Charms Lesson 1: Remember Me today'scharms lesson takes place on a chilly early November morning, but never fear! Professor Marchand has placed several heating charms on the classroom to keep it nice and toasty. As always, there are refreshments laid out on the table in the back of the room. Today's offerings include mini cheesecakes and hot cocoa. The professor himself stands in his usual place at the front of the room, ready to greet the arriving students with a warm smile. Upon walking into the classroom, you may notice the setup looks a little different today. The desks are pushed together in groups of four, and at the center of each group of desks is a small maze. And that isn't the only strange thing! There is a cage sitting on Professor Marchand's desk; inside are many brightly-colored toy mice. Why does the professor have toy mice on his desk? Bel liked to arrive at her lessons in a timely manner and today was no different. She didn't mind charms. Charms minded her a bit sometimes, but Bel did her best. The previous year she'd been alright since moving from Australia to the UK meant she'd done half of her second year before she'd left, and started again in second year at the beginning of the previous term. So some stuff she had been quite ahead on, though there was plenty of difference between Aussie curriculum and UK curriculum that meant she was completely clueless about other things. She liked the charms classes here though, and she was very glad that the room wasn't too frigid. Thank youuuu sir. "Hello Professor Marchand!" Bel sat down at one of the desk clusters, glad to note it was obviously going to be a work in groups lesson, and either her friends would sit with her or she'd get to make some new ones. She took a good look at the maze on her desk cluster and the toy mice on the professors desk and then unpacked her things. She hadn't noticed the refreshments. |
Top o' the morning and Ace was already famished. Its like that breakfast he had earlier didnt last very long with all the things he had to do that morning even before classes were even underway. So yes he was looking forward Charms class to getting himself parked by the best table in the room-- the table that had the food. "Goodmorning Professor!" he greeted his Head of House brightly, looking at him and waving even if his feet are decidedly headed towards the back of the room. Hot cocoa yes! Downs a cup in one gulp, before grabbing another cup and a plateful of cheesecake, which seemed like its enough to feed everybody that he'd be sharing a table with.... if they get to his table fast enough. As the Curly Top settled onto the table he usually sits at, it was then that he noticed the small maze. And in hindsight the colorful mice on the Professor's desk when he greeted him earlier. Mice... and then cheesecake? Hmmmm "Not gonna be using live specimen today Professor?" he grinned as he popped a cheesy bit into his mouth. "They dont know what they're missing with these cheescakes mmmm." |
Daehyun's stomach was quietly growling and suffering as he walked into the Charms classroom, AND THERE WERE SNACKS. It was as though he'd sniffed them as soon as he walked inside, since his senses did sharpen when he was hungry. Smiling at his Head of House, he greeted the man with a bright, "Hello, professor!" before scurrying to the back of the classroom to grab a piece of cheesecake and a cup of hot cocoa. As his stomach was all happy and content, he settled at a group of desks in the front row, and let his bag drop next to the desk after taking out parchment, ink, his quill, and textbook. And only then did he notice the mice... and the mazes on each table... were they going to animate the mouses? How awesome would that be? |
Hai head boy :D Like Skylar would ever miss a charms lesson for anything? Arriving in what she thought was a timely fashion - early - the sixth year was pleasantly surprised to find a few students already here. It seemed she was going to have to up her game and arrival time. Also, strange thing about Professor Marchand being the only Marchand because it felt like she had just gotten used to having two. She hoped Mrs Marchand was doing well, at least. "Hello Professor Marchand!" she greeted with her usual enthusiasm. It was charms though and she liked this Professor A LOT and it helped him having an amazing subject. Now where to sit. Yes she noticed the toy mice at the professors desk but nothing to inquire about; they would find out soon enough. Oh look at all that cheesecake Tenacius had in front of him! Sliding into the chair next to him, she grinned at the head boy. "You don't mind sharing, right?" because way too much cheesecake there for one person and she was also looking out Vi later since that much cheese was bound to have flatulence effects on a person. And because she was lazy, she may have reached for his fork like no big deal. |

