Gryffindor House Table

The house-elves have been hard at work, leaving the Great Hall spotless, the tables set with pristine silverware, and delicious smells floating up from the kitchen. Your stomach might be growling, but it isn't quite time to eat yet.

Hopefully the Headmaster will make his speech before you chew your way through your House table.

LilFox06 09-02-2016 12:47 AM

Hai everyone!

Kaycee was excited to meet the new set of kids she could boss around welcome with open arms into Gryffindor. She took a seat in the middle of the table. She then toook a second to make sure that her badge was fastened securely.

Okay. Good. The little ones should be able to tell who was in charge their designated helper.

DaniDiNardo 09-02-2016 01:46 AM

All the good vibes he'd eventually garnered from the train? Gone, properly gone, as in there was probably no getting it back--unless certain circumstances fell into place--because now he was sitting at the Gryffindor table. He was back at Hogwarts. Back to hell. Brilliant.

Blaise barely took a glance around the room and he most certainly didn't look up at the Staff Dais where he would no doubt find new faces and places taken from those who'd made this place bearable. No Airey. No Ichihara. The vivid image of his education being flushed down the toilet filled his mind as he took up a seat.

Who would their new Head of House be? As if it mattered. He didn't want anyone new. No one else would understand. It was....this was.........wow he hated this term so much already. Could he grab his little sister and board the train back to London? It was still down in Hogsmeade, yeah?

Surely the elves hadn't packed away their things as yet and if they did, he'd just get one of the Prefects to give him the password to the Gryffindor Tower so he could collect his things.

The only problem was...y'know....kinda hard to kiss Clara when he was home--but he supposed he'd get over it. Some sacrifices were unavoidable. "Hey Kaycee." It was only belatedly that he realized he was sitting somewhere close to one of the Prefects he might very well end up needing. "Good summer?"

Hai, kaycee!

To be perfectly honest, Olivia had passed out on the train (resting snugly against Rooney), for the remainder of the journey back to school. And it had been a lovely nap, too. The smol blonde child felt INVIGORATED and ENERGIZED! In fact, she was ready to ROCK this feast. GRYFFINDOR STYLE!

Aww, YASS!

Bounding into the hall with a BEAMING smile in place, she practically danced towards her house table, spotting one of her Hoggies dancing idols along the way! A dancing idol, AND her house leader person. Er, Liv still wasn't sure how that worked, but...IT WAS GOOD, yea? It meant that Ms. Kaycee had no choice but to be nice to her. No matter what.

:shifty:

So, Liv attacked her with a BIG hug from behind.

Also, hello, Blaise. Hmph.

Erindipity 09-02-2016 01:56 AM

Hey Kaycee and Blaise

This was it. Start of her FOURTH YEAR. Big stuff. H U G E . Dora didn't bounce, but she did seem to sashay to the table and slip onto the bench a little ways down from the other two already seated. No need to crowd in, after all. Her eyes momentarily slid over to the Ravenclaw table. Interesting. Then to the Slytherin. Echo wasn't there yet. She was intriguing. Heh.

Finally she focused her attention on her housemates and smiled slightly. "Hey guys. Blaise, I hope you healed right. " Was that a touchy subject? She hoped not. She had, after all, been in contact with Bast all summer... heck, her dad even showed up to fetch her when she "ran away" to his house. Why did parents have to be in contact with one another? U G H.

"You all ready for another year at home sweet Hell? "

TeafortheSoul 09-02-2016 02:42 AM

The problem with being a Gryffindor and making an entrance was that half the time it wasn't very noticeable simply because ALL THE GRYFFINDORS made entrances. Or at least the girls did. Probably why Char called so many of them her friends. Buuuut she only had two hands to wave on her approach, so they did double and triple duty. LIV, DORA, BLAISE, PREFECT KAYCEE.

It didn't occur to Charlotte to look up at the staff table, seeing everyone after the summer was FAR more important than worrying about who would be teaching boring things. Now was social time! And then food time!

Her hair bounced as she found a seat in the middle of the table, central to all the things and all the people.

Time for another amazing year!

