Stretching out across a section of the common room sits a unique library of sorts. With floor to ceiling bookshelves, this mini library belongs strictly to Ravenclaw Tower and, as such, are as unique as its inhabitants. Books on your everyday subjects can be found here, with extra copies of textbooks placed in case anyone needs it. However, the library also holds many books on other, more unique subjects: books on lesser-known sports, arts and craft and even music sheets can be found here. After all, knowledge doesn't stop short at school subjects, does it?

What's particularly amazing to note about this library is what's in the bookshelves themselves. Some of these books have been passed down from older Ravenclaw students who don't need them anymore. Their notes and other wise words can still be seen etched into margins and crammed on spare pieces of parchment in the books themselves.

Near the library sits a few comfortable armchairs and sofas, each near their own little lamps for the person who wants to do a spot of midnight reading.

Azura was standing in front of the bookshelves looking at everything that was there. Though what her purple orbs were really scanning for was sheet music. She knew there was some there, but she had to find it!

And if she found it, would it be for piano?

She moved her small hand over the books, softly saying their names as she looked. So far, she wasn't finding anything, at least not on this shelf, and she moved to another one to start scanning it. She needed one more song and she was hoping the ghost of Ravenclaw's past would be able to help her out..

Because that's who appeared at that very moment. Hirsch, levitating some books in his wake, approached the little library section of the common room. There were a few more books he'd managed to find and felt would be useful to the student body and so, he was here to add to the selection. They were mostly books on defence but there were some others in the pile as-

Pause.

Well it was funny that the very student he needed to see was here right now, wasn't it? Because the man had made all kinds of mental notes to see a certain purple eyed Ravenclaw but hadn't managed to find the time with everything else going on. So this? This was perfect, in a sense.

"Need some help?" he asked, stepping up next to her, the stack of books now floating next to him.

Azura looked up as she heard a voice and she smiled a bit as she said Professor Hirsch standing there. It was a little odd to see him in the common room, but it was nice as well. If it wasn't Mr. Kitridge, she was glad it was Hirsch.

"Ahh, well I'm trying to search for sheet music actually." She said with a smile, "I was hoping the ghosts of Ravenclaw's past could help me out with some song choices for my auditions, but I'm not finding any at the moment." She looked up at the stack of books he was levitating and she smiled a bit..

"Come to add to the library?" She asked him curiously.

The ghost of Ravenclaw's past? "I'm going to pretend not to be offended that you'd prefer Lady Helena's help." But he was smiling jokingly at her. Why? Because Azura had mentioned the one topic he knew nothing about. Sure, he knew what sheet music looked like but the man felt inclined to help her - and wanted to - but there was a large chance he'd mess it up instead.

But finding some sheets of music? He could do that. He let the books hover there for a moment as he searched up at the top of the shelves. Maybe it was a good thing he was so tall in the first place and could reach some of these shelves. "What kind of music are you looking for?" he asked, running a finger along the spines of a few books, "And what is this audition for?" Mostly for his own curiosity.

The mention of the books he'd brought along caused Hirsch to look down at them and then over at the Ravenclaw. "I found some extra books on Defensive magic and strategies so I thought I'd bring them along for all of you to read. I mean, books aren't the best way for you to learn this topic but, for some, it helps." Why not, eh?

Az grinned a bit up at Professor Hirsch, "Well I didn't literally mean Lady Helena, I meant more like former students.. maybe they left something here to help me out. " She said with a soft laugh as she looked up at him as he too started to rummage through the shelves.

"Well anything you can find that is for the piano really.. I was hoping to find some music composed in this century.. but anything works. " Inspiration came from everywhere really.. so she wasn't being too picky..

A soft smile crossed her face as he asked her what the auditions were for. "Music schools, specifically Juilliard and WADA.. i have auditions in February to hopefully get into them.. I want to be a classical pianist when I'm older. " She explained to her Head of House.. she knew it wasn't combat related but she hoped he could be proud of her for all the hard work she had put in.. If she didn't get in.. she still had enough time to figure out what to do with her life.

