" Well, maybe you could take me exploring sometime... Since you happen to know your way around so well and everything." Miranda kind of knew she was pushing it. Brady was older and wouldn't want to be giving some peeky first year a grand tour around the joint. afterall she was sure he had friends and classes... and a life. But nevermind that he had mentioned extra sleep. And well sleep was one of the things she was best at.

Honestly Esme wasn't TOO surprised that Isabella had never seen a house elf before. They weren't exactly coming out of the woodwork when it came to households. Though, of course, many people still owned them. "That's a very good way to look at things. My family doesn't have one either though we have a maid to help my mom look after the house." It was a big house and could be a lot for one person to take on. "The elves are really friendly and cute. I think you will love them!" Was there anyone who disliked house elves? She didn't want to meet the person who DID.

"Pretty often, yeah. People can get them whenever they want to. Well, besides during classes or after curfew obviously." Esme smiled. She was sure that Isabella wouldn't be breaking any rules. "We can go now if you want to."

Isabella nodded in understanding. "I want to have a maid someday," she said. "I don't like cleaning or cooking. I'd rather spend my time doing stuff." She wasn't sure what stuff was, but staying at home to do chores all day was not her cup of tea.

"Yes! Let's go meet the house elves!" she said, hopping off the seat in excitement. She'd sat long enough that she wasn't particularly dizzy anymore, and meeting house elves meant food, too. Isabella could always go for a snack.

Maids were nice, yes, but Esme didn't think that she would want one when she was older. There was nothing wrong with doing things yourself though she did know that cleaning the house was too much for her mother alone. They had a big place and her mom was huge on keeping things tidy; something that she had passed on to Esme. "What kind of things do you like doing? I like to draw and play musical instruments." There were other things she did for fun obviously but those were two examples. Isabella would find loads to do at Hogwarts as well.

"Okay, let's go!" she said happily as she led the way towards the door from the common room. Fortunately they didn't have far to go because all this talk about food was making her a little hungry.

Esme was just so cool, in Isabella's opinion. She drew, she knew where the food was, she (presumably) knew how to get to class without getting lost. All these were very admirable traits in Isabella's eyes, and learning that Esme liked drawing was pretty much the icing on the cake of what Isabella thought was a shiny new friendship. "I like to draw, too!" she said happily. "But usually I play sports instead. At my old school, I played hockey, and football. Those are Muggle sports. They're so much fun!" Isabella wondered if Esme even knew what hockey and football were, or if she only knew wizarding sports like Quidditch.

She gladly followed the other girl out of the common room. Thank goodness, now she would know where to get her mid-afternoon and evening snacks from!

Miranda walked into the common room and flopped down onto the couch... She was exhausted. So many classes and different activities were going on and she was sapped of every bit of energy...

Ugggh.

Esme was feeling SO lazy right now. It was unusual for her, but she did not want to do anything. Her mood felt off sometimes lately and it was all because of what had happened to her. What she needed was a good distraction, but she didn't have any ideas at the moment. Her mood was putting her in a funk and she did NOT like it at all.

Sighing, she flopped down on the couch and closed her eyes. Maybe she could try to nap...

Juno bounced into the common room. She was happy. Mostly because her sister was back to normal. Also because it was almost Valentines and they were going to have a sister date AND THEN IT WAS THEIR BIRTHDAY!

But she also know that Esme was having a really hard time understanding what happened to her. So she was happy to see that Esme was in the common room....though it looked as though she was asleep.

She sat on the floor to where she would be next to her sisters head and whispered, "Esme....I just came from the Owlery....we have a letter from mooooooooommmmmmmmmmmmm! I didn't open it because it's for both of us. I'm hoping there is mooooooneeeeeeey in thereeeeeeeee!!!!!! Wake uppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She gave her sister's cheek a poke. She was just too excited!

She had juuuuuuust started drifting off to sleep when someone started poking her face. Okay, not someone... it was her sister. Esme made a sound and wanted to swat Juno away because tired but... there was a letter from home. Hopefully whatever it was about was good! Not like their parents never sent them mail; they kept in touch all throughout term though there were certain things left out of letters because they would make their mother freak. Oops?

"I'm uuuuuup." See? She was sitting now. Rubbing her eyes, Esme ignored the fact that her hair was now a little tousled. "Okay, you can read it now." She grinned at Juno, clearly excited as well now that she was more woken up.

Juno giggled at Esme. She was so silly sometimes...and the only person that could really make her laugh. She made herself a little more comfortable on the floor by sitting cross legged, sitting on your knees was never comfortable. "Ok, ok! Let me open it first." She quickly put her fingers under the flap of the envelope to loosen the wax seal. Yes...they still used those.......they are cool.

She unfolded the letter, she gave a quick grin to her sister, clearing her through, "'Hello my darlings! Just wanted to check in and see how you are doing.' Of course she did, we are the best," Juno said with a grin before continuing, "'Things here have been quiet hectic and worriesome. Your father...,'" her face dropped. Juno held the paper as close to her face as humanly possible and read the words in the letter. This couldn't be....her breathing picked up pace and tears started streaming down her face. Her eyes were so full of tears she couldn't read anymore.

