Tucked just inside the library is Kalen's small private office, the walls are lined with bookshelves full of his own personal books. You'll notice several books on Latin, violin music and curiously even some old muggle fantasy books as well.

A large picture of the Cambridge Library sits on one of the bookshelves, as do his varying degrees. If one looks close enough you might see a picture of his family and a few students who looked familiar.

If Kalen is not at the Front desk he is in here seated in his high-backed leather chair. If you look around you may spot his two cats, Mr. Tumnus and Aslan laying on their own little beds, next to a violin case.

There are two comfy leather chairs for people to sit in on the other side of his desk.

Feel free to knock on the door and wait for him to open it and invite you in!

Cornelius just stared at the man. Stared. Azura snuggling with someone else? That made something stir in the boy. Jealousy? He wasn't the jealous type. Being jealous meant insecurity. Ah. The party. "Right," Cornelius nodded. His focus had been solely bestowed upon Azura, so the boy just went along with the flow. She had been gorgeous that night. When wasn't she, though?

Privacy was offered and the boy took like hot chocolate on a snowy day. "Yes, that's perfect!" he said with an eager nod. No need for gossip. Merlin knows he despises that. Lead the way, mister book-nerd!

Oops. Kalen could clearly see that his joke had fallen flat.

Worse than flat.. it was dying in the gutter..

Ahh Merlin.. He rubbed his face for a moment before sighing.

"I'm sorry Mr. Baltazar.. please follow me. " He said as he led the way into his office and ushered the boy in, he showed the boy to a seat before shutting the door. He settled down in his leather chair and was almost instantly pounced on by a large, black furred cat. "Meet Mr. Tumnus. " Kalen said as he scratched the cat behind the ears and turned his attention towards Cornelius..

"I must apologize once more for my words. It was you I saw her snuggling with, that was all. I didn't mean to imply something else was happening. " He knew Azura was all heart eyes for the boy, so.. something else must have been bothering him..

"Anyways. You said you had some questions? Would you like some tea before we get to them? " He asked kindly, wondering what was on the boys mind.

Yeah, you messed up, book-dude. Cornelius wasn't judging, but it did not make his matters any better. This was serious talk. As rare as that was.

The Slytherin followed the older man and took a seat. He was unimpressed by the supposed joke that he was literally unimpressed at everything. Including the big fluffy cat.

Hi, cat.

Goodbye, cat.

That was his attention. Attention which was back on the librarian. "What breed is Mr. Tumnus?" he asked before continuing. The man seemed nervous, and seeing he was a relative of his girlfriend, Cornelius decided to be more aware of this man's feelings. Maybe he was ready to wet his trousers by the looks of it. One could never be too sure.

"It's alright. It would be funny if there wasn't a worm in my head." Because that was such a normal thing to say. As for tea, Cornelius nodded. Tea during serious talks were a must. His mum says so. "Sure...please."

Merlin, this was going easier than he thought.

It was awkward as Fawkes trying to ride a tricycle.

Kalen looked at Cornelius as he spoke and he smiled a bit. "He's a Maine Coon actually.. and Aslan over there.. " He said nodding over to the orange cat snuggling on its bed "Is a Flame point Siamese. " He explained as he looked at the boy, hoping to get past the awkwardness of his utter failure just moments ago.

"A worm in his head? " Now that certainly wasn't a usual comment but Kalen let it slide, he was trying to get through this meeting without messing up again, usually he handled any sort of tricky situation with remarkable aplomb. He WAS a Slytherin after all. But he had never dealt with boyfriends of a semi-recently discovered niece. Kalen felt like he was treading water in an extremely stormy sea..he was way out of his league here, but here's to doing the best to get through it..

"Tea it is then. " He said as he waved his wand and a tea set came floating towards him, he let water from his wand pour into his tea pot and he used a charm to heat it up, the water needed to be boiling after all. He placed two tea bags into blue patterned cups, and then looked over at the boy as the water heated up..

"So your questions? " He asked as he raised an eyebrow still curious as to what this was all about!

Cornelius hadn't noticed the other ~~beast~~ cat. His lip quirked up a bit. "Where're Susan, Peter, Edmund and Lucy?" He certainly recognized the first two names to a story Peyton used to read him when he was a kid.

The boy watched the librarian, studying him carefully with his bright green eyes. For a moment he allowed himself to lean back and relax on his seat, but then he remembered; during serious talks you sit with your back straight, ready for business.

"My friend's questions." Just so they get that straight. A friend. "They're about love. I've--my friend's been looking for books on the subject, but can't find any answers that satisfy them. How do you know when you're in love?"

Kalen cracked a smile as Cornelius spoke and he inclined his head. "Well if I get any more pets, those names would surely be on the list. " He said with a smile, he was pleased with the knowledge of the Narnia books.. and a part of him was incredibly happy with his choices.. "They are my favorite books.." He explained..

