He thought his problem was just writing, but it wasn't. So the notes would not be read anyways.
Questions??? "Why is this important?" His voice wasn't judging, he was simply curiously.

Watching a movie? That was it? Cool! Jonas sat back and wondered, would there be popcorn and soda? Apparently not...he shrugged. Whatever right? Yeah. His papers and quill were abandoned as he watched the film. As it plays, it starts out with black and white. His favorite part had to be when the color flooded into the screen.

She hadn't even read the book the story was based on so she had nothing to go with here. A lot of times at least she'd read the book.
But at least they were going to watch the movie!
...... why was it black and white? They had just been talking about it being in technicolor? Which was.... some kind of.... colour thing?
So whyyy was it.... actually it was almost more brown and white. Was anyone else seeing this? And what was a Metro-Goldwin-Mayer anyways? Why were there so many words on the screen? Was it all like this? Brown and white and a bunch of words? Was she supposed to read it all?
There was a bunch of names..... oh and now actually something interesting maybe? .... this story has given faithful service to the Young in Heart and Time has been powerless to put its kindly philosophy out of fashion.
Charlotte was curious about the capitalization of Young in Heart, and Time. Weird right?

"Wait for it..." he mumbled and smiled as the movie rolled on. Once Dorthy set foot in Oz.... BAM! instant color.
"Ha. Called it."

Paige was fairly certain that Professor Stewart had misheard her just now given the uncertainty of tone with her response to her question. She had been asking why the professor had selected this film...unless the technicolor process WAS the reason...which had the Hufflepuff's hand raised once again to ask WHY when another student (Tak) posed her question, the one she had been dancing around for a bit now and just unable to bring herself to speak directly, and thus her hand promptly went back to her lap.
Watching the film seemed harmless enough, potentially, but as Paige reached for her quill and a fresh piece of parchment...she knew she would be spending the time comparing the book and the film. Primarily where changes had been made and all accompanying judgements that came from that.
Turning her attention to the screen, Paige was confused at first. Where was this color they were just discussing? She was just about to set her quill to parchment and make some judgements about this - along with raise her hand and ask the professor - when a thought crossed her mind. More a passage from the text than a thought rather, seeing as she had practically memorized the text after having read it so many times. Read it and had it read to her.
"...the sun had baked the plowed land into a gray mass..." she whispered to herself mostly. "...even the grass was not green, for the sun had burned the tops of the long blades until they were the same gray color to be seen everywhere. Once the house had been painted, but the sun blistered the paint and the rains washed it away, and now the house was as dull and gray as everything else..." OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!
Which meant that the technicolor would surely make its appearance once she landed in Oz...
This was an artistic choice! One that...actually made SENSE.
Unlike the ruby slippers.
She was going to be upset about that...for a while.
Sorry muggle filmmakers.
Nodding her head, somewhat approvingly, Paige made a little note on her parchment in regards to the color choice for this part of the film, in Kansas, to best reflect the visual and tone Baum had created with his writing.

At first, he thought she'd make a walk out like she did in Ancient Runes (this one being more silent than the last) but even more curious, she'd taken the empty seat on the other side of him.
Brown eyes shifted to her at her greeting. "I take it this...movie isn't doing much for you either, huh?" He spoke low, not wanting to disrupt whatever Paige and the Professor would have going. Honestly, the boy was still trying to make heads and tails about this Wizard that came from Oz and why shoes were needed to go places and why it mattered that a mundane animal's coat was used. "D'you know any of this?" Sitting lazily (almost slumped) on her chair, the Gryffindor shook her head slowly. "Nope. Not a thing. And I'm familiar with movies and muggle stuff." But she hadn't watched a movie before, so she fit into the pureblood category more today. "Paige seems to know quite a lot about the movie to the point she has opinions." That was sort of impressive. The movie had begun! Well. Seemed like they would all start watching the movie and have opinions. Genny gave Blaise a meaningful look that said 'welp, let's see' before she slouched even more in her seat and focused on the screen.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Harvey Jarvis Second Year | Horses Forever! l l Writer for Life l Yearbook alumnus Harvey put away his notes as instructed, excited at the prospect of watching the movie. He had watched it before, of course, though on a television rather than computer. He still wasn't quite sure of these... computers.
But that wasn't the point now. Now, all he had to do was focus on the screen. As the sound filled the room (the speakers were really good!) Harvey smiled to himself as he settled his head on his arm and felt excitement building in him when the tornado began to strike. Now the real fun was going to begin!
He looked around, wondering if anyone close to him was feeling as excited and might want to share their feelings. He had a bad habit of commentating during films - he always made a point of being quiet, though!

