High up in the top-most reaches of the Castle is a tower dedicated to Ravenclaw House. You come across the entrance in the form of a door on the 7th floor without a doorknob or a keyhole but a bronze knocker shaped like the head of an eagle. If, and only if, you answer the riddle that the eagle presents you correctly, you may gain entrance to the Ravenclaw Common Room. Hey, there's a reason that Ravenclaw is the house for those with brains.
Upon entering the Common Room you see a number of things but mostly you see the floor to ceiling windows that span around the airy, wide and circular room. Beyond their panes you can see what looks like all of Hogwarts' campus and the majestic mountain range beyond. One sweeping look through them and you can see the Forbidden Forest, Quidditch Pitch, The Greenhouses, the Black Lake, and even the shimmering light from the windows in Hogsmeade. At nighttime, the glass reveals the starry night beyond. The walls are covered in blue and bronze silk hangings and the midnight blue carpet covering the floor is decorated with stars just as the domed ceiling.
Placed on the centre of the curved wall is a large fireplace with plenty of navy blue sofas and armchairs placed around it as well as a few book cases and tables. They are there for students to lounge at, as they work on homework, socialize or just relax and enjoy the view between lessons. On a crowded night in the common room the fire place is a good meeting spot if you want to find someone to engage in a rowdy game of Gobstones or plan a party with.
Along the wall you entered there is the Announcements Board where all things will be posted regarding school events, lessons, and homework as well as the Study Tables that are provided for a more structured setting for Ravenclaws to do what Ravenclaws do best. The Grey Lady, the House ghost of Ravenclaw tends to visit this spot especially every now and then. And last but not least, to the right of where the impressive statue of Rowena Ravenclaw herself stands, is the staircase leading to the dormitories. Once you ascend these stairs, going to the right will take you to the ones allotted for the girls and the left will lead you to the ones reserved for the boys. Come in, relax, have fun and make yourselves at home.

Maddison Cooper was settled on the floor by the fireplace, her kneazle king, Zeus, curled up right beside her. Every so often the latter would cast a disgruntled glance at his brunette companion as she set an origami creature of one kind or another too close for comfort. Unfortunately for Zeus, she cared little about his proximity to her work. She was focused, eyes fixed on her hands, fingers working nimbly to fold each piece of paper just so.
It was way too early, but Hadley was too excited to go back to bed, and wasn't keen on staying in her dorm after waking everyone up in her excitement.
Today, she was a teenager!
The newly minted teen bound down the stairs two at a time, with her two-way mirror in one hand and Asher, the ferret cradled sleepily in the nook of her other arm. The Common room was empty, as it was early and everyone was no doubt still asleep. Which meant, Hadley Denaker could do this: She took a running leap at the couch, twisting her body mid-air and landing seated on the couch.
It was fun, but Asher wasn't too pleased with her. He furiously chirped his disapproval at her which slowly descended into him giving her apology nudges. She returned the affection by giving him apology head scratches.
The plan had been to mirror Natalie and wish her twin a happy teenager day, but it was too early and chances were Nat was still sound asleep too.

It was later at night and Azura made her way down from the girls dorm, a blanket in her hand. Laying in bed trying to sleep just wasn't working. So she had grabbed some parchment, ink and a quill and headed down stairs.
Maybe she would be able to work on her music and tune everything else out.
She settled down by the fire, and wrapped her blanket around her. She picked up her quill and spread out a piece of parchment.. She stared at it for a moment before she started writing..
Not music like she had originally planned., but a letter to her mother.

Every so often the latter would cast a disgruntled glance at his brunette companion as she set an origami creature of one kind or another too close for comfort. Unfortunately for Zeus, she cared little about his proximity to her work. She was focused, eyes fixed on her hands, fingers working nimbly to fold each piece of paper just so.
Having correctly signed his answer to the Ravenclaw knocker's riddle and been permitted entry, Daxton stepped into the Ravenclaw common room, tugging his earmuffs down off of his ears as he did so. Though the common room tended to be much louder than the corridors at times, that was not usually the case at this time of day. The room was reasonably calm, though Daxton had to take a moment or two to adjust to having his hearing unmuffled. During this time, he cast his eyes about the common room, habitually surveying the area and shifting his three library books under his arm as he did so.
One girl in particular caught his eye, Maddison Cooper, the girl with whom Daxton vividly recalled sharing a carriage to school with just over a year ago. Though, it was less the girl herself that had grabbed Daxton's attention, and more what she was doing. Folding paper, over and over again, into creatures. Origami. It seemed such a mundane, meaningless activity, yet mesmerising, geometrically intriguing, and Daxton could not look away.
Noting the creature that sat nearby, Daxton approached anyway, and sat himself on the floor just across from the Cooper girl, trying to keep his distance from the cat-... no... the kneazle. Already he felt his eyes stinging purely from sitting so close, and Daxton rubbed at one of them, casting a suspicious and distrusting look at the animal, before looking at the paper creations instead, and setting his books and the floor beside him. Soon he would need to brew some more allergy potions, but for now, he inspected the small horde of strange origami creatures.

