| | The Weasley Swamp
The legendary portable swamp created by Fred and George Weasley was once large enough to consume the entire middle section of the first floor corridor, leading from the Dark Arts office to the History of Magic classroom. Nowadays, only a small section of the corridor is roped off in tribute of the redhead twins' swamp, but it is a historic section nonetheless.
The remaining swamp still SMELLS like authentic swamp, LOOKS like authentic swamp, BUBBLES like authentic swamp, and will suck you in like an authentic swamp, if you so wish to step in it. Avoid the swamp with care is the best advice you should heed while on the first floor, especially if you're running late to class.

| Made of Awesome | Ern-la the Best-wa | TZ's Apogee The swamp on the first floor smelled... terrible. The worst. It was literally the dirtiest and stinkiest place at Hogwarts, and Dot usually avoided it like dragon pox. But you know... it was seventh year, and she was running out of time to visit it.
It was going to be a very short visit, though, because the SMELL. Ugh, dear Merlin's ugly shoes, the smell. She stuffed her hands deep into her pockets to keep them clean, and Dot inched a little closer to the actual swamp.
So gross. Damage done.

So gross. Damage done. How Katerina found her way to the swamp today was beyond her. It certainly wasn't the smell that directed her this way. She had met Dante here last term. She wondered if he still remembered that she owed him a favor. With her luck he probably did. Ugh Fun fun, maybe she could just get it over with
But now here she was again, with the pretty red haired Slytherin prefect. She stopped just short of standing right beside her. "Hey, Dot." She smiled and waved. Yes she knew the seventh year, not personally, just by name. "What are you doing here? Did you drop something in the swamp?"
Was she asking too many questions? Being a annoying younger kid?

Was she asking too many questions? Being a annoying younger kid? There was a cutie little ickle... or a stench hallucination... and Dot felt bad because she wasn't sure she actually knew the girl's name. They'd met? Or had they met? The smell was starting to make her really actually lose her mind.
Or actually... what if the girl wasn't real? What if she was like, Dot's conscience telling her to give up dance and devote her life to Healing, like Paige?
"Hey..." Her smile flickered. "I'm just looking. It smells awful, and I wondered about cleaning charms." What do you think about that, imaginary friend?

Wow, the smell was awful. It was worse than she remembered from last time she was here. Not that she visited often. Why anyone stick around here.
Cleaning spells? Was there an air freshener spell? "Would that work with how awful this is?" Katerina wasn't sure. She looked between the prefect and the swamp. Took a big sniff. eww bad idea. Gag. Cough cough. "Anything is worth a try, though." Better than this stinky mess. At the very least, it would clean up the random trash and junk that was floating around in it, right? Cleaning spells were great. Or at least her mum said so.

And if there wasn't a point to the stench, then why were they still standing so close to it?
Dot scooted back several big steps and blasted the air in front of them with a gentle wind charm. Not much better, but certainly a help. "It probably wouldn't do any good. Smart people from the Ministry, tons of professors, the Board... I'm sure lots of people have tried to fix this. Or at least fix the smell."
Did that mean they shouldn't try?
...
Actually, yeah.
"We should just find somewhere less stinky."

What wasn't floating around in the swamp? It was even gross to look at. She looked away and back at the older girl. Watching her as she took a few BIG steps back. Oh that wasn't a good idea, yeah? Eww. Cough, cough. She wasn't far enough back away from it apparently.
Watching the seventh year again, do magic. Some kind of wind charm. Ohhhh cool. She'd have to ask her about that one later. Might be useful in a duel sometime, yeah? Mmmm she nodded silently, "It's a hopeless cause, then." She had a point. All of these older smarter people couldn't rid or figure out how to rid the smell. They probably couldn't either.
Kat resisted the urge of saying a snobby anywhere would smell better than here. Even the old smelly boys bathroom. "Let's get out of this stinking place." She grinned, a seventh year wanted to hang out with her. Cool so cool. Where to pretty lady?

