Default Slytherin House Table

The house-elves have been hard at work, leaving the Great Hall spotless, the tables set with pristine silverware, and delicious smells floating up from the kitchen. Your stomach might be growling, but it isn't quite time to eat yet.

Hopefully the Headmistress will make her speech before you chew your way through your House table.

"Hello everyone," Junia curtsied before taking up an empty seat. "Hello Bloody Baron, Sir." What was he saying about forks and cards? The fourth year raised her eyebrows slightly and followed his gaze, curious.

The Baron sure was loud. But maybe being a ghost made you needy for attention.. He wasn't sure really. "Hello, Baron." Oliver hadn't spent much of his time talking to the house ghosts.. So maybe this year he'd take the time to ask the Baron a few questions.

A girl next to him said hello to the ghost as well.. She looked familiar. "Junia, right? You were on the camping trip?" He asked and smiled in a friendly manner. "I'm Oliver." He thought they met but it was tough to remember people you met in passing sometimes.

As Zarina was waiting for Declans reply, she felt this intense cold chill. She shuddered and wondered where it was coming from. She saw the answer floating in front of her. She tilted her head and wondered who this guy was. Wait he was a house ghost right? She remembered reading it in History of Magic before coming here. She didn't want to be an outcast or anything. "Wait a minute your the bloody baron aren't you?" She just had to get it out there.

Jeez why was she getting criticized for playing with utensils. It wasn't a crime. "Ermm I am bored so what else am I supposed to do? I am sitting here and socializing. I can't multi task?" She was referring to the deck and cards and the fork. "I would offer you to play with the deck of cards but seeing your circumstances..." she looked at him up and down and shrugged.

As she addressed the slytherin house ghost, she saw the semi cute older boy chuckling at her stink eye. She rolled her eyes playfully and knew it wasn't effective. He even sent one back and she was impressed. This kid knew how to take a joke. "Eeehh I am bored and it was the only thing in close proximity.." she shrugged. "I mean I could have been playing with the knives but then I might be sent to St. Mungos and I do want to stay here.." She didn't want to make a bad impression her first time here at Hogwarts. "So what year are you?" He seemed to be older than her that's for sure.

As Zae was busy making semi conversation, she saw one kid that looked like her age. He seemed cute in her opinion. She waved to her fellow slytherin (Maxton) and motioned for him to come over here.

She must be from a wizarding family Zae needed to remember that. She chuckled to herself and obviously it wasn't this deck. Zae questioned, "What made you get the Tarot Cards? I heard it is a heavy branch of magic to studyy.." I mean he (Declan) was old enough to handle it clearly.

"Yeah the game is not hard at all. I mean if my siblings could get it which is not saying much, anyone can. You down for a game before the food comes?" I mean it will kill time. Plus she could have bragging rights if she won.

Oh right right. Time for introductions. Zae held out her hand and shook it with blondie whose name now was Katy. "Nice to meet ya Katy. I am Zarina or Zae for short.." She didn't care which. She heard the older dudes name was Declan. "Nice to challenge you Declan." I mean usually card players were friends right?

She caught one dude looking at her funny. She gave him a little stink eye to challenge him. She raised an eyebrow at (Oliver) and thought there was nothing wrong with playing with utensils.
Were they really challenging each other (slightly) over a fork? Declan's brown eyes drifted from face to face as he further assessed the situation. It was best he kept out--minded his business, drove down his good little lane. After all, he was well aware what teenage girls were capable of. He had a younger sister. There were many lessons learned.

Inquisitiveness was a trait he admired as long as it wasn't directed at his person. Declan watched the girl as he fiddled with the buttons of his school shirt. "It's not that heavy," he drawled, turning his direction towards the staff table for a moment. How did all of them look like they were getting ready for a photoshoot for Witch Weekly? Was that planned or rehearsed? "I just muck about. Nothing serious."

The girl...was funny..and so was Katy. The younger girls always were. There was an odd charm to them, he had to admit, but he still didn't really get it.

"I'm down for a row, if you are."

Where had the Bloody Baron come from and most importantly: why? Declan's brow drew together in an acrid mixture of confusion and annoyance. He had nothing but indifference in the past for the ghosts of Hogwarts but after what happened last term he couldn't say the same. Now every time he thought about what had happened to his fellow students, to what he himself had experience with his brother all thanks to the supernatural beings of Hogwarts (and how very little help they were thank you)--well he really thought they had no business in his business or anyone's business.

