On a rather wet mid-April morning, you find yourself walking towards the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom. As per Hirsch's style, the classroom has been transformed to suit the theme of the lesson of the day. There were no chairs, no desks and frankly, nowhere to work properly.
Instead, as soon as you walk in, you're met with the sight of what appears to be a target practice range lining the left hand side of the wall. Transparent barriers separate one target from another, only making itself known by the fuzzy view it leaves as you look beyond the barrier. While you can have a look around at the targets, the protective shields are there for a reason so trying to walk directly through them is useless, if not stupid.
Walk towards your right and around the barriers and you'll see an array of mats and cushions to seat the student body. Professor Hirsch himself can be found near the mats, leaning against a wall and looking rather cool, calm and collected, as per usual. By his feet sit three boxes: one filled with dragon-hide gloves, one with other protective clothing and another filled with some bows and arrows.
So come in, grab a seat and take a peek at the items, if your curiosity gets the better of you. Class will begin shortly.
OOC: Please make sure you're familiar with Hirsch's rules as well as the SS site rules before posting. Class will continue in a little over 24 hours time (Wednesday 16th November at roughly 8pm GMT). Class has begun but you're more than welcome to jump in. Just pretend as though your charrie has been there the entire time. Hope you have fun! ^^

See, THIS WAS WHY SHE LOVED DEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS. Professor Hirsch, aka Prince Erik, was an absolute star when it came to physical activities in his lessons. They were always so challenging, innovative, and just the right amount of dangerous. Right up the blonde Gryffindor's alley, to be honest. And thanks to Dueling Club, she had more than a firm handle on the fire-making spell. She had, after all, nearly set Katherine Moss on fire in her first year. Oops, no hard feelings, of course.
Bouncing her way into the middle of the fray, LIKE a BOSS, Olivia readied her wand. Flaming arrows were flying, as well as Incendio! spells. It was proper chaos and bless it, she felt soothed by the madness. Unlike other times where she might've been overwhelmed by so much commotion going on around her. This was FUN commotion! So, aiming her wand towards one of the bright blue dummies, Liv whipped around, shouting "Incendio!" Luckily for her, she was close enough to said dummy that her spell didn't have much space to go wide and miss the target, so it connected right into the animated dummy's chest. SCORE, MONKEY! SCOOOOORE!
EEP!

She groaned, because that was literally all she could do at the moment other than move her eyeballs. Of course she had to be frozen in an awkward pose too. She was in a half crouch, with her bow and arrow at the ready at her side.
Now all she could do was wait, and hope that someone would notice she was frozen.
THERE WAS A HUFFLEPUFF IN NEED. NO PUFFER LEFT BEHIND....
Dancing closer to the Hufflepuff Prefect, Liv pointed her wand towards her fellow blonde, shouting "Finite!" Luckily, that was yet another spell that required little to no thought. THANKS, DUELING CLUB.

The blonde had already spun back around to Henry as soon as her spell had hit the dummy that had been advancing on Paige. YAS! Another one bit the dust! Hehe.
A grin had stretched her face as he congratulated her on her spell work... but that was short lived seeing as he yelled out like that. Standing still she let him reach around her and cast. Hehehe. And now that she was sure she was safe, she spun and raised her wand to "finish it off". "Incendio Duo!" she shouted once again, wand aimed at the chest of the dummy.
AND ANOTHER HIT!
The blonde bounced in place and let out a WHOOOP! Fist pumping in the air... her non wand hand, that is. Hehe. "You're really good, too, Henry!"
Dynamic Duo for the win?! One PYROMANIAC paired with a boy with good aim? Surely they would WIN!
Henry watched as Dora turned to finish off the dummy. "Awesome!" He grinned at her and gave a fist pump too. Nice teamwork they had there. They'd take down all the dummies in no time.
"Thanks, Dora! I like that extra-strength fire spell you're using." Henry was pretty good at basic spells and some intermediate ones, and he was starting to work on some of the more advanced spells. He could do some of the duo spells, but Incendio wasn't one that he specifically worked on for that purpose. But what better time than a class specifically designed for it?
And there wasn't much time for talking anyway, because one particular dummy was getting closer. Close enough where he was going to get tagged if he didn't act fast. "Incendio duo!" he shouted at the dummy as he pointed his wand at its chest. Whoa.

