Default IMPS Challenge #2 :: Dora Umbridge

Your teeth may or may not be chattering as you walk along a pathway that is covered in a layer of freshly fallen snow. The pathway soon comes to an end beside a large stone, a subtle warning that treading any further will mean putting oneself at risk. Standing before you, in all of her glory, is the Whomping Willow. Currently the tree remains still, icicles glistening from her branches. But something about them seems a little off...

What is your next move? Dare you take a closer look?

OOC: Post in this thread for your challenge to begin. You will have until June 20th @ 11:59 PM GMT to complete this challenge. Good luck!

The Gryffindor had cast a warming charm and insulation charm on herself before leaving out of the castle. It wasn't until she was a few feet away in the snow that she cast Henshu on her feet as well. No need in slipping in the snow and ice, you see. Still gripping her wand in her left hand she picked her way down the path to the whomping willow. It was familiar to her in the way that most of the grounds at Hogwarts were.

Kind of like home in a way.

Of course today held a bit of anxiety, seeing as she was a bit salty about IMPS as it was. She held out hope that nothing else was too shady, though.

Here's hoping.

Finally getting within the line of sight of the willow the blonde paused to take it all in. Such a beautiful wonder, really. But like... the icicles there. What exactly was up with them? They looked a little... fake? Maybe? Or there was just something a little odd about them. The Gryffindor did not, however, venture any closer just yet. Only a fool would get within branch shot of the willow on any given day. Hmph.

She did twirl her wand a bit nervously as she thought of what her next move should be. Hmmm. Well one thing stuck out... just to see how the willow itself would react...

"Avis, " was the spell she cast toward the tree. Let's see if a flock of yellow birdies made the tree move. Then, perhaps, she could see what the oddities were hanging off of the branches there. Let it move while she was a ways back? And just for good measure... "Fianto Duri, Armanto. " Magical and non magical protection? YES PLEASE!

Now what was next? Her eyes didn't waver from the tree as she waited to see how it reacted.

Time might have revealed the true nature of those icicles, but the birds fluttered towards the tree, unknowing of the peril they flew towards. With a whack, the Willow knocked one of the birds far into the depths of the Dark Forest’s treetops. The other birds quickly fled towards those same treetops, but the Willow took one more victim.

In the process, some of the icicles fell to the ground with loud shatters. The icicles weren’t icicles at all; in fact, they were frozen potions ingredients. Their contents were splashed around the broken vials, those that were liquids, anyway.

The Willow straightened up, biding its time as its branches swayed ominously. Under the tree, a ways ahead, is a round, black cauldron. In the cauldron is a note that reads,

"Well, this isn't a hat. Get on with it! Make your way to the passage beneath the tree.“

Not far from the cauldron is a work station. Without having the read the note, the message, at least, has to do with potions, surely?

OOC: It is up to you to decide what ingredients to collect and what potion to brew.

Dora took another cautious step back as the willow shot one of her birds off into oblivion. Poor birdie... But it had done its job well. As one of the vials fell off unharmed, Dora summoned it to herself and inspected the contents. Wormwood? How bizarre.

I mean yeah, she had seen the cauldron and the work station and all that... but this was kind of dumb. She had to brew a potion near a murderous tree? Who the heck was in charge of planning these challenges?! Maybe Derf and Emmeline were right... there were Dark Wizards in the school. And on the staff. CLEARLY. Sticking the wormwood into her pocket she watched the tree from safety and chewed her lip a bit. SO she had a few options right now...

Seeing as she had read history books and taken lessons on the Willow not only at school but with Spike as well, she knew that the knot needed to be pressed so that the tree would stay still. But there was also another way to get it done at first. Raising her left hand she cast a nonverbal Immobulous and waited a moment before she made a move. Seeing as the last challenge had confounded all logic... she had to make SURE that the spell she cast even work. Although she had used it a MILLION times before.

There was no way she was going to get smacked around by a tree today. NOT TODAY, WILLOW. NOT TODAY!