Kye had decided it was a coat wearing morning, and she was quite content in the cold. She happily made her way to Charms class, as it was easily one of her favorite subjects. She entered the classroom and was greeted with the wonderful smell of hot cocoa and cheesecake! Mmmmm if she ever needed a bribe to come to class, this was it. "Good morning Professor Marchand, thank you for the spoils!" she greeted him. She eyed the toy mice for a second before the aroma swept her back to the refreshment table. She grabbed herself a small piece of cheesecake, and the fullest looking mug of cocoa... sincerely resisting the urge to grab a few cups. She found an empty grouping of seats and took one of those. It was definitely a bit warmer in the class, what with the heaters the professor had set up. Kye removed her coat, and enjoyed a few sips of her cocoa while she waited. |
Daisy entered the classroom and was looking forward to the lesson. "Good morning, Professor Marchand! she greeted as she went to find herself a vacant seat. |
Perhaps being a Slytherin had its downsides too. It was November already, and Christmas time was drawing near. The cold was starting to kick in, rather unforgiving, and Vivian found it nearly impossible to drag herself out of bed in the morning. It was COLD, and she lived under the bloody Great Lake. It got pretty dank down there, honestly. Scotland was generally cold, wasn't it? But because she was a good student, Vivian sort of dragged herself out of bed, her boyfriend's That's more like it. Despite not being hungry, the Slytherin took a cup of hot cocoa for herself so she could warm her fingers. Besides, she had marshmallows inside her bag and she could totally plop one inside her mug for added flavour. As usual, Vivian found herself a seat beside Skylar. If there was anyone whom she would sit beside in Charms class, it'd be the wifey. "Hey, Sky... hi, Ace," she greeted the dorm mate and the Head Boy as well. Not the mention, that cheesecake looked good too. ... Wait, why were there toy mice here? |

To be honest... but keep this to yourself... this Gryffindor SUCKED at this whole magic thing. It wasn't because she didn't enjoy it, or that didn't want to learn, it has just not been something that has agreed with her just yet. But that's why we all come to school, right?! OPTIMISM. Freja confidently strode into the Charms classroom and studied the room and faces around her quickly, still smiling. She immediately was not a fan of the desk arrangement, but her attention was soon brought to the toy mice on the table. Her bet was that they'd be turning those into REAL mice during this lesson. Called it now. "Good morning, Professor..." Professor.... what's his name? Were those mini cheesecakes over there?? AHEM... "Professor.... sir!" Every guy liked to be called a sir, didn't they? Anyway... wait... had she even remembered to bring her wand? |
Well, Charms. It would be nice if the whole lesson was on heating..warming charms. Even tho Théo knew one but still, it would be nice. Théo walked into the room with a big yawn. Sorry not a morning person and oh there is the Professor. "Hi Professor Marchand" Yeah to a seat he goes, guess they were doing group work or something with a maze. Interesting or could be. He didn't even look at Marchands desk to see the toy mice |
Erik, sitting at Theo's table Charms! Magnolia noted happily how warm it was when she entered the charms classroom, not only that it smelled amazing. Her eyes were drawn to the food that the professor had laid out for them Oh yum. "Good day Professor Marchand." She smiled brightly at the professor before getting a cup of cocoa and headed for a seat. She took the one at a table Theodore was sitting at, then offered a smile in greeting. |
Charms. This was actually one of Hattie's favourite lessons. That was probably because she was pretty good at it. She liked charm work. That was why she was pretty happy to be coming to the lesson. It was quite cold, and so she had wrapped up warm. She hoped that the classroom would be good, since it would be no good to cold. She smiled as she headed up to the classroom. She hoped she'd be just on time. It would be bad if she got there too early. But hopefully she would be just on time. The blonde smiled still, as she headed into the classroom. "Hi Professor" She greeted, before looking around to find a seat. She noticed the desks were in little sets of four. She smiled at Ace, Sky, and Viv, but headed to an empty desk, after collecting herself a hot coco from the back. She didn't sit with her friends since she figured it would be good to not have a big group of older students. So she sat alone for now, and sipped at her hot drink. |