"Heads up, Paige!" the Gryffindor called out before raising her wand and casting another line of flames in the direction of the dummy coming at her friend. And yes, she was careful not to cast toward the PERSON. She would never endanger another person. NEVER.

But a movement behind her snapped her out of that and she shook her head and moved quickly to the left to avoid the incoming dummy.
She only stumbled a little bit mind you and managed to keep herself upright. The action had her adrenaline pumping though and she felt her heart pounding near violently in her chest.
The fourteen year old took a bit of a breather as she looked around the room seeing if anyone needed her help and Ohhh!
Paige!!
Azura raced carefully over to the older Hufflepuff and cast "Finite. " On the older girl.
"Are you okay Paige? " She asked with concern as she looked up at the 7th year
Paige wasn't even sure from which direction the draugr had come initially, but she DID know that one had just gone up in flames right before her bright blue eyes and she had a certain Gryffindor to thank for that. "Well played, Dora!" the seventh year chirped, her limbs apparently able to move now which meant that the draugr that had frozen her in the first place had been defeated. Talk about two fwoopers with one stone - as much as Paige loathed that expression.
In the next instant she almost felt bad that Azura had wasted precious seconds on her casting Finite when, well, she was already alright. "I'm fine," she nodded reassuringly. Just rubbish at maintaining focus in these kinds of multilayered situations. Why she was likely not to be a healer assigned out on the field but rather within the confines of her own office. Eventually at least.
"EEEK! InCENdiOO!" she squeaked loudly, spotting an approaching draugr coming up behind the Ravenclaw. Pronunciation all over the place once again, nerves getting to her still, her spell veered slightly off target and only managed to blow the dummy's leg off...which made for a somewhat horrifying sight as it continued to crawl its way towards them and left its smouldering leg behind.

Dora grinned as Henry fist pumped along with her. Yas. They were WINNING. She did stop to wonder if the others realized how IMPORTANT it was for she and Henry to win? Because she was about to make sure that they were the last two standing.
"I have only cast the tria spell once, but it was AWESOME!" Again, she did a lot of practice and tutoring with her Uncle as well as independent studies. She had always had a penchant for fire... something she had been told had been passed down from her mother. It was in her blood, in her wand, and in her many hours of study that she was able to cast something so powerful. "I could help you if you want!"
And with that she caught a glimpse of another dummy coming at her from the corner of her eye. Spinning, she held her wand out in front of her and yelled out, "Confringo!" Quickly followed by, "Incendio DUO!" Oh MAN. The Gryffindor actually stood there watching as the dummy was incinerated. THAT was the coolest thing she had ever seen.
BAM!
Her attention was only drawn back to Henry as he cast the duo spell and sent heavy duty flames at his dummy. YAS HENRY YAS!
OH THERE WAS A PAIGE!

Her older friend got a GRIN in response, but she quickly furrowed her brow as she heard her speak the incantation... "EN SIN DEE OH"
ANd with that she was spinning back to rush to Henry's side. Time to take out the rest of the dummies in the classroom! CLearly they were the EXTERMINATORS!

Oh thank goodness! Paige was all right! Azura let out a sigh of relief as she started to move almost before she even got there with her spell. The Ravenclaw was fully focused on the Older Hufflepuff, therefore she didn't really noticed the dummy coming up behind them.
Paige did though, thankfully.
And with an oddly worded spell, Paige had.. well at least given her time to turn around..
To see a dummy crawling towards them dragging its smoldering leg behind it.. Dear Sweet Fwoopers that was an awful sight. Azura actually backed up a bit in terror before shaking herself out of it..
"Incendio!" She called out as she waved her wand at the dummy.
Fwoooppersssss.. her spell hit and stopped its forward moovement..
"Thanks Paige. " The purple eyed girl said with a warm smile.