After the willow sent the birds on a nice long vacation, the Hogwartian was smart to step back. The willow got the strange pleasure of swing its branches and hitting things that come to close into its area. The branches swayed ready to send anything that came near on a long vacation. Hasta la vista!

What was the girl waiting on, Spring? The ingredient would still be there on branches even then. Branches swinging, snapping even more, quite impatiently. Almost as if a great freeze had frozen them solid. The tree then stopped moving. No snapping of branches, no movement, for the tree was completely immobilized. Now is the time to get your ingredients and start brewing your potion. No time to waste!

Okay so the tree was immobilized for sure. Then and only then did Dora make her move for the cauldron. Just as she had expected... brew a potion. Not that it gave her much to go on, but if she was thinking logically at this point, and she was, she had to assume that it was for personal consumption to continue in the challenge. Okay. Glancing back at the tree to make sure that it was indeed still, she ran a few ideas over in her mind even as she made her way to pick through the vials on the ground.

There was sure to be no Pepsi on hand... so the Dresden Draught was out of the question. Okay... she didn't need anymore stamina considering she was sixteen and pretty well full of energy.

First ingredient she found was scarab beetles. Two to be exact. YAS! Wit sharpening it was! Now which variation? She normally would have gone for Kazimeriz' version, but she knew the brew time was far too long for the current situation... and there was another version of it. Hmmm...

Ginger root she was lucky enough to find unbroken about the other vials as well. Moving on she glanced back up at the tree as she shoved the vial into her pocket so that she had her wand at the ready if need be. Okay... looking, looking... picking through the glass for what felt like an eternity she found her last ingredient THANKFULLY unbroken on the ground... Armadillo bile! This was all coming along nicely!

Dora grabbed up the cauldron after tucking the last of the ingredients into her already bulging pockets and made a run for the workstation. Carefully setting the cauldron up she then extracted all of the vials from her pockets, lining them up in the order in which she was to use them. This wasn't exactly a difficult potion for her to brew seeing as she was no stranger to (she downed a self brewed wit sharpening potion at the start of the first challenge) particular potion.

Okay the first was always to clean one's cauldron, so the blonde girl cast Scourgify not only on her cauldron, but also on all of the equipment assembled there. There was HONESTLY no telling what was in or on those things since they had been sitting out all willy nilly underneath a crazy old tree. Speaking of, Dora glanced at it once again and gave it the old stink eye. Seriously, who had thought this up?! Once she was happy with the state of cleanliness of her things she grabbed the measuring cup and cast Aguamenti. Filling it up to 500ml before dumping it into her cauldron carefully and immediately casting Incendio at the burner underneath said cauldron. Okay. Dragon hide gloves FIRST AND FOREMOST! No need to go and get herself messed up over something as miniscule as not being properly prepared... also goggles. Had the Potions Mistress lady set this all up? Everything she could have possibly needed was indeed there!

The girl had to bring the water to delicate simmer before moving forward, right? Or did she have time in this cold weather to go ahead and grind and cut the things that needed doing? She assumed she did as she went ahead with a pestle and mortar and dumped the two scarab beetles there and began to work on them, always glancing up at the cauldron to see if the water had begun to simmer. Which it had not because she had the heat down low. About the time she had them ground coarsely she noticed that the water had begun to gently bubble... not quite a simmer, yet. So with that being the case she set her ground scarabs aside and began to cut the ginger root... which she had JUST ABOUT completed when she noticed that the water was at the right stage for her to continue. SHEESH. Brewing under these conditions had really given the girl a case of the sweats. Not that she was going to risk wiping her brow while she was brewing... what her potion did NOT call for was saline. Heh.

Okay next step was to add the scarab beetles. Dora put the ginger root aside and scourgified her gloves JUST IN CASE before she proceeded in picking up the mortar and carefully shifted the beetles into her cauldron, careful not to let any get away, and also not adding them too quickly all the same. Using her freshly cleaned stirrer she placed it into the cauldron and slowly counted off the FIVE clockwise stirs.

