already working with what she has but at a slow pace.

Daehyun always felt nervous whenever he attended Divination classes. Kind of like flying, it was something he couldn't truly learn from books, and he most certainly did not possess an inner eye to see above and beyond- whatever it was that he should see. Sure, books offered various interpretations, but he had to see something in his readings to find an explanation for it. And he never did, he was quite hopeless.

As he stepped inside the classroom, he frowned at the slight changes, but soon shrugged it off and scanned the place for a good seat. He always opted for the tables in the back, and Quinn was already there. "Hello, professor," he said as he passed professor Vance, and headed towards the table where Quinn was seated.

"Hey," he said, sitting down at the same table, but one seat away from her. He had a feeling she'd probably comment on the unwanted company, but he liked to believe they were becoming... sort-of friends. Kind of.

Picking up a fortune cookie, he cracked it open and shoved it all in his mouth before reading the message. He might have snorted a little too loud upon seeing his fortune. Anxiety won't help your problems. Right it was, this fortune cookie.

Kye trudged into the classroom, thinking about her inevitable meltdown from her lack of sleep. There was a slight sting in her eye as she entered the classroom, but she managed a friendly greeting to her Head of House. "Good evening, Professor Vance," she said with the best smile she could muster. Kye found herself squinting a bit, partly because of her stinging eyes, but mostly because it was definitely brighter in here... She took a seat at a table near the side of the room and let her bag fall with a slight thud.

Her nose caught a scent and she looked at the table she had sat at. Hm? Oh, that made sense. Yes, laying before her were fortune cookies, and Kye felt hesitant at the thought of eating one. Too many flashbacks from previous classes! Professor Vance wouldn't do that though. Kye decided to brave it, and opened the cookie.

Love is right around the corner

HA! Well, it turns out the cookies were harmful after all... They were outright mocking her right now! Whatevee, cookie. Whatever. She tossed the rude little fortune aside, eating the cookie a bit reluctantly.

As Lydia walked into the classroom, she noticed Quinn and Daniel. She gave them each a bright smile before also greeting the professor. "Greetings, Professor Vance," she said very politely. "I hope you're well."

Even though she still thought of Divination as a dodgy subject at best, she could never say such things to Professor Vance. Even if she didn't fully believe in the subject, she was the type of person to give anything a chance, at least once, to convince her. Maybe this would be the lesson where her skepticism finally disappeared for good.

Lydia flopped down on a pouf near the back of the room. She didn't feel like being front and center, and Divination was one of the only subjects where she didn't participate much, not feeling very confident about the material. The other subject was Potions.

Noticing the fortune cookies on the table, Lydia opened one: Learn how to do something new today. Well, that certainly seemed appropriate for class.

Lydia wondered what lay underneath the blanket at the front of the room. There were also strange containers and sacks. Hmm, what was Professor Vance up to?

To some it might be a workout, but to Maddie, entering the Divination classroom was FUN. She always got a thrill out of climbing through a trap door! "Good morning, Professor!" she said, smiling despite the fact that Divination wasn't one of her most favorite classes. She liked it, it just didn't hold her interest the way some of the others did.

Before taking a seat, the third year eyed her surroundings, taking note of the skeleton, the sacks, the containers, and...something under a blanket. Creepy. She took a seat and scooped up a fortune cookie from the table. Maddie didn't usually eat the actual cookies. She just liked to see the message inside.

"Someone thinks the world of you."

Ohhh. Who? What a mystery!

There was still part of Stasya who wasn’t entirely sure about the subject of Divination, but she hadn’t dropped the subject (if she even could yet) and wasn’t quite determined to dislike the subject to think about it. Besides, she did like Professor Vance, and sometimes they did learn interesting things. Usually creature-related divination topics, but it still kept her coming. There was always the possibility of something interesting happening, and also, she felt an obligation to her house because prefect and all. She could always go visit the barns after class, and usually did.

Climbing up into the classroom, she allowed herself to get acclimated to the environment before moving toward her usual seat. Actually, it seemed less incense-y than usual, which made her curious. “Good morning, Professor Vance!,” she called out as she’d walked to her seat, giving the woman a smile. The slippers were noticed, but aside from a thought that they looked comfy she wasn’t going to ask. Yet another question that would go unanswered. Just as ‘why would I open more than one fortune cookie?’ would go unanswered.

She wasn’t about to eat said cookie, but that didn’t make her any less curious what it might say as she reached forward to pick one out from the collection on her table. Take care of yourself first. Then help others.