Questions??? "Why is this important?" His voice wasn't judging, he was simply curiously. "It's important because learning about Muggles can help us appreciate them. It could help any witches or wizards who still think less of them get rid of their negative views. Just you all learning about their various cultures- their movies, music, books- can do exactly that.'' The movie itself wasn't important. Kay smiled in Tak's direction. "It's my goal to help you appreciate them and this movie is a good way to start.'' But most of her students were already so open minded that she needn't try too much. OOC: Hey, guys! House Elves will be making their appearance soon so be sure to grab some snacks they bring And remember to thank them!

A little pop indicated that a visitor had found his way inside. That same visitor had a try of cookies and brownies and he was standing near the movie that was playing looking at all the students. "Misses wanted goodies for the class. Pips made special goodies just for all of you. Pips likes to make goodies for all his favorite students." All the students and professors were his favorites and he loved to make things for them.

Blaise was sorta...blinking at the Professor--but having sat through Defense Against the Dark Arts, he'd come to the conclusion that when a Professor prompted you for talking, you weren't meant to give a response. He supposed he was just a little confused. He and Bentley had been focusing on the lesson. They were trying to figure out the movie, much in the same way he now was with Genny.
Not willing for another visit to a Professor's office, the boy simply nodded his head and feigned interest in the screen until she'd moved on to the next person, then it was all nods for what Genny said. Paige DID know enough to have opinions. An awful lot. [b]"I dunno much about muggle movies and stuff but I know even less about the ones that don't have colou--oh, colour. When did that happen? "I don't think this movie knows how to make up its mind." He muttered back to her. Was it black and white or not?

Instinctively Blaise leaned a little closer to the girl as she began whispering but what she said had his eyes opening a little wider. "Do they?" He did his best to keep his voice below the powerful speakers. Wasn't hard. They were loud. "That's a legit thing? How d'you know?"
The popping sound drew his attention momentarily from Genny. Pips. The special guest he presumed and he'd brought snacks for the class. Blaise spared only a moment's glance at the elf before turning to the screen again. He didn't eat anything offered to him by Professors and his cousin didn't like sweets.

| Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something... They were going to watch the movie? Really? Not that Nat was against this, but it was weird to watch something in a class. Her eyes glanced around as if to see if there was indeed a joke with this, but no it really seemed like the truth so she turned and got comfortable. She didn't put her things away because she figured if the movie got boring she could at least draw and doodle on her parchment. Maybe she could write a note or something.
Once the movie started she heard the comments from the others, but kept quiet as she watched. The black and white was a little odd, but soon enough it was full of color and it was pretty colors. She loved the ruby shoes and knew that the person and charge made the right decision on changing that from what the book said. Look at how they popped out at you and sparkled. She wondered if she could find shoes that looked like that. She knew a dress Kelly had in the closet that would be perfect for them.
Hmm...
Pulling out parchment she started writing;

Bentley leaned back in his chair and 'watched' the movie. He didn't get it. Maybe if something was exploding he'd be more inclined to watch. This stuff seemed to be more up Rooney's alley.
He let out an exasperated sigh and clicked his tongue. Riveting this movie was. To top it off, he couldn't even continue his conversation with his cousin after the professor moved on because he seemed to be engrossed in conversation with someone else.

And then dancing singing little people... ' What in the Sam Hill was this?!'she thought to herself...
She looked at the snacks in her hand and thought about it... Just for a moment, but still the thougt was definitely there...

