Default Potions Lesson 1: Where's your head at?



It’s a bright but chilly autumnal morning outside - not that you would know that in the Potions classroom, given the lack of windows. Professor Noble had done a decent job of lightening things up though; the classroom is certainly brighter than the corridor outside, due to a number of glowing orbs suspended from the ceiling. Dark rooms were not conducive to accurate brewing, and he’d responded accordingly. Of course, it didn’t hurt that it might help the nightowls stay awake at this hour too.

On entering the classroom, you’ll see the desks in rows facing forwards, a pretty typical layout. At each workstation a small burner, currently off, and tripod awaits your cauldron. Your copper one, if you’d bothered to read your schedule. The far side bench gives a hint at the topic of the lesson, piled high with pumpkins, so generously grown by Professor Myers at Noble’s request.

The Potions professor himself cuts a stern figure at the front of class, leant back commandingly against the front desk, robes flowing and arms folded across his chest. His gaze rests on the door, a dissatisfied air about his lips.

“Chop chop! Stop lingering in the doorway like a lost flobberworm and pick up a pumpkin on the way to your seat.”

"You're a life saver," he grinned at her while she poured half her potion into his cauldron, not yet putting together that this meant that portion control and remaining ingredients to be added would now needed to be recalculated at LEAST - considering he had no idea Zoryn had also incorrectly followed any other instructions prior to his return to his seat. "I really owe you BIG time."

Uh...what step was this potion on now? "Pumpkin seeds," he read from his parchment, grabbing a fist full of them and beginning to count them off. It was THEN that he realized he may need to recalculate. Seeing as he had HALF the potion in his that meant he ought to reduce the number of pumpkin seeds in half too, yeah? Pushing five pumpkin seeds out of his hand, so that he had five remaining, Derf plopped the first one into his cauldron and watched it sizzle and POP into oblivion with his counter-clockwise stir. That was a good thing, right? Glancing over at Zoryn with a shrug, he added the second...stiiiiiiir...and then third...stiiiiiiiir...and then fourth...stiiiiir...and then the last seed was plopped in and juuuuuuuuust as he was about stir when...

KABOOOOOOOOM

.............................SPLAT


FAILED POTION EEEEEEEEEVERYWHERE...and most of it right in the Hufflepuff's face, covering his entire body.

Pompion Potion
turns the drinker's head into pumpkin; brewing time of 50 minutes

Ingredients:
2 cups pumpkin innards, densely packed (sorted so no seeds)
3 flitterby moths
100g fresh bouncing bulb, stunned if necessary
4g fresh foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) flowers, petals only
10 fresh pumpkin seeds

Instructions:
1.Use diffindo to cut open the pumpkin. thanks Zoryn
2. Using a metal spoon, scoop out the innards, pulling out the seeds and putting to one side. thanks Zoryn
3. Put two densely packed cups of pumpkin innards in the bottom your cauldron with a cup of water. Set over medium heat. thanks Zoryn
4. Whilst waiting for the cauldron to come to a light simmer, grind 3 dried flitterby moths to a fine powder in your pestle and mortar. thanks Zoryn
5. Add these to the cauldron and stir clockwise until the contents turns grass green (4 complete stirs should do the trick). thanks Zoryn
6. Stun your bouncing bulb. Peel off the purple skin, and chop finely with a silver knife. Weigh out 100g. Add to your cauldron and stir enough to incorporate. thanks Zoryn
7. Let your potion simmer for 30 minutes. You may carve your pumpkin whilst you wait. thanks Zoryn
7. Pluck the petals from the foxgloves, and weigh out 4g. Crush to release the juices and chop roughly. Add to the cauldron, and stir until potion changes to a dark purple. Wash hands after handling the foxglove - it is toxic if consumed alone. thanks Zoryn
8. Add the pumpkin seeds one at a time, stirring anticlockwise between each. The potion should turn a bright orange.
9. Carefully ladle a sample of your potion into a labelled vial and hand in for grading. If and only if I deem your potion safe, you may also take a bottle from class to do with as you wish.

Z had gone back to her seat and had been working on her own potions again. She was just about to add her pumpkin seeds when she looked up to admire the view a few workstations away when SPLAT happened. "Oh my god Derf!!!"

Taking off she headed towards his workstation, "Derf are you alright?" She pulled her wand out and cleaned up up the mess. Was he hurt though? Did the potion burn him at all? She put her hands on his arm and looked at his face to see if there were any burns or anything wrong. "Healer.... Healer we might need help over here."

She glanced hoping Ronan was doing better so that precious Derf could get taken care of.

Oh Merlin. Scarlet got distracted as a loud BOOM shook the whole classroom - it sounded like it had come from somewhere close behind her. She turned, noticing a drop or two of the explosion had landed SUUUUPER close to her station, one even on her open book, and saw that it was Derf, just a few station away, who had potion allllllll over him. Poor kid. It seemed like something ALWAYS happened to him during lessons.

Waving her wand and cleaning her own station, she looked up as the young Slytherin girl got the attention of the professor immediately. Alright, so, hopefully, the situation was handled. The momentary distraction would end up being good for HER at least, because she was a bit behind and wanted to catch up.

She peered into her cauldron. It LOOKED ok, and hopefully Derf's explosion hadn't tainted her potion very much - if at all. Only one way to find out...

Her pumpkin was simmering now, so she took her ground up moths and dropped them in. Taking her stirrer, she did four clockwise turns, watching with a small smile as her powdered moths turned bright green, which verified that she had, in fact, ground the moths down enough. She added 100 grams of her bouncing bulb after that, stirred it a bit to let the bulb actually mix in with the potion, then set her timer for half an hour.

She turned her attention back to Derf, biting her lip. She'd wait to see if the professor needed any help, rather than carve her pumpkin (she was never a big fan of carving pumpkins, even at Halloween).

Ingredients:

Instructions:

4. Place three dried flitterby moths in a mortar and with a pestle grind into a very fine powder. Do not add to cauldron yet
5. Peel the outer layer of a stunned bouncing bulb via a peeler then chop 100g worth of bulb (use scales to measure) using a silver knife. Keep cuts smooth. Do not add to cauldron yet
6. Once simmered, ad moth powder. Stir clockwise until turns grass green (should be four turns)
7. add 100g of bouncing bulb stir just enough to incorporate (like cake)
8. Turn down heat and set timer for 30 minutes
7. Pluck petals from foxgloves, and weigh out 4g. Crush to release the juices and chop roughly. Add to the cauldron, and stir counter clockwise until potion changes to a dark purple. Wash hands after handling the foxglove - it is toxic, a.k.a. you die.
8. Add ten pumpkin seeds one at a time, stirring counterclockwise between each seed.
9. Using a medium vile add the potion to the vile for grading.