She nodded as he spoke of the books.. "I prefer the hands on learning.. which reminds me.. I think I might be ready this year to learn the Patronus charms. " She said with a smile.. "And some more advanced spells.. "

Hirsch should've realised that he was talking to a Ravenclaw. Not that there was anything wrong with that but their answers were always smart and came in a roundabout way. Sometimes. It was a style that amused and confused the man greatly. "I should've known," he started, pushing some books aside, "I think you'll be in luck: the former students are much more likely to give you a better insight into music than I am."

If only he could find the right books.

Looking over the section, he realised that a lot of them were linked to music for the guitar, with some ukulele pieces towards the bottom. So, logic dictates that he moved along, right? Of course. Hirsch strode down a few sections until he came to the keyboard and piano sections and rummaged through the books there. If Azura wanted music composed in this century, then 16th century piano sheets weren't going to do.

Picking out a few he thought might do, the man headed back towards Azura, arms laden with a few books and even a folder. "So these might be the best ones we have." There were a lot more books on guitars, funnily enough. "A Complete Guide to Piano Music from the 21st Century, Keyboard Collection: Hot Hits and Film Tunes You've Always Wanted to Play." Good selection? He thought so. But then again, what did he know? "And this folder contains some sheet music that former Ravenclaws have passed down and made notes of. It includes notes from the likes of," He flipped open the folder and started flicking through it. "Ethan McCarthy, former Ravenclaw Prefect. He's got a few in there. Paloma Robles and Hayley Diggory have added something in as well. A few from Miss Diggory, in fact. And Jun Kim, a former Head Boy. I think that'll be useful, especially the tips and tricks."

Julliard? WADA? The Ravenclaw Head's eyebrows shot up. Sure, it wasn't any kind of defence but this was good. More than good, in fact. "Firstly, that's amazing! They're both prestigious schools in the creative arts. You must be very proud." As was he, in fact, a fact that probably showed in that smile on his face. "And secondly, the very best of luck for your auditions. Or, as they say in theatre terms, break a leg." He knew something. "I'm sure you'll knock their socks off. Have you been practising?"

A hands on approach to learning? Finally! "Me too. You need it, in spell casting especially." Which is, sort of, a topic she seemed to want to talk about. At the mention of more advanced spells, and more specifically the Patronus Charm, Hirsch's face broke into a wide grin. "Of course! You can join in with Hadley Denaker as well. But I do have to warn you just how advanced that spell is. It will take a lot of effort and it might not be something you grasp in one go." Meaning, don't be upset if she doesn't get it right during the first few lessons.

Azura smiled warmly at Professor Hirsch as he spoke and she shrugged a little.."Well, sometimes I forget there are ghosts here.. even though I have one for a teacher. " She stated as she watched the man push some books aside..She hoped he could help her.

A smile came over her as he spoke of former students.. "I hope so, wouldn't it be fun if I used one of their pieces of music in my audition? And what if I got in? I mean.. that would be so amazing. "

Azura looked fondly at the bookshelves, despite the stairs, and the fact that most of the time she felt she should have been a Hufflepuff.. Azura really loved her house. Most of her best friends were from here, her boyfriend was as well. And now the Professor she most looked up to and admired was their Head of House..

It truly was like her family and she felt overwhelmed for a moment before blinking and getting a hold of herself as Professor Hirsch found some things! She looked at the folder and felt a sense of awe as he said some names, a prefect, a head boy? And wait.. Diggory? "Is she related to Noah Diggory? " She asked curiously as she took the folder and started to flip through it.. "Wow, these notes look amazing and so very helpful.. remind me to send them thank you notes. " She said as she hugged the folder to herself.

Azura smiled and she nodded modestly "I am very proud it's an honor just to be given an auditions, if I don't get in at least I can say that. " She smiled happily as she saw the look on his face. He was proud of her! And that was a very good feeling.

"Thank You Professor and yes, I've been practicing! I practically live in the music room.. I'm going to give it my absolute best. " She said with a happy grin that only got wider as his grin did as well.

"You do, it's so much easier to learn spells hands on. " She said with a happy smile as he said he could join Haddie! "Perfect! When's the next session?" She asked him before she grinned at him.