Azura bit her lip a little as she kept her writing materials out, she was going to take notes on anything she could, just in case they were on the exams! Though as the movie started she felt emotions welling up as she remembered watching this movie with her mom.. She remembered snuggling and listening to her mom sing "Over the Rainbow."
Memories fell thick on the Ravenclaw as she heard the song move through the room and a few tears fell from her face.. as she closed her eyes and listened to Judy Garlands amazing voice.. yeah it was better than her mom's.. but still..
She carefully wiped her eyes on her sleeve as she opened her eyes as the song finished..
This might be a long movie. |

Blaise spared only a moment's glance at the elf before turning to the screen again. He didn't eat anything offered to him by Professors and his cousin didn't like sweets. Genny was not even fazed by the professor's comment to Blaise and his cousin. She was discussing the lesson with Blaise technically, so she didn't have anything to scold them for if they continued talking while the movie played on. The movie that turned colorful at that, yes good, Genny loved the colors more. Although this Dorothy girl sounded a little annoying to her, no reason except that she did. "Maybe the director changed its mind after shooting the first few scenes." Bahaha. Of course not. It must be kind of 'artistic' back in the day. Now it just looked dumb.
Moving on to the more pressing discussion at hand. Genny looked as serious as the professor when she explained Dorothy's shoes issue. "Yep." They did. "My mom's side and my brother have lots of muggle connections, so I know things." Prohibited things even. "They go out to cinemas to make out in the dark. It must be a fun experience that everyone does it....." She gave his close face a once over before feeling the need to move away a tiny bit more.
The house-elf brought them food, though!!!!!!!!!! Genny loved food, so she literally beamed at the little creature when it started talking with no voice being heard over the movie's volume. She waved him over so he'd drop some food at her desk! FOOD! YAY! |

Nimma appeared behind Pip with a tray full of cups of hot chocolate. Hot chocolate for the studentsies as per Mistresses request. "Nimma brought hot chocolate for the studentsies to wash down the cookies."
Nimma made her way throughout the room handing out cups of hot chocolate, popping in and out with new cups whenever the tray was empty.

"Thank you Nima," Jonas said o the little house elf.
He took the mug and took a sip. Ooh. Well this is hot. Muttering something to cool the chocolate a bit but still keep it warm.
He then turned his attention to the movie. Was it just him or was he the only one enjoying this? Dorthy started singing somewhere over the rainbow.

| Post 1 Stephanoodle || Adorable Nerd So I guess the Professor wanted them to watch the movie now huh? He rolled his eyes and figured what could be worse? He lifted his head just to take a peek of what was going on. He saw the movie was tinted with a bit of beige color and he saw Dorothy singing to a song. Somewhere Over the Rainbow it seemed like. He didn't think it sounded too good. In fact it sounded annoying. The dog was making the scene though. It was quite cute. Her outfit was not the best but then again it was 1939. So what more could be expect. He tried to mute out her song. He hoped a better scene would be coming soon.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Lola A. Second Year | post 1 and thanking the house elves Mischievous Niffler Ooh they were going to watch it! Kitty had seen Wizard of Oz many times of course (though only three times that she could currently recall) but a good movie never grew old. Plus, watching movies was a comfortable experience all on its own - whether or not you really loved the film (and she did.)
She settled back in her seat and watched as the theme started playing. It was not in color of course. To Kitty that was part of the charm of the film. She knew that when Dorothy went to Oz the film would became colorful. "Yes please!" said Kitty happily to Nimma and Pips as they brought in milk and cookies. "You guys are awesome." |

FOOD! YAY! For as much as he was trying not to disrupt the movie for anyone else, Blaise couldn't help but snicker at Genny's suggestion. Muggles were sometimes an indecisive bunch making the excuse just as legit as any other. "I bet the people in the theatre way back then thought it was really neat." What with the advent of technology and all that stuff, they couldn't have been too used to seeing stuff like this. Come to think of it, they might have been blown out of the park.
And this was actually interesting--not the girl who'd just found herself hopelessly lost in a completely different world and was handling it QUITE calm under those circumstances, but rather this muggle practice Genny was explaining. Did Bentley know about this?
He didn't think to question her leaning away, oh no, he had questions otherwise. "But then why pay to watch the movie? Do the people that work there just...let them?" He got that the cinema would be dark and all but he still imagined it'd be a bit awkward.
While Genny signaled the elf over, Blaise found his gaze shifting momentarily back to the film. He wasn't entirely sure what was going on--having been only occasionally glancing at the screen every now and then--but WHAT was that lion? "This is practically scandalous." He decided. A cowardly lion sure but that guy on screen was a downright awful mess! Circe.