Patrick was surprised he had made it through this entire lesson without hurting himself. He was genuinely surprised that something hadn’t gone bang yet. Then he heard it, a big boom with a splat sound after it. Turning his head toward the middle of the room he found Derf covered in the potion. By the looks of it the pumpkin seeds were too much or something had gone horribly wrong with him and Zoryn’s station. He was going to ask if he was alright but looked like some girl he didn’t know (Zita) was already there. With a deep breath to calm his nerves after that loud bang, he began to count out the pumpkin seeds on the table. Counting onto the table first in hopes that he didn’t make his cauldron explode like poor Derf did. And maybe the hope that he had actually done everything right.

Now time to add the pumpkin seeds to the potion. One he mumbled dropping it into the cauldron and stirring the potion counter clockwise. He continued this nine more times wanting to do well. Stirring the cauldron one last time he peered over the edge to take note of what color the potion was. “Orange,” he sighed with relief as he pulled the stirring rod out of his cauldron. Now to give his vile for grading. Writing his name slowly and a bit nicer than the first time followed by his house name and year he began to ladle the potion into the vile.

He looked at the potion wanting to give it a test run...on his brothers. He bottled up a second vile to take to the front and ask the professor if he could take it. He was hoping that he had done everything right. Just as he set down the vile for grading he looked up at Professor Nobel “excuse me professor, could I take this second vile with me to try?” Holding the second bottle up for Professor Nobel to inspect and hopefully okay for him.

Zoryn offered Derf a HUGE smile before skipping off to get some fresh foxglove flowers. Putting on her gloves, she walked over to where they were sat on Professor Noble's desk and grabbed a couple of the medium sized ones by plucking them from the green sepal. She made sure to weigh them out and got what looked like arouuuuuund 4 grams before walking back to her cauldron.

.... The contents of which were starting to look kind of funny....

Zoryn shrugged it off and went back to crushing the foxglove petals with her fingers when all of the sudden she heard an explosion go off and UH OH. She had some of Derf's potion all over--
KABOOM !!!!!
......................... X2
Uh oh.

Potion in her hair. Potion on her robes. Potion on her FACE. Potion splattered all over her workstation (and Derf... x2).

After thirty minutes, it was time for the foxglove flowers. Scarlett pull on her gloves - rather be safe than sorry - and then walked up to gather the ingredient. She decided to go with a small one and a large one. Waste not want not, or something like that, right? They didn't want to give very easily, though, and after a few good tugs, she got two of the petals off and could head back to her station.

She walked back to her station and with her gloved hands took the petals and lightly crushed them between her fingers, then took them off so she could properly chop them up. She was nervous, because of the whole toxicity thing, but it obviously couldn't be THAT bad if the professor was letting them handle them. She dropped her chopped flowers into the cauldron, quickly washed off her hands to avoid getting sick, and then she began to stir counter clockwise. Eventually, her potion became a nice, deep purple, just as described. She grinned happily to herself. She was going to ACE this NEWT!

She looked down at her pumpkin seeds and counted out ten of them, getting ready to toss them into her potion. Of course, she couldn't just TOSS them in. She needed to do this slowly. She dropped one seed in the cauldron, then gave it one stir counter clockwise. She repeated this over and over again, her potion getting steadily orange-r as she did so. Finally, she had added all ten and done her ten counter clockwise stirs in between. She turned off the burner and got her ladle, getting a nice vial full of potion for the professor to grade. Hopefully Derf's potion hadn't contaminated it much...it looked orange, though, which is what the professor had said it should look like SOOOOO...yeah. Seemed ok!

Just as she had finished, there was ANOTHER loud boom and MORE potion went flying. She wasn't sure where exactly the boom had come from this time, but it was close. Alright, that was it. Scarlett was DONE. She let out a screech and jumped down, crawling under her desk.

"IT'S LIKE A WAR ZONE IN HERE!" she exclaimed. If she left this lesson with pumpkins coming out of her ears because of all the potion residue floating in the air she was NOT going to be happy.

Last step!

Daehyun first beamed, glad he'd gotten that far with only a small cut - which was quite the accomplishment - but then that meant that the end of the class was near... and he still feared professor Noble would make them test their own potions... he wouldn't put it past the scary man. Except moments later, he'd announced the end and nothing about trying it themselves! It finally brought a smile to his face.

He counted ten seeds and set them aside from the rest, before proceeding with the last step. He dropped one seed in the center of the cauldron, and stirred once counter-clockwise. Second seed, one more counter-clockwise stir. When he neared the last seed, he watched his potion slowly turn orange, and with the last seed and last stir, it settled into a- well, not the brightest orange as it should have, but close enough.

Satisfied with his work, he turned off the heat before filling a vial which he'd labeled with his name and house, and before handing it over, he cast a "Scourgify!" over the mess that he'd made. Now that was a spell he knew well.

Just as he walked to the front desk to hand it over, he heard a KABOOM. And then another KABOOM.

What was going on?!

Staring mortified at the gooey, icky mess, he left his vial at the front desk and walked hesitantly towards the place of the KABOOMs, recognizing Zoryn, to whom he'd wordlessly offered a handkerchief to wipe her face at least, since someone else was already fussing over the boy who'd caused the other explosion, and he also didn't want to throw a Scourgify at her face. He didn't trust himself to do that. "Do you-umm-need some help to clean this up?"

... he wasn't sure what to do to help the poor souls.

Default Somehow I missed the last step and just posted a catch up... oops?

Last step here we go.

One pumpkin seed in, one anti-clockwise stir. One pumpkin seed in, one anticlockwise stir. Why did it seem that all of the potions required you to be pedantic? She was so done with all of it. But the bright side was that this was in fact the last seed.

10 seeds and anticlockwise stirs later, she was looking at an orange potion. At least she got that much right. Her blue eyes scanned from her potion to the Professors and she was just hoping that her potion was as bright as the Professor's example. Especially because she wanted to see if she could recreate the potion, and having a sample nearby to compare it would be particularly useful.

That in mind she poured a medium sized vial to be handed in, along with a teensy tiny vial for her own use. If he let her leave the classroom with that.