"The deck of cards is mine," Declan clarified raising one dark eyebrow. "I brought it because I always have it with me. We're just killing some time." Declan grinned. "Sometimes time seems to move very slowly. I think you'd understand that feeling, Sir."

His brown eyes tore away from the silvery figure of his distaste to a girl he thought should be familiar but as usual he could not place. "Hey," he greeted softly.

"She's testing it," Declan answered in Zarina's behalf only a little annoyed why suddenly everyone was very interested in what a girl was doing with her fork. What was the issue? It wasn't as if she was stabbing people with it. Or was that their fear. "Look," he said reaching for a spoon and spinning it around the table. Declan gestured at it. "It works."

"I think the Bloody Baron has been through enough Wars," Declan told Zae with a slow nod. He flashed her a grin. "We should save this one for us."

Katy rubbed her chin and tried to cover up any chagrin at mistaking the cards for Tarot. It wasn't her fault that he was acting so shifty. And it was all genetics that made her suspicious and just slightly paranoid. It kept a Toussaint alive!

"I'd honestly rather do Tarot, but I can play." Katy tilted her head back and forth before pointing a single index finger at Declan. Probably rather too close to his face for his liking, but whatever. She was EXCITED. "Kenning! Yeah? You look like her. Althea. In the..." She made a broad gesture at her face. The cheekbones were killer in both of them. And Althea said she had a brother called Declan.

The little snakelette was showing her Slytherin side. It didn't take long to come out, did it? Katy leaned in and quirked an eyebrow. "Nothing. I'm not threatening you. You'll know if I'm threatening you. Regardless, be careful, hmm?" And she'd just ignore the implication that they were too stupid to play a harder game than War.

Katy waved at Junia as she approached the table, and her arm passed through the house ghost, who had taken up the seat beside her. Why there? Why her? And WHY WAS HE SHOUTING? Rubbing at her ear with a wince, Katy gave him a hard look. "Inside voice, Baron. Inside voice."

As Zarina challenged Declan, he seemed to be a smart man and learned to shut up. He knew he wasn't going to win. Zae noticed Declan was fiddling with his buttons on his shirt. Why was he doing that? She scrunched her eyebrows and was looking at him. "Aahh I see. So I shouldn't be worried if you use them for like calling death or anything?" She was teasing him just a little bit. Zarina returned her attention to Katy and raised an eyebrow at her comment. She would know if she was threatening her? Challenge accepted. "Yeah yeah whatever.." she waved off her warning. As Zae was dealing, Katy didn't seem that interested in the card game. "Did you have a better game in mind?" Come on ideas needed to be shared it seemed.

SWEET! Least Declan was down for a game.

"Alright mate let's draw..."

She flipped up her first card and got a 5 spades black. She wondered what Declan would have. She heard him talking to the bloody baron and she forgot to mention the tiny detail that the deck of cards were his in the first place. She just borrowed them for a second. She snorted at his comment about time moving slowly and motioned for him to give her a high five. "That was a good one.." She heard Declan talking to her and she agreed with his comment yet again. "Tis true, this war we can fight on our own. I mean there will be no casualties." At least she hoped not. They didn't have to worry about death unlike someone.

Oliver laughed a little. "Yes, i think the knife might have been a bit dangerous. Best to stick with the fork." She seemed like an interesting kid. But then again so did half of the school.. While the other half seemed entirely boring. "I'm a fifth year, what about you?" Friends of all ages were good.. though he usually didn't get on with younger students.

The fifth year roooooolled his eyes. Because who was even talking to this guy? He for sure was not. But apparently that didn't matter. "Great, very informative." He scowled, but just slightly. "What are you? Her Lawyer?"

Ha! ...Okay it wasn't really that funny. But really who jumps in like that?

And of course seeing Katy so excited made him feel bad for not talking to her.. for some reason. Ignoring her was probably stupid.. She was his best friend and he was missing her already..

So he sent her a wave, he wouldn't be all in her face (unlike the Baron) but you know.. He had to make sure she knew he wasn't gonna be mad forever or something.

"Hello everyone," Junia curtsied before taking up an empty seat. "Hello Bloody Baron, Sir." What was he saying about forks and cards? The fourth year raised her eyebrows slightly and followed his gaze, curious.

