Charms Lesson 3: This is no laughing matter Was it time for the final charms class before finals already? How was it that the term went so quickly? If you thought Professor Primeaux looked a bit off last class you will really think something is wrong this time. As you walk into the classroom the first thing you might notice is there are no desks, no teacher desk, and no chairs. A very large room with nothing in it. What could Primeaux really be up to for this lesson? He is standing in the front of the room looking very much back to normal. His face seeming a bit more exhausted then usual, but all in all he looks exactly like the no funny business, be on time, be ready professor he has always been. As you do walk into the empty room there is a note on the board: Quote:
Class Progression: Hellos and first question Charms we could use Bubble-head Charm Dodge Ball fun OOC: It has come to my attention that nitpicking about the game has happened. The laughing gas is just that LAUGHING GAS. It will not harm your charrie at all. It will make them giggle like crazy. It is a magical castle so it wouldn't be real anesthesia, but magical to make you laugh. As JULIEN said there is nothing in this room that would harm any student. Azura loved Charms, it was the one class she was always early for and she hardly ever missed.. Charms and Potions were her thing.. The purple eyed teen was smiling happily as she walked into the room. "Hello Professor Primeaux!" She said with a warm smile before she looked around and noticed the blank room.. Uhh.. The chairs and desks were missing.. She slowly did a small spin around the room, taking everything in before she looked up to the board and read the instructions. Okay. She took her wand out of her bag and then placed her bag at the front of the room and headed over to take a seat near the wall.. So she could lean on it.. Cause no chairs.. |
Nothing really surprised him anymore. When Jaemin stepped into the classroom, small and tired and still grey-haired because of the spell he couldn't get to properly work, he merely blinked for a moment at the emptiness of the room before heading to the front. He read the board quietly, then removed a few small odds and ends from his bag and stuffed them into his pockets before dropping it with Azura's. He looked at the professor for a loooooong moment as well, before heading back toward the door and sitting on the floor near it. He had heard about the unceremonious departure of his friend. So he would sit back here, thanks. Just in case. He fished his wand out of his pocket as well and kept it in his hand, settled lightly in his lap. |
Abby walked into the Charms classroom and said "Good morning Professor Primeaux" Abby noticed the instructions on the board and took her wand out of her bag and placed her bag at the front of the room and then headed over to the wall and leaned against it as there were no seats to sit on |
----Swish Swoosh-----Where is the Charms classroom?? Tenacius was cruising around the corridor, looking for that familiar looking, spic and span, everything- is -in-proper-place-because-everything-should-be -proper classroom of one Professor Primeaux. Was something posted at the notice boards about the Charms class moving elsewhere? He thought he checked that out and he couldve sworn he didn’t see anything. Well… given that he did try his best to look for the classroom and he couldn’t find it, does this mean free time? Awwwyea! Maybe he can practice his cruiser moves in this here empty classr--- ---ASDFSAFSADFwhatistheProfessordoingthere?? The Gryffindor drifted his cruiser so hard at the sight of the once-again-imposing Charms Instructor that he flipped backwards and landed on his bum, his cruiser clattering noisily beside him. "Professor Primeaux! What are you do-- I mean…. Hi!" Is this Charms class? Where are the chairs?? Where is he going to practice his Marty McFly moves now? He saw the note on the board. Right gotcha. So he hastily makes his way away from where the Charms Man was, next to the wall, where he hoped the Big man had a blind spot. Oh right, his stuff was still with him, so he hastily banished his stuff to the front of the classroom where it smacked noisily against the wall. Oops. |
The fact the term was nearly over hardly bothered Brooklyn. She had other things to occupy her thoughts than finals, or even wondering if the Charms professor was still acting entirely out of character. In fact, it had taken her a moment once she had walked into the classroom to notice that things were nowhere near normal. Just the lack of desks or, well, anything, was notable, and she narrowed her eyes slightly as she looked around the room. This was almost worse than having to crawl through dusty tunnels or anything else they’d had to endure for Charms lessons before. “Good morning Professor Primeaux,” she said, her blue eyes landing on the figure at the front of the room. At least one thing wasn’t completely crazy. She hadn’t done anything else, however. She’d just gone over to set her bag down in a corner before choosing a spot near a window to sit down. If she was having to be tortured by sitting on the ground, she was going to have a nice view. |
