Junia was glad to be facing a friend, though she certainly wouldn't be taking it easy on her fellow Slytherin. Her need for a win was still as strong as it ever was and it showed in the way she moved around the arena, with a confidence and focus of someone who was prepared.

"Ice cream after the duel sounds good, doesn't it? Winner can pick the flavor!" That was as good incentive as any and the brunette winked at her dormmate before taking her paces and bowing. Not even seconds later her wand was at the ready and she was saying, "Colloshoo!" That was a start, but not good enough. "Muffliato!" There.

Skylar was a bit nervous because it was Junia she was facing in her first ever duel. Sure she knew the girl, in terms of what she slept in at night among other things that dorm mates know, but she wasn't aware of what sort of dueler Junia was. She did know that Junia was like her - stubborn and competitive. Which is why despite being a "newbie", Sky wouldn't go easy, because she doubted that her friend would want an easy win.

"Sounds good to me," Sky agreed, moving around her half of the arena, attempting to feel more prepared than she actually was. Except next thing she knew her feet were stuck to the ground. Well she didn't see that one coming; totally the distraction of ice cream comment. "Contego!" she flicked her wand to shield her from the next spell, followed by a "Verdimillious", because green sparks were a nice distraction. And for her offensive spell, "Melofors"

Junia wasn't easily distracted so unless Hassan miraculously appeared during their duel, or she happened to notice a certain Gryffindor boy watching them, the brunette would be focused. Was focused, even if she could feel the sparks some. She winced slightly, but didn't falter. There was obviously going to be a follow up.

She was anticipating a spell following the sparks, only she hadn't expected it to be so forceful, and she had to dive out of the way. THAT had been too close for comfort. ...This wasn't going to be an easy duel at all, was it? That was kind of exciting. There was juuuuust the small fact that she was now on the floor...that part wasn't ideal. She needed to cast something strong so she'd have time to get back on her feet.

She focused her mind, training her wand, and said clearly, "Slugus Eructo!" Seconds later she was scrambling to her feet.

Skylar had been anticipating that Junia would react, because one advantage to having ones shoes stuck to the ground is that she didn't necessarily need to focus on wasting her energy moving around. Yes, she could have merely ended the spell, but truth be told, as long as she kept a shield up, it was advantageous - for now at least - to not have to much and exhaust herself.

Focusing her mind, she cast the "Anti-Jinx" on herself to block the impending spell, as she considered her next tactic, since Junia had evaded her other charms. Changing tactics, Skylar focused her mind and casually flicked her wand at the floor beneath the other girl's feet. "Glacius". Hopefully, if it worked, her opponent would be on the floor again...

Junia was watching Skylar carefully, trying to work out what her next move might be. She felt a flash of annoyance at the fact that her spell hadn't hit, one that took her mind off the duel for one second too long. As the glacius hit the ground beneath her feet, the third year went to step away, but it was too late. Her feet hit ice and she slipped, hitting the ground beneath her hard. Junia's head made contact with the floor and she cried out in pain. Ow ow owwww! She was doomed. This was not good.

Trying not to panic, all she could think to do was throw up a shield and she managed to call out "Protego," followed by, "Fianto Duri!" It was a preventative measure, the only one she could think of. She was so thankful for that lesson Professor Hirsch had given in this moment. This might be her only way to get herself back into this. For now, though, she stayed down and tried to get her head to stop spinning as she stayed in the protection of her shield.

Skylar had been biting her lip, both out of guilt for making Junia fall on her bottom again, but also out of anxiety for waiting to see if she would fall. And yes, she was awake and focused and watching her friend carefully now.

Gulping when Junia cried out in pain, Skylar instinctively wanted to help but reminded herself, this is a duel, don't cave now. Gripping her wand slightly tighter, to be ready for more defensive protection charms, she blinked when Junia only cast protection spells on herself, protecting herself when she was vulnerable. She didn't want to get rid of her ice trap, but at the same time, there was only one spell she could think of that would wipe the slate clean of Junia's protection spell. Only doing so, would likely remove her glacius as well. And free her feet from Colloshoo. But then again, she had just used a shield charm and a shield strengthening charm, so perhaps just a simple termination spell on that would do the trick?

