Because the seventh floor is the gateway to Hogwarts' biggest towers, you can expect to access quite a bit of the castle from here. The most notable areas that this corridor provides passage to are the Owlery, Astronomy Tower, Divination Tower, the common rooms for both Gryffindor and Ravenclaw, and, if you know where to look, the Room of Requirement. Sweeping views of the Quad below are available thanks to a series of large windows.
After stepping onto the seventh-floor corridor, a statue of Lachlan the Lanky immediately greets you. There really isn't anything overly special about him, but one can hide behind him and not be easily found if you're playing hide-and-go-seek or are just wanting to completely avoid someone. A renowned tapestry and numerous portraits, ranging from a mother and her baby, various wildlife animals, and the chivalrous Sir Cadogan adorn the walls. The latter portrait, should you ever need help getting around, is always eager to assist those who are, allegedly, in distress.
Juniper was heading back up to the common room after a morning full of lessons. It already felt like she was taking twice as many classes than she did last term. Three classes before lunch time. In reality this only happened one day out of the week. And lunch she couldn’t miss that. Like someone would let her skip a meal.
Now she was going to relax in Ravenclaw tower. At least until her next lesson which was It was hard being all studious, and still have a social life. Though since returning to school she hadn’t had much of social life. So far she had kept a low profile even for her. Lately she spend her free reading or daydreaming which ever was currently most exciting.
She was lost in her own little world by the time she had hit the seventh floor.

Y'know, Zoryn was having a GREAT few days back. She had already spent COUNTLESS hours with all of her bestest friends (aka Faith, Slyvie, Théo, Derf, ETC). She had eaten her entire body weight in food (and GOOD food, at that). She had finalized her plans for Quidditch practices. AND had even taken a bath in the prefect's bathroom, 'cause she had those kinds of privileges now. Life couldn't get any better!
Until it got worse.
'Cause as she was headed out of the Common Room and into the Seventh Floor Corridor, she came across the LAST person she wanted to see (not just in this moment, but like ever). "UUUUGH," and she wasn't subtle about it. If the groan didn't give away her distaste, then the dramatic eye-roll most definitely did. Zoryn Spinnet was not happy to be sharing the corridor with the likes of Juniper Primeaux.

She clutched her bag tight around her shoulder as walked up the corridor. Thinking about being back at school, quidditch and her friends. Right now though, the fourth year was ready to go take her nap when she got back to her common room. Somewhere from behind her she heard a noise from someone she was not in the mood to have to share the same space with. She rolled her eyes, because Merlin knows that either of them wanted this. Plus if she got Zoryn to roll her eyes again maybe her’s would get stuck like that. Haha that would be great actually.
So she just kept walking. Maybe if she ignored her long enough that Gryffindor captain would disappear. Probably not, no one would ever get that lucky. Though now that Juni thought about it she didn’t have a bit of information to share with Zoryn. ”Did you see that the play auditions sign ups are up?”/ She had a superior looking smile on her face as she asked. Not that Juniper had planned on auditioning for it this year. She was more focused on quidditch and studying and getting ready for her OWLs next term. But yes Juniper Primeaux would never not miss a chance to rub in it that she had gotten a way better part in last terms play. The ground, really? It was hilarious, maybe she could be one of the flying monkeys, or tin man, since clearly she didn’t have a heart to begin with, or even better maybe she could be the yellow brick road! HA!