Then, making sure that she packed up all of her things first, she finally approached Professor Noble with a wide smile on her face. "I don't think mine is quite as bright as yours... if I try it again, can I bring in the results for you to check?"

Ten fresh pumpkin seeds.

Junia took her time counting them out, not wanting to mess up the last step by adding too many or too few. She dropped one in and stirred, then another, continuing on like this in the same manner Noble had. She was on the eighth seed when Derf had a...mishap with his potion. YIKES. A mishap that had turned Derf AND Zoryn into walking, talking, pumpkin gut people. "Oh no." That was not an ideal way to wrap up a potions lesson, that was for sure. Suddenly she found herself checking on the color of Abey's potion, wanting to make sure she could prevent him from meeting the same fate as his friends. He seemed to be doing okay, though. She'd take her time wrapping up so they could leave together. That was the plan.

Wait, what number seed was she on?

...
....
.....

Eight. She'd added the eighth. Okay.

Nine. Stir. Ten. Stir. ...Orange. Yes. OKAY.

Once a portion of her finished potion was put in a vial and labeled with her name, the sixth year started cleaning up her work space. She'd survived the class and that was a good thing. Only the rest of the year to go...

She used a cleaning charm to clean her knife, scales, stirring stick and chopping board before washing her hands thoroughly ensuring no foxglove remained on her hands.

Now, it was time for the pumpkin seeds. Daisy carefully counted out ten seeds. She dropped one seed right in the centre of her cauldron and stirred counterclockwise using the stirring stick and repeated with each individual seed until all the seeds were incorporated in the potion. She looked at the potion and saw that it was a bright orange.

Daisy then turned off the heat and grabbed a medium vial and ladle and placed some of her potion in her vial. She labelled it "Daisy Swann: Third Year. Hufflepuff."

Daisy wrote down her final notes.


Daisy cleaned her workstation, packed her things away, ready to hand her vial in. She only felt confident enough to submit the "assessment vial"

Now this potion looked a little more promising! Noble’s lips twitched as took it in hand and looked up at who had produced it. “Not too shabby at all, Daisy. You sure you don’t want to take any with you?”

Back at her workstation she quickly weighed them to make sure that she had the exact amount before gently crushing them with her fingers, releasing the juices. With her knife she roughly chopped them up. After adding the chopped petals to her cauldron, she thoroughly washed her hands using magic and then proceeded to stir the potion in a counter-clockwise direction until a dark purple hue was reached. At that time she proceeded to give her knife, scales, and spoon an especially thorough cleaning to make sure that there were no remaining traces of foxglove on them.

At that point she added 1... 2... 3... 4... 5... 6... 7... 8... 9... 10... pumpkin seeds from the smile pile she had collected earlier, counting off each one quietly as she went, and giving a counter-clockwise stir between each one. When it reached a bright orange colour, Isabel knew that she had done everything correctly. Or at least correct enough to not have a messed up potion.

Pleased with herself, she turned off the heat and ladled some of her potion out into a clean vial before writing out a neat label and attaching it:



Confidently she placed the stopper on top and handed it in to be assessed, and yes, she wanted to take that second vial. Fingers crossed her work was deemed good enough.

Pompion Potion - Turns drinker's head into a pumpkin

Ingredients:
2 cups pumpkin innards, densely packed (sorted so no seeds)
3 flitterby moths
100g fresh bouncing bulb, stunned if necessary
4g fresh foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) flowers, petals only
10 fresh pumpkin seeds


Instructions:
1.Use diffindo to cut open the pumpkin.
2. Using a metal spoon, scoop out the innards, pulling out the seeds and putting to one side.
3. Put two densely packed cups of pumpkin innards in the bottom your cauldron with a cup of water. Set over medium heat.
4. Add three dried moths to your mortar and grind them to a SUPER fine powder.
5. Use a peeler to remove the outer layer of the (stunned) bouncing bulb. Finely chop 100g of bulb (measure with scales) using a silver knife and proper technique. DO NOT add to cauldron.
6. Once the pumpkin has reached a light simmer, add the ground moth powder and stir clockwise until powder turns grass green (four rotations if done right).
7. Add the bouncing bulb and stir until it is incorporated.
8. Turn down heat and set timer for 30 minutes. During this time you can carve the pumpkin.
9. Pluck the petals from the foxgloves, and weigh out 4g. Crush to release the juices and chop roughly. Add to the cauldron, and stir counter-clockwise until potion changes to a dark purple. Wash hands after handling the foxglove - it is toxic if consumed alone.
10. Add the pumpkin seeds one at a time, stirring counter-clockwise between each. The potion should turn a bright orange.
11. Carefully ladle a sample of your potion into a labelled vial and hand in for grading. If and only if I deem your potion safe, you may also take a bottle from class to do with as you wish.

And other bright orange potion. “This looks promising,” he told the sixth year as he popped the first vial into his tray for marking. The second vial he carefully pulled the cork out of, and used a clean pipette from a beaker on his desk to put a couple of drops on to what looked like an ordinary piece of parchment. He grumbled for a few seconds, leaning in to get a closer look – although at what exactly, it wasn’t clear. “Not bad, not bad at all…this is yours to do with as you wish.” With that, he re-stoppered the vial and passed it back with a nod.

Her attention was distracted from her mistake when her hand started getting itchy. Fwooper, she'd forgotten to go wash her hands immediately after touching the foxglove. Blue eyes caught sight of the beginnings of a rash on her hand. That could be ignored, for now. Abnormally calmly, Shera stood and moved over to wash her hands before returning to her seat.

She'd go to the Hospital wing after class if it didn't get any better, for now she could ignore it.

Either she didn’t want to use very much of the potion, or she wasn’t very confident. He’d hazard a guess at the latter, given her question. “Of course,” he replied. “You may use the Potions Laboratory if you wish.” Definitely a Ravenclaw. With a clean pipette he took a drop from the vial and once again scrutinised his parchment. “Passable, yes. It’s yours.” The effects wouldn’t last all that long, most likely…but it wasn’t hazardous, and he’d let it out of the classroom.

That done and potion now adequately orange, Jessa bottled up a bit into a medium sized vial with her name and house. Swiftly, Jessa cleaned her work area and moved to the Professor's desk to turn it in. Heading back to her desk, she retrieved the book she'd been reading earlier from her bag. Now then, where was she?