This particular Abey was right here, actually. He'd spent quite a bit of his train ride with Derf, having not seen him in literally ten million years actually, and then, once the train had arrived in Hogsmeade, Abey had lingered at the station for actually a very long time. He hadn't been able to find Junia OR Rula on account of he had left it too late to go looking on the train where it was EASY to find people.

But yes. Lingering at the station had happened, because Abey had been quite unwilling to head for the school, for reasons. OBVIOUS reasons. Ages he had stayed there, until the sudden lack of people had Abey even more anxious than the idea of going back to the castle. He had finally tagged along with an older student - a capable-seeming transfer boy who was really nice and had a lovely smile - in the carriages, pulled by those actually sort-of-scary-sort-of-not horses.

And heeeeeere he was. In the school. Hogwarts. The castle. Here... here where... things had happened.

Abey chewed on his lip, but kept reminding himself that he'd be okay as long as he stuck with other people, and especially his family. His cousin was HEAD GIRL, after all, which meant she would know what to do in an emergency actually. Also, there were a thousand adults at the feast, which meant it was the safest place to be. Uh... sort of.

Having entered the Great Hall, Abey bypassed the Gryffindor table as he had done with every feast so far, and headed for Slytherin instead. Finding Junia didn't take long, even though she was among a crowd of people. Spotting an empty seat beside her, Abey picked up the pace and hurried forward to nab that seat before anyone else could, linking his arm through hers as he did so.

"Hi," he said, to Junia and Junia alone, voice coming out even quieter than he had expected. It was... an overwhelming sort of moment. Back in the castle, lots of people (which actually was a good thing really actually; better than being alone in the castle, but still quite overwhelming when he was trying to process things like what he felt about being back), not-nice memories suddenly emerging a lot more vividly than they had been recently. And he was already thinking about how soon he would have to head up to the seventh floor (... and... past the fifth and sixth floors...) to sleep in a dormitory a million miles away from his family and his villain.

Deciding to keep his greetings directed only to his cousin, Abey rested his head on Junia's shoulder, and instead quietly watched the interactions between the Slytherins and their house ghost.

"Hello everyone," Junia curtsied before taking up an empty seat. "Hello Bloody Baron, Sir." What was he saying about forks and cards? The fourth year raised her eyebrows slightly and followed his gaze, curious.

Sheathing his sword in its scabbard the baron turned his eyes to the fourth year girl that had the good manners to address him in the right polite way. "Good evening Lady Junia! Did you have a pleasant summer vacation?" He could converse if he felt like it and the mood was right.

The Baron turned his attention to the fifth year boy that had also addressed him. Not as politely as Junia of course, but still. "Good evening young master Lupin! Are you perhaps related to the former Hogwarts professor Remus Lupin?"

The Baron had been in a good mood, but as the young girl probably a first year by his estimates opened her mouth to answer his questions the good mood quickly started to plunge. Letting out a huff he grumbled back impatiently."Yes, yes I am the Bloody Baron, I just introduced myself to the whole table, but apparently you have too much ear wax in your ears young lady for you to hear that." Or even register it.

"Playing with utensils is childish and not to mention unslytherin like. Good old fashioned socializing with your peers is what you're supposed to do at the feasts. Sporting your talents in multitasking is better done in lessons, here it just makes you look dumb." Baron finished off with a groan.

"Do not try and size me up young lady! I've played cards longer than you and even your ancestors." Groaning the Baron floated up from his seat and then across the table to glide straight through Zarina with his noisy chain scratching loudly against the floor for to make his points and to let out his irritation.

SPOILER!!: Declan

The Baron had just resettled above his chosen seat next to Katherine when one of the sixth year boy's decided to sort off come to the fork and card girl's aid. Wonderful. Another student that was going to ruin his good mood right?
Placing his pale grey eyes on the sixth year the Baron listened to his explanation and then groaned out as a thought came to him. "How absolutley splendid of you young man to point out a fault in the school curriculum! I shall immediately notify head of house Vance that you think that you have too much free time on your hands. I'm sure she can find you a suitable job helping the caretaker maybe refill the slug pit..with some nice slimy sluggies.."

"Time moves. It's a constant. How slow or quickly it moves doesn't matter to me much. I stopped caring about that many years ago." The Baron shrugged. Time had no meaning to him. And why should it really?

Turning his eyes to Katy beside him the Baron asked. "Are you ears hurting lady Katherine?" Since she was rubbing at them after all. It didn't cross his mind whatsoever that his earlier booming was the cause for it. It had been called for.