"Professor, I'm trying to get into Juliard, I'm not afraid of hard work!"

This point about ghosts was an interesting one. "Maybe that's a sign that you've gotten too used to them. I mean, you must've been, uh, surprised," Good word? He thought so. "when you first saw them popping out of a wall."

This topic about pieces of music? This was getting dangerously close to him making a fool of himself. Sure, it was the girl's area of expertise and she was probably all too excited about the music sheets but if she started asking him for questions or tips, he was going to be at a complete loss.

Though, in all honesty, he was glad it wasn't a topic about boys or puberty.

"Especially if they're pieces that have been successful in the past," he said, nodding at her, "I haven't heard you play the piano but, if you put in as much hard work into your work as you do in my lessons, I'd say that the auditions should be a walk in the park."

Noah Diggory? "I'm..... not entirely sure. You might have to ask Noah that question." Despite the fact that he hadn't been the one to pass down the sheets, Hirsch couldn't help but feel quite proud at the young Ravenclaw's words. "I think they wanted the younger generations to learn just as much as they did."

If she didn't get in?! "I'm glad that you're looking on the bright side of the idea of rejection," And he hoped she wouldn't be completely dejected if it happened. "But I do think you have potential. Keep up a bit of self-confidence." If these things were anything like interviews, that is.

While he knew that the girl was probably exaggerating, the Defence Professor couldn't help but raise his eyebrows at her. "Be careful, you're going to make me jealous with the amount of dedication you put into something other than my subject." But, even as he said it, there was a joking smile spreading across his face. Professors could joke too.

"Exactly. I've never understood the point of keeping just to books." Especially when spellwork was involved. "Good. You'll fit right in. Off the top of my head, I think I could free up some time next week Wednesday afternoon. How does that sound?" Though, it would have to be something he talked over with Haddie as well.

Azura tilted her head a bit as Professor Hirsch spoke and she thought for a moment.."I guess I was a bit surprised? But not a whole lot. You see both my mom, dad and stepdad went here, so I knew about them before hand.." She said with a smile..

She nodded and smiled as he spoke.. "We will have to remedy that soon Professor, perhaps I can play one of my audition pieces for you and see how you like it?" She suggested with a grin. Oh and maybe a piano in the common room next year, yeah? She could use the muffliato spell and practice here instead of trekking all the way down to the music room in the middle of the night..

She nodded as he spoke.. "I will ask Noah about that when I see him next. " She said as her mind turned to the Ravenclaw boy, she hadn't seen him in awhile and she hoped he was okay. "Well, It's still so amazing and I am going to leave some of my music here for future piano players as well. " She already knew the piece too.. she hoped it would do a future Ravvie good.

She nodded.. "Well Julliard has a less than 6 percent acceptance rate.. so odds are I won't make it.. at least not all three of them.. I'm hoping to make it into one.." She would be happy with that.. Music was competitive.. and she had to be the very best, like no one ever was..

She giggled as he spoke.. "I have enough dedication to go around I promise! I have a very large heart full of love for all subject, including yours. " She said with a warm smile as she grinned up at him before the bed softest of squeals left her mouth..

"That sounds perfect! I'll be there!"

She said with a happy smile.

Her family had been here as well? Huh. This was quite interesting to the man who was the first person in his family to come here in any manner. But then again, Durmstrang had been his family's choice of school. "Were they in Ravenclaw as well?"

She wanted to play him one of her audition pieces? Him?! "I'd like that," he said, smiling at her, "I'll try my hardest not to turn into one of the judges at Julliard, then." He'd probably have to brush up on his knowledge about music, wouldn't he? Not that it was necessary but he really didn't want to sound stupid in front of one of his students.

Hirsch's number one rule? To never meddle in his students's personal lives so he wasn't going to ask whether Azura knew Noah personally. Nope. It was better to remain blissfully ignorant. Her next words? Those were bittersweet and made him smile a little sadly. "It's nice of you to consider the education of future generations of Hogwarts, particularly Ravenclaws. You're right: a future young Ravenclaw might stand in the very same spot you're standing in and be looking at a sheet of music you placed here for them o see." His problem with this? The idea that one day, Azura wasn't going to be standing here herself because she would've grown up. That was a very sad thought, indeed.