"I'll see you later." She told Cam, giving Bel a small wave too before shoving everything else back into her bag and heading out. She WOULD be testing the potion, but she didn't mind brewing it again up in her lab. She wouldn't take any of this back with her, somewhat humouring the man's request without turning away her own curiosity. See? Compromise.

Jessa didn’t retake her seat, now much too restless after having been nearly out the door only seconds ago. Instead she stood behind the stool of her clean work station, nose once again buried in her book.

What honestly else did they need to do before the man said they could leave? Her potion was done. Her work station was clean. Did he want a chorus of goodbyes?

He’d just looked up from Emmalyn’s bottling when he saw Prefect Eagle trying to escape from the classroom. Had she even handed a potion in? He glanced at the tray of collecting vials, grunting when he confirmed that she had. But still, he hadn’t told them they were dismissed. Apparently she was much too eager to get back to that book, even though she’d now thought better of leaving early and had returned to her desk. Well, there was one way to sort that.

“I don’t believe I dismissed anyone yet,” he said gruffly, his wand already in hand. He now made an arch with his wrist, silently casting a summoning charm on the book she was so intent on reading. “Consider this confiscated until after dinner. You will learn to pay attention in my classes.”

She put them aside and cleaned out her cauldron, scrubbing it with scourgify too. That done, she packed her things away, then taking the two vials up to the professor, waited until it was her turn to approach him. She handed one over, for the grade, then offered the other one.

"Professor Noble? I don't actually know that I would have any use for this potion because I don't think it would be a very nice thing to give to someone, but you can have it if you want." Bel paused and then added hurriedly, "Not that I am trying to give you something I don't think is a nice thing! I just mean... maybe you have a use for it or can give it to someone who wants it? If its... good enough anyway." Yeah. Anyway. Whoops. "Oh also I have a question? How come we were doing all anticlockwise stirring? What would happen if it was the other way? I mean, what does the direction of stirring actually do to a potion?"

…Prefect Ravenclaw dealt with for now, Noble turned to the next student waiting by his desk. Not nice? Somehow he’d thought Bel might be the sort to engage in pranks, but apparently not. However, her offer did give him an idea. One side of his mouth curled up into a smirk. “If you’re sure, Bel…then yes, if it’s up to scratch, I think I might have just the purpose for it.”

As for her other question? He ran a hand through his hair. “It rather depends on the potion…and who you talk to. I had many lectures at university on exactly this topic…different Professors had different views. In short though, stirring the wrong way invokes the wrong sort of magical reaction within the ingredients. I can discuss it further if you want to stop by my office sometime.”

She poured some of her potion inside, sealed it, and wondered briefly what the heck she would do with this potion. Who would she use it on?... Maybe time would tell. She had no plans right now, but hey, why throw away her hard work??

She left the potion at her station, while she turned her vial in for assessment. She took it up to Professor Noble for his say so that she could take some extra.

It seemed the opportunity to take a sample away wasn’t at popular as he thought it might be, although maybe it just reflected how confident people were with their handiwork. They were right to think he wouldn’t be impressed if they dared ask him about a potion that didn’t at least vaguely resemble his. Once again he put some drop on the parchment, grunting as he squinted at the results.

After what probably felt like a long wait, he held the vial out to Kye. “It’s not as potent as it could be, but you may take it away, yes.”

The prefect added the now chopped foxglove petals to her cauldron and retrieved her glass stirring rod to stir the solution in a counter-clockwise manner until... tada! Deep purple. Or violet? She figured it was the same thing, honestly. She wasn't really sure of the difference but looking at the cauldron of the person beside her, it looked just the same colour... which meant she was on the right track. Hoorah! Of course, she had to wash her hands. Still, she wasn't sure if she could trust any healer unless it was her parents or Healer Reed. Sorry, miss new healer lady, but it was better to be safe.

On to the last ingredient, if Vivian could remember clearly. The Slytherin had immediately counted ten seeds from the amount she had collected from earlier and set it closer to her in case she forgot. With her right hand holding the glass rod, Vivian used her other hand to add each seed one by one to the approximate center of the nearly done potion. One seed... counter-clockwise stir... two seeds... another stir... three... yet another stir, and so on until she had finally dropped the tenth seed into the cauldron. With one last counter-clockwise stir, the blond gave out a relieved exhale when the liquid inside turned orange. Very... pumpkin-y, indeed.

Finished! Vivian turned the heat off and filled a medium vial with her potion, labelled with her name, house, and year. She also did the same with another vial, because only Merlin knew when it would be deemed necessary. She replaced the cap on both vials before moving forward to submit her labelled one to the Professor, her testing vial in the other hand.

"You're a life saver," he grinned at her while she poured half her potion into his cauldron, not yet putting together that this meant that portion control and remaining ingredients to be added would now needed to be recalculated at LEAST - considering he had no idea Zoryn had also incorrectly followed any other instructions prior to his return to his seat. "I really owe you BIG time."

Uh...what step was this potion on now? "Pumpkin seeds," he read from his parchment, grabbing a fist full of them and beginning to count them off. It was THEN that he realized he may need to recalculate. Seeing as he had HALF the potion in his that meant he ought to reduce the number of pumpkin seeds in half too, yeah? Pushing five pumpkin seeds out of his hand, so that he had five remaining, Derf plopped the first one into his cauldron and watched it sizzle and POP into oblivion with his counter-clockwise stir. That was a good thing, right? Glancing over at Zoryn with a shrug, he added the second...stiiiiiiir...and then third...stiiiiiiiir...and then fourth...stiiiiir...and then the last seed was plopped in and juuuuuuuuust as he was about stir when...

KABOOOOOOOOM

Uh oh.

Potion in her hair. Potion on her robes. Potion on her FACE. Potion splattered all over her workstation (and Derf... x2).

He didn’t get chance to test Vivian’s potion before the first cauldron exploded. It was quite the catastrophic failure…he wouldn’t be at all surprised if it’d blown the bottom of the cauldron out too. Snot-like tendrils of potion were clinging to…well, pretty much everything, including the Hufflepuff Prefect, and Noble couldn’t help but wrinkle his nose as a rather pungent smell wafted across the classroom.

Only for the Zoryn’s to go too. Well well well. Making no effort to help with any clean up, Noble raised his voice. “And that, students, is why we follow the directions and measure things accurately.” Potions could be violatile things indeed if you didn’t. “3 points from Gryffindor, Zoryn, for cutting corners.” Yes, he’d noticed. “I expect a vial of perfectly brewed Pompion Potion from both of you on my desk by dinnertime. And you better leave your workstation spotless.”

