Default Inpatient's Bed 2

After you have been roughly assessed by Healer Reed, you will be assigned to a bed for further examination. Here, Healer Reed will examine you further, ask you questions about how you got your injury or illness, and administer his initial treatment. Dividers will be drawn from both sides, so you, the patient, can have some privacy.

Aside from the standard issued bed, Healer Reed took the liberty of providing steel chairs for your visitors. These are not meant to be comfortable, because your visitors are not meant to stay long. Apart from the chairs, there are two bedside tables where you can place your belongings. On one of the tables, there is a pitcher of clean water and glass for you to use; not all tinctures and healing potions have good taste. For those who will be staying overnight, a set of sterile pyjamas and a pair of clean socks are stowed away in one of the bedside tables. These are charmed to adjust and fit the patient.

OOC: Please do not post in this thread, unless you have been directed by Healer Reed to do so. Thank you.

After being briefly examined by healer Reed, Sam 'popped' off to his assigned bed, his good hand back on his arm again. He stopped at the second bed and maneuvered himself onto it so that his legs were extended, but his torso sat up. It wasn't as comfy as his bed back in the dorms. Hopefully he wouldn't have to be here for too much longer.

While he waited for the healer, he looked over at Junia. It was kinda nice that she was all concerned. Even if it was because she felt guilty - not that she ought to feel guilty, since it wasn't her fault. But either way, it was nice to have her here.

"Thanks for coming along with me." To the hospital wing, that is.

Junia followed Sam, deciding that she wanting to stick this out with him until Healer Reed asked her to leave. There was also the small fact that she hadn't had to spend any time in the Hospital Wing so far in her Hogwarts career and she was curious about it. She was.

Taking a seat in one of the rather uncomfortable chairs, the third year turned her attention to her friend and smiled a little. "You don't have to thank me. I just want you to feel better, you know?" Now that they were here, hopefully that wouldn't take too long. Also, while we wait I can think up what I get for winning our competition." Her smile grew considerably and she looked away, pleased with herself.

River returned with a small medical tray in one hand, and a white bandage in the other pretending not to hear the two’s conversation. A Gryffindor sustaining a minor injury, and they are still not done with their competition? The Healer wore a grin on his face as he summoned a medical stool from nearby, sat on it and began his tests on the Gryffindor. “Hogsmeade weekend is coming up. Will the two of you go?” As in...will they go together? Because right now, River was giving Miss Botros an idea. The place has got a lot to offer.

“Your shoulder socket did not get any fracture, but the muscles surrounding it might swell a bit.” It would’ve been a lot worse, if he landed on something hard...like concrete. River then carefully held Samuel’s elbow, and slowly unfolded his injured arm. “Tell me if you’re feeling any pain on your biceps...or any pain along your arm aside from where you broke your bone.” Call him a meticulous healer, but he’s one to be very thorough with his patients.

What she got for winning? Now, now, hold on right there. "Oh, but I do believe it was I who won. Even if it was ungracefully," he said with a small grin. Was she going to argue this? Maybe they had needed a referee.

But then Healer Reed was approaching his bed with a few things upon the tray in his hands. Sam watched as the healer now summoned a stool and got started, but it was when the man mentioned Hogsmeade that Sam's eyes lifted to his face. Oh, how cheeky. Sam was very much onto him, no matter how innocently their healer had said it. Briefly his eyes flickered to Junia before returning to the man's hands as he started to handle his injury.

"Who passes up Hogsmeade?" Sam asked, purposfully answering vaguely because the two of them had not established any plans to go together.. yet. Or he hoped for a 'yet' there. Either way, Sam wasn't about to ask Junia with Healer Reed present. "Are you going, sir, or do you have to stay back?"

Okay, so his shoulder socket was A-OK. Good news first. But when the man started unfolding his arm, Sam's mouth tugged down and he clenched his teeth. "Yeah, there, on the forearm," he said. "Not the bicep, though." He shook his head. Just nix with the moving it, yeah?

