Stone Gargoyle

A large stone gargoyle awaits as you approach closer toward the entrance to the headmaster's office. It, even though a mere statue, appears to be closely watching you with every step you take. Or maybe that is just your imagination. Nonetheless, as you examine the intricate etches on the gargoyle, it is clear that it will not be moving any time soon ... unless the password is on the tip of your tongue, of course. Once the password has been said, the gargoyle will leap aside to reveal a spiral stone staircase. Step onto the escalator-like staircase, and you will come face-to-face with a polished oak door adorned with a brass griffin knocker.

Should it happen to be that you are not one of the fortunate few who know the password, you have two options: try speaking with the headmaster another time or patiently wait for him. On either side of the entrance are two chairs for you two sit in, accompanied with end tables that hold various books and magazines for you to flip through to pass the time, if you decide to wait.

OOC: Please post in this thread first if you wish to enter the office. Remember that only Hogwarts Staff will know the password to get past the gargoyle. Students should not be entering without being accompanied by Sahnoun or a professor, unless he/she is lucky enough to have been given the password ahead of time.

Natalia wasn't one to like to hang at offices, but she knew she had to go see the headmaster. She had to get her schedule down for her therapy and she wanted to talk to him about possibly doing another thing in the room of requirement again. Last year was so much fun and everyone seemed to really have a good time even the professors that had went.

So no Nat was standing at the Gargoyle, but not knowing the password. Really. She felt she probably should know this. She had been there a few times last term and now she was back again. Hopefully this term would run smoother then last though and she wouldn't be seen here. With all the staff changes though Nat was feeling anxious and her confidence in the term was a little shaken.

Alex walked up now he didn't rely want to see the head master what he rely wanted to see was gargoyle. It did look nice and now that he had seen it he was going to be going.

Even if one whispered the password to the gargoyle, it would not have budged. The headmaster was not in his office and, having learned his lesson from the niffler infestation last term, it was locked up tight. Instead of keeping busy in his office, Headmaster Sahnoun decided to position himself by the moving staircases, greeting and watching students as they went off to their next class or wherever they were running off to if they had a free period. And it was a good thing he was there at the moment, for a first year needed some redirection on which floor to get off on.

Once the hustle and bustle of the in-between periods had gone, the tall African casually strolled down the corridor back to his office. After turning a corner, he saw that two people were waiting for him, a Slytherin and Gryffindor by the looks of it. Though the latter didn't stick around very long.

"Good evening, young man," the man greeted as the boy passed by. Needless to say, he wasn't sure what that was all about. Then again, the boy looked young enough to be a first year. They were known for doing some bizarre things from time to time. Oh, to be young again...

Not long after, his gaze then turned onto the Slytherin as he inched forward. Once he was standing next to his gargoyle, Sahnoun said, "Ahh. Hello, Miss Franks-Mundie. What brings you here on dis fine evening?" He then waved a palm in front of the gargoyle, which obediently stepped aside and revealed the staircase. Looking back at the girl, he couldn't help but feel a somewhat anxious vibe coming from her. "Shall we head up to my office?"

She saw another student come towards the gargoyle, did he have an appointment? Not that it was her business, but she didn't want to have to wait any longer then she already had for the headmaster. "Hello" giving him a glance before looking at the gargoyle once more. Maybe she could guess the password, "snakeskin"

Did she really think that would work? No not really, but she figured it was going to be fun to just keep trying things to pass the time. It wasn't long though that she had to wait. Hearing the voice of the headmaster she turned and gave him a polite smile. "Well sir I just had to stop to bring you my healer schedule for the term and was hoping to speak to you about a possible Sirens playing in the Room of Requirement again." She really hoped he'd say yes again.

Looking towards the boy she wondered if he was heading up too. "Yes right behind you sir." The office was always an interesting one to visit.

Mohamed Sahnoun 09-17-2016 10:57 PM

Snakeskin? The man stifled a chuckle, wondering what made her think that he would choose 'snakeskin' as the password to his office. His gaze told her 'nice try, but try something more complicated.' Unless the students knew a few words of Swahili or could manage to persuade one of the professors to leak the magic words, Sahnoun knew that they wouldn't be getting the gargoyle to move any time soon.