As for the mess on them? Well…it shouldn’t do too much. The potion was designed to be consumed, after all. Not worn as a face mask. But…it’d be fun to watch and find out, no?

She added 100 grams of her bouncing bulb after that, stirred it a bit to let the bulb actually mix in with the potion, then set her timer for half an hour.

She turned her attention back to Derf, biting her lip. She'd wait to see if the professor needed any help, rather than carve her pumpkin (she was never a big fan of carving pumpkins, even at Halloween).

Finally, she had added all ten and done her ten counter clockwise stirs in between. She turned off the burner and got her ladle, getting a nice vial full of potion for the professor to grade. Hopefully Derf's potion hadn't contaminated it much...it looked orange, though, which is what the professor had said it should look like SOOOOO...yeah. Seemed ok!

Just as she had finished, there was ANOTHER loud boom and MORE potion went flying. She wasn't sure where exactly the boom had come from this time, but it was close. Alright, that was it. Scarlett was DONE. She let out a screech and jumped down, crawling under her desk.

"IT'S LIKE A WAR ZONE IN HERE!" she exclaimed. If she left this lesson with pumpkins coming out of her ears because of all the potion residue floating in the air she was NOT going to be happy.

Well, from over here it looked like Scarlett’s potion was tolerable. But since he didn’t feel at all like collecting her vial himself, she’d have to come out from hiding and hand it in if she wanted to get a grade other than T.

Patrick was surprised he had made it through this entire lesson without hurting himself. He was genuinely surprised that something hadn’t gone bang yet. Then he heard it, a big boom with a splat sound after it. Turning his head toward the middle of the room he found Derf covered in the potion. By the looks of it the pumpkin seeds were too much or something had gone horribly wrong with him and Zoryn’s station. He was going to ask if he was alright but looked like some girl he didn’t know (Zita) was already there. With a deep breath to calm his nerves after that loud bang, he began to count out the pumpkin seeds on the table. Counting onto the table first in hopes that he didn’t make his cauldron explode like poor Derf did. And maybe the hope that he had actually done everything right.

Now time to add the pumpkin seeds to the potion. One he mumbled dropping it into the cauldron and stirring the potion counter clockwise. He continued this nine more times wanting to do well. Stirring the cauldron one last time he peered over the edge to take note of what color the potion was. “Orange,” he sighed with relief as he pulled the stirring rod out of his cauldron. Now to give his vile for grading. Writing his name slowly and a bit nicer than the first time followed by his house name and year he began to ladle the potion into the vile.

He looked at the potion wanting to give it a test run...on his brothers. He bottled up a second vile to take to the front and ask the professor if he could take it. He was hoping that he had done everything right. Just as he set down the vile for grading he looked up at Professor Nobel “excuse me professor, could I take this second vile with me to try?” Holding the second bottle up for Professor Nobel to inspect and hopefully okay for him.

Yes, Patrick’s potion was indeed orange. Noble took the vial, lightly swirling the liquid around inside as he held it up to the light. The consistency was a little runny, but that alone wasn’t a deciding factor. Two drops were extracted from the tube and placed on the parchment, and Noble tapped his fingers lightly as he waited for…something…to happen. Apparently he was satisfied, and he nodded. “All yours.”

Staring mortified at the gooey, icky mess, he left his vial at the front desk and walked hesitantly towards the place of the KABOOMs, recognizing Zoryn, to whom he'd wordlessly offered a handkerchief to wipe her face at least, since someone else was already fussing over the boy who'd caused the other explosion, and he also didn't want to throw a Scourgify at her face. He didn't trust himself to do that. "Do you-umm-need some help to clean this up?"

... he wasn't sure what to do to help the poor souls.

He grunted a thanks at Daehyun as the vial was handed in. It didn’t surprise him that the boy didn’t have a second for him to give the once over, he’d looked a little flustered all lesson. Still, it was a decent effort by the first year, despite the cut.

Looking up from the vial that had just been placed in his hands, Noble checked on others in the class. Abraham was still lagging woefully behind, but Junia seemed to have kept him vaguely on track at least. And her potion was looking passable too. Hmm.



With only a few stragglers left to finish, and a morning coffee now desperately needed, Noble looked at the clock. Yes, it was definitely time to be done. “If you haven’t put a vial for marking on my desk, then chop chop! It’s your breaktime you're missing. Everyone else…you’re dismissed!” With a flick of his wand, the classroom door swung open.

Alright, that last part sounded tedious, but it wasn't really hard. He had already counted out his ten seeds, but he still checked again anyways. Eight... nine... ten! And then two explosions were heard across the room and potion was everywhere. "And that's why you always double check the instructions before you do anything in your cauldron, Hanna," he said sagely.

So with his stirring rod in one hand and one seed in the other, he began to alternate. Seed in the center, then stir counterclockwise. Pick up a seed, plop it in, and stir. Lather, rinse, repeat, as it were. Finally, the potion began to change color; by the tenth stir, it was pumpkin orange. "Nice!" Finn extinguished the flame as instructed.

He filled a vial and labeled it. Finnlay Muir, 5th year Ravenclaw. The boy delivered it to Noble's desk, but he had no need for a second vial. He could not think of a single reason he would want anyone's head to be a pumpkin, even for a laugh. Since he'd been cleaning his station along the way, there wasn't much left for him to do except a few random pieces of debris that needed removing.

"Have a good rest of your morning, Professor. Thank you!" he said. Then, after checking his station, he headed out the door as quickly as possible - but not too fast, wouldn't want a tongue-lashing after making it this far.

Juni took a look at the ingredients list and noticed that there was only one thing left on the list, the pumpkins seeds. Yessss, they were almost done. Potions just really stressed her out. Like everything had to be done precisely, or…..

The Ravenclaw turned to look around to see where the Kaboom came. The was so much potion everywhere and all over Derf…. And another KABOOM. And ZORYN was covered with the potion. Whelp that was the best thing to happen to her today. She almost rolling on the floor laughing. THIS WAS GREAT!!!

Sorry Derf, she was NOT laughing at you. Zoryn on the hand. Someone get a camera.
It took her a moment to get herself together so she could finish this potion.