Yes, who actually passes up Hogsmeade Weekend? Not him, definitely, because weekends or not, he can go to Hogsmeade whenever he wishes simply because he’s an adult. However, that is not always the case given that he is the Healer of the school, which means, he always has to be near the facility all the time, until the term ends. “Probably my nephew. He’d rather spend his afternoon practicing his Kendo.” He commented as he continued to examine Sam’s arm. “And yes, I do have to stay behind. It’s part of my job to be on-call 24/7.”

The Gryffindor’s expression didn’t go unnoticed. “Pain acknowledged, Master Chevalier. Now, I need you to sit back and relax...and drink this numbing potion.” Gryffindor or not, he wouldn’t like the pain of re-aligning his bone by the millimetre. “Once you drink it, you will feel the need to sneeze. Don’t suppress it.” He said reaching for a clean face towel on his bedside. “You will need this to cover your mouth when you sneeze.”

As River waited for the numbing potion to react, the Healer wasted no time in preparing the next steps: He levitated a thick white cloth in between him and Samuel, so the boy wouldn’t see his outstretched, injured arm. “The numbing potion is a strong one, so you shouldn’t feel anything when I do the next procedures. Feel free to continue your conversation with Miss Botros.” Because he’d definitely need a nice distraction at this point.

"Very ungracefully..." Junia smiled a little and looked down, tucking some hair behind her ear. She was thankful her eyes were still on the ground when the healer asked about Hogsmeade. It wasn't the question so much as the way he'd asked it. Her cheeks went a bit pink and she waited for Sam to answer first, giving herself a moment to think. Then it was her turn, yes? "I'm not sure if I'm going, yet. Depends." On things and stuff. Because reasons. Yeah. "You're good at it, Sir. Your job, I mean. We're lucky to have you." What? Sucking up to the healer wasn't without its benefits. The thirteen year old was always surrounded by Gryffindors, she was bound to get hurt sometime.

Once the actual exam began, Junia stayed rather quiet. Being here was reminding her of when her grandfather had been sick, healers always hovering around and discussing his condition. It was a bit unnerving, honestly, and she needed the distraction just as much as Sam might now that his arm was going to be set.

Moving to his other side, Junia claimed the hand on Sam's functioning arm and gave it a squeeze. "Our rematch can be something other than jumping from swings, okay?"

Okay, so everyone except Healer Reed's Kendo-practicing nephew wanted to go to Hogsmeade. Being on-call all the time sounded like a lot, Sam thought. Hopefully over the summer break Healer Reed made up for his personal life falling to the wayside during the school year.

He caught the 'very ungracefully' bit that Junia murmured beneath her breath, but smiled at it and watched her move her hair behind her ear. It was odd, he thought, that she didn't seem so excited to go to Hogsmeade, or even sure that she would go in the first place. It must have been something else that was bothering her. Hm.

Sit back and relax. Well, he could sit back, but relaxing was a stretch. Regardless, he drank the numbing potion as instructed, and though it didn't taste all that disgusting, that pre-sneeze sensation overtook him straight away. He crinkled his tingling nose and....

"Achoo!"

The healer had given him that towel just in time, otherwise the man would probably be covered in sneeze saliva.

While Healer Reed worked behind the suspended white cloth, Junia was doing an excellent job of distracting Sam. It felt oddly nice just holding her hand, even if it was just their palms and fingers touching. He liked how he felt when their skin touched. "That might be a good idea for now," he smiled.

Anyway, they were to be carrying on conversation. Incidentally, the numbing potion was working quite well. "I haven't really gotten to meet your cousin yet. Is he feeling any better about his housing placement?"

Anyway, they were to be carrying on conversation. Incidentally, the numbing potion was working quite well. "I haven't really gotten to meet your cousin yet. Is he feeling any better about his housing placement?"
River clasped both of his hands in front of him, as he nonchalantly sat on the medical stool, waiting for Sam to sneeze. He was all set and ready to go, when Junia acknowledged him. It wasn’t every day that he get to hear those words from students. More often than not, he’d get a mumbled ‘thanks’ and then walk-off like nothing happened. To be honest, it wasn’t a big deal. As long as the students come back out healthy from his facility, then his day would be made. River grinned at the young Slytherin, and gave her a nod. “And it is my honour to be of service to each and every Hogwartian. Thank you, Miss Botros.”