1... 2... 3... 4... 5...

Upon completion she removed the stirrer, cleaned it and set it aside as she adjusted the flame of her burner just a little. Mentally noting that she had to let it simmer for five minutes she went back to work on the ginger root, carefully cutting it with a the knife she had used previously. The knife that had been cleaned prior to use and had not touched anything else, mind you. Having taken her time to finish that part she then carefully measured out five grams of the root and set it aside for use in a few minutes. About three to be exact. Now... a dropper to measure out the bile. Where was it?! Dora felt a bit of panic as she let her eyes scan the assembled equipment, sure she had seen one before... OH GOSH NO! The girl was nearly frantic as she began to scan the ground below the workstation... and sure enough there it was. Laying there in the snow. TAUNTING HER almost!

TWO minutes, she told herself as she snatched up the dropper and Scourgified both her glove and the dropper several times.

ONE MINUTE.

Okay... she was sure it was clean as she opened the vial of bile and placed the dropper in, but not measuring it out just yet. Sure it wasn't the norm to measure and cut as one went, but given the elements in which she was brewing... she felt like it might be the best option she had. Also, the willow wasn't moving was it?!

STINK EYE AT THE WILLOW, BRO!

Finally as the fifth minute passed the Gryffindor added the ginger quite gingerly (har har) and wrung out her hands as she watched it sink down into the mixture... knowing not to stir it just yet. Twenty minutes it had to simmer now. TWENTY MINUTES. Dora set about cleaning the utensils she had previously used and setting them back in the places she had found them just to pass the time as she watched the flame, making sure it never got too high or too low for that matter. Simmer.

How to pass the time? She cast another Immobulous at the tree just for safety reasons... two spells were better than one, yeah? And she knew it not to be one of those spells that counteracted itself if cast more than once. So there was little comfort in that. And as the girl bided her time she ran back over the steps of the potion brewing process and chewed at her lip nervously. What if she messed up? What if she was not good enough? WHAT IF SHE JUST MESSED EVERYTHING UP?!

No she wasn't going to do that. She was no schlump at brewing. Professor Newton even told her on many occassions that he was proud of her. Not to mention when Valon Kazimeriz came round to see Addy he had praised her once or twice. Literally probably only once or twice... but then again the man was crabby in his old age.

As she was sure twenty minutes had passed she picked up her stirrer and once again cleaned it, just for safety reasons... and began the stirring process. Seven times every three minutes as the potion cooled. This was the tricky part if you asked Dora... but no one had asked her. Or anyone else for that matter.

And so Dora began the process: Clockwise stirring 1...2...3...4...5...6...7. And wait 3 minutes. Mentally ticking off the minutes as she watched the timer she had on the workstation. How else had she been able to tell how the time had passed? Three minutes passed, counterclockwise stirring 1...2...3...4...5...6...7... and given the chilly temperature currently surrounding her work space... Dora removed her right glove and held her hand over the cauldron. Not much heat coming off of it, but the smell was HORRID. Likely just once more around. Clockwise this time 1...2...3...4...5...6...7

And yes, the cold weather had helped to cool the potion quickly, thank Merlin for that. Picking up the dropper she slowly added the nine drops of armadillo bile. One at a time... slowly... and not stirring. NERVE RACKING! Now Dora set the timer for 8 minutes and hoped for the best. The waiting was miserable!

A swirl of thoughts crossed over her mind as she waited for what felt like the WORST and LONGEST eight minutes of her life. And yes, the smell from the wit sharpening potion was putrid, but oddly it didn't bother her right now. She was preoccupied with glancing at the tree and wondering what the other competitors were doing. What potions had they chosen? How did their brewing process go? Was anyone brewing the same one as her? Could they SMELL the desperation she was wafting from way over there? It was excrutiating... but as the timer went off the Gryffindor snapped back to reality and grabbed up her gloves and a shoved them back on. Then the ladle... SCOURGIFY!