She was sobbing. In the middle of the common room.

She put the letter in her sister's lap and put her hands over her face to cover up the tears. Her daddy was hurt...

Curiously Esme listened as Juno started to read the letter... but something was WRONG. Something that had happened to their dad. "Juno?" she asked, scared as her sister started crying. Juno hardly EVER cried so whatever this was had to be bad.

Hands shaking, she picked up the letter and started reading. She didn't even finish before the tears were flowing. Something bad had happened to her dad. Nothing bad was supposed to happen to him and now he was hurt and there was no way that they could go to him and make sure that he was okay.

They were both crying now and Esme didn't care if anyone saw because that was her FATHER.

A low rumble was heard before the GNUPIDS arriveeed. It was February still! YES, YES! Just like the plan to send all the studensies their grams the whole month. It was SO EXCITING!

It. Was. Time.

Paul had adhered to Esme Darcy's request for this VERY weird....contraption thing. But he'd made it happen. Instead of chocolate or CHEESE the fountain.........was SKITTTTTTLES.

It was very large, too. Paul had to use magic to get it up here, and it'd really been a pain in his BUM but no matter! It was here now, and he set it right in the middle of the room, dusting his hands off on his knees as if he'd done actual physical work bringing it up here. It was almost as tall as he was, and it was surely taller than some of the students. Hopefully it wouldn't make too much of a mess? HOPEFULLY?

"BADGERS?" he called out, hoping some of them were at least here.



OOC: Yes. A skittles fountain. The picture above...please ignore the creepy man who looks WAY too excited about skittles and imagine the fountain is a LOT LOT LOT bigger. But legit, thats the only picture of a skittles fountain I could find O__O Post away, have fun! Yada yada!

Hattie had been curled up on her favourite chair, a book resting in her hands. She was chilling out. She knew she had some homework to do, but she was going to do that later. For now she just needed some Hattie time. She didn't get a lot of Hattie time lately. She looked up though, when she heard her head of house's voice. Actually he was kind of shouting. Was something wrong? She blinked though, as she saw what he had with him

Where those skittles?

She girl jumped up, leaving her book behind as she hurried over to where the Professor was. If there were sweeties then she wanted to have some.

"Are those skittles Sir?"

Miranda walked in from the dorm room and saw Hattie talking to one of the professors and they were both standing in front of the most miraculous thing... A Skittle fountain stood in the center of their common room.... She couldn't believe it! She walked over and tapped Hattie on the shoulder..
" I'm seeing this right, right?" she asked and about to pinch herself for fear she was dreaming...
She stared at the fountain hoping it wasn't gonna just vanish..."This is the BEST ever!!!!" she exclaimed .

Norah poked her head out the dormitory door at the sound of one very important word: Skittles. SKITTLES? WHERE?? She abandoned her Arithmancy book laying open her bed and raced to the common room, completely ignoring the fact that the bun on top of her head looked like an absolute disaster. Skittles were WORTH IT. Not that she really cared that much any other day, but y'know. She'd gotten a little better at paying attention to her appearance and that had to count for something even if most of the time she ended up forgetting.

The prefect grinned giddily at the younger students and walked right up to the skittles fountain. MAN. It was like a dream. She had half a mind to pinch herself, 'cause it wouldn't be the first time she'd fallen asleep while studying arithmancy, but instead she stuck out a hand to catch a good mound of skittles. Then she paused for just a moment. Eating random food probably was not the smartest idea in the universe. There was no telling what weird stuff was going on with it, right? These were in the COMMON room, though. The HUFFLEPUFF common room. None of her Baby Puffs could be mean enough to put bad skittles in the common room. That would be an atrocity. SKITTLES were sacred property in her book.

Norah wiggled her eyebrows at the firsties and stuck out her skittle-filled hand. "Feast time!" She popped three green skittles into her mouth and grinned again. Best. Study Break. EVER.

Miranda watched the prefect go somewhat bonkers over the fountain of fabulous skittles that flowed unyieldingly .Oh what a glorious site to see.... Randa knew that it must be safe to eat... Norah had just popped a few and didn't keel over and die.... Yes, Tested and safe for consumption. so, she pressed foward and held out her eager little hands and let them fill up.
She stepped back and saw that her hands were full of red skittles!!!!! Her absolute favourite.... Oh how magically deliscious.....
" I got all red ones.... I wonder if it only gives you the ones you like best?" Miranda asked the older girl.

It seemed that whenever something interesting was going on in the common room, the Friar had a sense or something. The Hufflepuff Common Room was simply calling to him right now, and so he followed his ghostly instincts and floated casually down to the Badger Den.