He nodded as the young Slytherin spoke.. "Of course, your friends questions. " Kalen said as the tea kettle started to whistle and he reached out and poured some boiling water into their tea cups and pushed one towards Cornelius..

And then he spoke..

Oh dear Merlin.. Kalen was going to need that tea. "How do you know your in love? " He repeated back, before leaning fully back against his chair, his hands folded together and his one eyebrow arching to the heavens.

Well..

This was not what he had expected. And he wasn't sure exactly how to deal with this, but surely honesty would be the best policy yeah? One hand came up to nervously fix his bangs, though his voice when he spoke was calm and clear.

"I've only been in love once, when I was around your age actually.. and it was the greatest and scariest feeling in the world..Suddenly my life didn't revolve around me anymore.. she was my universe, the only thing that mattered was her happiness, I would do everything I could to keep that smile on her face. " He hadn't talked about Serena for a long time.. "But it was the little things, when I got into a room, she was the first person I would look for, the first one I would want to tell things too, I missed her instantly when she left my presence.. and when you would look at her.. you can't imagine how you would breathe if she wasn't there.. That's love.. " He said with a soft smile as he rubbed at a place on his finger..

"That almost makes me want to gift you some more pets, sir," Cornelius said, his dimply smile making an appearance. The boy was suddenly struck by something when he said 'sir'. His dad would be highly disappointed in him. Not that he cared...but he really did. Proper introductions.

"I'm Cornelius Orion Baltazar, by the way," he said, standing up and extending a hand towards the man. He'd seen him at the ball, but you know, when one had a gorgeous girlfriend all eyes and attention were on her.

Green eyes were now studying the older man for a reaction. For words. For answers he desperately sought. Cornelius hadn't dared ask his dad. Xavier Baltazar would recite his love story with his mother and, even though it was one of the novel-worthy stories, Cornelius was bored of it. If he asked his mother he'd devastate her poor heart because she was no longer the only woman in his heart. And his sisters, well...Yvonne had no time what with her kids and her agency. Yvette was all the way in Egypt and uptight, and most likely wouldn't care. Yvanna...well, Yvanna was modeling somewhere. That leaves Peyton. Where she would be the perfect candidate to ask, she was like their father and would recite her love story with Seth. Great story, but he's heard it countless of times.

Huh. Cornelius kind of wanted his own. His own love story.

~~A love story with Azura???~~

His eyes had strayed for a bit, but they were soon back on the librarian. The boy listened intently at the edge of his seat. Comparing what Mister Books said to what...his friend felt. One name popped up every time. One face, one person. A beautiful pair of dazzling purple eyes that made his heart go wild...

All be...damn.

His life didn't revolve around Quidditch anymore...

...And he was missing her already...

Cornelius licked his lips, carefully processing the information.

His bum scoot closer to the edge of the seat. A little more and he'll be on the floor. "I'm--I mean, my friend. My friend isn't too young to feel that? And how do you tell love and lust apart?" All. The. Questions.

Kalen chuckled softly as Cornelius spoke and he picked up his cup of tea and slowly started to drink it.. "You could try, I'm not sure how well these two would get along with them. " He said as he waved his hand back in the general direction of his cats. Both were now laying contentedly in their beds purring softly. The sound was soothing and hopefully would put guests at ease.

"It's nice to meet you Cornelius. " Kalen said as he leaned forward and shook the boys hand.. "Kalen Kennedy,. But please call me Me.Kenendy while at school. " Proper protocol and all..

He leaned back in his chair and took another sip of his tea, hoping the warm liquid would soothe his nerves and calm the memories that this conversation was bringing up.. His hand once again went to his ring finger on his left hand, but the long worn band was no longer there. He had taken it off before he had gotten to Hogwarts. It was time for a full fresh start. He just hoped no one would remember.. No one but Tristan at least.. he knew..

He considered the boys words carefully, his green eyes looking at the curly haired Slytherin for a moment before measuring his words. "Too young? Some many say so, I myself do not. Love isn't limited by anything, least of all age.." He said softly. "It happened to me when I was your age.. " He said again, and it was the greatest eight years of his life..

The final question though.. hmmm..

"Let me answer your question with another question, do you.. err your friend.. " Kalen corrected "Put this persons needs above their own? Would he do whatever he could for the person he cared about, whatever was best to see them happy? If yes.. that's love. "

He shouldn't have said that. 'You could try' gave Cornelius a full green light and his mind was already thinking up ideas. Maybe a huge eagle owl like his dad's to scare off the cats. OR one of those overly fluffy kneazles. Oooh. This was going to be epic. "The Narnia family must be complete," the boy grinned. Come to think of it, the librarian reminded him of someone...