Steelsheen 09-02-2016 05:51 AM

Its amazing how fast a day-long train trip is when you're in good spirits isnt it? And with Tenacius' case, he was indeed in most excellent mood.

With a bounce in his step he entered the Great Hall and headed for the table under the banner of the Red and Gold. Oh look there be peoples already "Prefect hello. Blaiseh!" the Curly Top greeted his buddy with a clap on the shoulder. And to the rest of the Gryffindors, a Tenacius-ly cheerful wave for you all.

As he plopped himself onto his seat he managed a side glance at the teachers’ table-- and whoah, half of those people he didn’t even recognize. He's still getting used to the new Headmaster himself. Who are these people? Maybe Professor Flamsteed will intro them eh? His Head of House usually does the rounds when they start eating….but then the Astronomy man wasn’t there either-- but eh maybe running late. Yeah that’s usually it.

Magical Soul 09-02-2016 09:38 AM

Genny jumped into the Great Hall, stumbling a little with her too tall robes (because someone miscalculated how tall she'd be this year ahem), and ran to her lions friends. The ride to Hogwarts was so fun thanks to Ace, and her mood was so good because she didn't have to listen to anyone offending Quidditch yet.

"Hey, guys," she smiled at Kaycee, Liv, Dora (who she knew from classes and around the common room) Char and Ace. Then she spotted Blaise. "You're here!" She squeaked surprised. "I thought you weren't coming back here." Or was that the rumor she started after hearing the Howler in the headmaster's office? Err.

Stormdancer 09-02-2016 10:02 AM

Moving into the Great Hall, robes over her train outfit because she was lazy, her heels made soft noises against the flagstone floors. Moving to sit half way up the table, in an area that was still mostly empty- the Welsh girl sat and waited for her boyfriend and her friends to turn up and join her.

Slipping one leg over the other, she looked up at the staff table and went to smile at her favourites... only to blank... and stare.

No Professor Airey.

No Professor Draper.

.............................

Instead, she noted the red gem above Professor Newton's chair... okay - at least she knew him... but a meeting would be needed since she needed to be away from school even more this year for her running.

Moving her eyes down the line of Professors to Professor Draper's old seat... she found a face she didn't know. Great. Just freaking great. She'd have to go and talk to him too... because she didn't want to miss out on her training or her barn time...

Frowning, she turned away from the table upset. Why did neither of them tell her? She thought they liked her. Setting her chin in her hand she tried not to get upset ALREADY.

This was not the way she wanted the term to start.

Weasley174 09-02-2016 10:11 AM

Sorry about my character.

Timmy was looking around the Great Hall, seriously okay so this place was big but great well he wasn't so sure about that. He also had been sorted into some house called Gryffindor, now what was that supposed to mean, all he knew was it was at this table here.

Timmy looked up at the big long table at the end of the hall, now that was a perfect table for him to go and sit at, seriously he would do great up there, now how was he supposed to go about sitting at the cool table, maybe someone would know.

"Hey can some one help me?" Timmy asked as he sat down. "Do you know that cool table." He pointed towards the staff table. "How do I go about sitting there?" Seriously he hoped that someone would point him in the right direction because boy was that table cool.

Jessiqua 09-02-2016 11:29 AM

Art and Madame Curie branched away from the Staff Dais when he saw the Gryffindor table filling up with young Lions. He had twinges of... something at the thought of this, the past few weeks. But it needed to be done. His very aged old Gryffindor Robes were half way up his calf, and his wrists were poking through. He didn't even want to put the hood on, he looked like an elf. But Madame Curie, with her red bow, was feeling marvellous tonight.

He walked over to the table and stood by the head, nearest the Staff Dais.

"Hello everyone," he said, nodding to the familiar faces. "Prefect Richards! All ready for the term?" he asked. "Mr Bellaire! I'm g-glad to be s-seeing you here. Did you have a nice summer?" He had been glad to see him at the Potions Final, of course. And was even happier to see him here. At the Gryffindor table. "Miss Phillips, Miss Umbridge, Miss Kettleburn, Miss Tatem, Miss Hanover," Art said, greeting the Lionesses. "Did you all have a-a... a good s-summer?" he asked.

"Mr Salander, how are you? Good s-summer?" he asked. And there was a new one! "Hello Mr Jones, h-how are you?" he asked the first year.

