The classroom was ordinary this morning. The desks were lines perfectly in three long rows, nametags were put on each desk indicating where everyone sat during their last class. It was cold outside but the classroom had a tad extra warmth in it than anywhere else in the castle (maybe except Botros' office which was always heated extra). Botros stood by his big desk leaning on his cane/staff and waiting for the students' arrival.
ooc: - Lesson will start in about 12 hrs from now, so you can post your character walking in.
- Today's lesson will not be too Runes-related but rather blending with the school's camps, so I encourage you to attend even without being knowledgeable about runes!

No runes today? OH MAN. She KNEW this was going to be a good day. Well. It was supposed to be a good day no matter what, but this just made it a whole lot better. Denying it would just be lying. Runes just didn't make sense, okay?
This made sense, though. This talking about people thing made more sense than anything they'd ever done in any class in her whole entire Hogwarts career. Maybe she was even good at it. As soon as it became her turn, she announced, "Zeke is brave" in her most confident voice. That was probably the fastest she'd ever come up with an answer for anything, because she KNEW it was true. He went to DETENTION and LIVED. IMAGINE THAT.

..... He was trying to shake it off sir, but also IT WAS EIGHT AM. A lesson at eight am. WHO EVEN DID THAT? Like Zander understood that the guy was Headmaster now and had loads of other duties to take care of... But eight am? Really? The duties couldn't even wait a little bit longer?
But he was going to pretend to be chipper. Well, he was going to attempt to pretend he was chipper. Except how the heck could he compare to Sophie who practically skipped into class looking like she had just saved an entire village, baked the world's largest breakfast muffin, and found the meaning of life. How she did it all before 8am? Well, that part was still a mystery. But she looked awfully too energetic. Zander needed her secret. He'd ask her when he was mentally ready to remember things.
But right now, his brain was running on the extra slow function. Because it was EIGHT IN THE MORNING. And what Botros said about brains being best in the early hours was most definitely a lie. Zander knew it.
And honestly, he hadn't listened to a good 93% of what Botros had just said, but the one thing that did make it through the seventh year's thick skull was the part about NOT DOING RUNES TODAY???? Okay scratch everything. Zander took it all back. He would gladly do an eight am class if it meant no runes.... Which also meant, uh, what would they be doing instead? Now Zander was suspicious. Taking the part about taking the part back back. er. Yeah. That.
And this first activity?
You sure could take the man out of Hufflepuff, but you couldn't take the Hufflepuff out of the man.
Norah is... enthusiastic," and also a Hufflepuff. She and Botros were of the same breed.

Making Botros laugh was a VERY good feeling, and Sophie BEAMED in response to the man's words, even though it was just a basic greeting. But she'd made him LAUGH. Which was, of course, encouragement for her to keep greeting him that way forevermore.
And so she would.
When class got started, Soph got settled into her seat, looking attentive but at ease, and her expression grew curious the more Botros continued along. Not... entirely rune-centered today? Curious. But... this was cool, and none of this was stuff she didn't already know. Sophie LOVED Hogwarts, she had even before she was old enough to attend, and she was living her childhood dream by even just attending, let alone being Head Girl. All the wisdom the man was sharing about making the most of the experience and relating it to the outside world was... not... entirely helpful, though, and made a sinking feeling occur in her chest.
Thanks for the reminder that it would ALL BE OVER SOON, HEADMASTER. MERLIN.
But the activity at hand provided a good distraction, and it made her smile when the order around the room started in such a way that SHE would be the one who would get to say something about Zander instead of the other way around. SHE got to choose his word, which was VERY exciting and appropriate. If other people had gotten Zander, they may have said something like goofy or silly or clumsy or paranoid or an adjective that was NOT entirely encompassing of who Zander was as a person.
So, when it was her turn and Zander talked about Norah, Soph smiled and brightly chose the word, "Indescribable, 'cause there's too much good about him to choose just one word." He was all of the good ones. Zander Adair was indescribably enchanting.

Paulina wasn't exactly sure how to feel right now.
On one hand they weren't going to be going into depth in regards to runes this lesson - which was a blessing. On the other hand, she was going to be put on the spot describing the person next to her. A person she didn't KNOW. This should be interesting...
As her classmates shared their contributions, Paulina tried to think of something she could say. She wasn't good with being put on the spot; it was never good for people who were shy. If she was sitting next to Adi or Benny this would be easier. Oh well. Nothing else for it because it was her turn.
"Sophie is kind." At least that was the impression she had gotten.

YeeeuGHHHHH. Gross. Ellery visibly shuddered when Ms. Head Girl (Sophie) gushed about her BOYFRIEND. Blech. Did she have to be so LOUD about it all? Yuck yuck yuck.
Also, Ellery was annoyed that they weren't actually doing runes yet. That's the whole reason she was HERE, because being taught by the headmaster was NOT appealing, to be honest.
Ellery was good at knowing names. She had learned people's names pretty quickly through observation. But she knew nothing about Paulina.
"Paulina is….person." Because 'a person' was TWO words.

