Mister McLeod's Hut

http://i1026.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4kacoayb.png
A single living hut, where Sir McLeod resides at a safe distance away from the Forbidden Forest with the entire Grounds area visible within sight from here. Despite the small exterior, upon entry you see a spacious living room, decorated with some ornaments hanging from the ceiling and doors leading to his bedroom, a personal dark room and facilities of his own. There is a fireplace where most of the time a copper kettle is used to boil water near some comfy recliners and a table. In the corner stands shelves of books, family pictures, his camera and own personal mementos. Giving off a lively atmosphere as an open window allows the smell of fresh trees in during the warm days. Sounds relaxing, doesn't it?

Wish to see the Groundskeeper over some tea? Advice? Don't be shy, you may knock first and wait until he is available.

It was with determination in his heart and a stern look in his eye that Paul Myers knocked on Justin's door to his hut. He stepped back after doing so, crossing his arms over his chest as he waited for the Slytherin Head of House to allow the Herbologist into his abode.

He was going over a list in his head. A list that had taken up much of last night rather than sleep; Paul might be the Hufflepuff Head of House, but he was not a pushover, Justin McLeod.

Paul was quite certain badgers ate snakes for breakfast in the wild.

It was the morning after the beginning feast for Justin as he spared a rare time recollecting the previous night. It was rare because he wasn't the type to dwindle over anything that wasn't happy. A certain tragedy caused such habit to form. But Merlin... that was his buddy and they had both crossed a line for each other.. He needed a cheering up.. and what better way than to check up on his daughter. Sitting in his chair as he bit into one of the biscuits, he took his mirror out to check up on Lucy. He smiled at her, giving a wave at her still sleeping. He was glad to have it set up by her bedside so he wasn't feeling as distant from her wherever he happened to be. Some knocking on his door then occurred making him tuck the mirror away.

Justin first checked out his window, welp he didn't see any danger from the forest so that was a good sign of relief. So he opened it, to see Paul...

For once he didn't send his usual beaming smile. He didn't look upset either, just.. "Yes Paul?" Blank. What did he want? Justin didn't know, but had a strong feeling on what it had to do with. So he waited to hear it before deciding what to do.

kayquilz 09-09-2016 06:10 PM

He was beginning to wonder if Justin was busy and he should come back later when the man opened his door. Paul nodded at him politely. "May I come in, Justin?" he asked quickly. "We can have some tea and talk?" He proposed gently. As fiery as he had been feeling all night and....leading up to Justin opening the door, he sort of felt..mellowed out now.

Weird.

And he had so much RAGE planned for this, too. He would handle it, though. He would. "If you're not busy, that is. Being the new flying instructor and all.." which was sort of meant as a joke...but seeing as he was annoyed with Justin right now, the tone might been off and...yeah. oops.

Justin if he wanted to continue thinking would've assumed the worst from his ideas on why Paul was here. Yet they were seeming to vanish. Why? Well, he was polite with him.. Oh right, Head of Hufflepuff. He knew enough time with the Hufflepuffs brought out the soft side in anyone. Not that he would admit this. A man's got to keep some secrets after all. Just not from Justin. Ahem.

He raised his brows at the tone. Okay, maybe he was faking being nice. Well, whatever. They needed to talk anyway. "Fine. I have some biscuits on the table if you want some with it." Letting him in before he followed after to get the tea ready.

Getting some cups Justin poured the warm liquid into them before offering one to Paul as he sat. Face to face. Now who would go first? Well, that was difficult to tell without any ladies in here. Sipping his tea, "So..." He definitely had things to say, but given the tone he received it was clear that it was wanting to slip from Paul's mouth more.

"I'm fine. I don't want any biscuits. Perhaps just a cup of tea. Or anything to drink, really," he suggested softly as he stepped into the hut, peering around. It was neat, as Justin's hut usually was, and he took a seat without further ado.

"Well," Paul began, clearing his throat as he sat up straight. "I think...........you....owe me an apology," he raised his eyebrows a bit. "For majorly stepping on my toes at the feast. You took points away from my house,....for disciplinary reasons, when I was standing right now. And you had no need to be down at my table anyways, Justin," his voice was soft, his tone calm, but his blue eyes had met Justin's. 'It SEEMED to me..that you were just wielding your power over mine. Which, let's be honest, you have none. We're on the same level."

Hmph.

Hmph.

So here the two were, sitting across each other, with a plate of biscuits and tea in between them. Luckily there wasn't a long wait from either before the discussion got started.

