Default Advanced Rune Study

Around the corner from the Ancient Runes classroom is a study that is open to all students who are working to become accomplished runologists. For those who consider themselves to be advanced learners, this room is perfect for enhancing one's knowledge of all concepts of Ancient Runes. This space is also for those who might be struggling with the subject and want, at the very least, to get themselves out of Troll status.

Upon opening the door, one will not be surprised at the amount of books present in the study. Several cherry wood bookcases filled to the brim with (unsurprisingly) thick books. Spellman's Syllabary, Magical Hieroglyphs and Logograms, and Ancient Runes Made Easy are just some of the many titles that stick out at you upon first glance. Also housed on these shelves are varying levels of ancient script, some being pictures of real life monuments and others being delicate scrolls and pieces of parchment containing messages of the past. All items on the bookshelves are to be treated with great care and utmost respect. Mistreatment of any of these items will land oneself in detention before a protective Algiz galdr can be recited.

But there is so much more to this spacious room than just a series of books. Bright and colorful tapestries adorn the walls, depicting various scenes from Norse mythology. Beneath each tapestry stands an artefact related to each scene that should not be touched but rather admired. The centre of the room houses a large table designed for making rune sets and gandrs -- the necessary tools and equipment required for the making of these items can be found inside the drawers of the table or in baskets lying on the floor. Surrounding this work area are several groupings of leather chairs and sofas with accompanying tables that make transcribing and working on Ancient Runes homework a more comfortable task.

Explore the space and use its resources as you need. If you're in need of a break from your work or are feeling overly curious, turn the golden knob of the door tucked away in the back corner of the study and enter the wonder that is the Room of Runes.

Perhaps some would say Skylar was insane for attempting a NEWT in Ancient Runes. And maybe she was? But if she wanted to keep Cursebreaker as a career option, the sixth year had little choice. Which also lead to her being highly caffeinated as she sat with Spellman's Syllabary and Magical Hieroglyphs and Logograms propped open, attempting to keep her wandering mind at bay.

Was this why professors were keen on not providing students with caffeine? Because Skylar, despite her motivation to study, couldn't stop her leg from bouncing. And her brain? Was pretty much everywhere, but on the hieroglyphs from hundreds of years ago outlined on the page before her that she'd read about five times yet absorbed maybe one.

Ancient Runes was not usually a subject which tended to interest Professor O.Curtains. Not to imply that he was terrible at it - on the contrary, there once was a time upon graduating from Hogwarts where he'd been able to identify all the runes and several of their corresponding patterns. But alas! It wasn't a subject he'd thought of very much at all until recently.

The reason for his sudden interest in Ancient Runes and the reason he could be found entering the study room usually reserved for students could be traced directly back to the mysterious music box. The mystery of the music box was closer than ever to being solved. If only he could interpret the runes on the inside...

"Hello Ms. Skylar," he said absentmindedly as he set the music box off to the side and began looking through books. She seemed rather excited, didn't she? Or maybe it was just nervous. Or bored.

The problem with a wandering mind? It was SO easy for it to be distracted and led off course. Like, runes NEWT? Completely out the door when the door to the study opened not the Headmistress entered, but the new and eccentric History of Magic Professor.

Curious, though she was and jittery to move around, she grinned widely at the man. "Heyyyyy Professor Curtains!!" With probably way too much enthusiasm and volume for having just been studying Runes for ... uh, what time was it? How long had she been in here daydreaming?

Music box? "What you got there?" And did he need help? Because that would totally be some practical experience for the sixteen year old that she was more than willing to delve into. Especially if it meant ridding herself of some of this excess energy.
