So many a door and so many a ~~bore~~ chore are found on this, the second floor. Between the Arithmancy classroom and the Headmistress' Office are several doors, nooks, and crannies... so what's not to explore on this legendary floor?

Wandering.

That was all Hady had really been up to since she had finished her breakfast this morning. Not being much in the mood to go outside she had simply began to walk up and down the corridors. Taking each one slowly, sometimes looking around but mostly she was just looking at the floor in front of her feet humming very softly under her breath to herself.

Stopping for a brief moment to at least figure out where exactly it was she was right now she let out a small breath. Yeah she had no idea anymore. Between the corridors, classrooms and tons of stairs she'd taken already it was safe to say Hady had no idea where she was anymore. Shoving one hand into the pocket of her jeans and her other hand mindlessly fiddling with her locket around her neck she continued to walk once again, hers set on the floor and her hair falling about her face.

There was so much for him to do, and in fact he was about to go and see Professor Airey when he saw her. Even with her head bowed and not being able to see her face, it was difficult to miss the green streaks in the hair, and the fact that it was Hady.

He'd been waiting for a time to do this... and NOW was that time.

With a quick skip on the spot, Zeke took a few long strides to catch her up, and took her by the elbow to spin her around. "Hady," he said by way of greeting - perhaps not his warmest, but his mind was too busy for that now. "Can we talk please?"

SPOILER!!: Lion!

So lost in thought was the young girl already she hadn't even heard anyone coming upon her until she felt the hand on her elbow and was spun around. Letting out a small yelp in surprise she blinked up at the boy whom she now realized was her best friend. Why was he acting so different? Did something happen?

Clearly something was bugging him as he wanted to talk. Taking a second to answer or well more like to clear her head she slowly nodded. "Yeah, of course. What's up?" She shifted slightly on the spot her hand having dropped the locket she was fiddling with to be shoved into her pants pocket like the other had.

Whoops, had he startled her? He hadn't meant to... but questions, he had them.

"So, uhh... I was talking to your house mate the other day, the girly one, our year, she's pretty... Maddie?" Was that her name? He actually NEEDED to know her name, especially considering she was the source of this moderate distress. Her questions had been super weird and she was anything but helpful, so now he had his own questions.

"She was wondering if you're okay, are you okay?"

It only took her a second before her startled look was replied with a more calmer relaxed one. A semi blank look really was what she was putting on right now even if she wasn't calm at all. And as he began to speak again her feeling of confusion grew ten fold.

He'd spoken to Maddie? Nope there was no Maddie so who was he talking about then? Hady's ran over the each of her girl dorm mates which wasn't very many before her brain caught on to the one word he had said.. 'pretty'. He meant Maggie. "You mean Maggie? What about her?" She tilted her head slightly.

Wait. What now? Why would Maggie care if she was okay or not? None of her housemates cared. With a sheer look of confusion she answered him, "Uh yeah I'm fine. If she was so worried about me why doesn't she just ask?" It's not like it would be hard for the girl seeing as they shared a dorm and classes and everything.

She was being weird, did she realise? Or was it just him? OR... was it ACTUALLY him? It was hard to tell, but this was so different to well, any conversation he'd had before. All sorts of crazy weird... all sorts. It must've been a girl thing, it all started with Maddie.

OH. Wait. MAGGIE? "Maggie?" he repeated, "right, yeah, her, I knew that." MAGGIE... weird crazy mystery girl had a name.

What WAS good to hear, very good to hear was that she was okay. But something Maggie had asked him made him wonder if that really was the case, and what was all of that about him being 'good people'?

"Are you sure, if you're not, you can tell me... maybe I can help?" Or maybe he couldn't, but, yeah... now he was just confusing himself.

Finally dropping her elbow, Zeke ran a hand through his fringe, pushing it back.

"Maggie asked me if I was good people, she was saying something about not hurting you...do you know what any of that means?" Did she?

"Mhmm," she hummed lightly to confirm the girls name once he'd repeated it. Did he realize he was acting odd? Like from the very moment he grabbed her and spun her around...he never did that. He didn't even seem happy to see her anymore. And well maybe she wasn't helping with that right now but it wasn't her fault. It was that stupid paper flier thingy and now...and now apparently Maggie had something to do with it.

"I'm fine Zeke. I think I'd be the first to know if I wasn't." How many more people were going to ask her this?! Plus hadn't she already promised him she'd always be honest with him and tell him when something was wrong? "You know I'd tell you if I needed help or something."