Hm. Both of Justin's eyebrows raised at the first sentence that came from Paul's mouth. He then heard the rest of what he said. He sounded hurt, offended even. "Hm.. right.. I'm sorry you're thinking like that." Sipping his tea, "Here's what I think." Before beginning, "I think it's insulting your ego that me taking points from your house after would mean you had less power. You don't have less power than me and I don't have less than you, so you're right that we're both on the same level. That's how I also see it." The fact that a boy actually questioned him over it made his buddy Paul look even smaller. The thought made Justin wish he had taken more points for that. "If I did have more power than you, then I would've made it a rule that you weren't allowed to take points from my own house without my permission when they're misbehaving." Did he see where he was going with this? Justin was sure he did. Paul was a smart one, since he was a Ravenclaw and older than him. Justin couldn't benefit with one less friend if this turned out wrong.

"The Bloody Baron, is a resident of my house. So him being there when there was a ruckus going on definitely means I should to be there as well to see what was going on." He explained this just as calmly, mostly in part to the tea's side effects. "The fact is one of our ghosts, the Baron, was left offended and unwelcome by your house when he was doing what he normally does. Putting a stop to Peeves on a night for Abraham. It just happened to be where your house sits at." But hey, he wasn't going to waste all of his breath protecting the Baron when everyone already heard his side of the story. "We heard why the Baron did that and I get why your students wanted to be left alone.. yet you still only rewarded your house for disrespecting and driving a longtime resident of my house away." That was his main point. "I had no choice but to remind them on the fact. Would you accept the same from me if my house treated the Fat Friar the same way?" Now this was a secret he was wanting to know. Maybe Justin was missing out on something else that would make his point moot? If so, he had to know because he wasn't a mind reader.

Insulting his ego? Paul looked around for whatever ego Justin was speaking of--right, HIS ego. But he waited for Justin to finish his spiel before he spoke. Because he did NOT have a huge ego. A normal sized one, sure. "You majorly undermined my authority, Justin. The students have been talking, apparently. Some little gossip thing they have circulating...said so. So it isn't just me, Justin. it is not just me being crazy or making this a big deal. You stepped on my toes. And I am not happy about it, nor will I pretend you had a right in doing what you did." He sipped his tea calmly.

"Oh codswallop, Justin. I would never have taken points for something so silly. Plus, the BARON pulled the poltergeists over to my table while they were giving Botros a toast. How bloody rude. The Friar would never have done something so ill-conceived. And the Baron is a tough ghost--I doubt his feelings were hurt." After all, since when had the Baron even HAD strong feelings for anything? "And it seemed they were yelling at him because he wasn't listening to their demands. Do you know what it's like to be a Hufflepuff?" he asked suddenly. "What it's like for everyone to think they can...walk all over them? Or that Hufflepuffs will 'sit quietly' while someone treats them with disrespect? No, you don't. You're a Slytherin. And for the Baron...to just PULL the poltergeist couple aside at THEIR table...it looked bad, Justin. It did. And you can't deny that."

Hmph. MORE Hmph's.

The more Justin heard from this man, the more it became clear that his own word didn't matter. Did he really just forget exactly what he said? "Taking points from your house does not undermine your authority." Seriously, how many times did he need to say this. His students were warping his mind in Justin's point of view at this exact moment. Was it only because he happened to be right there too that he felt like this? It sounded it like from Paul. If Justin thought about it more, he could see himself be a little irked in an opposite situation, but mainly about losing points and not over his title as Head of House... But then he remembered how alot of the male colleagues he met here were pretty sensitive. Not in a bad way, but in a noticeable way. Seeing how Paul was too in the end made him sigh, "Look. I am sorry that it looked like that and for making your feelings hurt. I'm not sorry about taking those points though." As for the gossip. Well, nothing Justin could do if he really cared about that.

Oh, he was not going there. But he did. The way Justin's brows lowered as if he might blow up said it. He had plenty of reason right there to remind Paul that he wasn't a Hufflepuff either and how he seriously doubt that he would've not reacted that way based on this type of reaction he was already getting... But no. Paul to Justin was already blind in hurt, adding anger to it wasn't going to end good. He knew the chances of finding all those extra secrets about Paul would go right out the window if he said anything like that. "Yes, I am a Slytherin and we wouldn't want to tolerate that either so I get it." So instead, he circled the teabag in his cup around before drinking the rest. "Do you remember the Baron's reasons for being there, Paul? Every single one of them including why he didn't leave? Nothing from his transparent mouth said anything about walking over the Hufflepuffs deliberately as if they would be alright with it, so I don't even know where that idea is being thrown about from." If he needed a replay on everything said, then fine. But only if asked. "Look, I get it now that your house felt threatened and they wanted everyone gone for some extra peace. But to me it looked just as bad, if not worse to see the house you're leading push their anger on a respected ghost who did nothing more than be at the wrong place at the wrong time to drive those poltergeists away. Given what happened you can not have expected me to just sit quietly while my own house ghost was being attacked and then seeing you reward them over it." Albeit he was just a ghost, but still a respected one with some authority as well. If Justin had to repeat this fact over and over to get it through to this man, then he would.