And then without hesitation she added the potion to a nearby clean vial and immediately downed the contents. WRETCHED! GHASTLY! HORRIBLE!

With a shiver she started to clear away the remaining potion, clean off the utensils, and fold her gloves back neatly. Not yet feeling the effects of the potion she moved a ways back and watched the branches of the tree... unclear on what her next move was supposed to be. Not that anything about the challenge so far had been too clear.

Ugh.

Now that your potion is done, you should remember what the second part of your note said. “Make your way to the passage beneath the tree.” There should be a hole near the roots of the now calm tree that leads to the passageway.

A human-sized hole, too, funnily enough. Leave your station behind, don’t worry. It will be cleared for you.

Also, nice with all that extra cleanliness. You might need in a bit.

As the potion began to take hold... she did indeed remember the last bit of her note. She had forgotten all about the last of it, but as she pulled it from her pocket and read it over she felt her cheeks flush a bit. Ugh. She was losing time by being careless! Wouldn't be the first time and likely not the last in her life that she did something dumb.

Ha!

Tucking the note back away, the blonde tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and jogged toward the tree, immediately spotting the passage she was to go through. The human sized passage... handy, that. With one last glimpse at the tree she blew out a puff of breath and ducked her head a bit to peer inside.

Hmmm...

Maybe a few precautions before she went in? A quick, yet tried and true, Supersensory Charm , followed by an Impiriano Shield. Not knowing what she was walking into those two seemed the best bet for now, she'd get a better idea of what to do once she got further inside. She was sure there would be no Dementors this time, but who knew what the mad witches and wizards running this thing we're putting in their paths.

She spared a quick thought for her fellow competitors... and hoped everyone was being safe. Or in some cases she wished they were failing miserably... but hey...

Back to the task at hand!

What lay ahead? Her heightened sense of sight and sound led her easily down without a Lumos spell. But much further in and she might just rethink that.

The wit sharpening potion effect on the girl was working for the girl. Now that the Hogwartian knew what she had to do. She got right to it in haste. That was good time was ticking away.

Tick tock! Tick tock!

The girl was prepared wasn’t she? With the the supersensory charm and the shield. Perhaps she thought she was heading into some sort of battle. Only time would tell, if she was prepping for what was to come or if the potion had made her overthink this preparations.

One without the supersensory charm would certainly need to use the lumos charm. Maybe she should go on and use it too. Follow straight on and you will end up where you are suppose to be. There is a door at the end of the passageway.

Dora moved along with the supersensory charm in place, her vision sharp even though it was dark. And constant vigilance was a thing for a reason.. so yeah to the shield as well.

As she moved further along and realized there wasn't a troll or some other horrid thing in her path she cast a silent Lumos and surveyEd the door as she came to it. It looked simple enough, sure, but was it? Her uncle had taught her to be mindful of all things around just her as her father had taught her to be suspicious.

Wavering for a moment the blonde then reached out and pushed the door open, but didn't walk through just yet. For all the ways she was a Gryffindor she had a brain too. So yeah... what next?

Her thoughts crept to all of the horrible things she could face... but paused as her potion seemed to bring her back to reality.

The blonde strengthened her shield and braced herself before putting even one foot into the doorway.

The girl was moving swiftly through the passage. It really was just her and the empty passageway. How long was the passage? Who knew.

Your wand light shone on the dirt walls of the passage. The young girl really took constant vigilance seriously, always appearing to be on her game and ready for anything. Or maybe wasn’t as up with the constant vigilance as she appeared. Maybe she should check the door before passing through. It might explain what you have to do next.

Remember: things are not always as they seem,
And with odd trinkets this shack does teem.
In the time remaining, you must find your way
And locate two items that have gone astray;

One is held dear to our pigletted friends.
It can’t build a home, but a house it does amend
To every boy and girl cherished at the castle,
But you won’t find it without much hassle.

You’re looking for a lever that unlocks a door,
But to find the item you might need a particular score.
Try them all, and you will see. Something is off.
Dust covers this place like an infernal cough.

