| | The Courtyard The Courtyard is a cloister on the base of the Hogwarts Castle. This cloister seems to be one of the older parts of the castle and the ceiling and walls are dilapidated. Serving as the last area before approaching Hogwart's entrance doors, it also leads to the Wooden Bridge.
In the centre of the courtyard is an antique fountain surrounded by statues of eagles. Perfect for relaxing and making wishes at. Beware, once you toss in a coin, you can never get it back as the water surface sinks deeper and deeper preventing your hand from ever reaching inside to retrieve it. A pear tree also grows in this courtyard, free of worms making it safe to snack from.

For reasons. She did give it a think, though. She was being a good sport. The need for loyal followers was far greater than her current need to wiggle out of this conversation. "I quite like the lake and the creatures within." The Merpeople, in particular, fascinated the second year. "And my big sister is here, too." That was a plus. "What do you like?"

Randa mentally shook that one off... Something had definitely changed her over the summer holidays that was kinda starting to freak her out a bit... Her whole attitude towards most things had flipped from last term.
She shrugged a bit before completely apologizing... " Sorry... Long day. I've been a bit foggy lately.. not completely myself... " All nervous. but yeah. I've got my own room... Our house is relatively decent sized I'd say... the boys share a room though.. " she shrugged.
" But you'd said something about wanting to raise winged horses yeah?.... do you know much about them?" Because Miranda knew next to nothing about most magical creatures and ... Well... If Nat was wanting to raise a crapton of the things she had to at least know something , right? She had forgotten, but her eyes moving towards Storm playing with another cat made her remember. Her head really wasn't where it was suppose to be this term. Things were weird and different at the moment. "That's great. I don't really need a lock. My dad and his boyfriend never bother me. Our house is big enough that we don't typically run into each other if we don't want to." Which when she liked to keep in her bedroom or her music room it was nice not to be disturbed, though she did like hanging in the living room hoping one of them would pop in to talk once in awhile.
She said about the sharing the room stuff and Nat just nodded. She just couldn't relate unless you took the one bedroom her and her mother use to share. That wasn't something she cared to think about ever again. "I'm not sure when it was built, but yes I'd say it is fairly new. We just moved in it about two years ago." Christmas would be two years. "I know lots about them. My old school wasn't the best place, so I'd focus on the horses because I liked that professor and she was super nice. She let me learn on my free time with her and took me out riding." She knew why the professor took a special interest in her and she was just happy someone actually cared at that school.

After taking a nice, slow pace around the empty area, Jace took his cloak off, laid it on the floor near the fountain and sat on it gracefully in seiza position. With his bokken to his right, Jace felt the wand underneath his left sleeve and wondered about the things he would learn today.
Soon enough, his eyes were closed, both palms on his thighs and his breathing was even. He stayed in that position, busy calming his thoughts about the cold weather, and waited for the sun to come out. Tak couldn't sleep. He tossed and turned and yet for some reason the soft touch of lady sleep passed right by him. So instead of laying in bed, he was left wandering. At three am he had found a spot in his common room and completed some of the homework he had been neglecting. At four am he had searched all the couches for change before heading up to the library just for fun. And now he made his way outside, simply because the brisk morning air seemed welcoming.
He expected to see birds, squirrels, maybe some students wandering as well, but what he didn't expect to see was a student in a Kendo uniform. Curious Tak made his way over and without a second though shoved the boys arm.

Curious Tak made his way over and without a second though shoved the boys arm. Jace’s thoughts were definitely not in the present. His mind wandered back to last summer where he was practising really hard with his dojo-mates under Ryunosuke-sensei’s watch. Every block and parry were clear to him, and he saw all the openings he had missed. “More practise.” He thought bitterly as his gut sank down lower as soon as he realized that he was lacking. He will never get his Nidan rank at that rate.
Beads of sweat formed on Jace’s forehead as he kept his eyes closed and reviewed more of the practise session in his head. However, his heart skipped a beat when somebody shoved him. Did...did that happen in his mind or...?
Slowly opening his eyes, Jace quickly turned his head up to see the new kid in school, much awake as he is. Was he here to do some morning exercise too? Brown eyes looked into hazel ones, and Jace slowly stood up from his seiza position. “Ohayo.” He said with a grin and inclined his head towards the boy. “Are you here to exercise too?” Jace asked as he picked his cloak from the ground and folded it neatly. He's ready to go jogging around the courtyard!

Eleonora Bloom International Cooperation | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Harvey walked into the courtyard, lost in thought. It was already a while into his first term and while he loved so much about Hogwarts, he still felt as if something was off.
Then again, he'd never been away from his family for this long. Napoleon was doing increasingly frequent trips home with his letters now. Maybe he just missed them? That was normal, right?
Except that his sisters had never talked about being homesick during their years here, and in a dorm full of boys it wasn't really a topic you started. Not that you would with girls, either - they were kids, sure, but eleven wasn't that young anymore.
Harvey stopped by one of the eagles which surrounded the old, old fountain (it was one of his favourite spots in the castle) and, on an impulse, rummaged in his pocket until he found a knut and spun it through the air into the fountain.
He was curious to see whether it really did make wishes come true. He usually wouldn't have believed such things, but, well, this was Hogwarts, after all.