Clara was simply exhausted by this point, even though the school year had barely started. She blamed this on the frenzy that occurred at the Hogwarts Express every single time. Nothing could be worse than that one time someone knocked over all three of her cauldron cakes on the ground. Although this was probably an absentminded accident, this student - who shall not be named - proceeded to stomp on the pastries. Luckily, this year the food situation was much better. Clara had gotten her pumpkin pasty on the train, and the start of term feast was delicious. Maybe she was ravenous by the time she got to the Great Hall, but the food seemed more delectable than usual.
The feast had lasted much longer than necessary this year. Probably because of the Sorting. It seemed like every year, more and more students were coming in. Or perhaps Clara had grown weary of trying to be excited for the 1st years as they nervously waiting in line, as they stared out at the older students, as they grimaced as the Sorting Hat was placed on their small heads. Sure, she had been a 1st year once, and of course she remembered how it felt. That didn't necessarily mean she needed to be empathetic. After all, these tiny children were the reason for the food being delayed.
Rolling her eyes at her inner thoughts, Clara walked through the hallways...and more hallways. Several floors later, she recognized the door that she had laid eyes on thousands of times - the door to the Ravenclaw Common Room. Sighing contentedly, she went to answer the riddle, but unfortunately some other student answered first. She barely even heard the question, but shrugged it off, slightly disappointed on the inside.
Glad that she was in the Common Room anyway, she spotted a few students here and there. Most of them were probably still eating, or conversing in the halls. Having had tons of food already, and tired of socializing, Clara sunk down into a chair close to the window. Looking through the glass, she saw a bird fly past the trees. Not yet ready to make it to the dorms, because that meant stress, she decided to sit there for a while. A moment of solitude was much needed then.

He needed air. Needed.. to walk, or something. So with that in mind, the third year had slipped quietly out of bed, threw on his dress robes over his pajamas, and slipped something warm on his feet before heading down the stairs quietly to the common room.
Grey eyes adjusting to the faint light from the fire, Noah was surprised to see a small form sitting on the floor by the fireplace. With soft footsteps, the boy walked up behind the couch and leaned over, simply observing. It was Azura, that much he realized, but she seemed preoccupied and he wasn't sure if he ought to bother her, or leave her be.

Remembering that it was Haddie's birthday, Penelope got up, grabbed her present for Haddie, and went down to the common room. The new teenager in question was here. Not yet fully awake, Penelope stifled a yawn. "Do you have any idea what time it is Haddie?" She hadn't checked the time, but she was fairly sure that it was too early to be awake. Haddie got an 'it's too early in the morning' look, but it wasn't long before Penelope was smiling. "Haddie! Happy birthday!" Penelope handed Haddie a box wrapped in purple gift wrap and a birthday card. There were a few items in the box for Haddie. After this, Penelope would be going back to her dorm to get ready for her morning classes. She wasn't even dressed yet, but there wasn't really anyone around except Haddie so it was alright. Breakfast would be nice. Haddie was a teenager already. It seemed like the second year eagle had been a confused eleven year old new to the magical world only the day before. Had it really been a whole year?