"Hi," he said, to Junia and Junia alone, voice coming out even quieter than he had expected. It was... an overwhelming sort of moment. Back in the castle, lots of people (which actually was a good thing really actually; better than being alone in the castle, but still quite overwhelming when he was trying to process things like what he felt about being back), not-nice memories suddenly emerging a lot more vividly than they had been recently,

The Baron had gone back to observing the table when a student sat down next to lady Junia that clearly didn't belong to the snake ranks. By the redness it was clear that it was a Gryffindor. Rattling his chains noisily to get the boy's attention the Baron meaningfully groaned out. "Young man, shouldn't you be finding your way over to your own table now? Headmistress Hawthorne will soon make her speech."

It didn't take long for Slytherin's resident ghost to notice Abey too. Actually Abey had been hoping that he would go unnoticed, but of course that wasn't likely to happen when he had this stupid red and gold tie on, and robes with the Gryffindor crest on them, both of which stuck out like a sore thumb amidst the green and silver. Rahhhhh... he wished the ghost would pay attention to someone else instead.

....... He wanted him to leave? Uh... well, uh........ no. Not going to do that. And Abey expressed as much with a shake of his head, and a tightened grip on Junia's arm, even though he knew the ghost actually lacked the physical substance to force him up and away from the table.

No, no, this is where he sat. He could hear the speech fine from right here.

And if they tried to make him leave, then he would cry, as Abeys tended to do.

Okay, apparently she drank way too much juice on the train because by the time they got to the castle, Natalie had to PEE. REALLY BAD. So she had hurried and put on her school robes and then RAN to the bathroom real quick. She, for one, did not want to miss the sorting ceremony. She wanted to watch it happen, since the only one she had experienced so far was her own.

Hurrying back down the length of the table, Natalie huffed out a breath and plopped her bum down next to her brother. "Did I miss anything?" she asked, tossing her brown wavy mop of hair over her shoulder.

Katy was interested in Tarot. Declan filed it to the back of his mind. It should prove to be a useful little tidbit. Of this he was certain. He just wasn't sure when he could best make use of it. In any case, that moment was not now, at least not while her finger was pointing in his direction.

Declan refused to look at it too long, aware that his eyes were getting crossed eyed in the process.

"You know my sister," he said as a matter of fact. There was no surprise in his tone. Her comment had made that obvious and really, there were very few he knew that did NOT know his sister or his brother. Declan figured they were the friendly ones. There was no further room for talk of Althea. The girls were back at their exchange and he minded his business; still the best option for him.

"Death?" he asked, this time his voice full of surprise. Declan's eyebrows had shot up. Why would she ask such a thing? He felt his skin grow cold and he thought his next answer over for, perhaps, a second too long. "I don't even know what that's supposed to mean." He laughed, hoping it sounded like a genuine one.

Death. Curious.

His fingers itched a spot on his chin before he reached over and flipped a card: an 8 of Clubs.

"HUH!" He exclaimed looking down at his card as he simultaneously high-fived Zarina. "I don't know about no casualties. It looks like we had the first one. My card? Or is it yours?" Maybe he had heard the rules wrong so he would wait for her to clarify.

Ha! ...Okay it wasn't really that funny. But really who jumps in like that?
Declan looked up from his card and only caught the last end of the eyeroll. His lips stretched into a smile before he could help it. "I think that requires at least a few years of further education. Right now, I'm her card partner."

Or even register it.

The Baron had just resettled above his chosen seat next to Katherine when one of the sixth year boy's decided to sort off come to the fork and card girl's aid. Wonderful. Another student that was going to ruin his good mood right?

lacing his pale grey eyes on the sixth year the Baron listened to his explanation and then groaned out as a thought came to him.

He raised an eyebrow at the Bloody Baron's bristly response. Declan had several options he could go with as a response. He could pull a Levi and use his tongue to speak sharply and efficiently lose some points or he could pull an Althea and use his tongue bluntly and just as efficiently lose some points before the term even formally began.

"Alright," Declan said choosing neither route. He turned his attention back to the deck of cards. "Just let me know what time and which day and I'll squeeze it into my busy schedule. NEWTS and all."

The Bloody Baron didn't really understand what he was trying to say about time. He was long winded and silvery. Perhaps it was an undead thing. He glanced towards who he thought the Bloody Baron was speaking to now. He was going to run off the kid? He looked up the ghost before glancing over at Katy and Zarina with raised eyebrows.