And....... cue an awkward throat clearing. No force on this Earth was going to make him say those thoughts out loud.

"Less than six percent?!" he spluttered before he could help himself, "Less than six?!" He let out a low whistle under his breath. "That is a tough audition to go into. I hope the acceptance rates for the other two are higher." He still thought she could do it but the man didn't like the sound of those odds one bit. In fact, they made him glad that he'd gone into teaching, instead.

Enough dedication to go around? "I don't doubt that for one minute but I am glad that you like my subject." Pause. "From a completely biased point of you. Though I should be encouraging you to like all of your subjects." Just don't tell the other professors, okay?

Hirsch couldn't help but smile at that level of enthusiasm. It was always something he loved about his job, even with all the stress that came with it. An enthusiastic student who wanted to learn was always a pleasure to teach. "Excellent. I'll send out a word when it's time for the lesson." Next week Wednesday....... which meant that he had some planning to do. Huh.

But first, there was something important he needed to discuss with this young girl. "I was wondering, actually, how you've been doing? With the new year and subjects and everything else?" As casual as he had tried to make the question sound, there was very obviously a clear intent behind it all.

Azura smiled a bit at Professor Hirsch's question. "No actually, My mom was a Gryffindor and my step dad was a Slytherin. " She said with a slightly sad smile at the mention of Luke, she knew both her and her mom missed him so much.. her mom wasn't really the same since she had come back. "I think my actual Dad was a Gryffindor too.. I'm not sure. " He didn't count much, since he had left when she was a baby..

In fact it seemed like Professor Hirsch was more of a Father figure to her lately.. since all the men in her life had decided to leave her.. The young Ravenclaw had to try not to get too attached though, if this year was any indication, Professors could leave at any time and not even tell you..

"Thank you Professor.. I'm sure you won't turn into them at all. " She said with a warm grin as she looked up at him, she was excited to play something for him.

If the purple eyes of the small girl standing in front of the Defense against the Dark Arts Professor got misty when he spoke about her leaving, it wasn't mentioned, but she too felt the bittersweet sting of nostalgia as she nodded. "One of my favorite pieces.. it's going to go here. " She said softly.

She nodded as he spoke.. "Mmmm, less than six.. and yes they are higher thankfully.. odds are good I'll get into one.. " She said with a warm smile as she looked down at the papers in her hands only to look back up at him at his questions..

"I've been doing all right, a bit busy.. but so far things have been going pretty well. " She said softly.

No? Huh. That was an interesting development, wasn't it? But, seeing the sad smile on the young Ravenclaw's face told him better than to comment on it. The man could've almost kicked himself for even bringing up her family, especially considering why he had come to see her in the first place. "It's a good thing you ended up in Ravenclaw, then. I may be biased but it is the better option." Cue a dimpled smile from the man.

"Thank you for saying that you'll play a piece for me." Politeness, see? "Am I allowed to know which piece you're going to play? Or is it a surprise?" He mostly expected it to be the latter but if he was going to find out the name of the piece, it would help with his research process.

One of her favourite pieces? Those few words were enough to tell him just how much this meant to her. He glanced over at the folder with the sheets inside and then back at the girl. "It must be very important to you if you're willing to hand in one of your favourite pieces for future generations to see." And, in turn, he was glad he'd asked for all those pieces from previous Ravenclaw. Very glad.

Hirsch still didn't like the odds given by Julliard and, actually, found it hard to keep a face of confidence upon hearing those odds. But you know what? He wasn't going to mention it. If she got in, it would be amazing news and if she didn't, there were other options. "I'll keep my fingers crossed, then," he said, giving her a small nod of his head, "I don't doubt that you will. And if you do get in, are you going to learn more over the summer? Like a summer program?"

The things that had happened in the girl's past and everything she'd told him in his office were still fresh in his mind so to hear her doing well, albeit a bit busy, was a relief. Almost a joy to this Head of House's ears. "That's good to hear. I'm glad it's going so well." Here's hoping it stayed that way.
