A scarlet booth might catch your eye from the moment you enter the Hall. Situated towards the back of the cavernous room, this booth makes a stark contrast with its green colored neighbor, the Herbology booth. Pamphlets on the care of any creature imaginable dot the surface of the booth's table. Perhaps you should keep an eye out, in case any creatures are lurking nearby.

The real attraction of the Magizoology booth comes in the form of its staffers; who doesn't want to hear stories from a dragon handler?! Scamander Zoo keepers likely don't lack for interesting stories, either. A chat with either (or both) of these staffers will surely be full of insights and tales of adventure -- or at least of many, many magical creatures. Stop by to see if you want a career on the wild side of life!

Daehyun had no idea what he was doing at the job fair. He was merely a first year, he had so much time left by the time he needed to start worrying about a career, didn't he? But of one thing he was certain - he wanted to become a magizoologist. As much as he'd become interested in magical herbs and remedies, as well as runes and curse-breaking, working with creatures for the rest of his life was still what he desired.

So there he was, hesitantly approaching the magizoology booth, which was intimidating, to say the least. Being around so many professionals was intimidating. Too nervous to start up a conversation, he busied himself with the pamphlets.

... and keeping an ear open for any interesting discussions going around there.

This was fun and what made it more fun was that Fintan was part of it too. They were going to have an interesting day that was for sure. Khara had come early to set up. She had zoo papers, and of course her many different items about magizoology. She also had her favorite subject to talk about in a medium size cage. It was a weird feeling not having Hercules with her, but life didn't stand still, so now she had her newest face of the nifflers she worked with, Plank.

As Khara got set up and took the cover off Plank's cage she turned to see the first person showing up for the say, a boy that looked to be a younger student. She knew there would be all ages and hoped he would find it interesting and enjoyable.

"Hello there"

It felt so strange being back at Hogwarts, having graduated longer ago than he would care to admit. But, in it's own way, it was exciting - after he'd graduated he hadn't really been sure what he wanted to do, so it was cool to be back here representing a successful career. And Khara's presence at the same stand just made it all the more enjoyable.

Darcy's represent.

Fintan was dressed much smarter than usual - his daily work clothes consisted of scruffy layers and protective fabrics - in order to exude some kind of professionalism to the students. One of whom had already approached the table. Fin strode over as Khara started talking to him.

As Zarina is walking around the job fair, she noticed one of the scarlet booths dedicated to Magizoology. She saw one of job titles dealing with dragons. Her interest is peaked. She sees a tiny first year at the booth and is impressed a young one wanted to know more. Zae made it over to the booth and saw two professionals there. Zae nodded politely towards them and is looking at the brochures. She couldn't help but comment,

"So dragon handling huh? What is it like? Do you guys get to like travel the world and meet all species?" Zae is always interested in animals and once she came to Hogwarts and saw Magical Creatures she thought this career path may be a possibility.

He's been spotted!

Of course, it'd been foolish of him to think he'd stay there unnoticed, even though he was rather small, so he felt himself flushing lightly when a woman (Khara) approached him. "H-hello," he said, and his eyes fell on the zoo pamphlets by her side. His shyness nearly vanished as he looked back up at her, his eyes basically shining in delight. "Zoo? What are the most-challenging creatures there?"

... so what, he had a weakness for those awfully misunderstood creatures that tended to put lives at risk. Misunderstood!

Derf didn't really NEED to be at this. He already knew what he was going to do in life - although he was sorta tempted to stop by the quidditch booth, you know...for back up reasons - but that didn't mean he wasn't keen to listen to what the visiting magizoologists had to say about the field. NAMELY...he wanted to hear stories and that was why he had also dragged Ian out of their dorm with him. He woulda asked Abey to come with him but...well........ "Ooooh, I know her," he whispered to his dormmate as they got closer and his tone indicating that they were like...good personal friends or something. Which they weren't. "She works at the Scamander Zoo."

Which, well, Derf was NOT particularly a fan of zoos for a lot of reasons, and it hurt him loads to think that his hero's name was attached to a zoo and not a reservation or sanctuary or something. A zoo. A prison for creatures.

Which was eyes his eyes also ended up narrowing slightly at her as they came to a stop and...oh...seemed the other bloke was a dragon handler. Well then...he had some QUESTIONS for him too. But not about his career, per say. Derf just still happened to have a stash of fireseeds under his bed courtesy of Professor Myers that needed to be put to use.

But first, he had a super important question. "How's Ralphie doin'?"

This was, of course, directed to the Scamander Zookeeper.

Unlike Derf, Ian had little idea of what he was going to do when the time to do things beyond pretending to study, putting off homework, sleeping at inappropriate times, daydreaming and walking his cat actually came knocking on his door. He was good at Arithmancy, liked Astronomy and actually enjoyed playing the cello. Which, of course, translated into him actually putting in the work for the three, most notably on the latter. But these interests were so disconnected and in completely different zones in his head that he figured they amounted to very little beyond just being things 'Ian Hoshino II is good at.' And besides; liking and being good at something didn't mean you were going to do that something for the rest of your life.