Zae smiled at this guy. He seemed to be a pretty chill dude (Oliver). Aahh so he was a fifth year, that was a good thing to know. I mean she can hang out with the older kids. "I am a second year. I know I might be a baby to your standards but I swear I am not that bad." She can be mature if she wants to. "Oh I am Zarina by the way.." she held out her hand for him to shake. "Or you know me as fork girl.." she smirked just a bit. "So you been in Slytherin house for five years huh? Anything I should know?" Just curious she was. Any tips or insider things she should know. Besides the common password obviously.

Big eyeroll to the Old Bloody Baron. Who did he think he was? Did he just insult her? Big mistake there baron. Big mistake. She couldn't just sit there and take it. "Well from your ghostly moaning and chains you got there it is hard to hear you." Nothing to do with earwax good sir. She snorted even more at his insult. Could he do any better? She rolled her eyes and said, "Well like I am SUPPOSED to I am socializing incase you can't see....I mean are you sure your eyes are working?" He might be floating mist for all she knew. She wasn't trying to size him up. On the contrary he can't grow anymore with being dead and all. "Nah I am just telling like it is. Wooahh tell it to someone that cares." She felt him float through her and she shivered. She even heard his chain scratch against the floor. "Really was that necessary? I mean trying to make your fellow slytherins ears bleed? Such a great house ghost you are." He was a real inspiration right there. She even heard the Baron ask someone to leave the table. She figured she might as well stick up for him. "Hey he is allowed to come here and socialize. Like you said, this is what the feast is all about." She patted Abbey on the back.

Zarina just like the death comment go. "Oh I am sorry I am thinking of another deck my grandma has. I know there is more than one..." I mean if Declan thought she was crazy than so be it. She saw Declan flip over an 8 of clubs. Huhhh he did win this round. "You take both cards now worthy opponent." She was in it for the game. She flipped her card and got an 9 of hearts. She hoped this card won. She had her fingers crossed. As the baron floated away she asked her fellow Slytherin, "What do you think of the Baron?" He obviously doesn't make lasting first impressions.

Games of chance weren't super interesting to Katy. She preferred games of skill. Or blowing things up. Or poisoning second years. Her eyes drifted to Zae's cup before she recalled how many people had been very upset with her lately over poisonings. Probably she could stand to play a game of chance, although she dragged Zae's glass closer to her. Just... getting it out of the way.

"You don't... call death. It isn't a parrot." Or so she thought. She'd look it up in the library later. "Anyway, I don't have a game in mind. This is perfect. I'll just watch for now." And count the cards.

It didn't bother her that Declan had shut her down about Althea. The fact was, Katy had now met the fourth of the Kenning siblings, and she found the fact that they were all so different completely fascinating. Yes, Katy and Bast and Leecey Toussaint were very different, but they were also obviously related. There was a common thread that ran through them. Katy wondered where the common thread was between Althea and Levi and Declan.

"Declan wins that one!" She slid the two cards to his side and tapped the table. "Again. Go. Go go."

She smiled broadly at Oliver, who was looking less sulky all of a sudden, before turning her attention to the Baron. He was still being a bit LOUD for her tastes, but at least her ear drums had stopped bleeding. "They're a bit sore, sir, but I'll heal fast. Thank you for your concern."

Duuuude. It was his fifth year, and there'd be OWLs and supposedly lots of studying. That wasn't really the greatest welcome back present ever, but he'd deal with it. He didn't exactly have a choice. At least he wasn't the new kid anymore. He actually had friends and knew his way around. That was pretty cool.

The table was packed, so he pretty much took one of the few available spots. Was there food yet? Brent looked at the table, saw nothing, rubbed his eyes, and then looked again. Nope. There was really no food. He spared a glance toward the staff table and noticed a ton of new staffers. Duuude. What happened? Did the monster pretty much run off the entire staff? Now he was back to not really knowing any of his professors.

Alright, Headmistress. You can give your speech now.

Zarina was...different. It wasn't something he could not handle; however. He had Althea as a sister. Declan thought he was well experienced in handling special personalities. Clearing his throat at Katy's urgency, Declan flipped his card over to reveal a 4 of Diamonds.

"Death does the calling," he remarked to Katy's witty observation. His eyes had caught some movement on the table that threatened to distract him but he ignored it. There was a lot of fidgeting at the table. Nothing was really significant at the moment. "It doesn't really care for not being answered. Takes what it wants, when it wants, how it wants."