The words made her blink. Of course she knew that.

Upon entering the room, Emmalyn immediately noticed the changed to the room. She briefly wondered what was going on, then decided she was better off just waiting for the professor to let them know, than to get herself all worked up over what she thought it was. That lump under the blanket was most likely not a dead body and the skeleton would probably not be coming after her.

"Hi Professor Vance!" She said as she headed to her seat and spotted the fortune cookies. Not wanting to press her luck, she chose just one cookie. With her eyes closed tight, she cracked open the cookie. Slowly, one eye opened, then the other, to focus on what her fortune said. Don't worry about what others think of you. "Hmm. Well, that's interesting." It was funny how things happened. She had been struggling the past few weeks with comparing herself to the other students and worrying over what they thought of her.

Chloe didn't have far to go, as the crow flies, to get from the Ravenclaw common room to the Divination classroom... but she wasn't a crow. To get there like a person, however, Chloe had to go the round about way and was quite fatigued by the time she climbed into the Divination classroom.

Oh, but cookies. Thank goodness for snackies. Chloe cracked one open as she claimed a poof, reading the fortune as the cookie cracked between her teeth. They always tasted just a bit stale, didn't they? How can you have a beutiful ending without making beautiful mistakes. Lovely.

"Good day, Professor Vance. I see your friend in the corner is terribly lonely. He doesn't have any body." Pleased at her joke, Chloe settled for class to start.

Ronan had a little less farther to go than usual for this right after breakfast class as he had taken Professor Vance's advice from the noticeboard a little too literally and had stopped by the boy's bathroom and taken a shower before heading up here. So, the ladder leading up to the classroom was no big deal to him (not that it usually was).

Anyway, the Head Boy entered the class and took a seat, giving a nod to all those he knew and a "Good morning, Professor," to Professor Vance. Hmm, try a fortune cookie. Okay, that was interesting. Also interesting were the bags and containers piled at the front. Actually, the whole room was different than usual. There wasn't as much incense in the air and it was lighter than usual. A welcome change, honestly.

Ronan reached for one of the fortune cookies in the middle and carefully cracked it open, pulling out the strip of paper inside and reading it.

'Trust your friends, but keep your eyes open.'

Yeah, he already knew to do that.

Derf had long outgrown the belief that he was a Seer - read he had accepted his fantasy as nothing more than fantasy over the summer - but he still had a fondness for Divination even if he wasn't going to continue to pursue it after OWL exams. Well, maybe he would if he could fit it into his schedule because he fancied Professor Vance and Divination came easily to him even without the necessary Inner Eye.

"Hello, professor!" he greeted the woman with a chipper chirp as the all too familiar wall of potent incense nearly struck him over. Making his way over towards one of the tables, the fifth year set his bag down and eyed the fortune cookies. It was a bit perplexing that they were here given that they, well, were hardly tools for divination seeing as they were massly produced. And it was as though the fates wanted to prove this point to him as he snapped open the cookie he had no intention of eating and saw his fortune. "Hey look! We got the same one," he chuckled as he tossed the small bit of paper on the table beside the one Anastasie had discarded earlier. "You know...it's weird how we call them Chinese fortune cookies...when they weren't even invented in China."

And yes, he had completely missed the skeleton dummy and essentially everything else in the set up of the classroom.

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when

Daisy entered the Divination classroom and looked around at the decor of the room. The sight of the skeleton dummy did freak her out a bit. The other sights puzzled her a bit. She looked at Professor Vance with a smile and said, "Good morning, Professor Vance." Daisy found herself a place to sit and grabbed a singular fortune cookie, carefully opening it and reading the fortune inside which said, "The best way to predict the future is to create it."

How interesting, considering the talk she had with Headmistress Hawthorne recently regarding her future.

Yeah I broke that mirror, so what? ll NOT backward ll Official Gryfferin ll Lemon's favourite

For the briefest moment, Jessa had considered taking the morning off from her lessons and using the time for something more constructive. Having finished the entire Hogwarts syllabus, she no longer expected to learn when she attended the lessons and smaller seminars but she'd already gotten to the Divination stairs by the time she'd finally made up her mind on whether she'd be skipping or not.

How unfortunate. Perhaps the next lesson.

"Good morning Profe--"

Hang on. Haaannnnggggg on. Ignoring the fortune cookies--and everyone else in the room to be honest--Jessa made an immediate beeline for the skeleton upon entering the classroom. For the briefest moment, there was a glimmer of curiosity in her eyes, something that hadn't been seen since the start of the new school year. This magnificent thing right here was to thank.