Not wanting to take chances however, she took a deep breath, "Finite Incantatem!" she called, feeling her feet loosen up, and feeling confident that even though Junia's shield would be broken down, along with the ice gone, she herself would still be down (considering her head injury) for just long enough, to hopefully bind her, "Carpe Retractum!" she called, ropes emitting from her wand.

Please, oh please, Sky thought out of desperation.

Junia was fading fast here and she felt light headed, more so when she rolled away from the spell being cast by Sky. She felt like she was going to throw up or pass out or maybe both, because she was dramatic like that. Losing like this, though... Losing while on the ground didn't sit well with her and so she mustered the last bit of energy she had and tried to focus her pounding head.

"Expelliarmus!" She was on her stomach and probably looked a mess, particularly with the egg-sized bump she was currently sporting on her forehead, but she meant it. The spell was purposeful and she managed to make it to her feet before bending over and tossing her cookies right there on the floor.

...well, that was definitely not princess-like.

"I don't feel so good."

While Hirsch tried his hardest to steer clear of the personal lives of his students, he couldn't help but feel quite excited about this duel. His expression remained looking fairly neutral but on the inside, he was looking forward to seeing how Miss Diggory fared in this tournament. It was her first ever duel, after all. And what better way to break her into the club than to put her up against a dormmate who happened to be good at this?

And, if he could add in, eww!

Hirsch couldn't help but pull a face when the girl started retching over the arena itself. No, that didn't look like it felt good either. Surely, surely, this wasn't some sort of Defence tactic? If it was, it was the weirdest thing he'd ever seen and that was taking couple duels into consideration. Just saying.

Despite this, it wasn't long before the Defence Professor was rushing towards Miss Botros's side, being very careful not to step in the pool of sick either. "Easy, Miss Botros, take it easy," he said softly, wrapping an arm around her back and holding her up, "Lean on me, I'll take you to the Hospital Wing. We'll get you patched up in no time." Or Healer Reed will.

"Oh, and Miss Diggory?" Green eyes turned towards her before he continued, "Very well done on the duel. You're free to leave, if you want to." Smile. "Whenever you're ready, Miss Botros."

As for the pool of sick, it would be a good idea to make that disappear. Merlin knows the stench was starting to block up his own airway.

In any other situation, Junia would have been heart eyes over the fact that Professor Hirsch, the most prince-like and handsomest of all professors, was this close to her. Thing was, her head was pounding and she felt very sleepy and embarrassed, too. She'd failed. Her professor and her dormmate had witnessed the failure, and she felt like she wanted to cry on top of everything else. She was a Botros, she wasn't supposed to be a failure. Hiding out in the hospital wing was actually pretty appealing.

"'M sorry, 'm sorry, 'm sorry." She spoke quietly, not looking at Sky or Hirsch. "I'll do better next time, I promise." But for now they could go, she was more than ready.

It was a leap of faith that Skylar had made in casting the rope conjuration spell, but when she spotted her roommate rolling out of the way, for a moment, Skylar thought she was going to make a comeback and despite already mentally deciding on the ice cream flavor, when Junia rolled out of the way of her last spell cast, well Skylar wasn't taking chances. She'd come this far - with her brilliant move of the floor to ice - so why stop now.

"Protego!" She cast, just in the knick of time, deflecting the disarming spell uttered from Junia's mouth. And then what happened next was just all so fast. Junia wretched ALL OVER THE ARENA and then Hirsch came in and held her up to escort her to the hospital wing and Sky was just left standing there, not sure what she was supposed to do.

She felt both a mixture of horrible guilt in seeing her roommate looking SO vulnerable, but then there was also the sense of pride she felt in winning. Ugh. This was kind of cruel of Hirsch to have her first dueling victory be against a friend and really despite everything, she just wanted to sleep. She wasn't physically exhausted, but mentally so, and it just... was it wrong to want to cry when you won? Because seriously, she just couldn't right now.

But biting her lower lip, she nodded at Professor Hirsch somehow, appreciating his kind words, as she felt herself lean forward on the door frame entering the arena.... and felt herself slide down. Don't mind her, she just needed to rest.

"Feel better, Juni," Sky muttered, truly and sincerely. Winning against your friend was just as bad as losing.