Shifting her weight from foot to foot she took a few steps backwards to lean against the corridor wall. "She said what? Why would you hurt me? A-and even if you did which I know you never would why the heck would she even care?" Hady replied frowning slightly. Really? Why was Maggie even talking to him about her? They weren't besties or anything...they didn't even know all that much about each other!

Awkward, this was awkward. Zeke shifted his weight from one foot to another as Hady took to leaning against the wall. He watched her for a moment before staring down the hall and joining her in leaning against the wall.

She said she was fine. And she sounded like she meant it... so... he had to believe her? He WANTED to believe her. But then what had Maggie been on about? "Okay," he replied simply.

Evidently judging by Hady's reaction, she didn't know what Maggie was on about, and this only served to hurt his head even more. "Mmm... I dunno," he replied honestly, "I don't get it, and I've been trying to figure this out, but it doesn't make sense. She even asked me if I like you." Pfft, no brainer, of course he did, they were friends weren't they? You don't just NOT like your friends! "I just don't get it."

The moment he moved to lean against the wall beside her she let out a small breath. See this was how it was supposed to be. More relaxed like before. Glancing at him she offered a small smile.

"Do you think there's something wrong?" She asked seriously. If he thought something was bothering her he would've asked on his own right? Rather then say someone else was worried about her. She wasn't sure what to think now.

Hady could hear the honesty in his voice as he spoke and she couldn't help but smile a little knowing he worried about her well-being even when he didn't have to. Then he went and said that and her smile was gone. It was gone faster then a blink of an eye and she turned to stare at him. "She asked you what?"

Now why would she ask that?! Everyone in the whole castle knew they were best friends of course they liked each other! It was a no brainer.

And then Hady caught on. All the questions Maggie asked Zeke. If he'd hurt her?
If he liked her?
If she was okay?
And then that stupid flier. It was slowly making sense now. People thought they weren't just friends. It had to be that. If she said something about it though it'd mess things up worse. She didn't want to ruin the comfortableness of their friendship.

"I...um well... have you happened to read that stupid flier thing lately?" If he had he'd understand and then she wouldn't have to try to explain it. Or so she hoped.

Zeke smiled, return Hady's. If she was smiling then... he didn't see why he couldn't because apparently she wasn't supposed to be well? He didn't know. Did HE think there was something wrong? "I... uhh... I dunno? I didn't think so, but then why the questions? And I know you said you weren't being Healer Murdoch for your health but..." well, he didn't know WHY she was seeing the cranky woman, so it could've been anything.

And just when he thought they were gaining some ground to the whole Maggie-is-crazy-and-stupid theory, Hady's face did THAT thing. WHAT WAS WRONG?! WHAT? WHAT? "Yeah, that... if I liked you... or not." WHY? WHY?

She wasn't saying anything.

Or doing anything.

Zeke elbowed her, not particularly softly either, but hard times called for hard measures, he needed answers.

The one he got though, wasn't what he was after, and really it was a question he didn't know how to answer. "What flyer?"

Hady slid down the wall to sit on the floor. If they were going to be here talking she might at least be comfortable and sit down. Lifting her head to look at him she let out a small sigh. "I really don't know why she asked you all those things. It's stupid honestly but if you were worried about why I went to see Healer Murdoch you could've just asked me." She answered shaking her head slightly. "I went to ask her for help with what I want to do after Hogwarts. I figured since she's a Healer and all she could at least point me in the right direction." That was all.

The frown only dropped when she was elbowed slightly hard. Ouch? Well not really it didn't so much hurt but caught her off guard making her look back at him. "The aparecium," she supplied not answering his former question about him liking her. She wasn't sure she wanted to clarify what she was sure Maggie and now several other people had most likely meant. Maybe she didn't really want to know if he did or not...

Zeke remained standing as Hady slid down to the ground. He'd grabbed her with there intention of questioning her, but now he felt as though he was getting a scalding. He deserved it, he supposed. In all fairness though, it wasn't his fault. "I know you said it wasn't cause you were sick, and since you didn't say why I didn't think it was my place to ask, if you wanted me to know you would have said... so... I didn't ask." Simple as that. All that etiquette stuff and learning when it was appropriate and when it was not appropriate to ask questions. Go figure, he got this one wrong. Of course, it made sense now that she was seeing Murdoch for career purposes, and it was a shame he couldn't piece it together himself. "Sorry."

He would have apologised for the elbowing too, but the prompt did provide him with an answer that was remotely useful.

Aparecium?

"I've heard of it, haven't seen it," he answered. But why? "What about it?"