Zoryn's face didn't so much as falter when Juniper made her comment about the play auditions. Obviously it was meant to be a jab in reference to her smaller role in the previous play put on by the school. But y'know what, since that time Zoryn had decided that her part wasn't actually small and that she was the MOST important person in the play. Not only did she blow it out of the water and do the BEST out of all the performers, but also the ground is a very vital piece of our daily lives. SO really, she was the LEAD. "Mhm, are you gonna audition?" Zoryn was trying to sound disinterested, but lowkey she really wanted to know. 'Cause it'd be SOOOOOO awesome to make Juniper feel bad about the role she'd get y'know? Nothing says AWESOME like payback, amiright?
Annnnnyyyyyywaaaaaayyyyys, there were more important things that Zoryn could hold over her head. For example, the fact that she had a badge and Juniper DIDN'T. Ha. "I don't know if I'll have enough time for it with all of the awesome stuff I'm gonna be doing as Quidditch Captain," she smiled innocently. She ever-so-casually (read: not casually whatsoever) tossed her hair back so that her badge could be completely visible. She even took a moment to shiny it with her sleeve so that the light would bounce off and hopefully hit Juni in the face.
Heh.
U mad?

Soooo Juni was starting to wonder if there was a point to this conversation. Next time she would just have to remember not to engage in a conversation with this one. It just wasn’t worth the time or effort to go out of her way to rub things in. She had more important things to do. She crossed her arms. Not impressed, and she would never be impressed by this kid. She shrugged a shoulder and flipped her hair back. ”No, probably not. I’m way to busy for something so unoriginal. Let’s be honestly The wizard of Oz is.. Well it’s a bit outdated Don’t you think?” Myers wrote the one last term. It was a total original.
And cue the eyeroll…. Of course she would throw her badged self in her face. Only after she oh-so-casually reminded her of her minor role. The Ravenclaw however reasoned with herself that the other girl had only been given the badge to boost her self esteem after being given the role of the ground in the play. And to only feed Zoryn’s need to feel important. ”I didn’t know you could play.” That she was most certain of. Shielding her eyes, not that it was blinding her she just didn’t want to see it. Nor did she care. ”Oh yeah. I noticed it at the feast. I thought it was just some food on your robes at first.” A smirk appeared on her face. Secretly Juniper wished the best for her… because Gryffindor was going to need it having her as captain. Theo was the real quidditch player for Gryffindor in her book. Him or Genny Tate. Not “Zero” Spinnut.

"Sounds like you're just scared you won't get lucky twice in a row," 'Cause that's how she got her other role in the school play: pure luck. This was all according to the way Zoryn chose to see it, at least. There was no way that Juniper Primeaux managed to get a better role over Zoryn Amari Spinnet over pure talent. Like, no offense, but Professor Myers was always too mellow to be completely sane. He must've eaten a bad egg or had too much butterbeer or SOMETHING before making the final casting decisions. Anyway, Zoryn definitely showed Juni up during the main performance, so that's what mattered. Her parents had said that she did the BEST job out of everyone in the ENTIRE play. And her parents were always right. So in conclusion, Juni was just making up excuses.
Zoryn gave Juni a stank eye. "Funny!" she chirped quickly, her tone drenched in absolutely nothing to indicate that Zor actually thought J was funny at all. In fact, her blood was absolutely boiling. "Y'know, they only give badges to Fourth Years when they show extra talent." And for once, Zoryn actually wasn't making anything up. It was like, a rule. You were supposed to badge FIFTH years and above. Zoryn was just too good to pass up. She and Derf both. "Are you trying out for Quidditch, Juni?" she asked with the hope that the girl was. There were a lot of reasons behind hoping Juni would be trying out for the team, the most notable being that maybe the girl would face a rejection. Mhm.
One could only wish.

Ugh…this wasn’t going to go well.
Seventh year and that was it. Well for Hogwarts anyway. Then she was an adult in two worlds and out in the real world trying to make something of herself. To make her family proud of her for what she was accomplishing. Sure she was considering going to university for SOMETHING after graduation but that was if she made it. If she was accepted to one AFTER she made it through the rest of the school year. IF she survived the dreaded NEWTs. They weren’t the OWLs of her fifth year. They weren’t going to be as easy and doable as those horrible exams had been.
Cass couldn’t help sighing as she turned away from the common room door and started walking away. “Maybe I should check out the library…”Not waste time in the dorms. She’d need to make sure she remembered all that she had learned for the past several years. Sure Ravenclaw tower had its own library nook, but the common room could get rowdy will all the other years passing in and out at all times of the day. The seventh year turned her head back to the knocker off in the distance. Or should grab a book and find a quiet private place out on the grounds.