"Um..." Hadley bit her lip as she turned to look at Penny. It was doing nothing to hide her half-amused, half-excited grin on her face. She glanced at the window, but it was still dark out with only the barest hint of twilight. "Nope," she said, giving Penny the Haddie shrug. "Sorry. Not a clue." But it was morning and it was her birthday, and she was a teenager, and she was excited about it, and she wasn't sorry about being so. Because she was thirteen!
And then the Head Girl was smiling and pulled out a present and card. It took Hads a second to catch up. "Wait, really? Thank you!" That she hadn't expected more than a warm and friendly Happy Birthday, and that would have been plenty, made the surprise gift all that more meaningful. Hadley opened the card first, because her Mom had raised her right, read it quietly with a smile. But it was when she opened the gift that Haddie's eyes went wide and her mouth sure whether to gape in surprise or smile; it sorta tried to do both at the same time. "Thank you!" she squealed, just a bit too loudly.
Hadley pulled the items out one by one, starting with the bracelets. She slipped them on and, grinning, turned to Penny. "How do they look?" They didn't quite fit with the white pajama bottoms speckled with blue whales all over, nor with the plain cotton t-shirt, light blue with a white potted plant, angled like it was falling, and a little thought bubble above it with the words Not again.
Next came the socks, which got a quizzical but no less thrilled, look. "Purple toucan socks? Huh." She didn't get it, but at the same time they sort of fit her personality. Which she also didn't get, but the socks were no less great. "A new journal! Awesome. I'm almost out of room with my old one." Immediately Hadley took out Kira, her wand, and circled the tip above the book three times, flicking it twice, pausing a second before giving a third flick. "Clausaltus Obfirmo!" The first spell Penny taught her, just under a year ago, for her previous journal. "There. All prepped and ready for..." She never finished the thought, because she looked to see what the last item was and her mouth started doing that not sure whether to gape or smile thing again. It was a book and yet much more personal than that. It was a book of tips and tricks by Penny, to help Hadley cast a Patronus. "Wow. I...don't know what to say. Thank you."
Haddie practically jumped to her feet and wrapped Penny in a hug.

Azura kept on scribbling down on her parchment.. the letter to her mom.. But when her tears blurred the pages she put down her quill and sighed softly. This wasn't going to do.. crying in the common room late at night? What if people heard her? She had to do her best to convince everyone that she was fine!
She cleared the tears from her and and was looking into the fire before she heard a slight creak from the couch behind her and she looked up and slowly smiled as she saw who was there.
"Hey Noah." She said with as much of a warm smile as she could muster these days.. "Can't sleep?" She asked him as she patted the floor next to her.. "Come sit." She said as she leaned back against the couch and offered him some of her blanket.

From carefully unfolding and deconstructing it to memorise (in reverse) the steps that were taken to create it, to crushing it under his hand or foot, to sending it right into a fire to see how it burned, and plenty in between.
He glanced up, the key words 'book' and 'learn' grabbing his attention at once. He did not know if it had been an offer, but it made Daxton suspicious nevertheless. If it was, he could not help but wonder exactly why she would offer something like that, oblivious as he was to all things potentially 'nice' or 'kind'. It seemed more likely to Daxton that the Cooper girl was flaunting something that she had that Daxton did not. He did not know if it was wise to assume either way, knowing that people could say the strangest things and then act like the obscure meanings were the most obvious thing in the world. There was no way Daxton could think to respond that did not risk making him look dim-witted (which he most certainly was not), and so he quickly averted his eyes again, looking back to the folded paper creature.

Maddie wondered what the younger claw did with all those thoughts in his head that he never shared out loud. She'd seen him write down his thoughts before, which was also interesting as it made her wonder if he dared write his more private thoughts down, too. Unwise, in her opinion, given how curious claws could be. Take her, for instance. If a notebook like that existed, she'd want to get her hands on it merely to know what was going on in his mind. She'd be paying more attention from now on just to see.
The sneeze, as quiet as it was, caused Zeus to rise from his current place beside his master and stretch out as much as he could, awaking his muscles. The sight earned a smile from Maddie and she wiggled a piece of the colorful paper she was holding in front of Z's face, amused when he rolled onto his back right between herself and Daxton to swat at it.
Given the looks he'd been giving her kneazle up til now, the seventh year was curious to see how Prince would react when Z was so close.
Maddie wondered what the younger claw did with all those thoughts in his head that he never shared out loud. She'd seen him write down his thoughts before, which was also interesting as it made her wonder if he dared write his more private thoughts down, too. Unwise, in her opinion, given how curious claws could be. Take her, for instance. If a notebook like that existed, she'd want to get her hands on it merely to know what was going on in his mind. She'd be paying more attention from now on just to see.
The sneeze, as quiet as it was, caused Zeus to rise from his current place beside his master and stretch out as much as he could, awaking his muscles. The sight earned a smile from Maddie and she wiggled a piece of the colorful paper she was holding in front of Z's face, amused when he rolled onto his back right between herself and Daxton to swat at it.