Orange potion and Done. Bright orange, just like what she would have imagined potion that turned the drinkers head into a pumpkin, kind of orange. She picked up the ladle and bottled it up into a vial, and labeled it. She did the same thing except for labeling it. She thought it looked very close to what the professor had shown them. She turned off the heat, and cleaned up her workstation.

She didn’t hear the explosion just across the room from her. She didn’t notice anyone else hand in their vials. Truth be told, Jessa didn’t even hear the Professor’s reprimand about not having dismissed anyone from the lesson. The only thing that effectively pulled her back from the pages of her book was having the book suddenly ripped from her hand and flying across the room.

Blue eyes rose immediately, following it across the classroom mouth slightly agape as it landed in the Professor’s possession.

What....the actual.....hell.....?

She had been paying attention, for as long as there was something to be paid attention to. The Professor didn’t even have anything else to add, just a simple “You’re dismissed”. Jessa thought to ask what exactly it was she was meant to be paying attention to but didn’t want that “after dinner” turning into something more like a week or a month. Dinner was a whole lot of hours away and it meant a lot of missed time finding the topic she needed and less a chance she could get started during her lunch break but something told her this wasn’t negotiable.

With something of a soft huff, the Ravenclaw spun on her heels and exited the potions class without a word. It was a major setback to be sure, but she wouldn’t give him the satisfaction of sulking within view.

She was out.

Uh, of course not. Vivian was sort of expecting the Professor to just take it from her, but apparently he didn’t. It made her feel a bit sheepish as she handed her second vial to the man. “No, sir. I’d like to take this one for testing,” she replied. The prefect waited for Professor Noble to test her potion until....

What... happened? Vivian’s eyes widened as she searched the room for the source of the explosion, and was even more concerned when she found out it was from Derf. And... ew, his potion was pretty much everywhere. “You okay, Derf?” Vivian asked, but then realised just how to stupid that question was afterwards. Of COURSE, it didn’t look okay. What if the potion irritated his skin?!

Clever of him to have them save off the seeds like that. Katy pulled aside her seeds, ten exactly, and did as instructed: dropping one at a time into the cauldron, alternating a seed with a good stir. It came as no surprise when the potion went bright orange, although it was very satisfying. Maybe something more challenging next time? They could work up to it, perhaps.

Katy capped off her phial of potion, labelled it with her name, house, and year, and dropped it off with the professor. "Thank you, sir. If you don't mind, I'd like to stop by to speak with you soon." She could use his support in a few things. Following a pert nod, Katy headed back to her desk and cleaned up her supplies.

Finnlay crushed the petals between his fingers, then took his knife and chopped them a few times.

"Into the cauldron, little flowers." He added the petals and grabbed his stirring rod. Counter-clockwise! He stirred once, twice, a third time.. "You wouldn't call that deep purple, would you?" he half asked Hanna and half asked rhetorically. "I wouldn't." He slowly rotated his rod until it looked satisfactory. According to the clock, they needed to hurry up and add the pumpkin seeds soon, so he quickly made his way over to the water and washed his hands.
It was time to cut up her 4 grams of foxglove flower petals. She rolled them in her fingers like Professor Noble had demonstrated, and then chopped them up with her knife. Not too much, either. And then they were added to the cauldron with the rest of the ingredients. This time the direction WAS specified, which was a relief. Hanna added her stirrer to the cauldron, the same way as previously, and stirred counter-clockwise. Once, twice, thrice... four times...She peeked into Finn's cauldron and said "Hmm maybe not DEEP, but... deeper than mine." Five... si... FIVE AND A HALF. She wrote this in her notes, for next time.


At the clap of Professor Noble's hands, Hanna looked up. Next step! So this one seemed a little tedious, but her Gruncle had always said that about potions. She counted ten seeds, and put them in a pile in front of her. And she began adding... one to the centre, and one counter-clockwise stir. This was repeated until ALL of her seeds had been used.

"Yeah, I don't fancy messing around with potions," she said to Finn. Or spells, really. Magic in general.

By her tenth seed and turn, her potion was a lovely pumpkin orange. She felt very proud of herself! Hanna turned off the heat, and got two vials out. One she labeled with her detailed information. Hanna Newton, First Year Ravenclaw. The other, she just put Hanna. She cleaned her station, packed up her things, put it all in her bag, and gave Professor Noble the vial with the more detailed information.

"Goodbye Sir," she said, and left. The other vial she didn't want to use, but send it off to her uncle, as her FIRST EVER independently (with help) brewed potion.

What in Merlin's name were these people playing at?! Explosions and pumpkin guts eeeeeverywhere! Kye was beyond grateful that she had been up by the Professor when it happened, and not at her station. Aaand let's be honest, she had gotten approval on her vial, and that meant she. was. done! She had done an adequate enough job! After his say so, Kye went back to her desk which had a lot more mess at it now that those other cauldrons had exploded...

Grumbling to herself about how this was NOT her mess, Kye filled a vial or two and started to clean up her station.

Scourgify here, Scourgify there...

It took a few minutes, but Kye had finished cleaning, and was so ready to go for a walk. She packed her bag, double checked her station, and headed toward the door.

"Bye, Sir," she called, trying to balance out the fact that she'd forgotten to actually greet him on the way in.

He didn’t get chance to test Vivian’s potion before the first cauldron exploded. It was quite the catastrophic failure…he wouldn’t be at all surprised if it’d blown the bottom of the cauldron out too. Snot-like tendrils of potion were clinging to…well, pretty much everything, including the Hufflepuff Prefect, and Noble couldn’t help but wrinkle his nose as a rather pungent smell wafted across the classroom.

Only for the Zoryn’s to go too. Well well well. Making no effort to help with any clean up, Noble raised his voice. “And that, students, is why we follow the directions and measure things accurately.” Potions could be violatile things indeed if you didn’t. “3 points from Gryffindor, Zoryn, for cutting corners.” Yes, he’d noticed. “I expect a vial of perfectly brewed Pompion Potion from both of you on my desk by dinnertime. And you better leave your workstation spotless.”

As for the mess on them? Well…it shouldn’t do too much. The potion was designed to be consumed, after all. Not worn as a face mask. But…it’d be fun to watch and find out, no?

With only a few stragglers left to finish, and a morning coffee now desperately needed, Noble looked at the clock. Yes, it was definitely time to be done. “If you haven’t put a vial for marking on my desk, then chop chop! It’s your breaktime you're missing. Everyone else…you’re dismissed!” With a flick of his wand, the classroom door swung open.


ooc note: Thank you ALL so much for coming! I’ve had an absolute ball reading your responses this week <3 Class is now dismissed, but I’ll leave this thread open for another 24 hours or so for anyone who wants to finish up.