Charms was one of his favourite subjects, so Maxton made sure he arrived early so that he could get himself a place closer to the front. He greeted Professor Marchand with a smile and a nod before getting himself comfortable at a desk. That's when he noticed the maze in the centre of the desk cluster. Oooooh, this was interesting! He peered around, looking for any other clues about what the class might entail when he spotted people with mugs. Had he missed something here!? |
Not gonna lie, Matt's favourite thing about Charms lesson was the refreshments. Cousin Sophie would be disappointed. All he did when he entered the room was to send a quick wave to the professor along with a cheeky grin as he walked straight up to the refreshments table. What did they have that day, hmmm?? Ohhh, yas! Cheesecakes and hot cocoa! "Lovelyyyyy." The Gryffindor exclaimed happily, piling up quite a few mini cheesecakes on his arms after shoving some in his mouth, and levitating his hot cocoa so it would follow him to his seat. Back of the room, near the refreshments table, of course. Perfect! The seventh year put all of his stuff on one of the desks and sat back and relaxeddddd. Man, those cheesecakes were awesome. "Thanks for that, professor!" He said, raising one of the mini things up as if toasting. That was going to be a good lesson! |
Emmzz! Why.....HELLO, little Charm!bbys. Strutting into the classroom with her head held especially high, the blonde Gryffindor beamed at her Head of House. She was exuberant....mainly because it was a wonderful, pain-free day! No longer was she suffering from her monthly girl problems... and the monster cramps... The stuff that had kept her bedridden for the past week. It was bad when not even potions could help the situation. Just saying. .....Oh, snacks. Usually, Liv might've been a bit annoyed by food being present in the classroom, but it was getting colder and colder by the day, and that hot cocoa looked particularly inviting. So, yes... she was going to help herself. Dancing over to the table, Olivia resituated her bag and removed her gloves. The gloves were that thick woolen material that made it nigh impossible to carefully maneuver her fingers. In fact, she was sure she'd be making a huge unwanted mess, otherwise... Anyway, hot cocoa with added sugar and just a little bit of coffee creamer was the perfect start to the day. It was lucky she'd had some french vanilla creamer in her bag left over from breakfast. Stirring the contents of her cup, she carefully toted both cup-and-saucer over to a cluster of tables, where a Firstie (Freja) was sitting by herself. It was a familiar setup, reminding her of when she'd volunteer at muggle schools in downtown London. It was popular with kindergarten teachers. As for the multicolored rats and the mazes.... Why was Liv thinking today would be about Piertotum Locomotor? "How are you this morning, Professor Marchand?" Sip, sip.....and to the First Year lion she'd joined, Olivia grinned especially bright. "Hello, there! I hope this is okay." |
The only reason Zoryn came to class today was for the food that she knew Professor Marchand would have for them. He always brought snacks and honestly... Food >>>> Sleep. So here she was. For the food and not for the lesson. Walking into the room, the Gryffindor almost immediately went to the back to grab Marchand's offerings.... But she managed to stop herself as she made it near Professor M. "Good morning, Professor," okay now food. Zoryn wasted no time piling up mini-cheesecake on top of mini-cheesecake utnil she had a stack of at least seven of them. And of course she also grabbed a mug of hot cocoa 'cause the more the merrier, y'know? She didn't even pay attention to where she went to sit 'cause the only important thing at the moment was all of the cheesecake she was about to inhale. Life was grand. |
Ronan hadn't even bothered to throw on a sweater over his uniform before making his way to Charms this morning, because he knew Professor Marchand wouldn't make them sit in a cold classroom. So he was thrilled when he reached the classroom and found he was right. Another thing he was thrilled to see? Cheesecake. He had eaten breakfast, but cheesecake was always welcome (it was nothing short of a miracle, combined with teenage metabolism and exercise that he was all of 110 pounds instead of all big and jolly like St. Nick, honestly). So, yeah, he grabbed himself a mini cheesecake and a mug of hot cocoa and joined his fellow Gryffindor Matt at the table near the refreshments. A "Hello, Professor Marchand!" was cheerfully said before the sixth year dug in. Gentleman-like, of course. He wasn't a big fan of the messy eating style. Bon appetite, indeed. |