Term was nearly over and Hady wasn't sure whether or not to be happy about it. The year had brought about a lot of changes some better then others but all of which she had made it through. At least she didn't have OWLs to sit or NEWTs yet. She was headed for a wonderful break coming up in which she would spend lots of time with all her favorite people. Entering the Charms room Hady instantly took notice to two things. The first being that there was nothing at all in the room. Nothing. No desks and no chairs. Not a hint about that days lesson was to be found. The other was that Professor Primeaux appeared to look much more himself today. Both these things weren't of very important matter. "Morning professor," she greeted with a small nod of her head walking further into the room, hazel eyes finding the words on the board. Following instructions she set her bag against the wall before choosing an empty spot on the floor and sitting down. Her wand remained in the holster on her arm where it always was, ready for when she would need it. |
Charms time. Janelle entered the classroom and stopped short. The room virtually empty. While this caught Janelle off guard, she was not completely surprised. At Hogwarts, the odd was normal and the normal was odd. Given how classrooms had been set up this term, the emptiness of the room was par for the course. At least the professor was present and accounted for this time. "Hello Professor Primeaux", Janelle said, once she was finally inside. She stopped and read the note on the board, then did as she'd been told. Janelle took her bag to the front of the classroom and left it on the floor there. She retrieved her wand and proceeded to find an empty spot on the floor. Then she sat down and made herself comfortable.......well, as comfortable as one can be sitting on the floor. Since she had time before class started, Janelle thought about what they might possibly be doing in an empty room. The possibilities were endless. |
Term was almost over. Almost. But there was still plenty to get through before Nicky was 17 and could finally, finally, get out of the dreary pit of a school. Sure, the owl she'd gotten had soured her mood, and she was carrying that sourness with her into class. But out of this place... that was bright spot enough. Walking into the room, she stopped to read the board and rolled her eyes. One, she would not be leaving her bag where anyone could just go through it. Two, she was not sitting on the floor. She glanced back at the door, wondering if a quick exit were possible. Surely whatever they were going to do today she could manage with just someone's notes and a little bit of practice time... but more people were coming in and her getaway was blocked. Eyes narrowing, she made her way to the back corner of the classroom and put her bag there, instead. Then she stood, leaning against against where the walls met, arms folded across her chest. |
Miranda walked into the charms class seeing her favourite professor smiled and greeted him, " Hello, Sir..... Nice to see you're feeling a bit back to normal...." Then reading the instructions pulled her wand from her bag and placed it on the floor in the front of the room. then whirled around and found a seat on the floor near the front but not completely so.... Sitting with her legs crossed she sat and waited for her final lesson of the term.... |
When Arielle walked into the classroom, she stopped, looked around, and had a very confused look on her face. No chairs? NO DESKS?!? Professor Primeaux must be going crazy, there was something cynical about him being back to "normal". Arielle looked up at the board and saw the note there, and walked up to the front of the class to drop her stuff down. As she walked to a back wall to sit down she took out her wand from the pocket of her robes and sat down, not ready for her first year at Hogwarts to end. |
Fiyero could hardly believe this was the last charms class before exams. Where had the time gone? "Hello, Professor Primeaux," he said with a polite nod toward the charms professor as he walked into the room. He glanced around the room. No desks today? Okay, cool. If this was anything like the last class when the desks were gone, this was going to be a fun lesson! He suddenly noticed the note on the board that said he wouldn't need anything besides his wand and set his bag down at the front of the room with a loud thump. Hosltering his wand, he took a seat on the floor at the back of the classroom and waited for Professor Primeaux to start the lesson. |
Ah, another charms lesson. Charms was one of Hadley's favorite classes, and she was always eager to discover what new charm or charms they'd be learning. It was an active, hands on, cast spells subject, like DADA and Transfiguration, and that meant she loved attending the class. Practically skipping, Hadley entered the classroom and stopped. Nope. Not even a little surprised not to see the desks. Sure, it wasn't the norm, but it seemed to happen enough that it wasn't the least bit surprising. Actually, she would have been surprised if they hadn't done another desk-less lesson before the end of the year. "Good morning, Professor..." Hads caught herself before adding Prime. She really wasn't in the mood for another detention. She set her bag down in the front and surveyed the room. Oh, there was Tenacius! With a small, kinda dreamy smile, Hadley made her way over to the lion and sat down next to him. "Salamander," she said with a curt nod. |