He looked up to look from Katy to Zarina. "Too morbid?"

Oliver looked back at the Baron and nodded. "I am related to him." he wasn't sure if there was a ton of Lupins running around. "But you knew him." He wasn't sure how many students interacted with what Ghosts, other than Sir Nicholas he wasn't sure who Remus Lupin might have known Ghost-wise.

This time the Fifth year kept from rolling his eyes. Declan had a smart mouth.. only Oliver didn't find it particularly smart or clever, he just managed to say very obvious things in the right tone. "Right, well next time I would like you to answer a question I'll make sure it's addressed to you. Until then I think She can manage to speak for herself."

Looking back to Zarina as she spoke Oliver smiled. "Nah, not a baby. Just young." It was hard to think even of an Eleven year old as a baby, he wasn't that much older. But also he was.. Whatever. "I'm Oliver. Nice to meet you, Zarina. I think i'll stick to that instead of Fork girl." Cause it wasn't really a name. "Tips? Umm.. Not really? I mean Slytherins are pretty loyal, so if you're good to your housemates they'll usually be good to you.. With a few exceptions. Some Slytherins like to be rude on purpose which doesn't help stereotypes of us being bad guys." He couldn't stand those, really.

Ha! Who else melted a little when Katy smiled in his direction.. No one? Just him? Yeah.. That made sense.. Though it wouldn't have shocked him if anyone else happened to melt a little bit. He waited until She was done speaking with the Baron about his volume issues. "Hey, i'm sorry I kinda over reacted. I just don't like being left in the dark.. and i got worried about you." His expression softened as it often did when he looked at her.

Rula had ended up being one of the last students to make their way up to the carriages to get to the castle, having decided to stay back and help make sure all the students got off the train safely. Not that there was anything to worry about, but you never knew if one of the younger ones had a question or got lost or anything. Plus there was no need to rush to the feast. It was actually...kind of nice to put it off just a few extra minutes. It was finally hitting her that this would be her last start of term feast at Hogwarts, and though she was excited to graduate, she didn't want to rush through it either.

So she was feeling a little nostalgic already as she entered the Great Hall, smiling a little wistfully as she scanned the room for a few seconds before heading to the Slytherin table.

Thankfully everything seemed calm there. No one causing a lot of trouble so far. That was a good sign.

"Hello, everyone!" She said, smiling at all the familiar faces she passed. There were a couple new faces too, which was exciting. It looked like the Baron was already talking to one (Zarina) though, so Rula would welcome her in a little while. She passed the other new girl (Tejashree) then and said, "Hi! Welcome to Slytherin!"

She had to be sure they weren't little nose-pickers or whiners before she agreed to THAT title.

Head held high, she approached the table and was disappointed when she didn't see Ru or Abey. Abey who was her cousin and also who tended to sit with them during feasts, even if he WAS a Gryffindor. Hopefully they'd be along soon as it was sort of a tradition to face these days together.

"Hello everyone," Junia curtsied before taking up an empty seat. "Hello Bloody Baron, Sir." What was he saying about forks and cards? The fourth year raised her eyebrows slightly and followed his gaze, curious.

No, no, this is where he sat. He could hear the speech fine from right here.

And if they tried to make him leave, then he would cry, as Abeys tended to do.

And then she spotted Junia and Abey, and the Baron was talking to Abey now...and asking him to go to the Gryffindor table. Rula wasn't surprised to see Abey shake his head no considering...well, everything last year. It was probably hard enough already for him to be back here, and she wanted to help make his first night back as easy for him as possible.

"Sir, wouldn't it be okay for him to sit here for the speech?" she asked politely. "He won't cause any trouble, I promise."

The beginning of the term feast! Jonas was anxious and hungry at the same time. But more anxious more then he was hungry this year. That's because it was his fifth year. The year that he would take his OWL's. Was he nervous? Of course he was. He was very nervous. He bit his lip as he was trying to decipher his fifth grade text book. He knew he should be taking in the sites and sounds more then studying but, he just wanted to be ready. He hadn't slept a wink on the train so he knew he would crash tonight when he got to bed.