Zarina was on her way to charms class at least she wasn't late this time. She was frankly right on time. As she entered the classroom, she saw the charms professor was right in the center. She smirked and nodded towards him. "Good morning Professor Marchand" As soon as her greeting was over, she noticed cheesecake and hot cocoa. She frowned and shrugged and took the offering. I mean having a free breakfast was fine by her. "Thank you for the treats sir.." As she went to the back of the classroom to find her seat, her eye caught the cage with mice in it. She eyed it curiously and wondered what they were going to do with that. The professor would tell them soon enough. Now it was time to sit back and enjoy her cheesecake and hot cocoa. *slurp* Aahhh delicious. This was the breakfast of champions. |
Gryffindors Matt and Ronan Charms was actually a class she liked and would be on time for, though not too early she had to make an entrance. Coming through the door she saw all the right people and those people were going to be good enough for this entrance. "Hello fellow charms classmates." Her fingers wiggled as she took a look to see where she was sitting. "Hello professor, cute mice." She wouldn't have minded them being real, because they were so cute. Moving towards the seat she had picked, you are so welcome boys, she looked towards her friends. Magnolia and Theo got waves and an approving grin to Magnolia, this was a good pick for her, yes someone to snog that was already pretaken by his parent's rules. He could be a good snog for experience boy. Oh and there was Max she gave him waves as well. The rest got waves or hair flips deepening who they are until she was sitting in the group of four desks that had Ronan and Matt. "Hello boys, I guess you're the lucky ones today." Z never sat with ugly people so that should tell them something. |
Charms… yes that was one of Juni’s favorite subjects. No it wasn’t because it was what her father taught. That maybe have weight in someways of her why she liked the subject. But she would never fully admit it. She really didn’t like admitting to somethings. She greeted the professor as she walked into the classroom. ”Hello Professor Marchand.” WIth a small little wave. Oh were those mini cheesecakes? Normally Juni didn’t take treats offered in class but mini cheesecakes and hot coco too. She grabbed them and headed off to found somewhere to sit. To her relief there was few more tables with no one sitting there. She seen Magz and Theo she waved to them as she passed, maybe she should sit with them. But there was Zarina sitting there alone. If she sat there with her, at least Slate could sit there too. Two empty seats left for him to join them. |
Sitting with Zoryn ^^ Yaaaawwwnnnnn. She needed sleep. The worst part about needing sleep was knowing she couldn't afford it for another night if she wanted to remain on schedule. It was the natural problem that occurred when you started your Fifth Year with so many interests and only so many hours in any one day. Jessa fought to keep her eyes open, the surest sign the potion was beginning to lose its effect and her body was again trying to succumb to its natural need. Should've brought some down with her to breakfast but she'd felt FINE when she left her lab that morning. "Hello Professor." She greeted, trying her best to mask another yawn as she moved to the back to collect herself some cheesecake and cocoa. Surely the food would keep her awake--or...rather....the process of eating would. It was very likely that once digestion commenced, she would need to prop her eyelids up with crowbars. "Hey Zoryn." She greeted, slipping into the seat next to hers in that cluster of desks and chairs. The maze was interesting. Couple that with the caged toy rats and miraculously, the Ravenclaw was beginning to feel more alert. "This is looking like my kind of lesson." Mazes and test subjects. That's all she saw, really. |

She eyed the one sitting on the first cluster of desks as she made her way past, head already swimming with spells that might come in useful. She had enough mind to pause and greet Marchand before she got too carried away, at least. "Hello Professor." Her usual curtsy accompanied her greeting and then she was off to find a seat. "Ladies, I hope you don't mind." Honestly, after looking around, Junia figured sitting with Jessa and Zoryn would be the most entertaining. The combination screamed of amusement to come and the sixth year could use some of that. She settled into her seat and then focused on the maze, gaze curious. They'd be trying to get a mouse through this, yes? |
Jessi arrived for Charms class with her excitement level high, as usual. She entered the classroom and the first thing that caught her eye was the snacks. “Hello Professor”, she said before making a beeline for the treats. Cheesecake and cocoa.........probably not the best thing for a borderline hyperactive eleven year old to have right before class, but hey. She would just have to control herself, or at least try to control herself. Grabbing her snack, Jessi found an empty seat. It was only after sitting down that she noticed the mazes and the toy mice. She would have plenty of time to ponder what that was all about. First though, she would enjoy her snacks. |