Matt was feeling ENERGETIC. Charms class was cool because he got to channel all of his ENERGY to the Charms he was going to be working on. YEAH. ENERGY. HUZZAH. The thirteen year-old was half-dancing his way to the classroom and when he finally entered it, he was doing a standing worm dance to a song only heard by Matt himself. Standing worm. Standing worm. Standing wooorrrrmmmmm. "HELLO, professor!" The Gryffindor greeted the man who was just STANDING there looking like his old self. A tired old self, but his old self nonetheless. His eyes darted straight to the board and, after quickly reading the instructions, Matt trotted to the front of the room and dropped his bag noisily on the floor. Grinning at professor Primeaux, the boy then RUSHED towards the middle of the room. SO MUCH SPACE! But HEYO, hallo, Chewie. "YO." Matt greeted his friend from a distance. He wanted to stay in the MIDDLE OF THE ROOM, not near the wall, but he STILL wanted to say hi to Ace, alright. |
See at this point in the year classes were a snooze fest of studying and prep for the studying. So Dante hardly look froward to them. Even if they did anything interesting. Dante did not care. Like in Draper's class. At least the Professor was here and not pulling some stunt. "Professor" Dante nodded at the man. Slytherins nodded in greeting. It was a thing. See these type of things Dante liked since he did not really like the desks they have in these rooms. So not desks no nothing. Dante hoped they could just lay down and nap. But now that was a dream. Especially considering their Professor. Oh well guess Dante will have to find out like everyone else what they were doing with just their wand. Hopefully not something dirty. |
Class time. Charms time!! Noelle made her way to class. Yawning a bit. Late night studying and training was beginning to get to her. But she was smiling. Definitely smiling. She had reasons to be smiling too. Of course, very few people knew those reasons. But her smiling faltered when she entered the classroom. Where was everything? Noelle looked around at some of the other students there. Then a look at the board. Okay. She put her things at the front and grabbed her wand. Noelle didn't think about where to sit but just took a seat nearest to where she was. Which happened to be by Randi and Matt. Hopefully they wouldn't mind |
Kaycee glanced around the room as she entered. Erm. Hello empty space. That was weird... She nodded a greeting to the Professor and did as the board said. She sat her bag at the front of the room and, taking only her wand with her, found an empty space She unceremoniously flopped into the spot and looked around. Anyone else confused? |
Skylar made her way to Charms class rather enthusiastically for various reasons. One, she was feeling way more confident with her ability to cast charms now that she was nearly done year one. She wasn't an expert on any stretch of the imagination but she was right where she needed to be in terms of her own abilities and learning curve which felt awesome! Though seeing an empty classroom did cause for some brief alarm on the first year's face as she read the note on the board. Just wands. Well she shouldn't even have brought her bag if she wasn't going to need it; except that she had come from another class and hadn't opportunity to return it to her dorm anyway. Setting her bag at the front with her peers' bags, Sky found an empty spot among her classmates and waited patiently for the lesson to begin. |
The room was just... vast and deserted and a little creepy, and it didn't make Dot feel any better that she had to leave her things at the front of the room. At least she had her wand. And her fists. And a bad attitude, so keep it frosty, Prof. The students who had arrived so far were scattered around the room, so Dot picked a random square in the middle near the back and seated herself primly. "Good day, Professor. I hope you're well." He looked grumpy, actually, but it wasn't one of those things you pointed out to someone. |
Julien stood watching all the students come into the room. He fully noticed that certain two were fully missing. He'd figure out why they weren't there later, but now it was time for class to start. Stepping forward towards where the students were sitting, he greeted all that greeted him. "Good day class. I hope you are ready for an interesting lesson." He thought it was interesting. "I know it isn't normal to see the class fully empty, but we will be using all the space today, so it had to be open." They would get to that later though. "As we get started today I want you to remember, there is nothing that will happen in this room that would harm you. I would never do that." He felt that after the detention he needed to make sure all the students new this. "There is also nothing you learn in here that you can't use later one. From entertainment to defending yourself. That is what this class is all about. Today's lesson is exactly that." Fun whil learning was the key of today's work. "What spells would you use if you thought a dangerous object carrying dangerous gasses was coming at you?" |
