The Great Hall is flanked by two large, thick, wooden doors that often make a BANG! sound when flung open by dramatic students and/or staff. There are large, beautiful glass windows at the end of the Hall above the staff dais, the usual enchanted ceiling over everyone, and the four regular house tables lined up neatly in the middle.
Whether you make an entrance or choose to simply enter the Great Hall, you'll still be wowed by its size and architecture every time. You might also be pleased to notice the general upgrade in cleanliness, and perhaps a light, pleasantly clean scent from the candles floating above all the tables. Isn't it nice, what money can do for a school?

Benny had followed the influx of students towards the Great Hall, however he lingered at the entrance for once. His feeling about the feast were mixed, excited for a new term but also knowing this would be the last start-of term feast. Plus there were bound to be changes like Botros' promotion and Truebridge's departure to deal with. Not to mention lingering drama after what he had done on the train. His eyes flitted absently to the Gryffindor table in search of one or more familiar faces that he wasn't sure he wanted to deal with right now.
Once they had gotten off of the boats that the first years had to take to get to the castle, Henry couldn't help but to take his time getting inside. He wasn't too far behind the group - he certainly didn't want to get lost, but everything was so big and amazing that he had to take it all in.
Even just the entrance hall was pretty awesome and he stood looking around at the interior for a moment until he became increasingly aware of two things. One, he was rather hungry as his grumbling tummy told him and he had wished that he had saved some of his snacks or not eaten them all so early into the trip. And two, he could hear just beyond those doors what sounded like a whole lot of people. Of course he knew there were a lot of students, or at least he guessed, from the train. But, as he peered inside, the vast number became more apparent.
The thought of everyone watching him when he knew virtually no one made him slightly nervous, but the thought faded just a little as his eyes soon wandered around the great hall from the doorway. Floating candles and the ceiling looked just like the sky... amazing!

Noelle had practically fallen from the boats when trying to get through to the castle. She was lagging behind but definitely trying to catch up. She didnt want to miss all the craziness that was about to happen. Besides, she didnt know what was going to happen besides the Sorting Hat. That's all her mum had told her about. She was delightfully happy about the sorting hat. She was ready to be in Hufflepuff, like her mum, or in Gryffindor, like her mum thought she would be in.
She noticed a familiar face as she got to the doors. She looked over him as he peeked inside the doors. Noelle grinned and looked through to see what it was like inside as well. Lots of students. They made her heart race.... but in a good way. Excited way. She was ready to get on that stool sitting up there and have that hat put on her head. She wanted.. no.. NEEDED to know which house she was to be in.
Noelle looked at the boy. "youre... I saw you on the train correct?" She asked smiling at him. She was loosing track of all the faces she was meeting. "Are you nervous?" She asked not waiting for the question she asked to be answered. She saw the way he looked. She noticed him look up at the ceiling. Looking up, Noelle gasped. "That.... is amazing." She said breathlessly.

Henry was still taking a moment for himself to absorb all of the sights before he followed the rest of the first years inside when he felt a presence next to him and a voice at his side. Turning slightly, he saw a familiar looking girl standing near him and he gave her a small smile.
"Oh, hi. Yeah, I think so. I'm Henry." In case she didn't know, and he wasn't quite sure he remembered her name anyway. He was pretty sure he remembered her from the train though. Hadn't she been in line to get some sweets from the food trolley too? It was hard to keep track of everyone when he had seen or met so many people today. He shrugged a little at her next question. "Yeah, I guess. Are you?" He was pretty nervous, he'd have to admit. But more because there were so many people - most of them bigger than him - that he didn't know.
He glanced at her again as she gasped, then grinned as he followed her gaze. "Isn't it though? This place is so cool already." And they were barely inside. He could only imagine what else there was.

Henry. His name sounded familiar. Maybe she had heard it on the train. Anyways, she beamed at him. "Hi Henry! I'm Noelle Grace Summers!" She eagerly put out her hand to shake his. Mum had taught her manners were key. She was such a hufflepuff. Had she already told him her name? She couldn't remember. She was forever telling someone her name and besides, she wanted him to remember her name.
"I'm nervous... But more excited than anything. To finally be at Hogwarts and get sorted! I've been waiting for this moment when mum told me all about the Sorting when I was seven!" Noelle tended to blabber when she was excited.
She looked again at the candles and then back again. "Well shall we?" She asked and slipped her hand into his for confidence. It's what she did with her little brother when he was scared or nervous to do something new. "We can do this together."