Merlin knew that people needed a goal, even one where the outcome was unlikely. What if this little sprog could actually figure out a way to clean up the swamp, and Dot had just discouraged her from even trying? Worst prefect ever.
She did let herself be talked into moving down to the turn in the corridor, where it wasn't stinky at all. "Maybe hopeless is the wrong word. It's difficult and not something I'm going to spend my time on, but if you want to work at it, maybe there's a solution everyone else is missing. Dunno." She shoved her hands into her pockets and shrugged her shoulders up and down. "What's your name?"

She shoved her hands into her pockets and shrugged her shoulders up and down. "What's your name?" Kat followed her down the corridor. She nodded, the seventh year did have a point, Hopeless was the wrong word. She shouldn't have used it. That was bad wording on her part. "Nothing is impossible." That's what she had told Cornelius the other day. Kat firmly believed that . She didn't know why she was being such a downer. It must have been the stench clogging her brain cells. "We'll I've got five, basically six years to work on a solution to that stink." She said holding her nose and waving the air.
The smell was gone now just that small stretch of corridor was the only place that made your stomach turn. Oh so maybe Dot didn't know who she was since she had asked her what her name was. "Katerina.... Kat. Call me Kat. If you'd like." She liked Kat better then Katerina. Not that it mattered, Some people called her Kat or Katy Kat or Katy or they went as far as calling her Katerina. It didn't matter to her.

| For anyone! Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent Ansley had some time between classes and was in the mood for something a little more substantial than the organic crisps he kept in his office for snacking. Headed down the first floor corridor intending on going to the Great Hall, the History of Magic professor glanced up ahead at the Weasley Swamp. Of course, it had been there long before even he was a student here and working on the first floor he felt he got somewhat used to its appearance. And its smell. Sensory deprivation, he supposed. He just hoped the aroma hadn't wafted down to his classroom and he just didn't notice because of that.
He caught a movement out of the corner of his eye as he walked past and he stopped to turn that way. That wasn't a student crawling back in there, was it? Some of these kids, he wouldn't be surprised really, but as he peered closer he could see that it was a large cat exploring through the marshy plant life. Okay then.
He'd have let the cat be a curious thing and be on his way if it weren't for the plaintive mewing that followed. Was the poor kitty stuck? That'd be his luck. "Come on, kitty," he called. "That's no place for you to be.." And when the coaxing only increased the pathetic sounding cries for help, he decided against his best interest to wade into the swamp after it. Once he cast impervious to his shoes and clothing of course.

Once he cast impervious to his shoes and clothing of course. Torrance had not been this way too often, considering it was always mostly out of his way unless he was headed to class on this floor. None-The-Less the young lion was down here. For reasons unknown to even him at the moment too. Perhaps he just felt the need to explore the Castle. Maybe today he felt like Bugging his cousin Benton if he found him in the Kitchen.
Of course this was on put on Halt when he came across the Weasley's Swamp. He stood and peered out at the swamp always at awe from it. That's when he heard a Cat, and then a man....wait was that Mister Professor History of Magic Guy?
Torrance edged closer to the swamp and stopped just short of the beginning of it. He wanted to see if the Man was gone to go find the source of the Cat's Meow.
Not wanting to distract him, the Charms Professor's nephew took off his school robe, shoes, and socks. Rolled up his pant legs, then removed his tie. Tossing them all to the side and away the bog. He readied himself to jump. Not to far from the start was a log. If he could make that in a leap he wouldn't get too messy...yet.
He took a few steps back then ran. Making a running jump for the log and missed it, actually leaping over the log and making a loud SPLASH into the Swampy Waters.

