This duel could only be better than the first one.
Like. She was NOT going to be TRICKED into losing again. But then again, this wasn't Zeke. Unfortunately, she also wasn't sure just HOW good a dueler Frankie was. With Zeke she'd expected him to be crazy good at least. Not sneaky though. Like that had been a REALLY sneaky move there.
Rude. He'd paid for it though. After.
So with a very charming smile on her lips Maggie entered the dueling arena. "Frankie." She greeted, still not entirely sure how to feel about this pairing. Like. This was Hady's boyfriend. And Zeke's friend. Maggie was also very pretty. All of these things could only work in her favor, right?
Totally.
After bowing politely Maggie waited for both of them to be ready. And then decided that Frankie was totally a gentleman and that rules of chivalry totally applied to a duel. So. Ladies first. "Everte Statum!" Welcome to the duel, Prefect Paton! May the odds be ever in your favor.
Or you know, preferably not.

Frankie had to admit the duelling lineup was rather ironic, a bit awkward even. His roommate was going head-to-head against his girlfriend, whereas he was going up against Zeke's girlfriend and his girlfriend's best friend. The blond was in a pickle. Should he take it easy on the blue-eyed Slytherin? Or dare he pull everything he had up his sleeve? Difficult decisions were difficult.
It was seeing her smile that made up the prefect's mind. Not once had he fallen for that precious smile of hers. Based on past experience, that smile more often than not meant something unwanted was coming. Even more so, this was a duel, and he couldn't trust someone fighting against him. So the boy flashed one of his own smiles at her. "Maggie," he greeted coolly, bowing to the pretty girl who was going down. He wasn't going to lose a duel against Magdalena Traulton.
With the greetings and whatnot behind them, he stood with his wand at the ready and waited for Maggie to make the first move. She was going to be the mood-setter for this duel. If she did anything to his hair, the beast was going to be released. Hopefully, though, no one's hair would be targeted this duel. He was willing to play nice if she was.
Having learned his lesson from his first duel that term, an incantation was already waiting to leave Frankie's lips. Just seconds after Maggie shot her spell at him, the blond shouted "Protego!" and prayed to Merlin that Maggie's spell bounced back at her as the invisible shield quickly formed. Without waiting to see where Maggie's spell ended up, though, another incantation came to his mind. She enjoyed dancing, right? "Tarantallegra!"

Aww, that was a little disappointing. Her spell hadn't caught him by surprise it seemed. Or at least not enough for it to hit him. What a shame. She would have liked to see that blond hair flying blowing in the wind. While he flew through the air and onto the floor that is. Alas, Frankie had managed to cast a shield just in time. Oh well, that only-
..............that spell was coming back.
With a little shriek of surprise Maggie tried to duck out of the way to dodge the spell heading her way. Without success however. Ouch! Rude. Using her own spells against her. Pfft. That meant- "Protego!" Sheesh. She could NOT catch a break here. Seriously, she really had to pay better attention to this duel. Still sitting on the floor, Maggie held up her wand to ensure that dancing spell didn't hit her.
Funny choice by the way. Very funny.
Mostly to distract him, Maggie sent a Bat-Bogey Hex his way, merely whispering the words to herself in hopes that he didn't hear her. Or see her cast the spell in the first place. Either way, it would hopefully give her enough time to get back off the floor.
Okay, seriously, maybe she SHOULD get Zeke to practice with her.

The Gryffindor couldn't stop himself from smirking when he heard Maggie shriek. Clearly he had surprised her a little, as evident by her trying to dodge the deflected spell without success. A small part of him felt bad about the whole ordeal as his roommate and girlfriend were thick as thieves with her, but this was a duel after all. It would be just wrong for him to hold back completely.
A nod of approval was given to Maggie after she built the shield between herself and the dancing jinx. Frankie was a bit disappointed that he wouldn't get to see her dance uncontrollably any time soon, but he was rather impressed by the fact that she was defending herself from the ground.
But what was she whispering about? A look of puzzlement appeared on the blond's face as he waited for something to happen. Was she trying to be tough by not screaming? Or did she-- Suddenly there was an odd feeling coming from his nose, as if something was trying to escape through his nostrils. Moments later little bat bogies flew out and started attacking him. Clever, he thought, for the moment distracted from coming up with a spell or two to cast back at Maggie.
After swatting at the winged bogies for about twenty seconds, Frankie eyed Maggie. Well, two could play the quiet spell-casting game. Fixating his wand directly at her, the prefect muttered a quiet "Steleus" and green rings shot out of his wand. He was hopeful that this distracted Maggie long enough to prevent her from hearing him mutter "Expelliarmus," causing a scarlet light to closely following behind the green rings.

That was really really really REALLY gross. Like, maybe she should have thought of that BEFORE casting the spell. Maggie was most definitely making a mental note not to use that spell again. Even though it was very effective. Frankie appeared to be very much distracted and gave her more than enough time to get back off the floor and get herself together again.
Still. Gross. She would never look at Frankie the same way.
Was Hady watching?
Well wasn't he just the biggest copycat? The whispering spells thing was cute but it wouldn't..........okay, it HAD worked. Despite her heavy sneezing (UGH, ANNOYING!! but better than having your own bogeys attack you for sure), Maggie tried to stay focused. She had to...no...she knew that spell.
MAGDALENA NATALIE TRAULTON WOULD NOT BE DISARMED AGAIN!!!
"Pro-" She sneezed. "-tego. Protego!" Her shield came up just in time to protect her from the spell heading her way. No, Sir. Now this sneezing would have to go but she doubted Frankie would give her enough time to do that so instead she pressed her tongue against her palate and took a deep breath. "Carpe Retractum!" She managed to get the spell out JUST in time before her next sneezing fit. Unfortunately it wasn't as strong as she would have hoped.
Now.....how are you with ropes, Prefect?
Ready for us to reel you in?