Now that the Cooper girl had mentioned the book, Daxton was having a hard time keeping his thoughts from straying to it. He wanted to read every book, every single book in existence. It was physically impossible, of course, unless he could permanently slow down the aging process - not that he had not thought about that possibility before - but it was also a goal with which, even by failing, he was still gaining something by making an attempt.
Knowledge.
And knowledge was power. Everyone knew that, surely. Even knowledge about the smallest, seemingly most insignificant things, like paper folding, could become a powerful tool. Nobody could say otherwise, not with any real certainty. Not unless they were stupid. Daxton frequently read books about subjects that he was not necessarily interested in, or consider to be important - obviously he did, considering his goal to read every book - because knowledge was power.
Not-quite-lost in his thoughts, the movement from the Kneazle was enough to bring Daxton completely back to the present moment. He eyed it, leaning backwards - subconsciously only at first - and pulled the neck of his school shirt up to cover his face and nose, protecting himself from allergens as best he could. Nothing could be done about his eyes, which had been stinging right from the off in any case.
He supposed that what the Kneazle was doing was what most people would call cute; maybe that was the reason the Cooper girl was smiling. But Daxton did not see anything cute. He saw an overrated, hairball of a creature, that would likely ravage his hands, feet, or face should he get too close. Pets were stupid, anyway. They were designed to make people weak and vulnerable, not unlike friends, and Daxton was not about to willingly fall into that trap. He shuffled backwards, turning away from the bizarre excuse for a cat so that it and the Cooper girl were now on his left-hand side, and made a point of obviously and intently inspecting the folded paper creature in his hands, mouth and nose still covered by his shirt.

If the Prince boy was afraid of Zeus, Maddie could only assume he'd have gone by now. Instead, he'd covered his face with his shirt and turned away. Maddie tilted her head, observing him much like he was now observing her origami. But why did he cover his face? Zeus had moved closer and he'd covered his-Oh. "You're allergic to him." Kneazles in general, really. Perhaps other creatures, too? That was knowledge she'd not had before.
"There are potions that help with that." Just saying.
Hadley was stretched out in front of the fire. Asher, as usual, was next to her, playfully attacking his toy stuffed dragon, Kurwich Kurfluffle. He didn't travel far from Hadley's side and occasionally would nuzzle her hand, and she'd give him pets or tummy scratches.
Mostly Hadley was engrossed in a book about brooms and how they're made. Her brow was furrowed and sometimes she could be seen mouthing words to herself or absently twirling her wand as she read. "This spell is impossible," she told her ferret as she sat up. Hadley let out a frustrated sigh, closed her book and scooped the ferret into her arms. She needed a break and Asher needed food. Hads pulled out a small bag full of chunks of meat and held one out for the ferret.
She'd ask Mossy for help with the spell next time she saw her.

"Oh, hey. I was...uh...." Hadley cast a sideways glance at Asher, who looked up at her as if to say, Beats me. I'm only a ferret. He was being no help at all. She wiped her hand on her robe and then touched the back of her hand to Mossy's forehead. She didn't feel hotter than normal. "Nope. Why? What's up?"
Sure, Mossy could be a bit of a worrier sometimes, even when there was nothing to worry about, but thinking she had a fever was new. "Are you not feeling well or something?"
Asher nuzzled Hadley's hand and the redhead reached back into the bag and feed him another piece of meat. "Do you want to try feeding Asher? I'm sure he'll grow on you once you get to know him a bit." Yep, she remembered how nervous Mossy had been around him while Hadley had been seven. "He's a sweetheart. I Promise."
So she didn't. Katherine looked even sadder and sat down on an armchair as her bag was dropped to the side. "No... I mean... I just couldn't focus on what I was reading in the library," she said as if she was announcing that she had 3 months left to live, "what if it's puberty? What if I become one of those dimwits who use hormones as an excuse to become good-for-nothings?" She was 12 years, 6 months old now. She couldn't afford not focusing on!
Oh, Haddie was asking her if she wanted to feed - Asher. Right. Asher. Katherine wouldn't forget it now, Asher. She looked at the animal with a face full of suspicion, and then shook her head.
"Maybe later." Their friendship didn't cover being friends with their animals. But if it did, Katherine would have to reconsider.