Samuel’s sneeze caught his attention, and this prompted the man to get started. With a quick flick of the wand, the used towel folded itself and soared straight to a metal bin nearby. When the students started their conversation, River went on to do the first step of the healing process by spreading a mildly pungent paste on Sam’s injured arm. It took only moments to react, and River was able to see through the boy’s flesh, allowing him to perform the healing spells more accurately. The Healer started off my tracing the bruised muscles around the bone, making sure that none of it were torn or damaged. He then moved to the broken bone by slowly aligning the fractures, and sealed it with a regenerating spell, making a small popping sound. But before River wiped the pungent paste, the Healer started to prick Sam’s finger pads with a blunt needle to see if his arm muscles did a reflex. Satisfied, he then pushed Sam’s hand backward and then inwards to see the muscles stretch and retract as it should.

River kept his focus as he cleaned up the nasty paste, and wrapped Sam’s healed arm in a bandage and splint. “Ferula.” And they were done. “Good as new, Master Chevalier. However, you have to keep the bandage for the next 14 hours so as not disrupt the regenerating spell inside your arm. You might also want to take it easy the next two days—give your arm the time to fully heal. You don't want to miss Hogsmeade.” He said giving them both a shrug. “Alright, once the numbing potion wears off, you may go.” River added as he grinned at the two students and turned to the bedside table to clean up everything, placing used clothes into the metal bin nearby, and empty vials and bottles on the metal tray.

"I think Abey is warming up to it now. He seems less sad, which is a relief." The brunette smiled some at Sam and then her gaze shifted to Healer Reed, who was busy putting the finishing touches on Sam's arm. Handy spell, Ferula was. She was pretty sure you could use it on damaged trees as well, which she found quite interesting. "That'd didn't take long at all," She commented thoughtfully. "I'm impressed." Also happy they wouldn't have to hang around the hospital wing all day.

After smiling at the older man, the third year turned her attention to her friend and let his hand go. "When you're ready, I could walk you back. Make sure you don't trip up the stairs or anything. We can't have you getting hurt twice in one day." She wouldn't allow for such things.

As Healer Reed worked magic (har har) on his arm, Sam kept his focus on Junia. He nodded, glad to hear that this Abey boy was in somewhat better spirits. It'd be such a drag to hate your own house throughout your entire academic career at Hogwarts.

Junia was right - it was very impressive how quickly and efficiently their healer fixed his arm. Not long at all! "Thank you very much, sir," Sam said earnestly to the man before nodding in understanding that they could basically go now. Since this numbing potion was starting to wear off.

He gave a grin when Junia suggested she walk him back. "It's my arm that's regenerating, not my legs." One mishap on the swings and he was already labeled as clumsy! "I'll walk you to yours instead, if that's all right."

Junia laughed a little, shrugging her shoulders. "Best to be careful either way!" And really, she enjoyed teasing Sam. He was a good sport about it and laughing with him-not at him-was enjoyable. He seemed to enjoy the banter, too.

"I'll allow it," She decided as she moved out of the way so Sam could get up. Being walked back to her common room sounded even better and meant she didn't have to make the journey alone, which she liked. Attention on the older man once more, the third year waved. "See you around, Healer Reed!" She smiled some and started for the exit, assuming her friend would be right behind her.

After corking up the last vial, River turned to both students as they began to move out. The man had a grin on his face, and discreetly checked on Master Chevalier as he got up and moved along. "You are most welcome, Master Chevalier." he said giving the young man a nod. "And yes, I'll see you both around, Miss Botros...hopefully not in the confines of the Hospital Wing." he said with a smile, tucking both of his hands inside his trouser's pockets.

The Healer took the time to watch the two students go, and when they got out the door, he picked up his metal tray and went back to his office to update his patient's medical record.

River was quick to have his wand and vanished the dried blood from the boy's face. "Tergeo."

After cleaning up Mason's face, River went back to fold the boy's fingers in a fist and ushered him to go inside the Hospital Wing. "Let's get you fixed, shall we?"

OOC: You can now post in Bed 2!
He could have siphoned away the blood under his still broken nose himself if he still had his wand with him. He could have probably unjinxed himself from the jinx as well if he had his wand. Probably should have looked up the counter-curse first but he COULD have done it himself.