"Are we looking into necromancy today, Professor Vance?" She asked, trying to temper her own excitement in the even it wasn't the case (because how disappointing would THAT BE???) but at the same time finding it hard to remain entirely subdued.

"Is it real? Who's was it? How long's it been dead? Why d'you have this? What've you used it for." She lifted an arm, trying to feel at the bone structure even while she took in its entire appearance.

This could potentially be the best class ever--but it all depended on the woman's answer.

HOLISTIC ACTRESS {X O} EVERYTHING IS CONNECTED

There was a skeleton in the corner of the room. That, was one of the first things Anabeth Greyvson noticed, before turning her attention toward Professor Vance. ”Good afternoon Professor Vance,” she practically beamed as she began scanning the classroom…oh, Daniel and Quinn? That was nice.

The still somewhat short blonde sent a wave over toward Stasie and Lydia as she made her way over toward Daniel and Quinn’s table. ”hey dusty, hey Quinnasaurus…so what fortunes did you get?” she asked tipping her head at them as she cracked hers open.

Blank?

It…was blank? ”mine was a dud,” she shrugged as she put it down on the table. Maybe another one could be better? She shrugged as she began cracking another open. Stop proctastinating. Make a decision already! ”gosh…this fortune is pushy” she shrugged flicking the paper onto the table toward Quinn and Daniel.

Default Daniel and Beth, mentions of Lydia
Fluttery Pegasi

Quinn gave Daniel a barest of nods, without taking her intense, watchful gaze off the others in the room. The corners of her lips, if he was paying attention, curled upward slightly. Yes, they were friends.

Finally she cracked open her second fortune cookie, and ate it before opening up the fortune that was inside.

An exciting adventure awaits you

Well, that was just even less helpful than her first fortune. She flicked this fortune across the table with her other one, in slight annoyance.

Quinn caught someone waving at her and returned Lydia's greeting with a small nod.

"Hey." Beth being her best friend, got a verbal greeting today. Quinn glanced over at the two discarded fortunes of hers and shrugged. "Pointless and unhelpful tripe. You?" She peeked over at Beth's fortune at the mention of it being a dud. That...actually would have been preferable in Quinn's mind than manufactured pleasantries.

Daehyun waved at Lydia before smiling at Beth as she joined them. The nickname Dusty seemed to have stuck with her, so he was no longer bothered by it nowadays. Whether he accepted it or not, he had a feeling the Slytherin wouldn't drop it, so really, it was for his own good to embrace it. "Hi, Beth."

At the girl's inquiry, he held up his fortune facing Beth, the one that said, Anxiety won't help your problems. He also looked over at Quinn's, and he couldn't agree more with her. He had an open mind for Divination, but those fortune cookies? Nuh-uh.

Cracking another one open, he couldn't help the face-splitting grin from spreading as he showed the girls. "Hey, check this out." Everyone agrees you are the best. GRIN. Maybe they weren't that bad, after all.

Quinn rolled her eyes over to glance at Daniel's latest, and gave a small smile. Best? She weighed that in her head and decided that, no. She didn't quite agree he was the best. But he was in the small list of people she actually liked and tolerated, so he was up there. He was an example of the best humanity had to offer, along with Beth and Octavia and Reese and Eria. So, Quinn said nothing, and let him have his fortune.

Why was there a skeleton dummy in class? Why were there a bunch of bags with ceramic clay? Vivian's facial expression should obvious signs of confusion, and perhaps stress. She wasn't in the best mood today, nor was she in a significantly terrible one. She just felt quite dull. Tired, and had only managed a slightly messy ponytail. Her seventh year duties were catching up to her, but she refused to let her exhaustion stop her from dragging herself to class.

The Head Girl offered a smile to her head of house, along with a "Good day, Professor," before she made a beeline for her usual seat and eyed the fortune cookies on top of her desk. Interesting. Vivian sat and broke the cookie in half to reveal her fortune of the day. Be at peace with yourself.

She couldn't help but make a tiny snort. The only peace she had every single day was during her bedtime. Nice try though, cookie.

Divination wasn't one of her better lessons but Rylee made up through the trap door after breakfast with her usual smile on her face. "Hello, Professor," she greeted warmly during her usual quick glance around the room.

Spotting the skeletal dummy in the corner was interesting for sure but not so much after some of the lessons she attended lately. With a small wave at some of her friends she slipped into an seat at an empty table. Setting her bag beneath her chair she picked up one of the fortune cookies from the center of the table. Cracking it in half she pulled the slip of paper out and set the cookie aside, she would save it for Neptune since she didn't really want to eat it herself. Turning over the little bit of paper she read her fortune.

