Sniffle sniffle.....

Of all of the days to be sick it had to be the day of a duel, didn't it? Of course it did. Katerina was still going to do this. Or try anyway. At least this time Hirsch decided not to put her against her close friends. He really did like messing with her head when it come to her opponents.

She was dueling against Brent this time though... not practically friend friends per say. But still Kat liked everyone, it took a lot for Kat to not like you. Lucky for Kat thought this was his first term of dueling here, and she had been in the stands and had seen his last duel. So she had a plan in her head.

First she bowed, "Good Luck, Brent," Then she raised her wand "Expelliarmus." And in case that didn't work she cast, "Fulgari!" She still hadn't decided if she was going to to the protego like she had done last time. It did seem to work out for her then,

Brent didn't know how he felt about dueling a girl. What if he lost? No way would he be considered a macho dude then. Was he even considered macho now? On the other hand, though, girls were awesome. They could be feisty out in the arena, too... Brent returned the Hufflepuff's bow. "Good luck, Kat," he said, because even though they weren't close friends or whatever, he still knew what people called her.

She cast first, sending a fairly predictable spell his way. I mean, wasn't that what everybody would love to do? Disarm their opponent right off the bat? Yeah...but Brent wasn't having any of that. Not right now, at least. Just like last time, he followed that with a Silver Shield Spell, also at an intermediate level like last time. "Armanto!" he called out. The shield surrounded him and blocked the disarming spell from coming his way.

Kat had followed up with another spell, but thank Merlin Brent had put the shield around him. It protected him, but moments later, it caused the shield to grow faint then disappear. Oh, well. At least it had lasted him through two spells. ...and then, because he'd always wanted to be successful at this spell, he threw langlock her way. "Langlock!" he called out, putting all his focus an intent into the spell.

Kat was a seasoned dueler in the dueling club by now. She had put some extra studying into some of the spells she hadn't used before. She had spend weeks and weeks practicing and studying some for these spells . Even though she was feeling under the weather. This was going to be the duel that she was going to try some of them out. Sorry Brent. It so happened to be you.

Well one thing she could say about this duel that it was moving along well, and quickly. So quickly in fact she just had enough time to get a shield up. Shouting "Protego." She quickly reacted, and sent Purple firecrackers at him.

This gave her a chance to breathe for a moment, and decided what her next move would be. Mostly because she really wanted to try this spell during a duel.Yeah it probably wasn't the best idea to do this in the middle of a duel but she would be alright. Turning her wand on herself. "Avifors." Now she was a bird, a bird in a duel. This could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what happened next.

Flap, flap

Brent frowned. Why did everybody have to be so good at Protego? Just once, he wanted to duel somebody who wasn't so good at it, so he could pretty much hit them with any spell. Kat was not that person. She defended herself with ease, and even sent a spray of firecrackers after him. He ended up unprepared and had to jump out of the way in the end.

What a loser of a move, Brent.

...and then she did something that could quite possibly distract him and cause him to be unable to duel. POSSIBLY. He looked at the bird in awe. Whoooooa. He'd never attempted that one. The only thing that snapped him out of his state of awe was the fact that he wondered if, as a bird, she was able to speak. If she wasn't, she couldn't cast, right?

Or...

Brent grinned. This should be fun to watch. IF it worked.

"Avis Oppugno!" he called out, sending a flock of attacking birds toward her.

If Hirsch knew what Mr Westwood was thinking, he would've been very amused right about now. Macho man? That thought process sounded familiar.

As it were, he had no idea what was going on in the teenage boy's brain and so, went on to concentrate on the duel instead. It seemed as though Miss Delgado wasn't about to let Mr Westwood off easily. Good. A bit of a challenge never hurt anyone, especially in this kind of setting. Besides, there was probably something that both parties could learn from-

Whoa!

Hirsch's eyebrows flew up as the Hufflepuff transformed herself into a bird right before his very eyes. That was very, very complicated magic right there. And to do it under pressure would require a lot of focus to boot. Had she been practising it and simply saving it for this occasion? Did she know how to cast non-verbally? Because she couldn't cast spells in bird form, could she?

The duel? It had to come to a close. The shield was up, but not before Mr Westwood was able to conjure some birds to accompany Miss Delgado. "I have to say," he said, stepping out from the shadows, "That was an excellent display of magic! Really. Well done!" Whipping out his wand, he cushioned the ground before ending all spells still in effect in the surrounding area. Goodbye birds. "Congratulations, Miss Delgado. You've taken the lead in this round. And well done on putting up a brave fight, Mr Westwood." Smile.