She knew why the professor took a special interest in her and she was just happy someone actually cared at that school. miranda listened and thought how luck Nat was to not be bugged by her dad and his boyfriend... Huh... so her dad had a boyfriend... alright nothing wrong with that... Although to be in house big enough to be left completely alone whilst everyone was in it was a depressing thought... Randa didn't much like her brother... but at the same time she was used to his noisiness and that if she weren't able to hear him or the others she'd probably feel utterly dispondent.
" Oh wow.. It must get a bit overwhelming though.. I'm sure there's times you wish there was another warm bodies in the room with you... " Miranda had considered her words only after having spoken them.. she felt instantly bad.. she hadn't meant to say something that could upset her new friend.. " you said you have a music room?... Does either of them come in and listen to you play?.. I mean... You're really good.. I'd think at least your dad would give you a bit of feedback yeah? " Miranda hoped against all hope that Nat's father took some intrest in his daughters interests to a point.. Otherwise she'd just hit the nerve again. " well, a couple years isn't really having just moved.... * she smiled * It's a home now... "
To think... Natalia had been lucky enough to befriend her old school teacher... and the most wonderful thing was that she had allowed Nat to learn so much about them and even ride them... Miranda wanted to ride one sure,,, but at the same time she was terrified of the thought... she was not a good flier by any means... " so you know just about everything then.. I mean about the winged horses?... That's brilliant.. I hope that there's a treacher here that I'll get on with well... To be honest I've been thinking of going down to the potions practice room and trying out a few potions.. Maybe the professor can help me figure out what I'm doing wrong..."
Miranda knew she'd gotten a bit off topic but she was about to bring it back 'round..
" Do ya think if we're allowed tpo ride them during our free time I could come out with you? " Miranda was hopeful that the older girl would say yes .. But then again Nat was much older and there was always the chance she didn't want to hang out with a second year.

He smiled as the boy dropped a coin into the water; it seemed the kid, like himself, had been drawn to the fountain. The thought crossed his mind to ask the boy what he'd wished for but stopped himself just in time. After all, if he told him his wish, it would never come true!
When he looked again, he noticed that the young Ravenclaw seemed like he had something on his mind. He wished he could help, but then again, it wasn't common for the students to pour their hearts out to the professors. Maybe it would be better to start out with some small talk and try to subtly steer the conversation in that direction. "Hello, Mr. Jarvis!" Gaston greeted the boy with a warm smile. "What brings you here today?"

OHmygosh.
Charlotte bit her lip and looked up at him from her snugged up spot under his arm. "You really pick me?" Char's wide eyes were still slightly unnerving for him: Dalton just didn't want to have overwhelmed her, or freaked her out, and he definitely didn't want her to think he was forcing her into a decision or anything. Was Dalton's rambling just making it worse? Probably, but he offered up his shy smile anyway, and felt the tips of his ears heat up.
"Yes." He managed simply, looking down at her and raising his crooked smile even further. "I pick you." Then he placed a really quick peck on her lips and flushed even deeper.

Questions, he's got lots of it! Well it did look like a strange place to practice.
But he was still wrapped up in the fact that there seemed to be another person from Japan here, at Hogwarts. The only other person he knew from Japan was Jael and she wasn't Japanese at all. Being only half himself, it was just striking.
The switch to Japenese almost wasn't noticeable to hm. Until the boy apologized. Tak blinked, realizing suddenly what had happened. "I understood you." He stated eyes still locked on the boy. Not just the boy- Jace. "My first name is Takeru. I go by Tak here....I don't like people mispronouncing my name." Which they did, and often. It was very aggravating. "Have you always gone to school here?"

Gaston chuckled a little at the Ravenclaw's reason for being in the courtyard, a reason he thought was completely valid. Well, that makes two of us, he thought. He hoped it didn't sound like he was implying the boy should be elsewhere; that wasn't what he meant at all! He was only trying to make conversation (and probably wasn't doing a very good job of it!)
His smile faded a little as the boy's next question caught him off guard, though he wasn't sure whether it was because it was the type of question students never asked him or because young Mr. Jarvis had just read him like a book! The thought crossed his mind to try to hide his own vulnerability and deny it but quickly decided against it. The boy deserved the truth.
Gaston replaced his wand and ipod as he looked at the boy, his eyes dead serious. "I do," he replied solemnly. Practically every moment of my life, his mind silently added. He wracked his brain for a piece of sage advise he could give his student, but he was still trying to figure out how to handle those situations himself. If only he'd asked him a question about charms instead... then he would've had all the answers! He decided the best way to approach this was to press the boy for more information, then try to find something to say when he had more to go on. "Why do you ask?"