If he followed that sort of logic, then he could also model for editorials or maybe even be a singer. He knew he was objectively not bad to look at, photographed well enough and could actually carry a tune without bursting anyone's ear drums on the spot. But. At fifteen, none of these things made enough sense for the boy to actually give them any serious thought.

But he'd tagged along with his roommate and friend, anyway, figuring there was no harm on watching others be excited about what they wanted to do after school. Which was a strange thing for him, mind you; Ian could barely remember what he had for breakfast that morning, or what pending school assignment he was going to start procrastinating on, later tonight. "Huh." Was his very eloquent response to the familiarity in Derf's voice at the sight of someone he assumed was a magizoologist because... of course this was the stand Derf brought them to. He was nothing if not consistent (predictable.) He smiled pleasantly enough at the woman--and the man accompanying her, too. Mumbled at Derf, "Is this your cousin or something?" They looked nothing alike but Ian knew firsthand that meant little as far as blood relations went. After all, the physical similarities between him and his chestnut haired, blue eyed mother ranged somewhere in between extremely minimal and entirely non-existent.

She smiled as more children had come to their table, it looked like her cousin in law would be just as busy as herself, but she figured he'd be a little more because what kid didn't like dragons. When one directly asked him about the dragons she stepped aside to the other ones.

What were the most challenging creatures she couldn't help but smile, 'All of them can be challenging if you don't read them correctly or know enough about them. It is very important to get your certifications and training in the proper fields you want to work in. You have to know the classifications you want to specialize in and be very aware of your creatures. Each one is different like us with personality, so I could have a Niffler that is a challenge just as well as a Thunderbird. If you are talking about classifications on the most challenging I would say some of our larger animals can be but if you know what you are doing you can have a great relationship with them."

She loved all the creatures and had gone to school and back to school to get plenty of training and certifications to work with many different levels, though her main focus were the nifflers.

She had to look at the next two boys a bit longer before answering, because the boy he has a sense of recognition to him, but did she know him? When he brought up Ralphie, Khara decided he must be a someone who visits the zoo often, "He's doing wonderfully. He has an amazing amount of room to fly and roam around. He has adapted brilliantly. I'm not on his team of handlers, but I have been back up when needed."

Speaking of her specialty, "I do have my friend Plank here I've brought to show what I do at the zoo for anyone that is more interested in that." Opening the cage and placing the harness on Plank she let him wander around the table.

Watching Khara deal with the kids asking her questions about the zoo, Fin turned and grinned at the girl who was asking about dragons. And this was definitely one of his favourite questions to answer.

And, not so strangely, he found his thoughts drifting to when he met Ruby, and the beautiful Antipodean Opaleye's they'd worked with that day. "Then, when you're fully qualified, you can pretty much decide where you want to work, provided there's a job going, or you can locum, of sorts - kind of be on call to fill in wherever someone might have called in sick, or something. Dragons are native to different areas of the world, although some of the bigger reserves might have more than one type of species, especially where they've tried to migrate." Rocking back and forth on his heels - it was kinda hard to stay chill under these circumstances, you know? - the fourth year's bright blues flicked between Ian and the two manning this particular booth, his friend's question throwing him a bit. "No, nope," he replied on a whisper while shaking his head. Though having a magizoologist for a cousin instead of everyone being primarily herbologists wouldn't be the end of the world... "Why? Is it because we are both blonde?" That was...blondism. Or something. Not that Derf really minded.

So, really, Derf was only half paying attention with the ~~prison guard~~ zookeeper was going on about certifications and classifications. Sorta just catching bits and pieces of things, though her reckoned it would be sorta hard to ever classify a flobberworm as dangerous of challenging. Though thinking about flobberworms just made him think about Hufflepuff's loss to Gryffindor where they had reeeeeally had their bludgers handed to them.

Uh...what were they talking about?

OH RALPHIE!

Grinning from ear to ear, he had been expecting a story or anecdote or SOMETHING to appease his curiosity...not...what he was given. So that was just a liiiiiittle disappointing. But like, er, he couldn't really expect many stories when she just said she was not one of his handlers and was one of the lead niffler ones. "Ralphie is a Thunderbird," he whispered gleefully to Ian.

Speaking of nifflers...one was now on a harness wandering about the table.

"One of my friends has a pet niffler," he nodded as he offered his hand, palm up, for the creature to take a sniff if it fancied. Nothing shiny or appealing on his hands to note though. They had also handled nifflers loads in the creature barn and stuff, so Derf felt a bit confident in dealing with this particular creature right now.

