| | |  The Doors
The Great Hall is flanked by two large thick wooden doors that often make a loud BANG! sound when flung open by dramatic students and/or staff. There are large, beautiful glass windows at the end of the Hall above the staff dais, the usual enchanted ceiling over everyone as well as scented candles that magically never drip hot wax on anyone, and the four regular house tables lined up neatly in the middle.
The choice is yours: enter the Great Hall as quietly as you can or make an entrance. If you are here to report that there is a troll in the dungeon, please have the courtesy to not pass out in the middle of the hall. There are no guarantees that you won't be stepped on. | |

Zoryn appreciated these heavy, wooden doors. Mostly because she appreciated all dramatics that allowed her to make wild entrances. It was probably a Gryffindor thing. Or... Maybe it was just a Zoryn Spinnet thing.
But she ALWAYS took advantage of the BANG! sound she could make by throwing the doors open and today was absolutely no exception.
She was HERE TO DINE. And now the WHOLE WORLD would know!!!
Man, she was gonna make the BEST actress-singer-reporter-astronaut in space EVER.

Man, she was gonna make the BEST actress-singer-reporter-astronaut in space EVER. Just in front of her, Skylar heard it before she opened the great hall doors herself. And how could she NOT hear the bang; she was pretty sure she'd have heard the slam if she'd still been down in the Slytherin Common Room. Just as she'd heard the slam of the door, she was nearly positive she knew who it was too and opening the door to see the first year standing there, like she was waiting for a royal red carpet throw down, Skylar just HAD to roll her eyes.
Could she just run her over? Except KNOWING who she was dealing with, the girl would probably cry wolf and tattle and blame her for all the things. Despite the fact that it was SHE who was blocking up traffic.
Despite her worst intentions, Sky just bit her tongue and politely as could be, "Are you going to just stand there all day? Because there are people who would like to sit down and eat." And like, blocking traffic into the great hall was NOT cool.

Just like clockwork, Henry was up bright and early to get in his morning run and shower before breakfast and class. Sure, it was more difficult to leave his warm bed to go out into the cold in the Winter, but he was usually fine once he got started and the promise of a long, hot shower afterwards always helped. Plus, today was his birthday! He could hardly stay in bed when he had the whole day to look forward to.
Sixteen somehow felt like an important number, or at least it was more of a mature number. And it was only a year away from being Of Age. He definitely felt more grown than he was this time last year. Or thought so at least. But for now, he was mostly interested in breakfast and maybe seeing if the elves would make him a special birthday meal, so he ran up the stairs from the Hufflepuff common room, slowing to a walk as he headed towards the doors of the Great Hall.

Until it happened. Maybe he shouldn't have been surprised as his friend Remy jumped on his back on his birthday last year. So maybe this would be his birthday trend. But that had been under the guise of an "extra workout" and giving a piggyback ride to a pretty girl was a much better treat.
Though he had been initially startled at having a person suddenly clinging to his back, he chuckled a bit as he turned his head to see just who it was. "Hey... Charlotte," he grinned. Of course, he knew that voice, singing or not. But the song made him grin wider. "Serenaded on my birthday... what a nice surprise." And it was already shaping up to be a good day.

"An even better surprise?" Henry did like surprises, provided they were good surprises of course. And knowing Char, he was sure it would be a good one. In fact, in a box made it sound like a present and the sixteen year old liked presents a lot. How exciting!
"To the Hufflepuff table then!" Henry grabbed onto her legs to make sure he had a secure hold on her before he took her anywhere. "Hold on tight!" His birthday or not, he was happy to give her a piggyback ride and he carried her in through the doors of the Great Hall, heading straight for the Hufflepuff table and eager to see what his surprise was.