Her life wasn't easy to explain and personally she didn't want to explain it, so when Miranda started about warm bodies and her dad or Diar listening to her music, she just really wasn't sure how to respond. She wanted to lie and say yes they were the best. They were a big happy family and all cared for each other and hung out, which they did... They'd watch movies once in a great while in the movie room, but in all honesty they weren't close. None of them were close at all and for at least Nat the walls seemed to build a bit more lately. "They are busy. Diar is a model and an actor so he is gone a lot and dad is a pro quidditch player. So they have their own things to deal with. They don't have time to just sit around and listen to me play. He's heard my bad though, but it's pretty sound proof so it doesn't bother them." She chewed on her lip a bit, "Dad took me surfing this summer and last Christmas he took a few of my friends and I to a beach. It was fantastic." He was a good dad in his own ways and she loved him. "I wouldn't say I know everything, but I do know a lot. I read about them in the library and have studied. My old professor made sure I knew my stuff before she trusted me to fly alone. " Thinking about it she should owl that professor to tell her how she was doing. Maybe she still worked there or maybe not. "Professor Newton is great. He would help you with anything you need." She felt Miranda could really get along with him if she needed the help. "Of course. I got to get a feel for this new professor, but if he lets us ride them outside of class you can come with me anytime."

Gosh she always said something that made people uncomfortable... she listened with a thoughtful smiles as Natalia talked about her dad and his boyfriend/husband person... It made her appreciate the fact that her parents showed how much they loved her all the time. She really couldn't imagine feeling as alone as she could tell Nat felt... The way it sounded to her Nat was trying to convince herself as much as she was trying to convince Miranda that life was just peachy keen... But she could see right through it...
" Wow, surfing?.. That must have been alot of fun....." , she smiled as Nat filled her in about surfing and the beach. " We're supposed to go on holiday during Christmas... I can't wait... " beaming.
Then she continued on talking about the winged horses... Such an interesting topic and Randa loved seeing her friend brighten up just at the thought of the winged creatures... " Well, you know more than anyone I know.. " smiling. " Hopefully We'll be able to.. I think it'd be so much fun to ride one around the grounds.. " She added with a little giggle.
" Yeah, he's a great teacher.. I just think it's something wrong with me... " ,shrugging. " But I'll go and see if he wouldn't mind giving me a few tutoring sessions... I can't bring any more low marks in that class... *she added with a sigh.

Kisses were good and this was okay. And she appreciated so much that he wasn't trying to rush her or force her or make her feel like she had to figure out all the confusing things right that second. But she WOULD try to be quick. Maybe she'd even know by tomorrow? Or.... or the end of the week! Or something! "Thanks Dalton. I think you're amazing." Really. And the fact that he was so understanding and nice and being an awesome kisser totally didn't hurt him either. She shot a little impish smile at him. "So that was what you wanted to talk about then? Want to walk me back inside? I'm getting hungry!"
And it would be nice to walk back in holding hands with her maybe-potential-possible-eeeeek-hopeful soon-future boyfriend, right?

Of course that would happen, given Charlotte's compliment. Dalton looked down and away from her slightly, maybe to hide the smile that she caused over his cheeks. Honestly unsure as to what she saw in him, the sixth year was beginning to just accept it. Because she was pretty amazing, too, and he wanted to spend time with her. So if she liked him, he wasn't going to complain.
He was sure, too, that he would be able to be patient and wait for her decision. As long as they still got to spend time together, even if he wasn't sure how they'd handle the situation if she said no...
But for now he'd just not think about it, and enjoy the moment. "Yeah, that was it." he nodded again, before standing up and holding out a hand. "I'd love to." He was also hungry, so lunch together? Maybe, please?

And his hand was never gross or clammy or anything either, not that she'd ever noticed. "Lets get lunch then, I'm starved! We can sit at your table." Had she mentioned the being hungry part already? Because her tummy was also making a noise of protest just to make sure that it was super obvious that it was time to eat.
The thinking could come later.

Well, no point crying over spilt milk, it was all out there now. "What should I do?" Gaston listened with rapt attention as Mr. Jarvis poured his heart out to him. It surprised him a bit that the boy opened up to him so quickly, but he was deeply moved that he had. When the first year had finished speaking, Gaston was looking at him sympathetically. The poor kid reminded him a lot of himself when he was that age; his heart went out to him. "I understand," he said. "I was in the same situation myself once." Okay, that came out wrong! "Well, not the part about the three sisters in Slytherin," he added quickly. "I was an only child, and my parents - bless them, they tried, but they're muggles and didn't understand me. Like you, I thought everything would change when I got to school, but it didn't... at least not right away."
The Charms professor shook his head. Why in Merlin's pants was he telling a student about his past?! Maybe it was because he thought he could use his own experience to help the boy? Or maybe hearing him open up had made him more inclined to do the same...
Gaston sighed, absentmindedly fidgeting with the many bracelets on his wrist as he searched for the right words. "Sometime making friends just takes time, but I promise it'll happen sooner or later," he went on. Or at least it had for him, both at Beaubatons and here at Hogwarts. "In the meantime, you could try striking up a conversation with other Ravenclaws," he suggested. "Granted, I haven't been at Hogwarts long myself, but I've found that most people are kind and would be glad to make friends."
He awaited the young Ravenclaw's reaction to his words. Had he helped him? He hoped so! He wasn't sure what else he could say...