Juni just crossed her arms at that comment of Zoryn’s. Who wanted to be in some stupid play. And with her. NOT JUNI. NO offense to Myers for trying at this point to keep things going and doing something like the play. ”Just keep telling yourself that.” She smirked. Only now she was regretting even wasting her breath on this kid. Juni was really just over Zoryn’s many and may she add ridiculous ways of trying to make Juni feel less than worthy. Zoryn really had some pathetic attempts. And guess what the Ravenclaw remained unfazed by it.
Well she must of hit a nerve by the look of that stank eye. And the strikes against her continued, Juniper could pretty much smell the desperation on the girl. Gryffindors, so dramatic, right? ”Oh I thought it was just being they wanted you to feel like you are actually important.” In fact she knew that was the reason. Poor little Zoryn… Another smile crossed her face. ”I am. My brother and his girlfriend are both professionals, I trained with them some over the summer.” So yeah she was ready for it. No matter how shiny her captains badge was, Juni had actually worked for if she made the team. She made it on talent and not had it given to her out of pity. Poor Gryffindors being stuck with her as a captain.

Leaving the Divination Tower Professor Vance walked down the seventh floor corridor intending to check on the snakes before going by the staff room to look for Kay. The blond professor was walking in her own thoughts, rehashing the lesson that she had just ended a few minutes ago. Not paying attention or listening to the sounds around, and her Inner Eye didn't warn her either before Laurel came to a abrupt stop colliding with someone that caused her to stumble backwards.
Laurel glanced wide-eyed around as she half stood and sat on the cold stone floor seeing Cassandra McNally not too far away. Urgently she called out "Cassandra? Cassandra, are you all right? I'm sorry, I had my head elsewhere and didn't look where I was going."

Zoryn was sure that's why Juni didn't audition again. Plus the girl had TOTALLY tanked her role last year because clearly Zoryn Amari Spinnet stole the show with her interpretive 'ground' dance. It wasn't surprising that the ravenclaw didn't want to get upstaged again. Such a shame though 'cause Zoryn would LOVE to show her up. Just sayin. Instead of giving Juni any sort of satisfaction with a response, Zor just made a face to mock her. Take that, you limp piece of lettuce! HA.
"Oh wow!" Was Zoryn supposed to be impressed? Because she was... NOT. So what if Juni had Quidditch playing family. Zoryn's surname was like an ode to Quidditch. If anyone had the leg up here, it was her. AND she had the badge!!!! That meant SOMETHING even if J was trying to demonize it.
All sorts of fed up, Zoryn couldn't help but sing a tune... In her own rendition of a song from an old muggle musical (Grease)... Only with some alterations to fit the moment."Loooook at me, I'm Juni P!" She giggled, dancing circles around the Ravenclaw. "Lousy with stupidity. Won't admit defeat, but Zor's got me beat! I can't, I'm Juni P!"
How 'bout them apples?
Not only was she mega talented and going to get a role in the musical, but her creativity would clearly help Gryffindor beat everyone in Quidditch.
You've just been served.

It was the perfect spot to get in a bit of light reading. Jessa sat with her back to the castle wall, just below one of the many large windows within the corridor. Her latest read was currently propped onto her lap, with another two closed and resting right next to her. It'd been a very productive Saturday morning in her lab but now everything she was working on required her to wait and while she could've found other more productive ways of whiling away the time, the plot of this particular novel was what held her interest from the moment she'd come across it over in the Common Room.
It had everything she needed to remain interested in a story; action, mystery and codes that required a bit of extra thinking on the part of the reader.
Slowly, the world around her began to dissolve. The passersby along the corridor no longer caught her attention. The rustling of the wind just outside was nothing more than a soft whistling as the young girl began ever more lost within the story.
For the moment, the castle crazies didn't matter. All the blood warnings and weird kids were but a distance memory and for as long as she could help it, she would be keeping it that way.
Once the alarm on her watch went off, she would head back to her lab, but until then, she would remain firmly planted in this spot, her eyes tracing over each sentence with avid interest.