"Okay, great. You can have it then. I hope its good enough." Bel was relieved someone would get a use from it. Though she WAS curious to know what Professor Noble planned to use it for. Would it be rude to ask? And he was answering her question about the stirring. Magical reactions. Depending who you asked. Stopping by? Like..... stopping by to ask about school stuff in her own time?

"Maybe I will." She said, not able to hide the doubt in her voice.

Maaaybe not.

The sudden explosion had Bel staring with eyes wide. How pumpkin stuff could explode like that was beyond her. Imagine if there were more dangerous ingredients! On the bright-side she didn't get any exploded potion on her never mind the pumpkin bits that were still on her cheek.

"Thanks professor!" She said hurriedly, wrinkling her nose a bit at the pervasive smell from the explosion. Bel zipped out the door, glad she hadn't exploded anything.

Hopefully Derf was alright.

Harriet was pretty glad that the potion was nearly done. Whilst she did like brewing, sometimes it got annoyed, and long. And the hufflepuff was kind of done with the lesson now. So she was glad that they were nearly towards the end of the potion process. Hopefully that would mean that they could go soon. She was getting kind of hungry, so she hoped that she would be able to pop to the great hall to get a quick snack before her next lesson. She almost got distracted thinking about her snack. But she didn't allow herself to get distracted. She couldn't get distracted now. She was so close to finishing, and getting a good potion. She was pretty happy with how it had turned out, and didn't want to do anything to ruin her potion. And so, instead of getting distracted, she watched the professor to make sure she followed what he did perfectly

Hattie counted out her ten seeds, making sure she had them all. Then she began adding them to her potion, making sure she was careful to stir once counter-clockwise for each seed that she added to the centre of her cauldron. She was very careful to do this, to make sure that she didn't miss a stir. That would be terrible. She bit her lip, peering into the cauldron and beaming as she saw that it was orange. It was bright orange. Yay! That meant it was perfect, and good, and she was just really happy.

Smiling, the hufflepuff took her potion off of the heat, and carefully put some of her potion into a medium sized vial. She was pretty happy with how it had turned out. Smiling still, she put her name onto the potion vial, before she began to sort out her bench, cleaning up and tidying all the supplies up. Once she was all ready, she headed to go, placing her vial in for marking. "Thanks Professor. That lesson was great" The blonde smiled, before leaving the classroom.

Z had been standing there when Zoryn's cauldron exploded, what in Merlin's beard? "GROSS" She looked at her robes and hair as they were covered. Her glare went right to Zoyrn, NO ONE messed with her hair and robes. Taking her wand she cleaned herself up and cleaned Derf up again looking at him to see if he was alright. Hearing the professor speak to her directly she gave another look at Derf, a glare at Zoyrn and then flipped her hair and stormed back to her station.

Now back at her own station she started putting pumpkin seeds into her cauldron one at a time. The professor did know that pumpkins were filled with so many seeds, this step was going to take her forever. She half paid attention half watched Derf as she continued to place the seeds into her cauldron.

When she was finally done with the seeds and stirring counterclockwise she watched the potion as it turned from the pretty purple to the ugly bright orange. Whoever in their right mind thought Orange was the new black was sadly mistaken. Though the orange meant that it was done and she placed some in the vial. There was no way she was changing her head into a pumpkin so she didn't bother keeping any for herself.


Cleaning her workstation and placing her name on her vial she headed up to the professor's desk, "Here you are sir."

Zoryn just sort of stood in place, pumpkin guts and other potion gooey-ness all over her face and just about everything else (including poor Derfael Ashburry-Hawthorne). “That. Was. AWESOME.YOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Could they do it again???? She hadn’t even registered Zita's presence until the girl began glaring. “Oops?” was just about all Zoryn had to say on the matter. She was still in shock low-key. How the heck did that even happen??? She was sure she ALMOST followed MOST of the instructions KIND OF carefully ISH? Either way, if it weren’t for the total mess and rank smell, Zoryn would’ve been having a total blast. Zita was just being melodramatic, okay? Plus it was totally rude of her to scourgifying herself and Derf, while not even CARING about Zoryn at all. So rude.

Y’know, in her four years here this was her very first cauldron explosion and…. It may have been a fatal one. RIP copper cauldron, you were good while you lasted. There’d be no way her parents would replace it. She had just about dried up their fourth year budget y’know?

Anyways, that wasn’t the real concern at the moment ‘cause pumpkin guts were getting in her eyes and the explosion was actually not so awesome any more. She didn’t at all hesitate to take the offered handkerchief from the quiet Gryffindor boy (Daehyun) and used it to wipe the pumpkin remnants away from her eyes. “Thanks,” she smiled at him ‘cause tbh this whole thing was kind of hilarious. Smelly, kind of sticky, and a little messy… But definitely hilarious.

Hilarious until points were taken away.

“WHAT!?!?!” She threw her hands in the air in protest!! “Professor, that’s not fair!!” She didn’t MEAN to make anything explode. Technically she was just trying to keep up and also help Derf!!!! This was such cruel and unusual punishment. Did the firsties offer to help clean up still stand? ‘Cause Zoryn needed it.

Also, if anything, Professor Not-So-Noble ought to make Juni clean it all up. Did he SEE how horrible she was being??? Did he???? The Gryffindor grumbled as she began cleaning up her workstation (begrudgingly, mind you). How was she supposed to clean this all up AND make a whole new potion before dinner??????

Fresh Foxglove flowers. Just the petals. Rylee watched as professor Noble showed them the proper technique in removing the petals and than crushing them. That didn't look to difficult to do. First though she had to write down all her notes crossing off the steps she had already completed.

Slipping from the stool she made her way to the front of the room and carefully plucked a few medium petals from a flower. With the petals in hand she returned to her seat. Gently plucking the petals from the green piece she set that aside so she could measure out 4 grams. It was just slightly over. Letting out a breath she tried to correct the weight some before crushing the petals with her fingers. Than it was time to give it a ROUGH chop with her clean knife... taking great caution in keeping her tiny fingers far from the blade.

Into the cauldron the crushed up petals went. Several counter-clockwise stirs of the mixture turned the contents a really beautiful PURPLE! Rylee wiggled in excitement. Could she possibly just leave it like this? The color was so pretty!