Instead, he found himself seated on one of the beds in the hospital wing and his expression could not be any more annoyed. "Couldn't you heal me out there?" he asked, speaking for the first time and pointed a fist at the entrance door. "I don't have much time, i need to find someone"............."Sir" he added in an attempt to sound less rude.

Ah yes, the classic teenage restlessness. River glanced at the young man as he pulled some supplies from the bedside table. "I brought you in here because I don't keep all of my medical supplies in my person. Also..." he trailed off as he waved the tube of numbing paste in front of the Ravenclaw, "I thought you'd rather not feel the pain of being punched in the face again when I fix your broken nose with the healing spell." Because really, he was saving him from another round of embarrassment.

"Someone...I see. Would you like me to summon this person?" He's the Healer after all, and he could summon anyone if the boy wished it. Without waiting for a response, River applied a good amount of numbing paste on Mason's nose, and waited for the blue paste to turn white. And while they were both waiting, River unfurled Mason's fingers one by one, and lifted the jinx for him. One hand down, one more to go.

Ah...right... of course he didn't carry all his supplies with him anywhere. He should though. What if something bad happened and he didn't have time to go to the hospital wing? "Try an extension charm on a bag and you can carry all the supplies you want" he said with a smile but then winced cause that hurt. "I use it to carry my books" and he did not want to know how many he had with him right now.

He also hadn't thought about that healing a broken nose was just as painful as breaking one so he sat quietly as the man applied the paste on his nose. He crossed his eyes to see the color change from blue to white. Cool.

Ah no, he knew he should have kept his mouth shut. Mason didn't even think for an answer to the question and quickly, perhaps too quickly, said "NO!" he cleared his throat in an attempt to stay cool. "I mean, that's not necessary, i know where to find her" his heart skipped a beat when he realised what he had said and he hoped that the man wouldn't make the connection between his state and 'her' right now...

Cause a girl who punches you in the face and can break your nose and jinx you is scary.

"Did you work at St.Mungo's before working here, sir?" he asked, trying the distract him from thinking and making connections as his fingers were unjinxed one by one.

Of course, he could've used the extension charm, but then again he'd like to think that that won't work for him as a healer. "It is a convenient charm, no doubt about that...but then healing potions and pastes like the one I applied to your nose tend to expire faster. If I kept it in my pocket, I would definitely forget to check its freshness." And to have an expired medicine in his pocket was a no-no. "Good for you though, Master Winslow. A very useful charm for a Ravenclaw like yourself. Just, make sure to check the book out properly from the Librarian. You wouldn't want to walk in ripped trousers..." A friend of his tried that once...and they all had a good laugh out of it.

River busied himself as he carefully removed the jinx from Mason's other hand, restoring each of his fingers to normal. "That should do it, let me see you open and close your hand...and if you can make a tight fist out of it." The healer stood back and watched the boy exercise his hands.

Her. So he didn't bang his head anywhere...or touched a cursed object. The jelly fingers and broken nose was done by a girl? Merlin's beard. When River heard the rest of the boy's words, the Ravenclaw earned a raised brow. Mason could thank Merlin's name because if he saw the act with his two eyes, there would be some form of interrogation and a possible detention. "I do not wish to meddle with your business, Master Winslow...but if you or her end up in the confines of this ward, then the two of you will leave me no choice but to contact your Heads of House." He doesn't mind the bloody nose or the jelly fingers if it had been an accident out of curiosity, as long as it was not because of a heated argument. Yes, too late now Master Winslow. The connection had been made.

"Yes, I did. I also worked for Castelobruxo." So dealing with teenage drama wasn't new to him, however, he isn't quite ready to say that he's used to it. "Chin up, Master Winslow." River hooked his finger under Mason's chin, and helped him tilt his head backwards. River pointed his wand in between Mason's eyes and made a quick flick with his wrist, "Episkey."

CRACK!

"Breathe in slowly...and breathe out from your mouth. Go on." River crossed his arms and waited for Mason to do the exercise. He wanted to make sure that his nose was back to its normal alignment before wiping off the white goo on Mason's face.

CRACK!