Juno watched as not only Kitty, but she thought the girls name was Liv, both came to her aid at exactly the same time. She unfroze as soon as both spells struck her. "OH, THANK GOODNESS!" She shook her body out. Being frozen like that could really get frustrating.
"Thank you both so much! I don't know wha-----WATCH OUT!" She quickly lit and shot an arrow at a dummy!Draugr that was coming up behind them. The arrow blew a hole right through the dummy, and it dropped to the ground.
Good thing she knew what she was doing.

The best part about this activity? He could sit back and watch the chaos unfold. Sure, Hirsch was on call if anything drastic happened but as it was, he was having far too much fun watching this. It was the drive and the upsurge in activity, as if he was watching an intense group duel take place.
Was he worried? Not entirely. It wasn't as if Hirsch hadn't taken certain safety precautions for this task. The last thing he needed was another furious parent marching into the school and demanding answers.
Soon enough, something registered in his brain and he glanced down at his watch, only to find that not only was the time up, but they were less than two minutes away from the bell ringing. He placed his index finger and his thumb in his mouth and let out a loud whistle to get everyone's attention.
"Excellent! Really excellent work, everyone. I hope this task has helped you to aim more precisely as well as aiming or casting spells at a moving target." Both were very important. Transferable skills, you know. "Unfortunately, that's all we have for today. Thank you all for coming. Enjoy the rest of your day!"
And now he had some smouldering, limbless dummies to deal with.
OOC: EEEEEEE LOOK AT YOU GUYS GO I'm so proud! Thank you so much for coming! It really means a lot to me.
Feel free to post your charrie leaving, if you want to. I'll leave his thread open until the end of the day, GMT wise ^^
Dora still had her wand out at the ready! She was ready to set fire to EVERYTHING in her path today, okay!?
SIGHS.
Hearing the man, she lowered said wand and tucked it back safely away in the holster on her arm. Men. They never seemed ready to let Dora and Company lay WASTE to things.
BLEH.
With some words of departure to the others, Dora grabbed up her bag an started toward the exit. "Thanks... sir. That was... fun." THAT WAS ALL SHE WOULD SAY! Bam.

Good thing she knew what she was doing.
Olivia had missed Kitty Valentine being right there, as well, but it was all good. Ms. Juno had been saved and she felt like a proper hero for just a moment. Gotta admit, it was a pretty awesome feeling.
...But then....Juno was aiming an arrow at her... and Liv's eyes went wide. THAT WAS NOT HOW YOU THANKED SOMEONE, MS. JUNO!.... Of course, the Hufflepuff was not aiming at her, but rather just behind her and Olivia's head whipped around when the flaming arrow whizzed past.
BLINK.
Holy moly!
She'd just been about to say something else when Professor Hirsch stepped forward and called time. Man, that had been SUPER fun, and was kinda encouraging the Gryffindor to seek out an instructor for archery lessons. BUT WE DIGRESS.
"Thank you for the lesson, sir." And with that, she was packed up and goooone.

Juno grimaced. She was having so much fun! This had been an awesome lesson! DADA was her favorite subject...so maybe she was a little biased. She sighed and picked up all her arrows. She then walked over towards the boxes to take off her protective gear and return the bow and arrows.
Once she had collected her book bag, she went over to the professor, "Thank you so much sir for the awesome lesson! It was so much fun!! See you later!" She smiled and waved and walked towards the door. She really wished she could have kept going.

"It was an interesting lesson professor, thanks." Kitty smiled at Professor Hirsch as she pocketed her wand and lined up to leave the classroom. It really was, she was even going to write to her mom about it. The theory about fire and ice was her favorite part. but watching her braver classmates tackle the dummies and even helping one was also fun.