The bogies had been distracting, yes, but he was glad to have countered that with something that was just as distracting. Maggie was having a round of sneezing, which had to have made duelling a little more difficult. And it looked like his disarming charm was about to hit too ... but slight disappointment was felt when Frankie realized that the Slytherin had cast a shield charm in the knick of time. It was impressive, but her blocking his spell wasn't exactly working in his favour. The sneezing fits, though, would do. For now.
Frankie found himself not having enough time to react to the spell that Maggie casted at him. In fact, he expected her to be too busy sneezing up a storm to cast anything at him. But, lo and behold, she had caught him off guard as she pulled herself together, shooting a rope at him before having another sneezing fit. UGH.
The rope tightened around him, and the prefect found himself being reeled in closer to Maggie. Slowly but surely, the blond staggered toward her. This was not cool. Frankie Paton did not like being manhandled. And Maggie was the last person on earth who should have been doing that. He eyed her and then, with a flick of his wand, firmly stated, "Finite."
Immediately following a flash of red and the rope being no more, he shot a quick grin at Maggie. She was rather ticklish, right? "Rictusempra!" he shouted, a silver light erupting from his wand. He slowly stepped backwards, distancing himself from Maggie, as the spell headed right for her stomach.

Maggie smirked at him when he was pulled closer by her spell. They did need more one on one time really. Maybe this was their chance to get to know each other better. They could braid each other's hair and share secrets. So, do come closer, Frankie. They'd have SO much to talk about.
Or not.
She almost pouted when he used Finite to stop the effects of the spell. Rude. But at least it seemed like the effects of his sneezing spell were wearing off too. And right when she thought that Maggie sneezed again. Ugh. Okay. Was that the last of it then? Pleaaase? "Protego!" At least the not-sneezing thing held long enough for to cast the spell again.
And was he trying to get away from her? Pfft. Rudeness.
Maggie followed him, stepping forward with every step he took backwards. It meant she had to be quicker but so did he. So proximity in a duel might still have its perks. "Colloshoo." She directed the spell at Frankie's shoes. Like, gosh, she wasn't that scary. Stay put. We like you.
"Expelliarmus!" Have some of that too.

Was that sneezing spell wearing off? What a bummer. It had been such a good distraction, he sneezing every few seconds. But sadly spells didn't last forever, just like her rope-pulling nonsense didn't last forever. Frankie certainly didn't want to be physically close to Maggie. Why in Merlin's beard she insisted on that, he didn't know. It was just plain weird.
He sighed quietly when his tickling charm had been defended against. That sneezing charm had definitely run its course, otherwise he was willing to bet a handful of galleons that it would have worked and Maggie would have been laughing uncontrollably. His spell not being effective caused Frankie to be more alert, watching Maggie far too closely than he would have liked. WHY WAS SHE STEPPING WITH HIM?! STEP AWAY FROM THE PREFECT!
Suddenly his feet weren't moving, which meant that his opponent was up to something. Oh no you don't! he thought, casting the Shield Charm while she was casting her Disarming Charm. He was not falling for that. His wand was staying right in his hand, thank you very much. After the invisible shield went up and sent the spell elsewhere, the Gryffindor put an end to the glue nonsense with Finite.
Now with Maggie even closer, the blond took the opportunity to put his Transfiguration spells to use by quietly transforming Maggie's ears to kumquats. If she couldn't hear the spells he was casting, the better off he would be -- even more so if she was terrible at reading lips. Once the spell was cast, he flicked his wand in a whip-like motion and cried, "Ventus!"

Maggie WAS trying to throw him off his game with her actions. Maybe he'd get distracted by her pretty blonde hair and miss the spells she was sending his way. And that was EXACTLY what happened too. Nope, she wouldn't accept any other reason for why her first spell had hit him. And she felt very smug.
VERY smug.
While she'd learned that she shouldn't get distracted by her own smugness, Maggie was in fact a little disappointed when her disarming spell didn't work. Meh. That would've been such a great way to end the duel. And then he was un-glueing his shoes too and Maggie was totally ready and expecting an offensive spell from him. Yes, totally ready. She basically had her-

She staggered backwards a little but quickly raised her wand. "Finite Incantatem!" Yes take THAT! Now she could hear again and didn't have to worry about being blown away. She WAS really skinny after all. It could happen.
Not losing a lot of time after her first spell, she quickly followed it up with an offensive one. "Flipendo Duo!" THERE! That's what he got for not wanting to be close to her. Maybe he'd slam his back into the wall. Was that far enough away from her for him??

At least the Professor didn't have to worry about the use of pet names in this little duel. But what he did have to worry about was how........ stiff this duel was. It almost deemed as if they really wanted to take the other out no matter what happened. Was this pride?
Whatever it was, the man stood where he was, just watching the duel unfold. One spell he didn't expect to come up was Carpe Retractum. It wasn't your average dueling spell and it was because of this that the man perked up so much when it came up. There was a reason why it wasn't really used. What exactly was Miss Traulton trying to achieve here?
It seemed as if he wasn't about to find out anytime soon. When the time was up, he struck up that magical shield and moved closer towards the two. "Well done, Miss Traulton, Mr Paton. That was a very good duel." Cue a flick, which should take away any lasting effects from any of the recent spells. "And...... Mr Paton, congratulations! You've won this duel round. Keep up the good work!" Really. These were duels he liked.