Art cleared his throat. Madame Curie perched herself on top of Art's head. "I... W-well f-for those n-not a-aware.. I uhh... I was offered the post of Head of House upon Professor Flamsteed's er... l-leaving." Gulp. "I know th-these... this time will be a bi-bit of an adjustment for you all, but I'm uh... I'm very excited to be here to help you all. To work with you all and-and... help make these very good times for you all. Very good times, indeed." He smiled.

Mentions, mentions, MENTIONS!

After snuggling Prefect Kaycee for a time, Liv moved around her to find a seat of her own. Ahem, there would be food shortly, and it was TERRIBLY IMPORTANT that she be sat at the table proper when it appeared. CONSTANT VIGILANCE IN THE NAME OF POTATOES! Also, this easily explained why she'd not taken notice of new faces at the Staff table. Smol blonde simply had too much excitement buzzing around her to note all the adults who'd be trying to cram information into her head soon enough.

... AND THERE WAS CHAR, who was waving enthusiastically as she approached. They'd not spoken for a while, given how busy Liv's summer had suddenly gotten (and Char had probably been super busy, too), but she had loads to update her on. AND SO MANY PHOTOS to share! WADA had been the best time of her life, if not a bit of an eye-opener.

In fact, Olivia found a seat right beside her hometown!bestie, smiling brightly at Char's bouncy blonde hair. It was so voluminous tonight, wow! Was she using a new shampoo? "Hey, you! How was summer?!" That nap had clearly done wonders for the Glitter!Lion's temperament. Sleep was a beautiful thing.

Tossing more affectionate smiles about as other Lions trickled into the hall (mainly towards Marsha, who looked downright depressed), Liv spied Genny Tate ambling (it looked like the struggle was real) towards their table. "Hey, Genny!.....What's wrong with your robes?" She was kinda swimming in them a bit.

Also....."Why would you want to sit up there? It's full of old people." This was directed towards a boy (Harry174), who she'd never laid eyes on before. AND NO OFFENSE to said old people, but....Well, adults were dreadfully boring. Mostly. Unless their names happened to be Professor Myers, who was a total queen in her opinion! "Our table is much better!" RAWR RAWR, GRYFFINDOR!

... And .....there was a stuttering Potion's Master talking at them, and for the first time since entering the Great Hall, Liv felt her spirit dampen just a little. That was right. Flamsteed had moved on from Hogwarts. He'd no longer be around the common room with his pet rock, Pebbles. There would be no more jumping on desks and space puns. What a sad day for the student population. "Professor Newton, you're going to be fabulous, sir." He just needed some encouragement, was all. As well as a spot of tea, but everyone could do with a spot of tea. "We should have a celebratory tea party after we're all settled in." A THEMED ONE. They could wear furry kitten ears and feather boas. It'd be fun times!

Rouilley 09-02-2016 11:52 AM

Normally talkative enough her mother threatened to tape her mouth shut Jill found she couldn't do anything except gape at the students laughing and chatting around her. They seemed so grown up, like they knew what they were doing, like the talking hat, or the floating candles, or the boats that propelled themselves across the water couldn't phase them.

By the time she had worked up the nerve to actually say something and try introducing herself a proper adult walked over and began speaking. She tried to figure out who was who based on who the professor seemed to be looking at as he said them, but was fairly sure she'd forget them all. Maybe people would introduce themselves again, afterwards.

Why the pause before 'leaving'? She couldn't contain her curiosity, and tapped the person she'd sat beside on the arm. "Did something happen to Professor Flam...steed? Last year?" She hoped she'd got the name right

Mell 09-02-2016 11:55 AM

I think she mentioned everyone

Even though she had not managed to find her BFF on the train, Trixie still managed to have a pretty good time. She had made a couple of new friends which was always a good thing but no one could take the place of her Livvy and Gryffindor housemates.

She bounced into the Great Hall, glanced briefly at the staff table before making a beeline for the Gryffindor table. Perhaps if she had of taken a longer look, Trixie would have noticed the new faces sitting up there, not to mention the missing ones. But her mind was not really interested in staff movements right now.