Now, our next item is from across the seas.
It can attach and reattach as you please.
It doesn’t write; it surely isn’t a quill,
And it’s small in size as well as beautiful.

Twist clockwise and nothing you’ll get,
But counter that, and you might regret
The noxious gas that fills your space
If you turn it too quickly, wood it would deface.

Good luck, champions. Find them both here.
Look with your eyes, hear with your ears.
Search up and down, and then high and low,
But don’t be too hasty or too slow.

How will you proceed?

OOC: Here is a floor plan provided OOC to make it easier to RP your character exploring the shack. Feel free to be as creative as possible

When Dora pushed the door she had not seen the scroll there, but jumped back when it clattered to the ground, wand trained on it, light illuminating it. Calm down, girl. It was just a SCROLL. Not a TROLL. Although sometimes she felt like the creators of the challenges were definitely trolling her. Har har.

Frowning slightly, the blonde girl bent to pick the scroll up before moving just inside the shack. Okay, so maybe there wasn't going to be some big magical showdown with this challenge, but that didn't mean that she was going to put her wand away. Eyes scanning the area she moved inside the first room, that was clearly the dining area? OH FOR THE LOVE OF MERLIN WHAT WAS THAT SMELL?! Dora gagged for a moment before flicking her wand, thus extinguishing the light, cast Finite on herself to lift the supersensory charm, and then cast a bubble head charm right after. For the love of all things Merlin her eyes were still watering from that funk. After a moment of getting her bearings about herself the blonde cast Lumos again and moved away from the dining area and toward the sofa and such. She needed a table to lay the scroll out on.

Once she had it out and was able to read the entirety of the riddle, she began to reread it immediately afterward. Clues. Key words. Anything that would be helpful. Some things had already jumped out at her, but she needed to be sure. And she was going to need to formulate a plan of attack, so to speak. Focus on one item at a time, for sure.

And one of the clues at the end jumped right out at her. She needed to go upstairs first. High then low. So she surmised that the first item was located upstairs. Rolling up the scroll she tucked it under her arm and made her way to the stairs... hoping they were safe and would hold her weight. NOT THAT SHE WAS HEAVY. Hmph. Moving along with less trepidation she let her eyes sweep the area as she approached said stairs, noticing not only the thick layer of dust on everything, but also the odds and ends laying about. Discarded parchment caught her attention, but she kept moving along. A broken mirror here, a broken sneakoscope there. She would have to come back here once the challenge was over and really give the place a once over. Or twice over for that matter.

But back to the matter at hand.

Putting one foot on the bottom step she moved to place her weight on it and bounced a bit. Safe enough. Safe as it was gonna be. Besides, it wasn't Hogwarts with the disappearing steps and such, right? Paranoia was NOT going to keep her from moving on. Besides, she had a wand and a BASIC knowledge of injuries and healing and such. So what could it hurt? Now picking up her pace, she began to take the steps two at a time, quickly getting to the top and entering the little foyer type area facing a set of doors. Okay. Nothing sinister here... unless you counted the random array of bugs moving about when her light illuminated the area. ACK! Even for a girl with a tarantula as a pet, she didn't dig that type of bug. The creepy crawly, dirty kind.

Keys, score, piano. That was what she kept repeating in her head. Over and over as she moved through the doors and sure enough... there was a decrepit old thing that was once a piano. A whole piano anyway. Now it was dirty and gross and looked a bit worse for wear. Eyes sweeping the area she moved over to the instrument and ran her finger over a key experimentally.

Now was anything going to happen?!

Not really waiting for it, Dora looked around for a light of some sort... Other than her wand, seeing as she was going to need both hands for this. Sighing to herself she flicked her wand, pulled her hand back, and flicked again as she spoke, "Lumos Maxima." The girl threw the light up above her and set the scroll on the pianos bench. LAMP! She loved lamps. Especially old ones like those littering the shack. Even if they were dirty and gross. Moving quickly she made her way to the two she saw and clicked them on before moving back to the piano and her scroll.