A girl next to him said hello to the ghost as well.. She looked familiar. "Junia, right? You were on the camping trip?" He asked and smiled in a friendly manner. "I'm Oliver." He thought they met but it was tough to remember people you met in passing sometimes.
"That's me." Junia said simply, observing the boy. She remembered him from the trip, and from school. Something about the hair in particular made him memorable and she smiled some before offering an, "I know." Because she did. He was Oliver Lupin. "Happy to be back?" Junia, for one, had mixed feelings.

"Hey." Her voice was just as soft as she greeted the Kenning boy. She knew who he was, had seen him around. He was interesting in a way that made her want to ask him many questions, but she refrained for now. Maybe she'd write them down and catch him in the common room sometime, instead. "It's Junia, by the way." Her name. In case he was wondering.

SPOILER!!: Baron, Abey, Rula stuff!

Rahhhhh... he wished the ghost would pay attention to someone else instead.

And then she spotted Junia and Abey, and the Baron was talking to Abey now...and asking him to go to the Gryffindor table. Rula wasn't surprised to see Abey shake his head no considering...well, everything last year. Being called Lady Junia made the fourth year feel QUITE happy and she smiled a little, trying not to let on just HOW pleased she was. "It was pleasant, yes. Lots of time spent with family and friends, so no complaints here." The brunette nodded and then watched as the Baron greeted the other students, wondering what it'd be like to be a ghost. She wondered if it'd be rude to ask.

...

Luckily Abey turned up to stop her from doing just that. Junia dropped a kiss on his head and smoothed his hair the way her mama always smoothed hers when she was feeling upset. It always put her at ease, and she knew that's what he needed right now. "Hey Abey. 'M glad you're here." With her where he belonged. She'd look after him and keep him sa-

Wait, what? He couldn't leave. Didn't the baron know WHO he was? Know WHAT had happened to him? The very least he could do was allow her cousin to sit here for a little longer.

"I promise, too." The fourth year chimed in after her older sister, wondering if Rula's Head Girl status would give their request any added weight. It had to be good for something, right? "We're supposed to look after him because that's what family does. You understand that don't you, Baron Sir?" Junia looked up at the ghost through her lashes and gave her best, most convincing cruppy eyes.

...

But then the speech came with an Abey still attached to her arm and while she caught some of what was said, her main focus was on ensuring her cousin wasn't taken away before he was ready.

Zae turned her attention to Katy after giving the Bloody Baron a dirty look. She eyed Katy who was moving her glass. She better not have poisoned it or anything. She would smell it later. Zae snorted at her comment. "Well you can with a spell I believe.." She read about it somewhere because like she said she was interested in the dark arts. Ah so she was an observer when it came to games. She was too so Zae shrugged and let Katy watch. "Heyy whose side you onn?" she teased Katy a little bit. Zae was a little sore loser when it came to these things.

Time for the game with Declan. He flipped over a 4 of diamonds? Zarina flipped over her cards and held her breath and got a 10 of clubs. SWEET! She won. Zae beamed and took her two cards. Succkkerr. "See I knew Death does the calling. I mean are death and reapers the same thing?" Look at her randomly blurt out questions. Zarina heard his comment and thought nothing of it. "Nah not too morbid. It is the truth though.." Nothing could be said, he said it perfectly.

Zarina turned her attention to Oliver and she knew she would be called young. There was nothing to it. "Nice to meet ya Oliver." She nodded her head towards him politely. Zarina snorted with that comment. "Yeah I get the loyal aspect and I haven't really met any rude Slytherins yet but I am pretty sure I will." She scanned around her table and wondered who. "I mean I can be guilty, I try not to be rude on purpose but sometimes people can be soo stupid you know what I mean?" Come on Oliver must have those moments. As she scanned the table a bit more, she noticed a girl with a badge. Oh another Prefect. See she was catching on. Oh wait a head girl. Interesting! Zarina gave her a polite wave. She was just doing her job. "Thanks.." she gave her a small smile. "I'm Zarina by the way." she held out her hand to the head girl.

Sweet now the headmistress was giving a speech. That means food must be upon them. Wait there was no extra circular activities? No sports? "BOOO!!" she called out. Wait a special event? Zarina tilted her head at this. An International Magical Pupil Standoff? Now this seems interesting. Once she heard only 15 years or older can be chosen, Zarina snorted and stopped listening. Least she could watch the events though. This sounded like the Triwizard Tournament that happened wayy back when. "Can you believe this?"she muttered to Katy. "Well Declan looks like you can enter the game.." Least she knew who she would be cheering for.