As she made her way down the table, Trixie waved to all her fellow lions. "Hello Prefect Richards." Always good idea to be nice to those in charge. "Hey Dora! Hey Char!" She gave the older girls a smile as she continued on her way and giving Ace's hair a small ruffle as she went by. That boy had the coolest hair. "Yo Blaise, who died?" Surely coming back to school couldn't be THAT bad.

"Have a good summer Tate?" Trixe asked her fellow third year as she finally made it to her destination and taking a seat next to Liv. "Merlin's pants, where have you been? I tried finding you on the train?" Okay admittedly she hadn't actually looked that hard and had gotten distracted at the food trolley but that was beside the point. "I have so much to tell you and I know you have stuff to tell me also." She gave her friend a knowing look. Trixie wanted ALL the details.

It was then she spotted Marsha and a first year and she gave them a quick wave and turned her attention back to Olivia but before she could interrogate her any further Professor Newton was there! "Congratulations Professor, I'm sure you'll be great." The man had big shoes to fill though, following up after Airey Flamsteed. Of course she wouldn't say that out loud though.

Staking claim on the cousin but hi everybody else

Another year and another opportunity for taking beautiful pictures. Were there any other good reasons to be back here? He didn't think so. It was better now though because he had lots more family attending. Julie was a first year now and Heath was a second year and he and Blaise were here together. That made it good right?

He had been worried that he'd have to do this alone but Aunt Grace and Uncle Erik pulled through for him. Good looking out fam.

He squeezed his way next to Blaise, pushing whomever was sitting next to him over.

"Blaise, way to walk ahead and leave me. So nice of you." Blaise got the fakest of smiles before Ben cast a quick look at the surrounding students.

"Hi guys." That was for everyone...and back to Blaise. "I just had to threaten Heath to make friends with actual students and not the bloody house elves. He cannot keep going like this."

Erindipity 09-02-2016 12:49 PM

Most everyone... but we gotta go

Dora's eyes fell on Charlotte as she came in... her hair bounced. Interesting. Probably charmed shampoo or some silliness. She gave her a small wave and gave a smile to everyone else who greeted her and ignored the loud ones and the ones who were rude. Hah.

But... Newton? HE was new Head of House... um. Wow. He was so OLD. Professor Spaceman was gone. The fourth year could LITERALLY feel her heart breaking as the Potions professor spoke. Casting a glance to the staff table her spirits fell even more. From the looks of things they had lost half of the staff over the summer. Like there were six new faces? Six and Marion, the ghost, occupying Spaceman's seat? Nope. So much nope. Change was not making her feel at home.

Looking back to the Professor with a sad face she rose from her seat and turned without a word. She needed to go find someone. Now. This very moment. At another table. A grimace crossed her face and she spun back around. She wasn't meaning to be rude. "Congrat...ulations, Professor. And good luck. " There were SOME horrible kids in their house. The mega old dude had his work cut out for him. She would definitelyvisit him later... but for now she had to seek out a hug. Pronto.

And with that she turned back and rushed toward the Ravenclaw table in search of her best friend.

Kolyander 09-02-2016 03:08 PM

Everyone/ Professor Newton

The Gryffindor table was her last stop before returning to her own table once more. Pushing some long hair from her face Hady smiled warmly at all those already sitting there. "Evening everyone!," she greeted giving all those she already knew a wave and those she didn't a friendly smile.

Spotting Professor Newton she kept her smile. "Hello Professor, Madame Curie, I hope you had a nice summer." At some point she would be stopping by his office to show him her animagi form just as promised. She hadn't at all forgotten how interested he had been in her training over the last few terms and right now she was very happy that she would at least be able to show him. One familiar person was a good thing right now.

When a blonde stood up and left the table Hady couldn't help but notice who. Dora. The girl looked as if something were wrong but not knowing her well she couldn't be sure. Maybe it had to do with her summer, the feast or the staff changes. It could be any number of things but being who she was she would keep an eye on her and possibly talk to her if she noticed her not acting as her usual self soon. For the moment she wouldn't say anything.

Now where was the Head Boy, she wanted to say hi to him. Again.

SweetPeea 09-02-2016 08:17 PM

We see you Blaise & Bentley!

