Welcome to your first duel!
This is a key stepping stone into determining your placement in the Tournament so please take this seriously. A list of spells to use can be found HERE while the cost of physical actions can be found below.
Please note that these actions take away from the Fatigue Points section. Also note that these are only taken into account if you're attacking or avoiding a spell. If you're simply moving around the hall, these points don't need to be considered.

Professor Hirsch will be present to oversee the duels and will only interfere if the duel ends or any foul play or unsportsmanship-like behaviour is displayed.

OOC: This duel must be completed by the 28th of February by 11:59pm GMT. You're required to make a minimum of 3 posts each in that time.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate in contacting me about them or posting them in the Dueling Club Rules thread. If you don't think you can post during that time or you don't think you can start/finish your duel, please let me know as soon as possible and we'll try and work something out.
Remember to keep a track of your points both in the title of your post (before any spells have been cast) and at the end of the post (after your charrie has cast a spell). Please refer to this post if you're confused as to how this works or, simply, come to me. Include as much information as you can about the spell in the spoiler section at the bottom of your post, including the directionality of the spell.
Also remember to be as realistic as possible with your charrie's age and ability.
First person mentioned in the thread title is the first person to start off the duel.

First duel! Hopefully this was going to go a little better than last year when she hardly got to duel at all. She was looking forward to getting some more duelling under her belt. She'd had her brother and sister teach her the ideas of new spells over the summer, so hopefully she would get on okay this year! She just needed to practice actually doing the spells before she tried to use it at the duelling club.
Her first duel was with Kat. That was interesting. She was one of her best friends, but she wasn't going to let that make her go less hard. She was determined to win this duel. "I love you... but I'm gonna win" She teased, grinning at her friend before she got ready to duel.
Almost instantly after she had bowed, she moved her wand and sent the Ears to kumquats at Kat, and then followed it up with a Expelliarmus. That would do for now.

So Hirsch had done it again. He had paired her up with yet another one of her best friends. She was dueling against HATTIE. Of all people, Hattie's family was like MLE royalty. Hattie's older sister and brother were both Yeti's. Which to Katerina made them royalty, meaning Hattie had it in her blood and she would have to beat her. If she could beat her then maybe in a few years she could be working with Grace and Frankie.
She hoped that Hattie had no plans to take it easy on her, she need to know if she was good. All in all though Kat was looking forward to dueling her though. 'If that's what you thank, Hattie." She smiled and laughed slightly. Then bowed to her.
Whoa. Hattie wasn't going to mess around, Kat barely had time to cast a protection spell up. Quckly she casted the first thing that came to her head. "Protego Fianto duri." There is was safe at least for now. "Levicorpus.' Phew thanks Hattie, Kat knew that both of them bought their A game today. She really need more of a plan now.

Hattie was determined to do good. Her older siblings were both YATI's, so she guessed that she kind of had it in her blood. So she had to do good. Otherwise it might not look good. Though she didn't want to be a auror herself, so it didn't really matter. But she wanted to get better, and be a good dueller, so she wanted to win.
That meant she needed to do good, and not get distracted by the fact that she was duelling her friend. She could do that. She had started by hitting out fast. She was just pretending it was any other duel, and the spells they were using couldn't really hurt anyone so it was okay. She didn't know what Kat would do back, so she just cast a "Protego!" hoping that it would block the spell whilst she thought of what to do next.
Hattie ducked, trying to miss the next spell that Kat had cast, before she cast the sardine hex in Kat's direction. That would do. Go Hattie.

It was really a good thing that professor Hirsch had done a lesson on Fianto Duri a few weeks ago. She didn't realize how much it would help her out in a duel this duel. She had been studying up for the duel, and training for her duels this term. She was as prepared for duels and DADA this term.
Kat watched as Hattie ducked out if the way of her spell and sent a sardine hex her way. Lucky for her the Fianto duri could take one more hit before she would have to recast or use a spell to defend herself. Watching Hattie's hex hit her shield and then disappear. Raising her wand she send Hattie a Cornflake skin spell.
Just to make sure she had to keep her friend on her toes, she sent another spell toward her. "Ebubio." If she could trap her in the bubble surely this duel would be over. Kat thought it would be kind of fun to trap her best friend in a bubble. She prepared to defend herself for whatever was thrown back at her. If Hattie was able to that is.

This was going quite well. Though she wasn't sure how well her spells were getting on. Kat was older than her, and so knew more spells. But that didn't matter. She just needed to hit her with one good spell, and then maybe the duel would be over. Though she didn't want it to be over too fast though, she wanted to enjoy it.
Taking a leaf out of Kat's book, she decided to try and use the spell that they had used in DADA a few weeks ago. It looked like a good spell. "Protego Fianto duri." She murmured, concentrating hard to get the spell to work. If it worked, she would be able to be safe for a few spells that Kat used, so that worked out well.
and now she needed to do a spell against her friend. Thinking, she then cast Melofors at her friend.

Katerina couldn't help but to form a grin as she watched Hattie take a leaf from her own book. She was very proud of her for that. But hopefully Kat would still come out the winner. Sorry Hats. Sugar quills and best friend cuddles in the common room later? Good make up treats.
At the ready to defend her self against the next spell that Hattie was bring out to her. She didn't have time to cast protego or any other spell for that matter. So she ducked, well in was more of driving out of the way. She took a hard flopping on the floor. Ouch. Ouch, "Slugulus Eructo!" She yelled the first thing that came to her mind. She quickly jumped up to her feet wobbly on her feet at first. She another spell. "Expelliarmus!" Now She would be ready to defend herself for the next spell.

Hirsch had heard a lot of pre-duel talk in his time, ranging from trash talk to the most ridiculous messages but I love you? Before a duel? Was that the right thing to say?
He just...... wasn't going to comment. There. Good.
The duel was off and, he had to admit, he was quite proud of the use of Fianto Duri. He'd only just taught it in one of his classes so, naturally, it meant that the girls had been paying attention and hadn't gotten distracted at the prospect of a food fight. Again, good. Needless to say, there was a wide, dimpled smile on the man's face.
A few glances at his watch told him that the duel was set to come to a close. Shame, really, because he'd just been getting into the familiar backwards-forwards motion of spells that came with duelling. But, maybe, the two girls were starting to get a bit tired so really, this was for their benefit. The shield went up, before any slug throwing-up or disarming could take place.
"Well done!" he called, approaching the two girls, "Very well done! I'm glad you've put what you've learnt in class into practice. Clearly, it worked!" Could they tell that he was pleased? "Well done on putting up a great fight, Miss Paton, but I have to say, congratulations, Miss Delgado, for winning this duel." Smile.
And they were free to go.