He slowly nodded his head while Miss Franks-Mundie spoke. A schedule was very much needed from her, and Sahnoun was glad that she had delivered it herself. The second thing the girl mentioned brought a smile to his face. "I am interested to hear what you have to propose dis year," the African stated earnestly, always willing to do whatever he could to highlight the varying talents of his pupils.

"Oh, no, Miss Franks-Mundie. After you," he replied, stepping to the side and letting the stairs be accessible to her first. "Ladies first."

Bazinga 09-19-2016 07:50 PM

She saw the look and she just gave a sweet smile. It was just a guess and she knew it wouldn't be right. To be honest Nat didn't want to know it and didn't want anything to do with the office unless it was to get the Sirens to play again. Going to the Headmasters office certainly meant trouble most of the time and trying to get in without him around was not something she was risking. She knew her father would pull her from the school the minute he had a reason so she was really trying to hide keep reasons away from him.

"Well thank you sir." Nat did know her manners and she used them around the correct people. She headed up since he said ladies first, but she could talk while walking. "That shouldn't change all year, but if it would I'll let you now." Now that business was out of the way she smiled at his question.

Though she'd wait until they were in his office to talk business.

And Feeeeeelix ^^

It might've only been one floor but to Hirsch, it felt like he'd only just walked down the corridor to reach here. He didn't want to reach here so quickly, to see the Headmaster and sort everything out because frankly, the man didn't like this one bit. He would much rather be kicking back with Sokolov in a pub or reading up on the latest spot of dark arts. Both were much better options, thank you.

When he reached the entrance to Headmaster Sahnoun's office, the Head of House looked back to see it Daxton was still following and then turned back to the gargoyle. The password was said and, when the gargoyle sprang aside, he headed inside and onto the spiral staircase, beckoning for Daxton to do the same. Had the boy been here before? His personal records didn't suggest it but they also didn't suggest much before the recent pieces of information.

The time to dwell on that dwindled down the closer the door appeared. Hirsch reached up and gave two sharp knocks. There was no look of coolness or calmness about him now as he stood there, occasionally looking back at the Ravenclaw and then back again.

And now? The waiting game.

huzzah, it is i

Daxton was, of course(?), still following, but taking no pains to keep up with Hirsch's purposeful stride. He had walked all the way there in his own steady pace, keeping Hirsch more or less in his sights, arriving at the Stone Gargoyle perhaps five or six paces behind.

Strange. Three years (and a little extra) in this school, and Daxton had never once been called to this office. Given all the trouble he had managed to find himself in, that seemed a strange feat. In fact, he had expected that this meeting - and he was quite certain what would be happening today - to have come much sooner. He found it curious, in the most detached way.

Once the spiral staircase appeared, Daxton again followed Hirsch, waiting for a moment or two so that he could maintain a slight distance between them both. At the top of the stairs, he stood by, again a few steps from Hirsch, wanting nothing more in that moment to maintain that distance. He looked very pointedly away from him, staring at the door instead, and the blank and completely impassive look on his face may well have made Daxton look bored, and utterly unconcerned.

He was tired.

Mohamed Sahnoun 11-24-2016 07:00 PM

To be honest, Sahnoun was not looking forward to this meeting. Not one bit. While he waited for Roderik to arrive with Daxton Prince, the man was looking through the boy's file with great attention. As he read, each page flipping on their own accord when his mind registered the last word, a hand was rubbing his forehead, almost as if he were trying to rid the wrinkles that were starkly present on it. How he hadn't seen this student a year ago was a mystery. The case for this one was not a delightful sight for his old eyes.

Mid-way through one of the boy's referrals, two knocks sounded. The African's brown eyes rose up toward the door, knowing that his guests had arrived. Remaining at his desk, the man simply waved his hand and the door slowly swung open. "Come in, gentlemen."

A gesture was made for the two to have a seat in the chairs carefully placed in front of his desk. Mohamed gave the professor a look before returning to the files laid out on his desk where plantain chips and African sweets and tea would normally have been.