The redhead made her way into the Great Hall trying not look like she was thinking about a lot of things right now, because she wasn't so don't bother asking her because she won't tell you! And maybe she might've been with Blaise Bellaire in a compartment on the train with his arm around her, but that's besides the point, also it was her business as well, so....there.

Anyways.

Yes, here she was back at Hogwarts wearing these robes once again. Yes, she aware that she wasn't traveling with her Father instead, no need to remind her or rub it in, otherwise she'd smack you for being a jerk! She let out a dramatic sigh before making her way towards her Housemates' table & that was when she had caught sight of Blaise then.....ughhhhh....Bentley Moore.

Insert Clara's eye roll.

Steelsheen 09-02-2016 08:30 PM

we will get you later Had-Gurl xD

Ey Genny made it to the feast, and it looked like she was wearing some uppeclassman's robes. Tenacius chuckled at that as he waved the sheepquestrian hello as she joined them.

And then he felt it. His hair. He turned sharply just in time to see Trixie breeze by. "Trix!" he called out after her, kinda woefully, mostly jokingly. What is it about people wanting to touch curly hair eh? Its a miracle their fingers dont get caught and end up being yanked backwards. Bear traps got nuthin on curly entanglements.

Oh and here comes Professor Newton-- wait he was a Gryffindor? Tenacius looked at the Potions Master's old robes and was quite amused. Not just because it looked comical, but that the man was a Lion boy too once upon a time. Oh and he was asked about his summer "It was AWESOME Professah N!" the Gryffindor Ace replied enthusiastically "Lots and lots of cool stuff happened!" which he would gladly tell him about if he was allowed to prattle away.

But then the Potions man dropped the A-bomb. Tenacius couldnt believe it. Given the newly discovered Gryffindorian nature of the elder man, the Curly Top was waiting for him to suddenly break out laughing and saying it was all a joke, then Flamsteed would pop up from under those faded robes and start dancing on the table. But.... no laughter from the Potions man, no dancing AstroNut.

Instead Newton carried on and tried to reassure them of the future, which as of this time is a bit hard for this young one to wrap his mind around. Flamsteed was practically synonymous to Gryffindor, part of the pillars that held up the house Godric built. It was just hard to believe that he was gone. Gone and didnt even say goodbye.

Maybe it was for the best the AstroNut wasnt there right now. Ace might've leaped over the table and tackle-growled him to the ground.

BUT, now they have a new Head of House. And who better than Grand Master Iron Chef Newton eh? Yeah ok, theres a lot of emotions to process right now, many of which Ace doesnt usually deal with. But with a kindly old smile like that, it sure helped dissipate the upset a bit. And he did want to make the Potions Master feel welcomed, this all cant be any easier on him either, so to that smile, Ace shook himself off his funk enough to give him an approving thumbs up.

DaniDiNardo 09-02-2016 10:16 PM

Poke me if I missed you

It didn't take long for the table to start filling up, not at all and the Fourth Year soon found himself surrounded by the familiar faces of his housemates....and a few new ones. The newly sorted....which reminded him, he needed to keep an eye open for his sister. She'd be sorted any minute now. So long as she didn't end up a Ravenclaw, all would be good.

Seeing Liv attack their Prefect like that might have brought questions to the average person but he knew Olivia Phillips very well and knew she was one for the dramatics. He waved over at her, offering a smile too before his attention was drawn by Dora asking about something healing well...? Huh...? Did she mean his wrist? His brows crinkled at her question, obviously confused by how she'd know such a thing but he did offer a response...albeit a little tentatively. "Uh...yeah..." He rubbed absentmindedly at his wrist, just remembering that horrible day. "Char's mum fixed it so it's good as new. You'd never know it was broken." Unfortunately, before he could even ask HOW she knew, she was already getting up to leave....? Right then........he supposed he'd see her later...

Speaking of, there was Char now, bouncy and happy as was to be expected. He'd been proper cross at her by the start of summer but with so much time to cool off and so many other things that had happened, he couldn't say the same for now. Somehow, June just didn't seem like that big a deal anymore. "I see you got that tan you were hoping for." The one he hadn't stuck around to see. Nope. There was no staying on that vacation.