Grandfatherly pats from Botros! Adi was used to these, having received them from since his first year. And yes, he was WIDEEE awake having gotten up early as usual for his morning run with Marsha. "Heya, Benny!'' Adi paused in flipping through his book to grin at his bestie. He vaguely wondered why on earth their seats were not together for this class. Maybe they hadn't been besties then? Or hadn't known each other when the seats were assigned. Yeah, that would be it but Adi DID remember whom he used to sit right next to during his first classes in this room. Sander Strand. He missed the dude.

Hmmm. This certainly was interesting. Adi was sort of pleased that they weren't doing anything rune related. He SUCKED at the subject, you know. A break from it in the actual classroom was awesomeeee!
But this game was cool! The Hufflepuff listened to the others as they described the person before them while he waited for his turn. "Ellery is amusing,'' he said, remembering her antics in the Potions class where she wrote those instructions on the black board.

No runes class today? Did that mean he had dragged his book with him for nothing? Ugh he had got to start checking the noticeboard like he checked on his appearance. Shoving the textbook back in his bag, Yoongi listened to what else the Headmaster had to say.
Say something about another person? As Yoongi looked at Ava he began to think how he would describe her. He did curl up his upper lip as Sophie began to describe Zander in a disgustingly loving way. It was kinda cute but he was sure she was just embarrassing him without noticing.
Oh, his turn. What was Ava? She was misschievous, stubborn, a weird nickname caller... "Ava is helpful" it was the most friendliest that came up. And she kind of was? True she laughed at him at the tree house but at the same time she did help him with his phobia training. So eventhough she had been totally RUDE and kept LAUGHING at how scared he had been, she still helped him out.

Oh. This was.. different.. interesting?? Olympia didn't really know why the headmaster was going for this angle, but she was just gonna roll with it.
Say something about the person sitting next to you hm.. So Olympia turned in her seat and her grey eyes fell on.. Yoongi. Oh Lord. Inwardly sighing, Olympia's brain began to tick as she tried to think of a word that she could use.
Of course the first word that came to her was vaaaain; he was very conscious of his appearance, and she knew from a reliable source that he probably had more lotions and creams than all the witches in her family combined. "Yoongi issss.." Olympia narrowed her eyes, then smiled. "Yoongi is entertaining! She had suddenly remembered the 'Muggle magic' he had showed her in the common room and the firework thingys he had let off.. and the hole he had burnt in their Common Room's carpet.......
Angel listened to the Headmaster as he spoke about playing a sort of game, when he asked her if she was well, she replied that she was... she was getting over everything that had happened at the start of term and now she just wanted to concentrate on getting ready for her OWLs exams.
Angel then heard what the Headmaster said next and then she smiled as she realise they were playing a sort of game, she didn't know who this Olympia girl was but she thought she would just say something anyway. "Olympia is..." Angel thought about what she could say. "Olympia is awesome!" Yeah that was the word she would use.

It was time for class to begin and Janelle was ready. It seemed that they were going to have a different kind of lesson today. She listened as Headmaster Botros gave his opening monologue and talked about life at Hogwarts. Janelle pondered his words. Grown ups always said to enjoy your school years because you can never get that time back. It was hard to "get it" when you were young and living in the moment, but she did try to enjoy every minute of her Hogwarts experience.
Now the activity. Janelle sat up straighter as that was explained. This was going to be fun. A smile came to her face because the person sitting by her was easy to talk about. "Angel is a great partner and a pretty amazing cat." Working on Potions homework with Angel had been fun and pretty hilarious. That would definitely be a part of Janelle's Hogwarts memories.

This was such a lovely game! And all the words were so nice and positive and that just made Rusty very happy. It gave the energy in the room a little buzz when people were being nice, and that was one of her favourite feelings ever!
As for Janelle... Rusty knew almost nothing about the older girl, so it took her a few seconds of quiet observing to come up with something. She watched the girl a little - or rather, watched a space just a few millimeters away from the girl... Red aura. That meant she was... "Janelle is enthusiastic." Rowan said, sending the girl a big smile. It also meant energetic... and a few other things. But that was the one that jumped out at her. So there it was.