"True love is on its way. Make room!"

Rylee stared at the slip of paper with a slightly puzzled expression on her face before folding it in half and setting it aside. Well alrighty then.

"Good morning, Professor Vance," came Abra's voice as he let himself into the classroom. Morning lessons were really not his favourite, but at least this one was a class in which he believed (incorrectly, but still) that he had a sort of ~natural talent~ in, which meant he was in a much better mood than if he'd just entered, say, a Potions lesson.

Uhh-... oh. Whoops. Vance was reading, and there was a cursive (aka basically unreadable) message up on the board; had he just disturbed her? Never mind that everyone else seemed to be greeting the professor, Abra slammed his mouth shut upon his realisation and quickly took the nearest empty seat, not taking much notice of who he was sitting near.

Oooh, food? Abra had just eaten breakfast of course, but he wasn't really one to turn down food. He had been about to take a bite of the strangely shaped cookie in front of him, before he noticed some other people were cracking theirs open by hand first. He did that instead and pulled out... Ohhhhhhh. Right. So this was a fortune cookie.

Cramming the broken pieces of biscuit into his mouth, Abra unfurled the strip of paper and took a moment or two to decipher it. Then he smiled to himself, finding the message inside pleasant enough, whether it was true or not: Your smile lights up someone else's day.

Hearing the footsteps on the ladder Professor Vance raised her head from her book just in time to see Quinn enter the classroom as the first student. Smiling over at her she greeted "Good morning Quinn!" before she refocused on her book.

Before Professor Vance had managed to cast her eyes downward to the page she was reading related to the topic of the day’s lesson another student made their entrance; Skylar Diggory. With a slightly raised brow at the Slytherin Captain she emphasized in her kind greeting "Good morning to you too Skylar!"

Another thing that caught his eyes are the fortune cookies laid out for them. Of course Caleb took one and carry along to find a seat.
Cracking the cookie open he reads his fortune. go with your gut feeling. Hmmm...
Shortly after the snake Captain, another snake arrived but this time a boy. Flashing him a beam Professor Vance greeted "Hello Caleb," It looked like her idea of reading up on part of the reading they were doing today would need to be postponed since the students were now flowing into the classroom.

Her green eyes looked around for the perfect place to sit, she's always been very particular about where she has to sit for classes. Maybe a seat in the front would do her good for once, maybe even keep her more focused.
Like Laurel had predicted before hand Ana Kowalski followed as the third snake student to arrive to the classroom in a streak. Raising her cup to take a long sip of tea she waved over to the snakette with a free hand. "Good morning Anastasie!" What was with the 'good afternoons' had the senior snakes been skipping breakfast today?

"Hello Daniel!" Professor Vance greeted with a smile over in the lion youth’s direction. It was nice to see some boy’s in attendance. Classes were always better when there was more even gender numbers. It made for better discussions and readings.

Kye found herself squinting a bit, partly because of her stinging eyes, but mostly because it was definitely brighter in here... Seriously? Laurel was now getting worried. What was up with her senior girls in her snake house? They couldn’t all have overturned the day and thought it was well after 12 am already? Shaking her head, Professor Vance then shot Kye a beam in greeting "Hello Kye!" She would need to investigate this later.

Laurel heaved a small sigh of relief when Lydia entered up through the trapdoor and didn’t greet her in an odd way like her other snake peers which also made her beam widely in the first year girl’s direction. "Good morning Lydia, I’m very well thank you. I hope you are well too?"

Madeline Kemp followed in Lydia’s footsteps. For some reason Maddie always made Laurel smile which was the case of this morning too when Professor Vance waved and smiled over at the badgerette. "Good morning Madeline!"

The slippers were noticed, but aside from a thought that they looked comfy she wasn’t going to ask. Yet another question that would go unanswered. Just as ‘why would I open more than one fortune cookie?’ would go unanswered.
Laurel was observing the fortune cookie openings and noting how almost everyone cracked open at least one cookie from the trays to read the fortunes in them. It was nice to see. So she didn’t see Stasya enter until she heard her name. Looking up with a smile she called to the lioness "Good morning to you too Stasya."

Emmalyn was the second badger to arrive with what it seemed like a sunny demeanour which Professor Vance appreciated and wished all her student would have in her lessons. Smiling over at the second year she greeted back. "Hello Emmalyn."