The clap on his shoulder drew his attention next to Tenacious who'd offered him a greeting in the form of a clap to the shoulder as he passed. Blaise twisted in his seat to watch him go by. "Hey bud, I see you didn't lose the chipper spirit over the summer." And why should he? As far as the Gryffindor was concerned, he was the only one who loathed coming back here--Daxton too.

The You're here! was what had him turning in his seat once more and it took him a moment to locate Genny sitting a few seats down from him. Back? Him? Oh yeah. "My parents had a proper sit down with the Headmaster, they worked stuff out so I never have to attend Charms now and I think they must have liked everything he said because here I am." The last bit he spoke with little to no enthusiasm. It was plain the boy was not thrilled by the prospect of being back. Was he ever?

Also, what was with the Firstie (Timmy) asking about the staff table? Cool table? Up there? Who put something in his pumpkin juice? The boy leaned forward a bit, nodding in gesture towards Liv. "She's right. Nothing tremendously interesting up there, just adults." Why...would he even think that made it 'cool'? What even was this kid...?

"I did." Came his response when Trixie made her inquiry. "I did the moment I sat on the Hogwarts express, then I came back because the train ride didn't turn out as bad as it could have but now I've sat here, and I've gotten a glimpse of the staff table," And the Potions Professor making his way over which caused his heart to flutter unpleasantly with dread, "and now I've died again. Promise me I'll have an epic funeral."

Finally, his cousin joined him at the table. It bloody took him long enough. "You should have tried keeping up. I wasn't walking all that fast. Would have helped if you weren't so hard to find. Where were you anyway?" He'd gone off to get candy for Julie, ran into Clara instead and by the time he got back to the cabin, his cousin was proper gone without a trace and Phillip didn't seem to know where he'd disappeared to. "But I'm glad you set him straight. Elves are great and all but....people. People are the goal. Did it seem like he took it seriously? We won't have to drag him around, will we?" Not that he MINDED his little cousin, because family and all but...Heath was...a special one.

All his dread materialized as a knot in his throat when Professor Newton came to a stop at the Gryffindor table. He hadn't continued walking like he'd hoped. This...this was actually ....happening.....and he didn't know what to think of it. "My summer was alright, Professor." The boy replied flatly, trying his hardest mask the disappointment, hurt and frustration he felt in the moment. This...became harder however as the man made it official. He was the Head of House. Professor Airey was gone. The man who'd taken the time to understand him...he....was gone....and they had Newton and he was, again, ready to go home. It was nothing personal, just.....he couldn't. He couldn't even LESS when that First Year (Jill) who OBVIOUSLY KNEW NOTHING, asked about Airey. It made him uncharacteristically angry and bitter....oh so bitter. "He left because he's done dealing with this stupid place and all the rubbish it comes with."

Blaise averted his gaze, trying to delay any acceptance. A distraction would have been nice, anything really. That's when he saw Clara make her way to the table. At first it looked like she might have been heading toward him--he even nudged the kid next to him to make room--but then...she stopped and there was....eyerolling? Unsure what might have stopped her, the boy patted the space he'd made for her, gesturing her over.

Roselyn 09-02-2016 11:59 PM

For once, he lagged behind the group while making his way to the Great Hall. Celebrating wasn't exactly a priority at the moment and he would've rather just went straight to the dormitories. Although, taking the first available seat he found closest to the door wasn't exactly the best move now that he looked around. Not when he saw no one he knew and the closest person he'd have wanted to be next to was more towards the middle of the table.

He stood halfway up from the bench before hearing the Professor announce his new position as the Head of House. Oh look, MORE PEOPLE LEAVING HIM. Quickly taking large strides towards the middle of the table, thankful for that growth spurt he had, he sat down next to Marsha in a grumpy and depressed heap.

She was about to head over to the Ravenclaw Table deciding that she wasn't going to go towards Blaise because she didn't want to be around his cousin, until she looked to see him & saw him gesturing her over to sit beside him. Clara crossed her arms not moving right away & was about to turn the opposite direction but stopped herself not doing that either.