That was the most inspiring thing he'd heard in a long time and Blaise actually took it upon himself to scribble it down with a normal quill as opposed to giving his quick quotes a chance to mess it up even a little. Sure it was still scribbling and he would let it just to see how creatively it went but this was the sort of quote that needed to be as was.
Not only did it remind him he was in a great place when he didn't feel like it most times but it also promised no work. No work meant less chance for a bad grade SO he was more likely to get off Academic Probation. Only thing was...if his other grades were fine, and he was only on it because he was defiantly avoiding two lessons...was there extra credit to make up for those?
The boy sat forward in his seat, listening for the instructions that would be given. They were easy enough. He could do that. No sweat.
Let's see...the next person was.....Rusty! The girl in his house. He'd seen her around the Common Room once or twice which made it less likely he'd have nothing to say.
"Rusty is...observant." Why? Because she was watching that girl just now for some reason and the word just seemed to stick.

So they would be learning runes but not like they were use to learning it. Maybe Dante was still to tired to fully understand what was going on right now. But he did get that they would be playing one of those pointless games you do when you are first meeting people in a group or something.
Dante hated games like this. what if he had no idea who the person was going before him. That he would have to make up some quality about them Not that he was against that or anything. It was just annoying. Great now it was his term and he did not know Blaise good enough to know a word to describe him. Plus he did not really want to copy words that were already said. So....oh well time to fall back on one of his favorite words.

Hady wasn't sure about this game that they were supposed to playing. Saying something about someone else that sat beside them. In just one word. Yeah sometimes that wasn't an easy thing to do. Especially if you didn't know the person.
When it was almost her turn Hady shifted her hazel eyes to land on the person nearest her. Dante. Right. So um what did she know about the boy besides he was in Slytherin like herself and also a fourth year. Sadly not much even though they had done the Potions homework together.
"Dante is...entertaining." Mhmm. Yeah that would work. Even with how awkward that assignment had been they made it work. It had even been fun really and now she could laugh about it. So entertaining would work.

Botros waved his wand at the blackboard to write down all the adjectives the students were calling their classmates. Some were good, others were... too mellow and indefinite. They all served the purpose of this class, though.

When they were done, Botros called for their attention again. "You see that list behind me? That is what you, classmates for more than one year, know about each other. If we compile the adjectives you used for each other on the other side, we'd get;"
"We have a class full of students who repeated more than one adjective to describe their classmates and they're mostly indefinite words, like enthusiastic, amusing or indescribable. What does that tell us about each other?" He paused, letting them answer his question in their heads. "It tells us that even though we spend most of our seven years here together, we barely give each other enough time to get acquainted. I'm not talking about your close group of friends. It's more rewarding when you spend enough time with a complete stranger every day here in school." Let's focus on that last three words, yes? School. Not outside world. "Whiiiich is what we're going to do today!" Abraham beamed and clapped his hands once.
The lists on the blackboard mushed together and formed a brand new list. "Those of you who haven't managed to conjure a proper adjective for their classmates are asked to spend the rest of this class with each other. You're allowed to go outside the classroom and take a walk in the castle or out on the grounds provided that you come back here in an hour's time to report back what you learned about your partner." Botros was smiling confidently at everyone.

...HEHEHEHEHEHE. The man didn't know the Head Boy and Girl were DATING, did he? That they were IN LOVE? Merlin, the man interpreted her lack of definitive word choice as IGNORANCE. As... her not knowing Zander at all, which was HILARIOUS. So much so that the Head Girl was actually laughing. Her hand over her mouth, she tried to stifle her giggles, but... she peeked over at Zander and snorted.
She almost raised her hand to argue, to explain that no, her word choice did NOT mean that she needed to get acquainted with Zander - it meant that she wanted to present a GRAND GESTURE to EMBARRASS HIM by letting the whole world know she didn't have just one word to describe her boyfriend. He was TOO GOOD to describe in just one word, and she actually thought Zander would've picked a vague word for her, too, for the same reason. He wouldn't have just settled for brilliant or fun or anything he'd told her she was before because... they loved so much about each other. How could she be EXPECTED to choose just one of his wonderful traits, King Botros?
At least everyone in the class knew that, but no one was probably going to have the bravery to inform Botros that the Head couple assigned as partners were an actual couple. Still, it was MEGA funny that they were supposedly STRANGERS who had to spend the rest of class together. Was it cheating to remain partners? Perhaps. But who was to argue with the Headmaster?

"Hi, partner. Mister Stranger. Guess we're a COUPLE." Botros' word choice, not hers, and she reached over and grabbed Zander's hand to stand up with him, giggles accompanying her words. "Sorry for not knowing you well enough. Guess I'll need to work on that," she siiiiighed dramatically, leading him over, excited to get their flashcard and see just WHAT kind of questions they needed to ask each other. Would it be stuff she already knew? Or WOULD she actually learn something new about him? EXCITING TIMES AT HOGWARTS.

Reagan had been uncharacteristic quiet ever since taking her seat in the Ancient Runes classroom...and NO, it hadn't been the early hour that been the issue. She simply had a lot on her mind. So, she'd not offered an observation about anyone. It seemed strange since this was right up her alley...but alas...
Even the happiest people had off days, you know?
When the Professor (slash Headmaster) announced the partner activity, Rea looked up, slightly startled. Well, this was awkward. She'd not spoken up...Therefore...she'd not been paired with anyone. Of all the days to be overly reflective...
"Professor Botros, could you pair me with someone?"