"Oh, my!" he said as he swooped inside. Tiny, tiny colored circles were bouncing around whatever that contraption was. Little white S's were stamped atop the colorful circles. My oh my, the Friar didn't know what to make of this!

"What is all this?" He looked from the students to Professor Myers. Was it a party? Had he not been invited?

This was a WHOLE new level of awesome. Professor Myers was already the coolest of the cool in Norah's eyes, but now she had even more solid proof. A Skittle Fountain. Genius. She shoved the rest of the candies in her hand into her mouth, then gave Miranda a colorful smile. What a time to be alive.

The prefect smiled and nodded quickly at her suggestion. "Maybe!" She caught another few skittles (for science. obviously) and let them rest on her palm. She had not one color, but THREE, which didn't say much considering she didn't think she had a favorite flavor anyways. They were all lovely. They were all SKITTLES, after all. Once those had been consumed, Norah narrowed her eyes at the fountain, then turned to the first year once more. "How d'ya think he got it in here?" Assuming it had been Professor Myers, anyways. Which she did. Who else would think up something so incredibly RADICAL?

It was a shame the Fat Friar couldn't enjoy it, though. "It's candy, sir." Even after nearly seven whole years Norah still wasn't sure if she was supposed to call a ghost 'Sir' or not. She shrugged and snagged another skittle. Titles didn't matter much when there was candy around.

IT WAS IN!! THE SKITTLES FOUNTAIN WAS IN!!

Squealing, Esme rushed over to where some of her Housemates had accumulated. Professor Myers was the man of the hour. No, forget that... he was the man of the YEAR because he had not only considered her request but delivered on it. Not all Heads of House would do that; they had the best of all of them but then she was biased. "Thank you so much, Professor!" Because really.

Even the Fat Friar had made his way over even though he couldn't enjoy any of the candy for himself. That was a real shame. "I requested this at the start of term and Professor Myers put it in," she explained in answer to the ghosts question before reaching into the fountain and collecting some of the Skittles.

Yummy.

Yes! They were skittles! This made Hattie happy. She loved skittles. To be honest she just loved sweets. She made a mental note to not eat too many though. She didn't need to have a sugar rush. They were fun but the coming down was so not fun. So only a few skittles. Or a few dozen anyway.

"I don't know...." She murmured with a little laugh, as she reached and got herself some skittles. "Ooh blue. I like blue" And blue were fun. She popped one into her mouth, and ate it. "Yummy" And could they keep this for the rest of the term? Because she would love it.

"It's sweet Sir" She murmured, as she looked up at the Fat Friar. "Sweeties are the best" Though not so good for your teeth really.

THE BADGERS WERE COMING THE BADGERS WERE COMING

He was glad to see they were happy about this! Happy badger den! "Yes, eat as many as you want, okay?" he said as he sat down in front of the fountain, watching the skittles clatter against one another. "You all are very welcome!" The Friar had even come! Yipeeeeeeee! "It's candy, Alfred, sir," Paul said with a grin. "That I wish I could share with you! Alas."

Alas indeed. How did ghosts deal with it all the time? Seeing people eat food. Food was just...the best part of the day most days. Paul sat up, got on his knees, and leaned over to scoop some skittles out of the fountain and DEVOUR them. Rainbow goodness! Fruity deliciousness!

What was going on today? Nothing, absolutely nothing. Not with this second year. Bradson Somerhalder waltzed down to the common room from the boys dormitory. What was everyone doing here? Professor Paul and the Fat Friar? Was something going on? There was a party wasn't there? Was it for him? How could it be for him? His birthday wasn't until August. The second year looked around at everyone as he walked closer. THE KING HAS ARRIVED. Wait, he was a knight. Oh well, king sounded better.

The Friar had stooped closer to the fountain. The multi-colored spheres were indeed very curious to him, but as Norah soon explained, it was candy. "I've never had candy before," he said mournfully. "It was invented after I died." Pure sadness about that.

"Oh. That was very nice of Professor Myers, then!" Alfred nodded and smiled over at Esme. "What do they taste like?" he asked curiously. He was used to watching people eat by now, but candy! He had never experienced candy before.

One of the first years, Hattie, spoke up, too. "Sweets. Yes, I've heard candy is very sweet!" He just wished he could envision, or rather en-taste? the flavor of candy. "Ah, Professor Myers, it's all right! I will simply live vicariously through you all!" It was really no big deal!

"However, I have a proposition for you all! We could play.....a game?" he asked, glancing at the newest Badger [Brady] to join them. "....You all could try to throw candy through me for points? I could zip around!" The Friar swooped upwards toward the ceiling.

Juno was taking a quiet stroll around the castle amd had just pushed open the door to the common room when she saw that basically the whole house was in the common room. WHOA! What was going on here? "Uh....hey, everyone." She gave an awkward wave, and headed towards her sister who looked extremely excited about something.

"Hey, Es! What is all the excitement about? Whoa even the Friar is here!" She noticed the house Ghost after she had walked through the crowd. It was hard to see them sometimes.