Oooh! She had to wash her hands before professor Noble got angry. A good hand-washing later she was all ready to move on... even if that meant the color of her potion would be changing... hopefully. Or un-hopefully? She really liked the purple.

More notes. Mhmm. Glass stirrer. Yup. Got that. Notes were important. Directions were important. All of it was written down.

Ten pumpkin seeds. Time to get her little fingers all gooey again. Rylee grinned counting to herself under her breath as she pushed ten seeds to the side. Wiping her fingers clean of pumpkin goo she reached for a glass stirrer. One pumpkin seed into the center of her pretty purple potion, counter-clockwise stir... another seed an-

What in the world was that?! Rylee lifted her head taking in the scene. There was potion mess all over the place! Two of her classmates were covered in the stuff... was that Captain Zoryn?! Blinking she fought with herself to remain where she was rather than rush over and make sure her Captain didn't need any help. Did she need any help? Looked like the professor had it all in control???

Uh... where was she with her own potion?! Had the delay in adding seeds in mixing messed things up? Another seed and another stir quickly took place until she reached the required amount of both. Staring into the cauldron it was clear that it had changed from purple to orange but not pumpkin orange. More of a lighter shade of orange. Sigh. This would have to do. Using a ladle she scooped some of the orange potion up and into a clean vial which she than labelled with her name, year and house.

Huh?! It was time to go? Good thing she had just finished. Cleaning up her entire workstation and packing her things away, she slung her bag over her shoulder. Bringing her vial up to the front she handed it in for grading. "Have a good day, Sir," she smiled warmly turning on her heel and heading for the door stopping beside Zoryn. "I can help you clean up, if you want?" She didn't mind waiting or getting dirty. Anything to help a friend. Professor Noble surely couldn't get angry at her for helping someone now that she was finished... could he??

Derf was sorta just staring blankly ahead completely dumbfounded at what had just happened. He also wasn't sure if he was in PAIN or not...or maybe it was the shock of what had just happened that kinda sorta had him numbed. His calculations must have been wrong. Not HALF the seeds but one less since it was that last one (right?) that had caused this problem. But then another instant later Zoryn's cauldron was exploding too - and JUST after he had wiped his face clean of some of the muck.

Failed potion in his EYE and dripping from his robes, Derf heard the professor begin to scold speak to them and got as far as dinnertime when all of a sudden the man went completely mute. Though his lips were still moving. As were the voices around him. Like Zita who had suddenly appeared by his side again...and he was SURE Zoryn was speaking in a dramatic volume back at the Potions Master...but he couldn't hear anything.

Being surprisingly calm still - shell shock, surely - the Hufflepuff reached up to ruffle his sticky hair in confusion when his hand knocked against something firm and round protruding from the side of his head.

........huh?

Fingers moving over where his ear SHOULD be, Derf was instead greeted with a round and somewhat waxy textured...something. Though he could not see himself, his ears - yes, both of them - had morphed into two lopsided and flesh colored pumpkins. It was more the sort of shape that resembled his ears had becoming bloated really...but still bore some resemblance to a pumpkin. His hair was also looking a tad orange - though that may just be because of the potion shower he had just taken.

"UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH...." he spoke, oblivious to his volume since, well, he couldn't really hear now could he? "WHAT HAPPENED TO MY EARS?"

WHaaaaaattt....???? She just help the poor kid out. What's wrong with that? What if Emmalyn cut herself? And they have another Ronan? Noble is too uptight. "Sorry, Professor." Well, this mean she should get back to her workstation then. She turned her attention to the younger Hufflepuff. "It's okay. You don't get me in trouble or anything." The man didn't give her a detention or deducted a point from her house so it's all good. Alyce gave her a smile before she went back to her table.

Time to get back to her potion. After she heard the next instruction, Alyce head to the potted plants on the front desk. She picked one big and a small one before she returned to her table. She weighed the petals, after she's sure she got 4 grams, Alyce carefully picked the petals in her fingers and then crushed them very gently with her fingers. Now, its chopping time. The Slytherin grabbed her knife and her cutting board and cleaned them with Scouring Charm before she chopped the petals. She carefully added the petals into her cauldron and stirred it counter-clockwise using her cleaned stirrer.

Stir.....Stiiiirrr....Stiiiiiirrrrr.....

Alyce saw her potion slowly turned into dark purple. Once she's statisfied with her work, the fifth year went to the sink tow ash her hands. After she made sure that her hands were clean and hopefully she got rid of any toxicity from the foxgloves, Alyce head back to her workstation.

Final step. FINALLY!

1.....2.....3.....4.....5.....6....7.....8....9... .10....Ten pumpkin seeds. She dropped her first pumpkin seed into the center of her cauldron and stirred it counter-clockwise. She dropped her second seed and stirred counter-clockwise. She repeated this until all her 10 seeds were properly added into her cauldron. Alyce watched as her potion turned its color to orange. Like pumpkin. She turned off the heat and filled a medium vial (a clean one of course) with her potion. The fifth year was about to label her vial when she heard a loud explosion noise from Derf's workstation. And another one from the Gryffindor captain's table.

WHATSHAPPENING???!!

She quickly labelled her vial with he name, house and year before she handed it to Professor Noble. She want to get out of here pronto in case there's another explosion. "Thank you for the lesson, Professor. Have a good day." She said before she leave the classroom wrinkling her nose.

Back at her seat, Skylar waited for the next set of instructions, which was to count out ten pumpkin seeds and add them individually. Counter-clockwise rotations in between each one. Pre-counting in advance, the sixth year was grateful for that suggestion so it was one less thing she would have to keep track of - if she added enough or not enough?

One.... stir... two... stir... three ... stir... four ... stir...

WHAT IN THE NAME OF SALAZAR WAS THAT? Fortunate to have been sitting further enough away from the Gryffindor captain to not get any brunt of the cauldron contents, she did feel slightly bad though because clearly it was a sign of not being vigilant in all the instructions.

Right, back to her pumpkin seeds. She could already see the potion lightening up, but it would go back to purple after it settled... five... stir... six ... stir... seven ... stir... eight ... stir.. nine... stir... ten... stir.

Ladling it, she beamed to find it was indeed orange. And she ladled some into a vial to hand to Professor Noble, hoping it was sufficient enough. She also wasn't keen on taking this potion from the lab, because no offense, but she was definitely more likely to use the transfiguration spell.