And yes, Derf was deeeeeeefinitely paying attention to what the dragonologist was saying. Which begged a few questions from the Hufflepuff. "Do you ever ... you know...deal with eggs and hatchlings? Like...with some endangered species of dragons or rehabilitation purposes? Like the sort of stuff that gets done at the Galloway Rehabilitation Reserve?"

The EGGS bit was particularly important, okay?

Zaes eyes went wide when one of the experienced dragon handlers said they could travel. Zae did want to travel the world. Woaaahhh now that was something she was interested in. "Like sign me up.." she beamed. "Now did you have to go Wizarding University before applying or did you just apply in the ministry of magic. Did you deal with dragons at Hogwarts to get experience..?" Slow down Carraro. She stopped at these questions for now. I mean to talk to an actual Dragon Handler, she was a big fan.

Rylee headed right for the creatures booth after taking to the men about plants. Something in a cage had caught her eye as she walked around as upon getting closer she saw it was a Niffler. Squealing in delight she made her way to the women that seemed to be responsible for the creature.

"Hello! You're Niffler is adorable! What's his name?" she asked right away smiling brightly as she peered at the cute creature. "I'm Rylee! I LOVE creatures lots, I have my own rat and a fox back at home. What creatures do you work with? Do you work with Unicorns?! Those are my FAVORITE!" In her own excitement she had blurted out several questions before the poor women probably even realized she was standing there.

This was so exciting with more students coming over.
Khara just loved working with the students and bringing them closer to the creatures she loved so dearly. The boy seemed to be a little hyperactive or maybe even attention lacking as she says him whispering to a friend, listening, and then focusing on Finton's dragon stuff, not that she could blame anyone, dragons were fascinating. "You know Finton the Darcy's should team up together and bring a dragon exhibit to the zoo for a summer." Look at the educational programs they could bring with dragon eggs and babies. She and her cousin in law would have to talk about that later.

"Oh does she? They are very loving creatures, though if not handled properly could get themselves into trouble often. She watched as plank sniffed at his hand but turned bored of it quickly." "I do have some shiny toys we use to help stimulate and give the nifflers exercise if anyone would like to play with plank a little bit. It's just one of the many things I do with the nifflers as their handler. I make sure they get enough activities that stimulate their brains as well as give their bodies the exercise they need. I've helped raise many of them including Plank here."[/b] She had raised his father as well before he got ill she thought to herself.

The next set of questions made Khara chuckle a little, she loved the girl's enthusiasm. "I'm certified to work with many classifications though my main job at the zoo is the niffler area. We only have one and he is getting older, but he needs all the care that any other creature would." She knew that would give some interest for some and fear for others.

Rylee giggled as the women laughed as well. Most of the time the first year found it hard to manage her own excitement and this was one of those times. "What do you have to do to be able to work with ALL the creatures?" All of them. She bet it was a real lot of work. Creatures might not be what she wanted to do when she was older but since she was here she it wouldn't hurt in finding out all the details. "Whoa, really?! You get to work with him?!" Her blue eyes grew wide. "Is it scary? Has it ever tried to hurt you?" Basilisk's were HUGE! Ry had seen it once before when her family had gone to the zoo.

"Are the ones in the zoo friendly? Have you pet them before? What types of food do the unicorns like best?" Very important questions right here. "Can I own one when I'm older?!" Could she own one NOW?!

Turning to the blonde kid, Fintan nodded as he spoke. Man, the boy knew way more than Fin ever had at his age, not that the Darcy was surprised - if anything, he'd kind of just fallen into his job. "I did some training at Galloway last year, actually," he remembered fondly, before his mind drifted to Ruby and Flynn and having them up at the islands to watch the hatching. "But my main experience with eggs and hatchlings was with the Hebridean Blacks. They're mostly independent, but a squabble -" if you could ever call a fight between two dragons such a thing "- over turf injured one of the females, so she needed a lot of help with looking after her eggs. I was pretty hands on with that." And it had been ridiculously exciting, especially as it was his first big responsibility.

Ah, the girl was asking University questions. "I did study Magizoology at university," he admitted, leaving out the fact that he'd hated every minute of it, and had only really enrolled so as not to disappoint his family. "But there wasn't much of a focus on dragons, so I started working for some handlers, just doing all of the rubbish jobs, like cleaning, before realising how fascinating I found the dragons. I just kind of worked my way up, feeding them and stuff, before training to become a handler. You don't apply via the Ministry - obviously they govern the reserves and clans that deal with the dragons, but the hiring process is directly through whoever you want to work for." He paused, sipping some water from his bottle, before continuing. He did chuckle a little at her last question, and shook his head. "Nah. I mean, we did theory lessons on dragons, but never actually delt with them." Far too dangerous for a bunch of rowdy kids.

Khara's mention of his name caused Fin to turn, and he overed an agreeable nod and little chuckle as she spoke. "Yeah, that would be pretty cool, actually." They could talk about the logistics later.
