Tia was freaking out the whole way down the first floor where the dueling club was to be held. She wasn't just meant to duel someone her own age this time, but rather she had to go up against someone with an extra year of magical education on her. He could probably cast non-verbals in his sleep though she hoped not cause that thought frightened her.

Palms sweaty, she took a deep breath. She was smart and witty. She could do this. Six years of magical education, the past two and half at Hogwarts, surely she must have learned some sort of technique. Bravery was not her forte though; she would leave that to Benjamin as long as he left her the smarts. Except she was pretty sure he was smart too. Taking a quick and polite bow at the older boy, she kept her gaze on his expression cautiously and as she stood up straight, she cast "Accio wand!" if she succeeded, she might have a chance at the duel.

When the new list duels and partners had gone up, Benny had to admit he had been taken back by the name currently against his. And no...not because she was a girl...but because of the year. Was it fair to pair them off when he had extra knowledge? Even if he admittedly wasn't a defense expert in any sense of the term. As he had made his way to the dueling arena, the seventh year had made up his mind to let Tia go first if he had the option. Not just to be a gentleman but to attempt to see what she might have in the way of skill level.

If only a brief peek.

Tia bowed once they were in position and he returned it, watching and waiting for what was to come. He was prepared to either move or shield for whatever spell she opted for, each choice the first line of defense against most of the options available to them for the course of the duel. However the spell of choice that Tia had started them off with provided another. Benny's first reaction was to hold onto his wand even tighter as the Ravenclaw attempted to get it away from him. No defense...just reaction.

Of course it was not without fault. The seventh year Gryffindor finding himself pulled in the direction of his dueling opponent as her spell attempted to get at his wand still. "Finite!" he cast to end her own spell to release himself from the pull. He surely couldn't do much with his wand threatening to be yanked out of his grasp and making him wandless. Then he was left with just physical defenses until he could manage to get ahold of it once more.

"Obscuro!" Benny cast quickly after it, aiming it at the younger girl in hopes of recouping from his faulty start.

Tia was prepared that Benjamin would defend himself because he was older and really the summoning spell wasn't meant to cause harm or maim him, but just as a deterrent until she figured out a better tactic. And it seemed to work well enough in at least in using up some of his energy to hold onto his wand.

However, once he negated the spell, she knew she only had seconds before he would deflect something on her, so just seconds before he cast his spell of choice, the sixth year uttered another charm, "Protego!" to shield against charms and jinxes and deflect it back at him (hopefully).

And as she heard his spell choice, she was grateful, even though she was pretty sure dueling blindfolded wouldn't be the worst thing in the world except she wouldn't be able to see her target.

"Cantis!" she cast again after hearing the blindfold spell. She just hoped Benjamin was a good singer ... though after casting it, she almost wished she'd cast the babbling charm instead.

Unfortunately for him, she was too quick to shield, the action seeming to take place even before or just as he cast the blindfolding spell in her direction. So no having an opponent that was deterred by not being able to see her opponent. The spell bouncing back against the phantom shield that developed before her in response to her cast causing him to have to dodge. Too bad, but he didn’t have any time to dwell for all to soon there was another spell heading his way.

Oh sooooo not getting caught by that spell!

He’d had enough experience with getting hit by and suffering through it in his duels with Adi. “Protego!” it was his turn to cast, thankfully saving him from singing but sending it back. Benny just didn’t think he was all that great a singer and needed his speaking voice to defend himself and continue the dueling for now. As for his spell towards Tia, he switched from offense to defense and cast once more.

"Flipendo!" The Gryffindor watching as the blue light of the spell zoomed towards the Ravenclaw.

Expecting to hear the next word's out of the seventh year to be in singing voice, Tia was surprised (or maybe not) that he too used the shield charm. Well fine then, shield it up, Atreyu. Except not, as her own spell rebounded towards her, to which she quickly dove over out of the way. Missed that one.

But not fast enough, as Atreyu was quick and cast the knockback jinx on her, to which she felt herself, well ... knocked back! She saw the blue light, but unfortunately just a second too late to make another dive out of the way, as she took the spell to her shoulder, knocking her back on her bottom. From the floor, however, the sixth year took instead to using her aim of being low to the ground to aim her wand at the ground where Benjamin was standing. "Glacius duo!" she flicked her wand, watching as the light shot from her wand tip. If it worked, at least she'd have something gained from this duel. They would both have injured their bottoms; unless of course Atreyu was a closet ice-skater....

While it would have been interesting to see what tactics Atreyu would have used against an ice spell, the grandfather clock in the corner of the room deemed it not so. It's toll rung out through the dueling space, and had Sabel moving away from his perch.

A flick of his wand and the blue shield screen shot up between the duelers, catching Tia's final spell and fizzling it out with a 'pop'. Water sprinkled down into the dueling space as Sabel stepped up between them.

"The winner of the second duel, Benjamin Atreyu!" And because the kids liked it, he sent off a small golden spark above the Gryffindor's head. His acknowledgement however, was for both of them. "Job well done."

However if you would like to duel a Professor from the club, please VM or PM me (and I will check with the chosen professor) This will be a 'for fun' challenge duel, if you decide to do so (and should not replace the duel with the student you are paired up with, so please consider your own time constraints/options).