Reading over it again she frowned once more. The girl literally knew how to play ONE song on the piano... and she wasn't very good at that. But it didn't seem, by what she was reading, that she had to literally play a SONG, just hit some of the keys? She hoped so anyway...

Tucking her wand up her sleeve into its holster (WHICH SHE WAS NOT HAPPY ABOUT DOING BTW) she cracked her knuckles nervously before moving in front of the broken down old piano bench and letting her fingers lay out on the keys... the ones that were there anyway. And then... she hit a few random ones and waited.

DID IT WORK?

DID SHE WIN?

Miss Umbridge seem to know what she was doing, even referring back to her scroll for the clues. The Hogwartian was a force to be reckoned with. Up the stairs she went, she was on a mission and knew exactly where she was going. Or at least a inkling. But this girl must have been on fire, not literally, But she as hot burning hot as she approached the piano.

Dong…

Well the piano could use a tune up. It was old and had been just been sitting there for years with one playing it. Try it again. Just few more keys maybe you will see.

Bing, ding, Clink, ckank.

There you are it was tune or a song but hitting the keys it didn’t sound right did it? Like something off key. You hit what’s left of the Ivory keys. Something didn’t sound right

So much nope. All of the N O P E.

So much was wrong with the piano and the keys that she hit. But like nothing amazing had happened when she hit all of them so she figured the best course of action was to try again, one by one. UGH.

SO she started from A to G... then again. And then her finger hit a random key that kind of PLUNKED. That was her aha moment. She hit it a few more times before she moved to lift the top of the piano and hit the key again. Just so she could be sure which string to follow. This was nerve racking... She had an inkling as to what she was looking for... a stick that witches and wizards cherish. I mean... it was a wand, right?

But a wand in a piano?

Dora leaned her head under the top of the rickety old thing and began following the string for some sort of clue. ANY CLUE WOULD HELP REALLY.

You lift up the top of the piano, and look inside, investigating the strings. You are looking for what is causing the piano to plunk, yes, very good, Gryffindor. Following the strings you find not a wand or stick, but a very specific article of clothing. Do you remember you wore it your first year? The item that sent you to Gryffindor! A house it does amend!

It’s the Sorting Hat. It’s the item you seek! You found it, congratulations! Now off you go to to find the next. You are almost done, at last.

Where to next, girl?

A rat squeaks as it crosses in front of you. Don't mind him. He's just trying to survive, much like you.

Oooh. Dora noticed the HAT pretty quickly... seeing as it was the sorting hat. In a piano and all. So her guess of the item was incorrect, but her following of the clues was spot on. YAS! The blonde gently lifted the hat and smiled as she tucked it under her arm and turned around for the scroll...

Oh. A rat. Dora wrinkled her nose a bit, but didn't exactly start or anything. Her best friend had one as a pet, after all. Granted, hers wasn't as scraggly and gross as that one, but clearly it wasn't going to bother her if she didn't bother it. Besides, it might be a lost pet... "I'd give you some food if I had any," she muttered before leaning back over the scroll. She was pretty certain she knew where to head to next.

Grabbing up the scroll the blonde girl quickly set off back toward the stairs, giving Ratters, that was what she was calling it in her head, a wide berth as she went. Taking the stairs two at a time again she quickly made her way to the bottom and back into the stinky area. Aka the bottom floor. Ugh. Moving to turn on a lamp she let her eyes adjust as she moved to her left toward the kitchen area she had already spotted when she had moved around earlier. Replaying the riddle in her mind she made her way to the stove and frowned. Noxious gas and wood had tipped her off on that one. Counterclockwise would turn on the gas, but clockwise got nothing.

And fire burned wood.

Now what? Was she supposed to turn the knob? Leaning closer she inspected the knob for a few moments, kind of waiting to see if anything caught her attention straight away.

follow me; everything is all right.

