Term 41 Writing

SPOILER!!: TiaMarie's Writing

Hello. My name is Ariel, which is short for Aeriel because when I grow up my roots will be above ground. I'm told that I'm a very special type of plant and that's not just because of my owner, TiaMarie who I know will take good care of me and keep me free of infestations and clean. I'm a special plant because my roots won't ever touch the dirty soil. I prefer warm-temperatures and enjoy baths in direct sunlight. Although too much sunlight and I'll get old and wrinkly, but just the right amount.

I know TiaMarie will give me that right amount of sunlight and water me when I'm thirsty, which is quite often because I can't nutrients from the ground like some of my fellow plants.

Bugs and parasites will cling to my trunk, but I know TiaMarie will take care of them and get them off. I'll start as just a seedling, but when I grow up, I'll be big and strong and float in the sky, wherever I like.

But hold on,

... I can't talk

. . .

I'm being levitated over and away . . .

Off to Greenhouse Four where I'll be taking good care of!

SPOILER!!: Rooney's Writing

Far far away, in a land birthed long ago, there was nothing to do with this here tale of Simone. There was nothing to do with the love of Simone's life, Wicker, nor her best friend Cedar. In fact, there was nothing much in this far far away land. Nothing of interest to you or I, nothing of interest to the ground that so longs to be rooted by a tree.

Honestly, that land is out of this world.

But, back on our world, this world, the world we know and love.. There was a cluster of trees. A group of tree friends. Tree travellers, if you may.

The thing about trees, is that they live for hundreds of years, and the love of ones life is not defined by age in the tree world. It is just knowledge. Love, between trees, is just love. No questions, qualms or quarrels. However, being the oldest out of their group, sometimes meant that Simone was in a parental role for them all - something that she wasn't all too keen on. Especially when she had to instruct Wicker to keep up with the group, or find a new pack of relocating trees when he was suffering his time of the month: PSS. (Pre Sap Stress)

"My spurt is coming, Simone! I'll be bigger than you and then in charge," he insisted one day.

Simone scoffed, her leaves shaking in amusement and she stopped their entire group. "The thing about your growth spurt, Wicker, is that once I've had mine... I don't care about yours."

And with that, Simone resisted every bit of gravity possible and left the comfort of her ex-love and led her friends to that land we once spoke of.

Paradise.

SPOILER!!: Dot's Writing

Once upon a time, there was a Gravity Resistant Tree named Rooth. Rooth was a very beautiful tree, with long elegant branches that reached up to heaven and green leaves that framed her trunk like a halo, and a very thick root cluster. But in spite of this, Rooth was unhappy, because she was afraid of heights and wanted to dig her thick root cluster deep into the safety of the earth. She had high hopes that, when it rained or she floated up a hill, that somehow she would bump into the ground and get stuck there, but that's not how gravity works. Rooth wasn't a very smart tree, but trees don't have brains (just a lot of feelings).

One day, a bird landed on Rooth's branches and admired her elegant branches and green leaves. Rooth just sighed, the wind rustling through her leaves, and told the bird how much she wished that she could be planted in the ground.

"Don't be silly," the bird chirped at her. "Those trees in the ground never go anywhere. They're stuck in the mud forever and ever. But you are free, just like a bird. I'd much rather be a bird than not, and you should much rather be a flying tree than not." The bird's song made Rooth feel so MUCH better about being gravity resistant, and she decided to see the world properly and then return to tell the other trees about what she saw.

She was still afraid of heights, though, so she usually only visited valleys and not mountain tops, but it was still very exotic for a tree.

SPOILER!!: Paulina's Writing

Once upon a time there was a young girl named Samantha who lived in a small house at the edge of a forest. Because she lived in an isolated place, she did not have any friends besides animals and plants. They understood her though her parents never did. "I never feel alone when I'm with you," she would often tell the flowers that she liked to pick. They lived off of the path to her house, so they were never far from her.

One day while walking through a part of the forest she had never been to, she saw a sight that surely had been her imagination: there were FLOATING trees. Thinking she must be half asleep, she rubbed her eyes. Still there. Maybe she was asleep so she pinched her arm. "Ouch!"

She really was awake!!

Happily she ran towards one of the trees that was floating lower to the ground. It was young like her, so she gave it a hug. "You will be my new best friend and I will name you Howard." It seemed like a boy tree to her and that was the first name that popped into her head.

Samantha skipped off to pick some wild flowers to make matching wreaths for her and Howard. They would be their version of friendship bracelets.

Every day she would come and visit her special tree and tell him about her life and feelings. Sometimes he drifted further away, but he always came back down to her. Best friends never leave each other behind.

One day about a year after she met Howard, Samantha skipped over to see him, but stopped short when she reached his clearing. There was a horable sight before her. Someone had chopped down all the trees!!

Crying, she picked up the wreath that lay on the ground a few feet from her.

SPOILER!!: Adi's Writing

Woody the Gravity Resistant Tree was in a peculiar mood. He was a saaaad tree. His branches drooped, the leaves were paling from their usual bright colour and he was floating lower than usual. Why? Because all the other Trees thought he was weird. Every day he had to put up with them making fun of the fact that he was significantly smaller than them all. It wasn't his fault that he was stunted. He had no family and no friends. He was lonely. He wanted to leave this forest but he didn’t believe in himself enough to venture out on his own. Woody wished for the world to be a more accepting place.

One day, there was a new arrival to the forest. Two, rather. The identical looking Gravity resistant trees were just seedlings, about half of Woody’s height, wandered over to him. “Hello,’’ the said together. “Why are you alone?’’

“I have no friends,’’ Woody replied in a dejected tone as he looked at the twin Trees.

“We’ll be your friends! Now you’ll never be lonely again.’’

From that moment on, Woody was never a sad Tree. His physical appearance improved as did his self confidence. He believed in the world again, thanks to these two young, innocent Trees.

SPOILER!!: David's Writing

Once upon a time, there was a little seed named Salvatore. Sal the seedling lived in a container in his Herbologist's house. But every day, he looked out the window and saw his Herbologist fly off to work through the sky. Sal did not know what brooms were, but to fly is all he wanted to try. One day, Sal started floating. He even turned, so his roots could point to what he wanted: the sky. As he grew, his roots started stretching and growing too. Closer and closer and closer to the sky. Closer to the window, which gave him all the sun he needed for excellent photosynthesis. Closer to the butterflies, which could drift past his window with ease. Soon, spring came around, and the Herbologist left the window open.

Now was Sal's chance! Now he was going to be able to fly out the window! Sal, with his roots pointing high to the sky, began to float... higher and higher... out the window he went... and he didn't stop there! Sal became the first-ever anti-gravity tree, and he spread his seedlings all over the world, so Herbologists like his flying one could watch their plants touch the sky. And that's the true-life story of how anti-gravity trees came to be.
