 If you suffer from FOMO or just want to be in the involved with everything, then the middle passenger cars of the train are for you. Just like the other cars, a long corridor provides access to the many compartments, each labelled with a letter, available for you and your friends to hunker down in until the train has come to a complete stop. Cushioned seats and large windows, allowing perfect views of the British scenery on your journey, await.
Well, what are you waiting for? Slide open a compartment door and make yourself at home. Place any of your belongings not in the luggage car on the racks above you. Chat with your friends about what your summer plans, enjoy munching on the snacks you bought from the trolley lady, get ahead of the game by exchanging addresses, or take a long nap as the train travels over numerous hills and mountainsides. Whatever you do, exhibit your best behaviour -- the prefects will be regularly patrolling the corridors and poking their heads inside your compartment to make sure you are doing so.

How could it possibly be over? The year had flown by and she was not ready to leave Hogwarts. The only thing keeping her somewhat at peace was the fact that her summer would be spent at quidditch camp. She couldn’t think about what happened in the fourth floor corridor with her Derf, she couldn’t think about her friend, Garreth, not returning in the fall, and she most certainly couldn’t think about that horrible Zita. Nope, her mind did it’s best to stay focused on camp and the few short months she’d have to be away from Hogwarts.
After dropping her trunk off at the luggage car, she climbed aboard and headed towards an empty compartment in the middle cars. It was still fairly quiet and she hoped someone would be joining her soon, lest her mind started wandering towards forbidden topics.

Rhea was feeling weirdly reflective as she made her way down the train's corridor, searching for an empty compartment, after having dropped her luggage off. The routine of it all felt very familiar and, she supposed, she found comfort in that. It'd be strange... maybe even sad... next year, when this journey was her last on the Hogwarts Express. Would she feel sad? Would she make the most of the time she had before then? Would she be her usual grumpy self? It was a choice that she could make, but... yeah, she didn't want to think about that yet. Instead, she had vague plans to work hard in her final year, achieve what she wanted to achieve, and thoroughly enjoy her last year at Hogwarts.
How difficult could that be, yeah..?
Ah. A free compartment. She glanced up and down the corridor once, on the lookout for anyone she knew and might want to sit with, but none of them were in sight, so Rhea slipped inside. She immediately started to make herself comfortable by stretching out across one side of the compartment. Then she put her hood up, earphones in, and head back. As soon as the music kicked in properly, she'd be a happy gal.

Summer was here! That meant looking for parties, going on adventures, camping... everything she could get her hands on. She hoped her family would understand how important it was for her to stay in contact with her friends this summer... not that she had any qualms defying them if they did seek issue. They would NOT keep her at her grandmother's dull parties this year. She had paid her dues, and she was turning 17 in just a couple more months!
As she looked for a compartment, the realization of her seniority at the school was dawning on her. She was in a conflicting state of confidence and pride... with anxiety and uncertainty. It was absolutely nuts that she was now a 7th year and she didn't know how to handle it. She decided binge eating on trolley snacks was going to be the way to go, but she was too distracted to remember who she was looking for. She decided to sit in with a girl about her age. She nodded her head when she saw Emmalyn, and tried to remember the older girl's name. Errrrr... well that would come up in a minute anyway.
"Okay if I sit?" she asked, not expecting a no.

She had made it through the feast and a restless night of little sleep but it was the morning where it all hit. This was it. The moment she stepped out of the castle…off the school grounds…off the Hogsmeade platform…it would be the last time. There was the last carrying of the trunk and loading it into the luggage compartment with Milo’s cage and her broom. Then it was off to find a spot on the train, debating if she wanted solitude or people around for her final trip home. For now she settled on an empty carriage in the middle cars.
“This is it, Milo,” Cassie remarked to her familiar in her arms as she sat down by the window and looked back up at the castle. Her hand absently scratching the cat’s head as she stared and he settled down on her lap for the ride.

She was in no mood for any grief from the Slytherin. Daisy entered the compartment with as much composure as she could muster and sat down.

Completely unaware of what had happened with Skylar up in front, Kye gave a casual "Hey to the newcomer (Daisy)." It wasn't much, obviously, but it was an opening for someone to start up SOME kind of conversation. She liked to sit with different people on the train so as to meet new people, but she was starting to feel bored. She forgot how different it was going home than it was going to Hogwarts.
When boarding the train, Kye had assumed her friends were going to the Prefect compartment which could get a little too crowded for her taste, but at this point... this car was filling up too. Could Kye start a conversation herself? No. Because she didn't want to right now. She wasn't feeling proactive enough for that. Looking at the newest occupant, Kye noticed that the younger girl looked some level of upset... Was that just how she normally looked? *Mental shrug* Kye thought herself a good listener, but... not if the talker was crying. That was a no go. | |

Her smile spread as the other students piled into the car. She gave a little nod to each of them and made sure her things weren't blocking any of the seats. "Kye, Daisy, Cassie, and Rhea, welcome! I was beginning to think I might be riding back alone." She giggled a little, knowing very well that the students typically filled up the train and there really wasn't any chance of her having a compartment all to herself.
"What does everyone have planned for the summer holiday? And of course you are welcome to sit, Kye." She wondered if any of her compartment mates would be going to camp like she was. Or, maybe they would be taking some adventurous vacation with their family. "Hi there, Milo" she said sweetly to Cassie's cat.
She leaned back in her seat and glanced out the window towards the castle. She hadn't realized how sad it would make her to be leaving, even if only for a few months. She would much rather just stay at Hogwarts over the summer.