"Or maybe you just need a break from always studying. Maybe..." she lowered her voice, conspiratorially and leaned in closer to Mossy. "Your brain is just in need of some actual fun." Hadley punctuated it with a mock gasp of surprise, and then smiled to show she was only kidding. "But, seriously, you probably need a break, and go do something you enjoy that isn't work. Or just hang out for a bit." Hads patted the spot next to her invitingly.
"Oh, and you're definitely going to go through puberty," if she hadn't started already. "And you're definitely gonna get hormonal." Hadley was enjoying this a bit too much. "But, Moss, I don't think you'll ever be dimwitted." She feed Asher another piece of meat, which he greedily took, and shrugged. "One day I'll help you get past your fear of animals." Especially since Hadley still was working at being able to become an animal at will, so you know...
Katherine looked HORRIFIED. Hadley meant things like - like - partying all night long. Or - or gossiping. Doing nothing and wasting time. Not stimulating your brain. No sir, thank you very much! Katherine didn't need that sort of stuff. She stubbornly shook her head.
"The only thing I enjoy doing is work. Or reading a book. Actually..." she had wanted to check out a book on the muggle history of medieval times. She could do that. Yeah. Thanks, Haddie.
........Katherine narrowed her eyes at her friend. "No," she just stated, she wasn't going to get hormonal. She was a very clever girl and she knew how to act. She wasn't going to lose her mind.
"I'm not afraid of animals," she quickly said, and leaned in to ask her an obviously VERY important question.
"Do you - like someone?" Because the way she put it, she had already got hormonal and hormonal=wasting time over stupid romance relationships.
The horrified look was very telling. Hadley rolled her eyes amused. "Whatever you are thinking, I didn't mean that. Just you can't spend your life studying and cramming for tests. You have to enjoy other things beyond that?" She paused a moment and looked Mossy up and down. "Well, at the very least, do something with the things you learn. What's the use of knowing it if you don't use it?" Surely the girl could see the wisdom of that.
Hadley had to stifle her chuckle as Mossy protested that's she'd go through puberty and have to deal with hormones. "Yes you will. It's biological. 'All children, except one, grow up.' And I'm closer to that one than you are." She was, of course, speaking about Peter Pan. "You do know what puberty is don't you?" It's unavoidable. "You'll still be you even with puberty, you know that too, right?" Wasn't this basic stuff? Mossy should know this already.
Hadley raised an eyebrow at the protests of being scared of animals. It wasn't worth arguing. And even if she'd wanted to, Mossy made it unlikely by leaning in and asking a question. A question that made Hadley blush scarlet. Denying it now would be a blatant lie. "I...do. He's a Gryffindor."
Yeah, Katherine's understanding of 'fun' was precisely that - cramming for tests and studying. "I enjoy reading a book," she said, "and..." That was it. She didn't like television much, for she hadn't really been allowed to watch it. She also didn't like video games, those were a waste of time... music, she wasn't talented at. Sports - blegh.
You know what this means. That you've wasted your time.
She shrugged non-chalantly. She wasn't an empty, annoying know-it-all. Well, she was, but not in that sense. Silencing the little voice that sometimes spoke the truth, she impatiently waved her hand at her friend.
"Of course I know what it means!" she said, "and I've seen what teenagers become during this phase. They become little rebels, they hate the world and they think no one can help them." She made a face that CLEARLY showed what she thought of these people. "So they aren't themselves. They want a relationship and they don't care about their grades." But Katherine wasn't going to be such a teenager. In fact, she wasn't even going to be a teenager. She was already very mature, and she was clever enough not to 'love' someone before the university, so she had nothing to worry about. Right.
If Hadley did become such a teenager, she was disowning her right that moment.
.......a Gryffindor. Blaise was also a Gryffindor and only one year older. Blaise and Hadley were perfect for each other, even though she'd have to admit that Hadley is better than Blaise - she had a goal, at least, and could do magic. Katherine's chest got tighter, while her brain was yelling her to be logical. It was stupid of her, very much so. Hadley could love anyone, whenever she wanted (although as her friend, Katherine would suggest otherwise). Besides, Blaise wasn't even a wizard. Why did Katherine think too much about him?
"Who is it?" she half-whispered as she held her breath.