You're are really getting there! You're almost done. Keep it up and you will find what you seek. There, you are very close now. You might need to look around a little more? Or mess with the knobs? If inspected the knob closer, is that something jamming a knob? One of them looks shinier and glossier than the others, like it’s been newly painted. It won’t turn as easily. Maybe it is jammed. But it’s also loose, so that is weird. Give it a turn. Play with it. Will it come off? Let’s just say, if you were to pull at it for a bit, it would come off. It is slightly loose, after all.

That might be a place to start. But you hurry time is running out. The item you seek is so near now. Soon it will be over and out of this dusty old shack you will be.

As the blonde girl inspected things she noticed one knob was looking like... new in the dirty old shack. Well that was definitely something. Looking around, Dora sought a place to set her things down so she was free to tinker with things a bit more easily. The filthy counter top would have to do. Sorry, sorting hat! Although she wasn't convinced it was the ACTUAL hat, so that was something.

Once her hands were free she reached over and poked at the knob a few times, not exactly wanting to turn it just yet. It seemed to be loose, so she did indeed twist it hard to the left, in the hopes that it would pop off in her hand or something. It was clear now that the object that she sought was behind the knob... or so she thought anyway.

This was nerve racking. If she wasn't afraid of igniting gas she'd blow the damn thing up in the moment. Or burn the whole shack down... and that was a thought for her grand finale. Heh.

But for now she just needed the stupid knob to come off!

Wiggle, wiggle!

Jiggling it looser, you manage to get the knob off the stove! Well done! Now time to examine what you have. If you peek inside the hole that now gapes at you where the knob once was, you will see absolutely nothing. There is nothing in there. Empty. Zilch.

Take a closer look at the knob, though. It no longer looks like a knob...it looks like...some sort of brooch...from across the seas….

Hmmm.

Congratulations. You have your second item. What is it?

Once the "knob" popped off, Dora held it closer to her face... no she didn't peer into the hole first. Who would do that?

But when she held it closer and squinted in the dim lighting of the shack she saw that THIS was what she had been looking for all along. The pin the Ilvermorny chumps wore on their robes. Sure she had looked at it while it was still attached to the stove, but it wasn't until she saw the pin part of the back that she was sure.

Sorting hat and Ilvermorny pin. SNORT! They certainly wanted the two schools to like hold hands and sing songs, didn't they? Well... she had no desire to make nice with those hateful people. Except maybe Aurora. She was alright. And maybe some of them intrigued her, but mostly they were horrible and taking up space at her school and generally being pests. BLEGH.

But back to the matter at hand.

Tucking the pin into her pocket she moved to the counter top and scooped up the scroll and hat before making her way back toward the trap door. Casting one last glance around she lifted her bubble head charm and smiled. She had done it. Now she only had to make her way back under the willow. Blegh.

You have the brooch. You have the Sorting Hat. No kumbaya necessary, Hogwartian, for you have just finished the second challenge of the IMPS competition. Congratulations; it was a lot of hard word and brain power for this one.

Now, there is no need to make your way back to the Willow for as soon as both items are in your grasp, you feel a sudden jolt, and your eyes open. What….is happening exactly? You’re on a bed, and a comfortable one at that, surrounded by bright light in a very white room. You have just woken up from a magically modified daydream. An employee from the Department of Mysteries briefly welcomes you before telling you that you can now make your way to the stands now. The room is located near the Viewing Area. If you feel dizzy or sickly, do not hesitate to seek medical attention from Healer Reed.

Your scores will soon be available once those still in the competition are done.

OOC: You may now look at the viewing area and/or other competitors' threads.

Dora sat bolt upright when she opened her eyes, blinking around a bit. The potion was wearing off, but she still felt a bit groggy as she listened to the Ministry worker speaking.

Right. The stands. Like she gave a flying flop about that right now.

But after a few moments she kicked her legs over the side and gritted her teeth before stomping out. She needed to see the Healer immediately. She didn't TRUST the Ministry people to tell her the truth.