Steffi ran after the frog that she had caught earlier by the lake. It was hopping down the corridor. She was laughing and trying to get it. She had wanted to use it to see if she could do some transfiguration on it. She was trying to be good and study. The little girl ran, not paying attention to anyone sitting in the corridor. She suddenly was falling, running into Jessa's legs. Steffi fell, sprawling against the hard floor. A yelp of pain rang out. "AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH..." She blinked and looked up at the ceiling. After a few moments, Steffi sat up. She looked around, looking to see what she ran into. She looked up at the older ravenclaw girl. She blushed and rubbed the back of her head. "Im so sorry..."

Oooooooh Merlin! Oh Merlin, oh Merlin, oh Merlin!
!!!!!!!!!!
Nearing the middle of the book, Jessa could tell the author was now making the transition from the rising action by the way everything had suddenly gotten so intense. All these revelations--Did John even KNOW?? And what about Miriam? Circe, this would likely change everything and just jfvegsfuweidueyew. The Ravenclaw lifted the book higher and higher, not taking notice of the fact she was even doing this.
Her eyes began to dart across the page, gobbling the words that were laid out for them in what was possibly the best feast they'd had in a while. So engrossed was she that she completely missed the frog hopping by and the laughter of the Second Year.
Harder to ignore, however, was said Second Year suddenly tripping over her feet and likely faceplanting into the floor.
Blink.
Slowly, albeit a little reluctantly, Jessa lowered her book to see what she'd missed. A brow slowly rose at the younger girl, her own shins smarting from the way they'd been collided into. "You must have been in some hurry to go falling over like that. Where's the fire?"
No but really, don't let there be a fire. Something told her she'd be responsible for rounding up the baby claws if that happened but suffice to say her interests would have been elsewhere.

Cass was still debating her destination when she suddenly turned back towards the common room only to find a living barrier in her way. The momentum of both women causing them to bounce off of each other to rest half-standing, half-kneeling/sitting a few feet away from each other. It certainly jostled the Ravenclaw a bit in her surprise, the seventh year drawn out of her fretting. It was then that she could somewhat focus to identify whom she had walked into. One divination professor currently in a similar state on the floor as she was.
Great…just great.
And Professor Vance was sorry? No, it was she who had been the one at fault. “I’m fine…” she said at first, moving as if to get up before sighing and fully sitting down instead. “No…not fine. Nothing’s fine.” Physically she was fine, but that was all. “It’s all…complicated.”

Half-kneeling and half sitting on the cold stone corridor floor Laurel glanced around, first down at herself to see if she had sustained any injuries, which she hadn't and then over at Cassandra again. The seventh year eagle looked perturbed and unhappy. She moved as if to get up and leave but then she surprised Laurel by audibly sighing, sitting down fully on the floor and proclaiming that nothing was fine and all was complicated.
Casting a glance down at her wrist watch Laurel decided that finding Kay and asking her best friend for a dinner date to gossip about things could wait. Cassandra needed her now. Getting up from her uncomfortable position she moved over to sit down closer to Cassandra as she asked quietly. "What is all complicated? Are you having boy troubles?"

Steffi looked up at the older girl. She rubbed away the tears that came from the shock and slight pain of falling. "Theres no fire but now I lost a frog somewhere around here..." She swung her head around, searching for the little guy. "Have you seen where it went off too?" Since she already apologize to the claw, she didnt feel the need to say sorry again. She stood up and brushed herself off. She was trying to hunt down the frog."Ill hate to have to go to find another one... it was messy trying to get this one." She let out a sigh. The 2nd year slytherin didnt notice that she had scraped up her knees and was having a little bit of blood trickling down. She was more concern with where the frog went to.