Having just enjoyed a late lunch in the Great Hall, Tiara was now on her way back to the second floor for some lesson preparation. But when she was about to mount the next flight of stairs, she heard a strange noise. Was that... did someone just jump into the swamp?
Reversing course, she headed in that direction. She broke into a jog when she heard something that resembled painful whimpering. When she finally got near, she relaxed a bit because it became clear it was an animal and not a human.
"Uh, anyone need assistance?"
Because student. And professor. And cat. Because Hogwarts.

| Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent Ansley knew this was a bad idea from the start, a fact that he was even more aware of as the apparently-spooked cat darted away from him as he got closer. He was now thigh deep in the murky waters with his wand out when a sudden loud splash startled him, causing him to turn, nearly losing his balance and dropping his wand in the process.
He was already really spooked being in here, okay?! He had a healthy fear of snakes was all and they were likely to be lurking in here. But it was nothing like that, just a student who probably didn't need to follow his example. "Torrance, what are you doing?" As far as he knew, students probably played in here all the time, especially the younger ones. Of course it was never his thing, but he could see a precocious lad like Torrance thinking the swamp was an appropriate playground. "You really shouldn't be in here.." He looked around for his wand, finding it just below the surface of the murky waters. Gross. Hopefully it still worked. He turned back to the Gryffindor, trying to wade his way, only to find that his legs were, well.. stuck. This was not good.
Ansley craned his neck to look behind him as he heard a voice, this one coming from an adult. Tiara. "Uh.. maybe?" He didn't really want to admit to a colleague that he had gotten himself stuck out here, and he tried to pull his leg out only to find it sinking more. Maybe she could help coax Torrance out. This probably wasn't the best place for either of them to be.

Hogwarts RPG Name: The Narrator | follow me; everything is all right.
There's a very good reason for that stuck and sinking feeling once someone steps foot into the swamp. It seems the swamp has been filled with quicksand, slowly holding fast to legs and limbs before slowly pulling them down under.
How will the professor and student get out of this predicament? Best not to fight against it too much. The more you struggle, the faster it will pull you down.

| *GIF of angry Baby waving Fist Goes here for Narrator* Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right. Except...there was no loud splash. It was more of a SwuuwthhhmppckPf Or whatever it is the sound is when one just goes a little over waist deep into the Bog and it's just gross watery mud. It was enough of a attention grabber too. Mister Professor Finch knew he was here.
Torrance shook his head in protest. "It's not like I haven't been this way before." The Second Year Student lied. He really hadn't been this way before. He had gotten whiffs of the stench, and had been curious, but never acted on that curiosity until now. Especially when there was Cat who shouldn't be in here, just as much as him. "I wanted to find the Cat."
Was anyone getting a sinking Feeling? Torrance turned, and it was a hard turn. Like, he barely turned at all maybe his waist, but nope. He then attempted to wade through the murky swamp, but nope. In fact he felt like he was going deeper. He heard the voice of the Lady Flying and Number Professor Tanner next asking if they needed assistance. YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU! "Professors." The Lion spoke with some Growing worry in his voice. "I can't move I can't move! I'm stuck I'M SINKING!" He struggled to pull his wand hand free of the swamp but could not budge. In fact every budge sunk him deeper and he was already more than waist deep into the Bog. BLASTED BEING SO DAMN SHORT, and what an inappropriate time to have his wand in his Wrist Holster!
He found that he was close enough that his free hand could hold onto the Log he overshot, but that was about it, and the Log was sinking now too with his added weight holding onto it.

" Alright, let me think a moment." Removing her wand from its holster, she took stock of the situation. Frankly, if the cat found its way in there, it could find its way out again, and easier than a heavier human could. It was the gentlemen she was concerned about. " Okay, I think I am going to -" Quote:

Wait, stuck.. why would he be stuck?
She got closer and peered into the murkiness. Something dawned on her. " Ansley," she barked, her voice suddenly radiating concern. " Are you stuck as well?"

| Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent Finch raised an eyebrow at Torrance. "Have you? This isn't a place for students to play in. Maybe I need to talk to your uncle about that." If he ever got out of here, that is. Was it him or was he starting to sink? He was nearly waist-deep now and he hadn't moved further in, feeling somewhat stuck to the spot. This was becoming concerning.
Mhm, he was looking for the cat too, but the child should know enough that it didn't need two people going after it. That might even scare it away as it seemed rather spooked to begin with. In fact, where was that cat?
Ansley turned to see if he could see the feline, his eyes snapping to the Gryffindor as he could detect panic in his voice. Sinking? Uh, yeah... really the cat was the least of his concerns now as he was fairly certain he might be slowly sinking too. But he didn't want to concern the boy. "It's alright, Torrance, let's try to remain calm." Tiara was just on the other side, and he was sure she could offer some assistance. Maybe he shouldn't be so reluctant to accept it.
He tried to make his way towards Torrance, but it felt as if his legs were made of lead. And the harder he tried, the further he sank. This was not good at all. He turned towards Tiara again as she called his name. "Yeah, actually, I am... A little help?" He tried not to show any panic in his own voice, but the situation seemed to be getting worse. He did get close enough to Torrance, however, that perhaps he could be of some help if his sudden idea worked.
Hopefully his wand worked after being in the swamp. "Think you can grab onto my back?" He shook off some muddy, seaweed-like substance from his wand and attempted to cast Carpe Rectractum towards the corridor. Something about his swamp infested wand was interfering with the magic though and only a short, flimsy rope came out of the wand before fizzling away. Hopefully Tiara had a better idea.

Okay yes, somehow the swamp had turned into quicksand. HOW that had happened was a mystery to her, but this was Hogwarts and strange things happened all the time. " Okay you two, I think you are stuck in quicksand. So the more you struggle, the worse it gets." In other words, stop it right now!
Tiara tried to think. She watched Ansley's attempt and realized the quicksand was interfering somehow. Magical swamp, after all. So she took out her own wand from its holster and cast a form of Incarcerous. Ropes flew towards the two. " Catch!" she yelled, already tying the other end to a large statue nearby.

| Here we are! Mom says I have no sense of direction, so I packed my bags and right. Calm!? CALM!? Remain CALM!?!?!
Torrance was most definitely not. His one arm he just continues to try and pry free of the quicksand while the other held onto the slowly sinking log for dear life. He wanted to give Missus Tanner Professor a glare for telling him to Doggy Paddle , but he couldn't, wouldn't. Was to busy sinking.
He watched as Professor Mister Finch cast a HORRIBLE rope from his wand. Was he not a Professor!? He should be able to cast like TWENTY ROPES at once shouldn't he?!
Luckily The History of Magic Professor managed somehow to get himself close enough to Torrance. "B-but. won't we sink faster?!" he responded hesitant to grab hold. He was very happy with his slowly sinking log as opposed to Finch who would probably sink faster once the young lion latched onto him.
No sir he was content with the Log right now.
At least until Tanner caste a damn good rope their way! Catch it Professor Catch it! |

| Unforgivably Cursed | adultescent Oddly enough, it did not surprise Ansley that they boy would be obstinate and be reluctant to go along with his plan. Don't go crying to him when he sinks completely in then. But no.. he supposed he wouldn't be so unsympathetic, especially considering that he was sinking too. They had to get out of here.
His eyes snapped to Tiara. "Quicksand? How is there quicksand in here?" Uh, that really wasn't good at all, and he didn't know how this swamp suddenly turned into quicksand all of the sudden. But he really didn't have time to think about it. Though for all he knew, it was always quicksand. It wasn't as if he took regular swims in the swamp. "I don't know," he snapped as Torrance clung stubbornly to his log. "But we have a better chance of getting out that way rather than just staying here separately."And if he wasn't going to make it easier by climbing onto his back, then he was going to grab onto him if Tiara managed to cast some ropes his way.
Oh, fantastic. Ansley grabbed a hold off the rope with one hand and glanced over at the kid. "Come on, grab on.." Otherwise he was going to grab him too, but it would be a lot easier if Torrance could assist getting himself out. Beginning to pull on the rope to try to hoist himself out, he found he was still rather stuck so he called out to his colleague. "Can you pull too?"