There. Proper introductions. His father would be proud.....like he cared. The name Kennedy struck. The Slytherin perked up. "I have a Kennedy. His name is Kennedy, surname Escalante, though." Just FYI. His cousin was the head in charge in Law Enforcement at MACUSA, and Corn was considerably fond of him. "May I call you uncle Kalen when not in school?" Get it. "Kidding," he added quickly with an easy grin. He wasn't sure how Azura would feel about that one. Probably laugh. She laughs at all his jokes. So precious.

This time to boy's gaze caught the man's gesture. The touch of the third finger on his left hand. Coming from a family with frequent engagements, weddings and babies, Cornelius knew the signs. Did he have a hidden ring there? Under the Disillusionment Charm like his sister Yvonne when she'd gone off and secretly married? My, my, Mister Librarian.

BROWS AT YOU.

A question for him now. Well, for his friend. Cornelius thoughtfully chewed on the inside of his cheek, his fingers tracing the handle on the cup in front of him. "I think," he started slowly, "I think...he'd do anything for her. He'd defy his mother if he had to..." The boy's drifted off. He'd never openly consider that, but that day Azura and his mum had met he'd taken Azura's hand and gone off with her. That same morning his mother had offered him tickets to his favorite band that evening. His mother NEVER ever offered band tickets because she thought of them of vandals, and he knew what she was up to, but that night....He'd chosen Azura...

...Woah...

Kalen grinned a bit as Cornelius spoke, "Yes, I suppose it must, perhaps one day. " He said as he looked over at his cats and then back at the boy in front of him, perhaps this talk wasn't going so bad after all?

That remained to be seen but at least it seemed like they had gotten over his awkward joke..so there was that right? Merlin he should have talked to Leon about all this, boyfriends.. how was one supposed to deal with them? Maybe just talk yeah? "Ahhh yeah, well our surname is Kenendy. Can you imagine if one of us was named Kennedy Kennedy? " He asked with a chuckle.. before his green eyes went wide..

WIDEEEEE at his next words..

"Uncle? " he squeaked out as he looked down at the boy.. was there something someone wanted to tell him.. ohhhh...

Thank Merlin!

He was kidding. And Kalen felt like he had been about to have another panic attack.. not.. funny.. ahh well.

Tea? Yes! Tea helped. Kalen took another sip of his tea and took a breath.

Yes a deep calming breath.. he was fine! Fine!

He took another calming sip of tea and looked st the boy as he spoke.. a smile on his face.. "Seems like your friend may love this person then.. " He said with a nod..

Cornelius nodded. It was never too late to complete a family. You should ask his who resembled a quilt with different and odd patches.

Feeling immensely relaxed than when he had first approached the man, Cornelius laughed at the mention of Kennedy Kennedy. "I cannot imagine that but I do have an uncle once removed who's name is Maximus Maximus. You could imagine our family reunions with all eight son's of his." You call out for one Maximus and eight of them turn around.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!

The boy laughed. A genuine laugh that sneaked out of him. Look at the man lose his marbles at his comment. "It was simply a joke, sir." His reaction was a lot more amusing that the joke itself, though.

The man's answer struck Cornelius square on his forehead. SLAP.

The boy took a sudden sip of his tea, forgetting it had recently been boiling. A string of profanities left his mouth, but he promptly shut it. "Sorry. This f--hot. Really, really hot." His poor tongue!!!

ANYWAY. "What if there's an ex boyfriend in the mix?" he asked, sucking in breathes to cool the burn. "My friend, he really dislikes this dude and...maybe--just maybe-- that's what's stopping m--my friend from accepting this love thing? Do you think that's possible? Should he hex the dude out or what?" Now these were desperate questions.

Cornelius had sacrificed his friendship with a certain blonde to make Azura feel more at ease, but she still spoke to Chris, and that made him a whole lot of uncomfortable. He didn't know if he was doing right or wrong. All he knew was that it left a sour taste in his mouth and he wasn't all too happy about it.

Kalen chuckled slightly as the boy told his story.. "That would indeed be funny to behold. " He said as he took another sip of his tea to calm himself down. That had not been a funny joke, but then again maybe it was payback for his less than amusing comment earlier?

Whatever it was Kalen simply nodded.

Though it was hilarious to watch the boy inhale his tea and then.. Kalen raised an eyebrow at him as he heard the words coming out of his mouth.. and part of him wondered if he was mad at the love thing.. or the hot tea?

Kalen nodded.. "I understand.. " He said softly as he looked down at his cup..

Ahh an ex boyfriend? Did Kalen know about this guy? Was it.. Chris? He had met him one.. seemed nice.. watched his niece and nephew barely conceal their eyes rolls around him though..

Kalen looked down at his tea for a moment before responding.. "Seems to me your friend might be grasping at staws.. If the ex is really bugging him, has he talked to his person about it? What do they feel about the ex?

Is he really what's stopping him from accepting that he loves his person..'or is it something else? " He asked softly.