Ok... Sitting on the floor by the wall, with just his wand and not doing anything else got him feeling a little antsy. Usually at this point he'd be tapping a beat on the desk to the song in his head or doodling or something. So yes it was with great relief that Hadley decided to join him, greeting her with the Tenaciusly cheerful "Heya Hadz!" as well as a friendly bro fist in the air to Matt making the Charms room into a dance floor. Ah the inspirations an empty classroom gives eh? But right, class time. And hmm interesting question. Dangerous object with dangerous gasses? That could be any of a number of things. A more world renowned person might think of the crashing Hindenburg. Tenacius though, he was chuckling under his nose because all he could think of were STINK BOMBS. That and Family dinner with the Klumps. So what spells would he be using if Papa Klump decides to come barreling through towards him? Up goes the hand "Professor, I'd use a Shield charm as well as a Bubblehead charm" |
Olly was a bit confused about what was going on. His bag was up at the front of the room as per instructions, which was weird because he always had it with him in class. Why were they supposed to put all their stuff at the front? But he did have his wand, which was good at least. He supposed it did make sense that all they needed was their wand. This was Hogwarts after all. That day had been going pretty well. Olly was sitting on the floor and actually heard all the words that professor Primeaux was saying. He did usually feel safe, but the affirmation of that safety followed by that ominous question was a little suspicious to him. Something carrying dangerous gases? "I'd run away." Wait, the question had specifically asked what spell they would use. Right. Magical school and all. "What about a banishing spell? I'd just want to make it go away and that might work." |
Odd that Professor Primeaux would choose to start the lesson with a reminder that nothing here would harm them. Maybe they would deb doing something that seemed dangerous. What spells would she use if she thought a dangerous object carrying dangerous gasses was coming at her? The gears were turning in Penelope's head. What kind of object was it? How big was it? How far away was it? How fast was it moving? What kind of gas was in it? "You could use a bubble head charm to protect yourself from inhaling dangerous gases. To try to prevent the object from reaching you, you could use immobulus or arresto momentum, or banish it somewhere away from you with depulso, and put up a shield with a strong version of protego. A caterwauling charm might warn you when the object gets close to you if you can't see where it is." Depended on the exact situation. Would they be learning how to defend themselves against a similar but harmless object? Was that what all the open space was for? This was going to be an interesting lesson, hopefully not of the type where anyone could actually get hurt. |
Azura looked up at Professor Primeaux from her place on the wall as he started to talk and her brow furrowed a bit.. Why would anything happen to them in this room? The teachers would never hurt them.. But this was charms and she trusted Professor Primeaux! She gave him a small smile as if to convey that before listening carefully to his question, her hand went into the air but Tenacius was called on first and gave the answer she was going to give.. Still.. Azura kept her hand in the air and spoke when it was her turn. "I agree with Tenacius." The teen shot a smile at the boy who had helped her through the aforementioned obstacle course, |
With no notes to be taken down today Hady did what she did best. Listened. Silently remaining where she was sat on the floor and very much attentive taking in what was being said. What was this about them knowing he wouldn't harm them? They all should know that already, even the firsties. Lessons were set up to teach them something and not meant to get them injured even if that happened at times. The brunette looked around the empty room wondering what all they would be learning today if the room needed to be empty of everything. The question asked really got her thinking. It sounded interesting to say the least. Those around her were giving really good answers but one stuck out due to that it covered several situations in it's reply. "I agree with Penelope professor, the Bubble-head charm would really come in handy right away but then you'd also either want to stop of completely get rid of whatever the object was while making sure to protect yourself." This was one of those things that could play out so many different ways. Just because you did everything to keep yourself and others safe didn't mean that something else couldn't go wrong. Always expect the unexpected. |