Getting frustrated with herself, the redhead let out an exasperated noise before finally moving in Blaise's direction quickly. Finally reaching him a few moments later, the redhead plopped herself right beside him in the space he had made for her.

Nearly Headless Nick 09-03-2016 01:05 AM

Sir Nicholas knew that it was that festive time of year again. Food... ahh, but alas, he had not eaten for going on 500 years. He made his appearance up through the middle of the table, whilst announcing "WELCOME BACK GRYFFINDORS!" At the top of his ghostly lungs.

SPOILER!!: Jill

By the time she had worked up the nerve to actually say something and try introducing herself a proper adult walked over and began speaking. She tried to figure out who was who based on who the professor seemed to be looking at as he said them, but was fairly sure she'd forget them all. Maybe people would introduce themselves again, afterwards.

Why the pause before 'leaving'? She couldn't contain her curiosity, and tapped the person she'd sat beside on the arm. "Did something happen to Professor Flam...steed? Last year?" She hoped she'd got the name right

Right in front of a first year Gryffindor appeared Nick's head. Nick smiled at the first year. "Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington at your service. Resident ghost of Gryffindor Tower. Welcome to the fine house of Gryffindor," he said in introduction.

Nick's head was held high by the large ruffle he had chosen for the night. He levitated himself out of the table and made his way around to say hello to everyone. "Welcome back! Good evening! Good summer I trust?" he asked along the way.

"Professor Newton, fine welcoming to the Head of Gryffindor House, Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington at your service," he repeated.

Nick floated up to Blaise, "Delightful to see you here, Blaise."

Blaise. Clara and errm...Nick

Bentley rolled his eyes at Blaise. Excuses, excuses. Blaise disappeared first and then he had to go help Heath with something, then a Chloe happened. When he finally made it back to his compartment, Blaise was gone so he went to sit with Mel for a bit...well for the rest of the train ride really.

"So it didn't occur to you to just wait by our usual spot for me?" He wasn't going to argue with him about this though. Blaise was wrong and Bentley was right...in his mind.

"I don't know if he took it seriously but I'm this close to giving up on him. I'll just have to accept him for the weirdo that he is."

Speaking of weirdos...

Bentley made a face at Clara when she rolled her eyes at him. He still couldn't wrap his mind around this Blaise and Clara thing. One minute they hated each other and the next minute they were snogging. Ugh!

"The soul sucker approaches.." Bentley whispered to Blaise who was-----making space for her? Uggggh!!!

"Seriously?" He asked out loud as she sat on the other side of Blaise.

And then Nick arrived...umm..."You two are friends now?" he asked Blaise as he looked through Sir Nick.

"Wait? What for? Chances are you were with Mel and you already know how I feel about that." He offered a pointed look, in case his cousin might have forgotten what he'd said when they went out for ice-cream that time over the summer. He'd meant it. He still thought this was a dumb idea and he didn't want to watch. "If not her, you might have run into Chloe, then I'd be even less inclined to wait around. Nothing personal." He still loved his cousin but Circe, some things were just a no.

Blaise shook his head as Bentley went on to explain the dilemma he was having with Heath. "Hate to say it, but accepting might be the way to go. Maybe...when he gets a little older, he'll at least have a chance." Right now Heath was 12....and little.....and....you know, naive but there was still plenty of time for him to grow.

Hopefully.

More to the point, why was Clara just standing there? Didn't she want to come sit with him? He'd already shoved that Gryffindor over so she could fit. The smallest of smiles spread across his face at her exasperation turned surrender. The smile was growing in spite of itself as she drew closer but it suddenly dipped at Bentley's next comment. Soul sucker? Tell him Clara hadn't heard that. Blaise gave him a jab to the side with his elbow. Not a hard one but one to be taken note of. "Yes seriously, and she's not a soul sucker." So they were clear on that--BEFORE Clara could give any response.

Just as his arm slipped loosely around Clara's waist at the table, they were joined by their house's ghost. "Good evening, Sir Nicholas." He found he was able to find a smile for the ghost, despite everything. Clara might have helped with that. "Can't say I'm happy to be back, but I am glad to see you again." Brown eyes shifted back to his cousin. "Who are friends? Me and Sir Nick or me and Clara?"