"Breathe in slowly...and breathe out from your mouth. Go on." River crossed his arms and waited for Mason to do the exercise. He wanted to make sure that his nose was back to its normal alignment before wiping off the white goo on Mason's face.
Mason nodded his head as the Healer went on about how the charm would not be helpful in his case. Still, he could not deny that it was a pretty useful charm right?

"I use the spell on my bag, not my trousers" he laughed and a second later he winced. "I should have mentioned that, sorry" Great, now he had a mental image of someone putting books in their pockets and ripping the fabric because of the weight. He laughed and winced again.

His laughter died quite abruptly when the Healer had caught on what had happened to his face and Mason, even though he had been ready for a 'talk' still lowered his head, his face and ears and neck red as a tomato. Instead of saying anything, because he had the feeling that 'but she started it!' would sound really childish so the sixth year went on to testing his hands and was glad that they worked normally again.

"You worked at Castelobruxo as a Healer as well? That's really cool, did you go to that school as well? as i student i mean?. I'm from Durmstrang myself" he pauzed a second. "I have no idea why i said that" he shrugged his shoulders as if to say, oh well.

Oh boy. He knew that his nose needed to be cracked again in order to heal properly and he took a few deep calming breaths as he tilted his head back wards. He did not want to see what was happening so instead he looked up at the ceiling of the Hospital Wing and a second later he gasped out loud when he felt his nose getting in the right position. It hadn't necessarily hurt, it was more the shock of it that had caused him to gasp.

Lowering his head and trying to not touch his nose, Mason did as the Healer said breathed in slowly through his nose and then out through his mouth a couple of times. "I can breathe" he tried again. "Normally i guess" and again. "Yep, thanks!"

River let out a chuckle, and nodded towards the sixth year Ravenclaw as he fondly recalled the memory. If he remembered it correctly, it was more of a prank than a master plan to sneak out any property from the library. "It's wiser to extend a bag...rather than the pocket. Who knows what kind of embarrassment it could bring." And should he mention that his friend wore a pair of unsightly underpants?

The Healer grinned at the boy, realizing that Mason had been babbling. Was it another attempt to shift the conversation somewhere else, or was it an attempt at a decent conversation with him? "Yes I did." Castelobruxo was nice, but Hogwarts was home. "I transferred out after finishing my OWLs here in Hogwarts to pursue a more arduous and demanding classes in Potions and Herbology. I was in Ravenclaw when I studied here." So yes, they do have something in common. "Durmstrang...and now a Hogwartian. I see." If he was a transfer from that school, then perhaps...combat wasn't really for Mason? "How do you find this place then? Is it better?" Or worse because he got hit by a girl? No matter how amusing it was, River would bet all of his limbs that the female Durmmies were a tougher crowd.

Trained to perceive the slightest changes in his patients, River did see the sudden shift of mood. Was the boy embarrassed? The Healer sat beside the young adult and gave the boy a moment to test out his fixed hands, his eyes shifting from Mason's digits to his flushed face. Oh...oh, he knew what that meant. His nephew never had a problem doing that. "I may not be your Head of House, Master Winslow...but you can talk to me about it if you want." He knew that growing up was never easy, and he wanted to help in any way that he can. With a swift swish of the wand, the paste on Mason's face vanished. He's fixed and ready to go!

So he did not study at Castelobruxo but here at Hogwarts AND he was a Ravenclaw as well. It was weird but somehow looking at the adults at the school was odd to think that they had gone to school as well as kids.

He thought of the question on whether he liked this place better than his former school. It had been asked before at the beginning of the term and he had answered Hogwarts. "I think i like it here better, i mean , i'm not a big fan of all this Dark Arts stuff that we learned at Durmstrang but i do have to admit that Durmstrang is better cause they have less staircases" and boy did he hate walking up stairs so of course he had to become a Ravenclaw. A House where the common room was waaaaay up top.

Mason continued to test his hands and fingers like they were brand even when the Healer decided to sit next to him. Talk about it? The Ravenclaw shook his head. "Thanks but i really don't have time right now. I'll keep it in mind though" which basically meant he wasn't because he did not like asking for help. The only reason he had gone to the Hospital wing was because Dora had taken his wand and he couldn't unjinx himself. Speaking of wands... Mason Jumped up from the bed after the Healer had removed the paste on his nose. "That's it right, i can go now?" Cause he needed to find her and demand for his wand back.