A frog?
Jessa tilted her head, fixing the girl with a curious look. She'd been chasing a frog somewhere around here? It'd gotten away? Naturally, this left the Ravenclaw with a few questions. She didn't find many girls chasing amphibians within the castle. Most had other ideas of fun. "What're you gonna do with it when you find it?" Was perhaps the loudest question to move to the forefront of her mind.
"I haven't seen it, but I reckon it couldn't have gone too far." It was, afterall, a frog and this was a long corridor.
She'd been about to look down the corridor, expecting to see it'd stopped hopping now that it'd stopped being chased but the little droplets of red against the girl's skin proved more interesting. "D'you want me to take care of that for you?" She could. For years now the Ravenclaw had dabbled in healing charms and potions, mostly for herself because her experiments could sometimes get out of hand, but it was effective all the same.

Steffi was searching the floor, "I was wanting to use it for practice with spells..." Just like transfiguration stuff... not like typical slytherin kill and torture crap. She sighed and looked at the older girl, shifting her weight back and forth. "Yeah, couldnt have gotten too far." She nodded and sighed.
She glanced down at her knees, surprise showing. "Oh... yikes..." She looked at the older girl in amazement. "You know how to heal that?" Awe showed on her small feautres and she nodded. "Yes, please... I am Steffi by the way..." She shifted her weight a few more times, looking at the Ravenclaw.

Much like the younger girl, Jessa was also searching the ground of the corridor for any signs of the little guy. To say she was intrigued by the Slytherin's intent to practice classwork on the creature would have been an understatement. "What sort of magic were you looking to get into with it? Have you taken all the right measures into consideration to make sure he doesn't pop?" Just a few things she herself tried to think about when working with live animals. "I suppose you could always go find a new one." She mused, leaning forward now to get a better look at the girl's knee.
"I know you're uninterested in having to hunt for more, but it's reasons like these why you never stick to just one test subject. Anything can happen. If you had five of him, I reckon you wouldn't be darting through the corridors." Not a reprimand, hardly, more like advise from someone who occasionally gathered creatures for her own experiments.
"I dabble in a few things, yeah." She kept her reply vague, not that keen to go into too much detail. "Something like this would work better with a potion but," She didn't carry those around with her, "I can still make it work." First step was scourgifying the area and looking for signs of further bleeding.
The Prefect might have sent this one straight to the healer but by the looks of it, it was a shallow cut. Slap a band aid one and she'd be good to go.

Cass nearly snorted at the mention of boy trouble. Why did that topic always seem to be the first people thought of? It was actually the first time in three years she WASN’t really having boy troubles. Fifth year was the crush on her ball date and the previous had been her crush on Levi. No, this was all academic. This was all about her future. “Life…” the seventh year stated at first, her mind reeling as she tried to come up with the right words to elaborate to the woman. Surely as a professor and a woman and someone who likely had to study much in her career would understand.
“What I should be doing in the future…or doing to create my future. Or something else.” See…complicated. And it had seemed bad enough in her fifth year when she had first seen Professor Hirsch about future plans and tests to focus on for her OWLs. Now it was sooooo much closer and appeared sooooo much more pressured.

Sitting there on the cold stone floor with her back against the wall a few feet from Cassandra she was reminded that she wasn't a teenager anymore. Laurel was already starting to feel how her feet were getting cold and soon her hands would follow. Pulling her wand out she uttered a non verbal spell that made a warm blanket appear that she nestled around her legs.
As Cassandra uttered the word life and then elaborated what she meant Laurel asked "Would you like me to conjur up a warm blanket for you too?" Still gripping her wand she apologized quietly and sincerely. "Sorry for jumping to the boy trouble conclusion. Many that come to my door do that because of love troubles." It was a fact.
"Do you have a dream job? Or something your passionate about like charms, qudditch, dada or similar? The ministry have loads of jobs to offer." It'd ease the pressure off if Cassandra figured that out with or without her divining assistance.
