The door to a mysterious door on the fifth floor swings open to reveal a dank and dusty room which has clearly been vacant for years. White sheets cover the furniture, cobwebs fill every nook, cranny, corner, and everything in between, including a cup filled with wooden potion stirrers. The heavy scent of mildew permeates every aspect of the room. For some reason, all you can do is stand and stare inside.
Though the door swung open easily, a strange barrier once again prohibits the living from entering this room. The barrier was put in place by Marcella Riddle the term after her unfortunate demise and protected the peace and quiet of the ghosts still residing at Hogwarts. The room has on off since laid quietly in the years since the young Hogwarts ghosts reattained their bodies.

Noelle had gone over all the information she had learned from the library with Nat. She figured the Head Girl would be a good teammate in her search to stop the portal. She'd figured right. Nat, though sad, had seemed more than willing to help. And, in all honesty, Noelle was hoping to distract her from recent events that had happened with her.
She was perched near the spirits room. Nat was to meet her hear. From what she read, she knew others would be going to look for the poltergeists... but her attention was more so on the ghosts. She figured they would be willing to give out more information than Peeves and Miffy.
Now all she needed was Nat.

She was coming, she might have been running a bit late. She had to take a few deep breaths before walking out in the corridor. Now that she was walking towards the spirit room she tried to remember everything that Noelle had told her. She was really glad she didn't want to go talk to Miffy, Peeves, or even Storm. She couldn't handle any of them. She hadn't been in any state to deal with their annoyances.
"Hey Noelle." She looked around never being around here. "So do you know if any of the ghost are even here?" Did they just call for them and they come or were they just hanging out somewhere they wouldn't hear? She looked around, "Who do you think the best is to talk to?" She would the the Baron would be since he was her house ghost, but the Puffer ghost might be the nicest one.

Noelle sniffed the air, mildew smelling. It was coming from the spirit room. She saw the door was wide open but she hadn't ventured too near it yet. She was waiting on Nat first. She played with a piece of thread that was hanging loose from her vest. She was dressed in her school robes because class was due to start in an hour. She'd leave here and go directly to class.
Hearing a voice, she smiled and let that loose thread go. "Hey Nat." She said before Nat was asking her questions. "I've actually never been here before." She knew the ghosts hung out here. And she knew from reading Hogwarts, A History, that no living creature could go through the door. "Im guessing we just knock?" That would be a start right?
"Well, I was hoping we'd just see which ghost was present first. And then just ask around about the energy levels and if they know anything about the portals and such." She didn't have an elaborate plan... but now that they were here, she cursed herself on not at least making a list of questions.

"I haven't either." She kind of avoided the ghost. Not that she didn't like them, but she didn't really want to bother them either. So she stood there feeling a bit uncomfortable with all of it. What if they were bugging them for no reason, what if they really didn't know anything. She really should be studying for NEWTs right now and shew as scheduled for Portal duty soon.
"Alright I guess we should knock then." If that was what they were supposed to do or could they just walk in? No, it would be rude to walk in, they needed to just knock and be polite. "What is it we are asking them again?" Her mind was not really focusing on things as of lately, so she knew it was about the portal and things, but specifics she wasn't sure.
Oh yes energy levels, "Well in my opinion if we got rid of that idiot poltergeist and his little group their energy would probably be back to normal." She was never quiet about her dislike for the three of those annoyances.

Noelle nodded to Nat as she headed for the door. " We need to ask about the energy If they think its from the poltergeists or if its something else entirely." And if that didnt work, at least they would find out something.
Nat really didnt like Peeves or Miffy. Noelle could sorta remember Nat getting into it with Peeves last year. Or was that just a rumor? Who knew. What she did know was they needed to go ahead and get this done with. One, she had classes to get to. And two, as fascinating as the ghosts were... she really would rather hang out with the living.
Pulling her parchment out, she nodded again at Nat. " Ready when you are."

Myrtle had been mooaaaaaaaaaaning all morning, unable to leave her U-Bin because everything felt so OOOFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!! And when she had finally ventured out, because she was TIRED OF BEING COOOOOOOPED UP she had come here to speak with other ghosts and of coouurseeee she hadn't seen ANY.
"Oh MISERRRRRRRRRRY!" She wailed, coming to stop beside the girls. "Wh-what do you W-W-WANT?!" she cried. "Come POKING and PRODDING us about ENERGIES!?" she had HEARD THEM! "How RUUUUUDEEEE it is to be hanging out here...can't you leave us NONLIVING IN PEACE?!"
"OoooOOOOHhOOOHHHhhhHhOOOOOOooohhhhhh!" She moaned, resting the back of her hand on her forehead MISERABLY.

She nodded as Noelle talked about the energy. "Could they really be what is causing this?" Even if she hated Peeves and company she didn't think they could set a portal off in the school, not that it would surprise her if they did. Maybe their biggest prank gone wrong type of thing. Either way if it could prove they were responsible maybe then the staff would finally eliminate those three for good.

Nat jumped as she heard the familiar cries of a certain ghost. She didn't let her face go into any weird looks though. She knew how Myrtle could be so it was best to keep calm and happy around the girl. "Oh hello Myrtle, you are looking quite lovely today." Complements couldn't hurt, could they? If anything Myrtle was still a girl and what girl didn't like them.
"We don't mean to bother you and believe me we won't keep you long. We know you've had to hear about those poor boys that had gotten pulled into a portal for five full days. Well we were wondering.." She looked at Noelle to jump in about what she was thinking of asking since she was the one that had the idea in the first place.

Noelle about jumped out of her skin when Moaning Myrtle sprang to life at them... probably a poor choice of words there. She blinked a few times because she'd never actually talked to this ghost before. She definitely fit her nickname.
Oh, good tactic Nat. Noelle had wanted to make a smart comment but Nat diffused that comment right away. They needed the ghost to like them and give them answers. Smart Nat. Oh.... and now Nat was looking at her.
Noelle figured that was her queue. She looked up at the ghost with the sweetest smile she could muster. "Yes, we are terribly sorry for intruding. We were just wondering if you happened to feel any energy shifts lately and what you thought about them? " She offered Moaning Myrtle a compliment next. "We know you are awfully busy but we think they have something to do with those boys being sucked into that portal. We would hate for anyone to die." Was that sugary sweet enough?

Noelle almost put her hands on her hips because REALLY? Students were asking help from the previous and current occupants from the school. And she had the nerve to be offended??

"Ms. Myrtle... please listen to us.." Noelle started before Moaning myrtle shot through her body.

That was the worst feeling ever. Noelle shuddered from the cold and literally had to cross her arms to try and keep warm. "[b]Well bugger![/]" Noelle stammered. "That did nothing."

'You alright?" she hadn't been part of the ghost through you so she really didn't know how bad it really felt, but she could only imagine. Why couldn't they just make sure they watched where they were going? Though she was very sure that one liked to go through people.

The seventh year figured maybe she could get some studing in since this was a bust. "No not really. They just kind of show up here and there. I don't know if there really is anywhere one place they hangout." Other than this room and it seemed they weren't coming here right now.
She started walking away as the prefect spoke. "It seems like all I do all the time. " She had survived all her life so far, she survived living with her mother, she survived her trials here, she survived this stupid portal thing so far. She was a survivor. "Let's just go get a snack from the kitchen." Comfort food sounded good right now.