Chloe Kettleburn graced the classroom with her presence next making a little joke. Amused Professor Vance greeted with a wink in Chloe’s direction. "Good morning Chloe, oh but you see my friend in the corner told me that he doesn’t want a body. He is perfect as he is."

A welcome change, honestly.
Ronan Carter made his entrance just as Laurel took another sip of her tea that was sadly turning cold and untasty. Flashing the head boy a smile she greeted "Good morning Ronan," before she proceeded to set down her cup. She didn’t want any more tea. Cold tea was meh.

It was a bit perplexing that they were here given that they, well, were hardly tools for divination seeing as they were massly produced.
Prefect’s in attendance were always welcome since they could help restore order if chaos ensued but Laurel’s prediction for this lesson hadn’t thankfully foreseen any worrying signs. Nonetheless though Professor Vance greeted the badger prefect with a cheery "Good morning Derfael!"

Daisy’s entrance was uplifting considering the hardship the girl had gone through earlier in the term. It was never easy to lose a parent and especially not when you are young. "Good morning Daisy!" She greeted with a kind glance over in the badgerettes direction.

Jessa Cambridge never ceased to surprise her as she did upon her entrance this morning too. Slightly amused Professor Vance shook her head in response to the eaglette. “No, we will not be studying necromancy today Jessa.” It almost felt sad to stifle the girl’s clear excitement. With another head shake she continued “No, the skeleton is not real. It’s just a dummy I borrowed from Professor Hirsch that will have a small purpose in the first part of our lesson.” That was all she was saying. She didn’t want to reveal too much.

A quick glance down at her watch told her that they’d be starting in another 10 minutes, so there was still some time for arrivals. When Laurel looked at the trapdoor next Anabeth entered up through it immediately eyeing up the dummy. When their eye’s met Professor Vance greeted with a sunny smile “Good morning Anabeth!” She’d have to consult Penny about this with the days since Beth was the next in line to think it was afternoon.

A first look in Vivian’s direction told her that maybe the head girl wasn’t having the best of starts to the day. She looked tired and down. Hopefully the lesson would raise her spirits, if not Laurel would make sure to have a chat with her when the opportunity opened up itself later in the lesson. In any case she offered Vivian a warm smile. "Good morning Vivian!"

Just before laurel was going to reach for her wand to lock the trapdoor Abraham Botros entered the classroom. That boy always made her think of his relative that had taught here. Smiling over at the lion boy she greeted kindly "Good morning Abraham.". Before she did what she intended before and took out her wand and with a flick closed the trapdoor but she didn’t lock it.

When the clock on the wall over the trapdoor turned over to 9am sharp and chimed Laurel finished up the last of her red tea, and stood up from her chair to face the students with a cheery smile on her face, as she locked the trap with a flick of her wand. "Good morning everyone and welcome to this lesson in the noble art of Divination. I hope you all tasted one of the yummy fortune cookies that you have on your tables. I made them myself." Without having to go down to the kitchens to ask the elves for help. She was secretly proud of that.

"Anyway, before we get to what method we are going to be discussing today then can each of you please name ONE part of the body and it's corresponding method name if you know it that can be used for divination readings. Feel free to give Mr Skeleton over there a gander if your are blank on ideas." Laurel finished with a hand wave to the skeleton dummy in the corner.

OOC: Class has now started! I'm so happy to see so many of you in my class! If you are just joining us, then please feel to jump in and you can do so throughout the whole lesson. Post your student as if he/she has been there the whole time unless you want them to arrive late of course and suffer the possible consequences. Simply name ONE body part + corresponding method name per student. All answers are accepted both correct, wrong and quirky. Have fun! Class will move on tomorrow 24 hours from now @ approx 7pm on Thursday GMT+2.

Whoops. Professor Vance made the cookies, which were great, but did that also mean she made the fortunes for them? Quinn couldn't quite see Professor Vance going through the trouble of making fortune cookies from scratch and stuffing them with generic fortunes bought in bulk.

Maybe the weren't pointless or unhelpful after all. The could be meant to refer to how everything seemed to be, possibly, heading at the moment in her life...

She reached across the table, found her two fortunes and looked them over briefly before stuffing them in her pocket, just in case. If Professor Vance made the fortunes from scratch, they were trustworthy.

She glanced over at the skeleton for a long moment. Palmistry was the obvious answer. You read the lines in the palm of a person's hand to read their fortune. But...that was too obvious an answer. "I don't know what it's called, but isn't there one that supposedly reads the bumps of your head slash skull to tell your fortune?"