Daxton had actively avoided the first activity, without even looking to see who he was sat beside. It was all that... social stuff... understanding each other... knowing each other, and he wanted nothing to do with it. So he had stayed quiet, kept his head down, and read more from his textbook until it was time to move on.
... At which point he realised that this was not a class he was going to enjoy. Daxton did not like 'get to know you' activities, because he did not want to get to know anyone, and he wanted people to get to know him even less.
Letting out a annoyed sigh, because he had wanted to learn about runes, not be social, Daxton closed his textbook with a snap and looked at the others in the room with an unhappy expression on his face. What was the likelihood he could leave with everyone else and disappear without being noticed? He had not been given a partner, so... it was possible.

Looking it over it was easy to notice that a few words had been said more then once but really what was wrong with that? Yes she had to admit it was sad that she didn't know more about Dante since they were in the same house but most could be said about nearly everyone. That wasn't all that many people in the school she did know incredibly well.
And then that happened. Really they were being paired up?! Hady blinked several times as she watched her name move around the board to be paired up with someone. Benny. Well alright then. She knew a few things but not much. Grabbing her quill and a clean sheet of parchment the Slytherin slipped from her seat and wandered over to Benny. "Hello partner," she greeted simply. "It looks like we're going to be working together for a bit so....uh where would you like to go?" You know, so they could talk or whatever. Get these questions answered and all that jazz. Some scary questions she didn't even think her best friend knew.

This was the weirdest thing Zander had ever done in a class. And he had done a lot of weird things in a class. So that was saying something.
Anyways. He hadn’t realized that Sophie would be the one to go right after him. Which only meant he didn’t have time to prepare for the embarrassment that was to come. Because knowing Sophie Brown, she was about to take full advantage of the moment, wasn’t she? ….. Welp. He wasn’t wrong. But he was turning pink.
Indescribable? REALLY? And cue the Zander shrinking down into his seat. Ahem.
And just as soon as he thought the lesson couldn’t get any more Hufflepuff. WAIT LOL WHAT!??
Zander almost burst out into laughter noticing he and Sophie were paired up with each other. Didn’t the Headmaster know they were dating? And uh, if not, didn’t he know they were CoHeads? That meant they had to spend lots of time together with planning and… wait a minute. This was absolutely brilliant.
This was the absolute best day of his life. Because it meant NO LESSON HE WAS FREEEEE!! Well, sort of free. Because technically it was still apart of the class assignment, but hanging out with Sophie Brown was something he did practically every day. So this was absolutely and utterly BRILLIANT. And it probably meant that they wouldn’t have homework either. Zander LOVED THIS. Could they have a nonrunes class EVERY CLASS????
Ahem. So no, he would not say anything to Botros about his choice in pairs. Hehe. So what if it was cheating?
Also he almost cackled at the couple thing. Sophie pls. ”Merlin, Soph. You think an hour will really be enough time? We’ve got loads of learning to do.” Meaning could they just chill at the treehouse instead? And maybe snog. Ahem. If she was up for it. La la la.
So uh, they had the flashcard now… They were free to go, right? ”Let’s head out, stranger”

That hadn't exactly been the type of word Benny was expected out of Dot's lips about him when her turn was up. Benny's interaction with the Slytherin was limited but he supposed they weren't total strangers. Still didn't mean he was all that comfortable answering whatever the four questions were. About to get up to find his partner, the fourth year was already there saying hello. "Hey...." the seventh year returned. "So it does." As for location...he tried to think of what was around that might provide a decent local that wasn't the actual classroom.

Dot was pleased as pumpkin juice that her word had made it on the acceptable list, and then mortified beyond belief that someone had called her intelligent. She was a dummy, actually, and it was something she felt BAD about, and then this person... had they done it to make fun of her, or did they honestly not know?

Phillip stared at the Headmaster Sir and then at the blackboard and then back at the Headmaster Sir again. Partner work? But he didn't HAVE one. He couldn't sit there and answer questions about HIMSELF. Or, well, he COULD but it would be a bit boring, wouldn't it?
Besides, he wanted to find out things about OTHER PEOPLE. These questions were interesting. About secrets. Secrets he could find out. Yeah......... interesting.

Leaning against Benny's desk she eyed him silently for a few moments while she waited to hear where he'd suggest they went. There wasn't much she already knew about the lion so whatever they spoke of would hopefully not be to embarrassing or something she wasn't ready to tell just anyone.
The suggestion of the library was given a nod of her head. "Sounds good to me." With her needed items in her hand she moved out of the way giving her partner room to get up before heading for the door and towards the library.