Castelobruxo was the same, in terms of the lack of stairs, but River appreciated Hogwarts more given that it catered to all sorts of students. "It's good workout though. The stairs." the Healer said, gesturing his head towards the general direction of the hallway.

As soon as Mason got up from the bed, River simply grinned at the young man in understanding. Of course he didn't want to talk about it...that's how teenagers act anyway. He'd been as secretive, and wanting to prove to his parents that he can do things on his own when he was as young as Mason. "Yes, we're done now. You're free to go." River stood from the bed, and started to clean up the mess he made while healing the Ravenclaw. "Have a good afternoon, Master Winslow." And do take care of your nose next time, please.

"Seriously it's okay, Kay. I'll just get treated quickly and then we will be out of here. I'll make sure not to come close to Marshmallow if she doesn't like me." Which clearly seemed to be the case. Ah well. All she Rosalyn could do was shrug this entire thing off and then take a seat. She already had a form done thanks to Kay, so all they needed now was for River to arrive and make sure that she didn't end up getting an infection or something.

"Good day, Kay. And...isn't this visit a bit too soon, Rose?" he was joking of course.

River crouched and inspected Rose's boot with one hand, "I can say that crup has good chompers." he said as he carefully let go of Rosalyn's foot. "Alright, let's get you healed." the Healer stood up to his full height and offered his arm to Rose.

OOC: You can now post in Bed 2!

Rose was trying to reassure her and Kay thought it was awfully nice of her. “Marshmallow will like you eventually. I’m sure.’’ But it was still so puzzling as to why the crup wasn’t taken with Rose. Very puzzling indeed. “I hope River’s not busy.’’ Just as she said the words, the man came striding towards them.

“Hello, River.’’ Kay smiled dully and was promptly confused by his words. Early? What did that mean? Had Rose been here before? Meaning had something happened before? Then she was distracted by the comment about the bite. “You’ll be able to help her get healed, right?’’ Of course he could! Excuse Kay, River. She just wasn’t thinking right.

Kay hung back as River offered Rose his arm but followed them towards one of the beds.

Almost immediately River arrived.

Rosalyn had to say that she was impressed with how fast the man was; always reliable. Also a bit of a comedian. She couldn't help but laugh at his greeting. "Didn't you miss my company?" she said with a smile. Not like she didn't see him outside of the Hospital Ward or anything, but she wanted to have some fun especially if it lightened the mood a little and make Kay feel better.

"Oh, yes. She does. Didn't do much damage to my foot beyond a bite, but I want to be safe because there is a chance of infection, right?" At least it seemed like a possibility to HER though she was definitely not a Healer. This was River's area of expertise. Rosalyn smiled at Kay. "I sure hope that she starts to like me more. Maybe when she isn't a baby anymore." Sometimes the little ones were like that but settled more when they were mature. At least that was her hope...

Taking River's arm, she made her way to the bed that she was being given. Surely this wouldn't take long and she knew that Kay was following right behind.

Taking River's arm, she made her way to the bed that she was being given. Surely this wouldn't take long and she knew that Kay was following right behind.
River gave Kay an amused grin as he lead Rose towards an available bed and summoned a standard emergency kit nearby. "I've seen worse injuries and wounds before, Kay. You can trust me on this one, besides, I wouldn't want to face the wrath of a certain colleague?" River continued, giving Rose a knowing look.

The Healer shook his head as he took off Rose's shoe and placed her injured foot on top of his right knee and started to clean her wound. "I wouldn't say I missed your company if it meant you having an injury first. I do care about my colleagues and friends you see," he said tossing the gauze with a gentle antiseptic, and applied a damp cloth soaked in murtlap essence next. "Given that the wound was fresh, there's a small chance of infection. Besides, I think the puppy's not a stray crup, yes?" he asked as he waited for the wound to heal and disappear.

Oh.

Rosalyn had not realized that the risk of infection was so small. She smiled at River sheepishly. "Well, you still got some of my company and we have avoided the wrath of said colleague," she joked as she watched him sort out her wound. "Thank you. I hope this wasn't an inconvenience when there are so many children that need your care."

At least she would be out of here shortly?