Would this still have happened if it were a Professor instead of the Bloody Baron? Who knew? One could only imagine the circumstance. Fact is nothing could change what happened then, but not. Refilling his own drained cup Justin continued, "C'mon Paul, you can't deny that this wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for Peeves and Miffy." They were the ones to start the chain of reactions, not the Bloody Baron. Why did the ghost have to be 'punished' for trying to solve the issue in a bad place? Merlin. Something had to come to an agreement before they danced in more circles with this conversation.

kayquilz 09-14-2016 04:08 PM

Merlin, it was like speaking to a teenager. It really was. Paul decided he would just roll his eyes at the remainder of Justin's words speaking of teenagers. "Well. You need to worry about your own students at the feast. I can take care of mine," He said sharply, ready to drop the subject. "Does this mean I don't want to discipline my kids? Of course not. If one is doing something wrong in the hall, corridor WHEREVER--by all means, take points. But you blatantly disrespected me." Hmph.

"I assume they...are assuming. Which, I know is not very logical on their part, but that is how they felt about the situation." And that was that. And Paul was didn't feel like lingering. "Also, I feel you saying the Baron was attacked is a bit overdramatic. They were merely yelling at him to leave. The Baron is a tough ghost. I think he can handle it. He should have known better than to BRING those fiends to any ONE house table."

He stood, though, and drained the rest of his tea, setting the teacup down gently. "I want to put this behind us. It's silly, really, but I needed to get it off my chest." He snorted. "It's no one's fault. Sure, Peeves and Miffy are...extraordinarily nasty so far this term...meh," he shook his head sadly. "It's over. It all happened--whatever. I'm too old to stay mad at anyone for too long," he said gently, thinking of his old headmaster.......

Age had been plaguing his mind recently.

"Fine." Justin said with finality. Next time he'll just make sure Paul isn't on the scene anymore if another situation like this came about before reacting. If that was how he could treat his power with respect. He already apologised over this, so there was no other reason to repeat it.

Justin however couldn't help his eyes looking upward at his brows at the next words. Overdramatic. Right. Sure Pauly. Let's see how his house ghost handles a bunch of angry snakes yelling for an action he had good intentions on. Goodness, and many thought he was being stubborn. A short sigh escaped, "I'd rather we put it behind us too." Yes, let's just put this all in the past... Except Justin couldn't help noting one thing, Paul still won't admit his own wrongdoing. Sneaky little Ravenpuff. It didn't sit well with him to end it one-sided. "So you really think Peeves and Miffy aren't at fault for interrupting Botros' memorial feast?" Any little anger in his tongue was already gone by now, so he had asked with a definite calm. "I just think neither ghost should have to endure or expect a pack of students yelling at them. Don't you?" If he didn't get a mutual agreement with this, well, it was going to be a long day. "I'm not looking for fight, Pauly." Especially when his buddy was looking so tired already.

"Need a refill?" Justin bit into one of his biscuits.

First of all, it had to be noted that Takeru Asakura did not need ANYONES help. He was perfectly fine with taking care of himself like he had been doing for years. Good? Good.

Tugging the thin fabric that he called a jacket Tak quickly made his way down to the groundskeepers hut. Actually, McLeod was more than just a groundskeeper, he was his Head of House. The third yese had never spoke to the man before of course, and he wasn't even sure that McLeod knew his name. But there was a first time for everything. He reached the hut in quicker time than expected, the chilly air finally seemed good for something. Without any hesitation Tak raised his hand and knocked on the door.

He didn't need McLeod's helps

But if the man offered.....

It was quite cold out these days at Hogwarts as Justin loaded up another log into the burning fireplace, doing its job in lighting up and warming up his little home away from home. Was it already half way through the school year? Sure was. He would look forward to enjoying the rare comforts indoors.... right after he got up from his armchair to answer the door.

A visitor, but a snake visitor. A pleasant surprise, also that it was one of the newer students from this term. He briefly recalled something in his papers regarding his transfer. "Master Asakura, what brings you here?" Whether he answered right away or not Justin added, "Come on in, it's much too cold to be standing out here." He had to be a good Papa Snake and make sure his snakes were comfortable.

The grounds keeper probably wasn't in his hut. He was probably out doing grounds keeper things and Tak felt cheated. Turning around he was just about to leave when the door was yanked open.

Really, the third year could only stare up at the man as he spoke. Something about his frame or his tone, it commanded respect. Even if his Head of House did refer to him as master.

Not saying a word he stepped into the hut and his eyes instantly darted all over.

The chap was a little quiet to Justin, not that it was a big deal. It did hint to the Groundskeeper that this could be more than a quick stop as they entered in.

Noticing him take in the sights, "Need a drink?" He offered. Something to ease the kid's guard as Justin fixed himself some hot cocoa. "What brings you in here today?"

If he needed some time to say, he had plenty of to spare.