Hady didn't even realize she might be getting a bit snippy towards him but she wasn't doing it on purpose. The whole situation was getting to her and making her annoyed. She felt that if someone was worried about her for whatever the reason they should come to her themselves. Anyhow as she listened to Zeke explain his reason for not asking about the Healer she realized he was right. "Nah I'm sorry Zeke, I should've just told you when I mentioned I was going to see her. I didn't think you'd worry over it." She had leaded her head on the wall but tilted a bit upwards to look at him.

Wrinkling her nose and letting out a sigh Hady instantly wished she hadn't mentioned it. Now she'd had to explain. Why couldn't he have just read the stupid thing or why didn't she have a copy of it?

Looking away from him and fixing her gaze on a spot on the floor near her feet she dropped her voice giving him the answer he probably needed. "It mentioned the two of us and spoke of the morning we walked to breakfast. It suggests that we're uh..." She stopped a moment to regroup her thoughts before continuing. "That we're more then friends. Probably because we had an arm around each other..."

Hopefully that was enough. Just let him understand what she was saying...please? She really didn't think she'd be able to say anything about the topic. Let it just be over so they could go plan something fun to do.

Now they were both apologising. How funny was this? In hindsight, it WAS funny, very funny, but he was even a bit disappointed in himself that he let something that somebody else said do this to him. Maggie was just a random, and she'd filled his head with thoughts and questions... he'd maybe need to work on that, but he wasn't sure how, or who could help. Perhaps now he had even more of a reason to see Professor Airey.

Peering down to where Hady sat, Zeke watched as she averted her gaze to somewhere else and waited for her to talk.

This really was confusing.

And what was MORE confusing was that there was an article floating around about them having breakfast? Why?

And then there was THAT. More than friends? Arms around each other.

He'd never thought of them being... like that... that was... weird? scary? WEIRD.

"Uh huh........" was all that he could say, and at this point he slid down the wall to join her on the floor. Of course, if the Aparecium wanted to write about this too, then it could go for it. They were just two people sitting on a floor, leaning on a wall.

For once, he was lost for words.

It was getting to strange now. What were they even sorry about honestly? Neither of them had done anything wrong that she could tell. What happened to the laughing and teasing? Already the third year was beginning to miss the simpleness of just a few weeks ago.

That's all he was going to say? What did that mean...was he angry, confused?

Whatever it was he wasn't mad at her since he'd sat beside her which was good. Now what though? Hady was lost for anything to say unsure if she'd make it worse by talking. Slowly lofting her head she chanced a quick glance at him.

He wasn't sure what he was thinking, and definitely didn't know wha he was doing - aside from the obvious with sitting. Was there something he was supposed to say about all this? How did SHE feel about it all? And... how was he supposed to feel about it all? Because frankly... he didn't care. Like, there was him, and there was Hady. They hadn't done anything, they weren't like that... were they? WERE THEY?

They held hands, and hugged and... sure they walked like... that, but it was all just the same with Ashely, and that girl was his SISTER.

His head was swimming with questions and scenarios and it had him feel uneasy.

Seeing Hady peer at him out of the corner of his eye, he turned and smiled at her.

"Let them think whatever they want, right?" That was all there was to it.

AAAANNNDDD... he still needed to figure out what he thought of all this.

"Good talk, thanks, I um... I have to go see Professor Airey, I have DADA issues," he informed for a touch of clarity. Nothing to do with them, he was fine, healthy, safe... he supposed.

"I'll see you around?" he asked as he pushed himself into standing position again, dusting off his bum in doing so.

She didn't know what was worse. The weirdness between them now or the silence that came from it all. Hady was beginning to think she should've told him she had no idea what Maggie was talking about. That's what she should've said and then everything would be just as it was before. All that had happened was things became more complicated.

More then one question came to mind that she needed to think over bit one really stood out for her. How did he feel about it all?

And then he looked at her and smiled before he told her what he did. A bit of clarification for her but it didn't say what he felt which confused her more. "Yeah, it doesn't matter what they think." Did it?

Maybe it did mattered. Zeke was leaving. She heard his reasoning and she believed him but at the same time it didn't seem right. He was the one that wanted to talk and now...now he was leaving. Something wasn't right.

However she didn't ask and gave a small smile and a nod of her head. "Mhmm, you know how to find me." She made no move to get up opting to remain sat on the floor with her thoughts.

Things were starting to look up again, and as Hady said, it didn't matter what they thought. "Exactly," he agreed with a solemn nod. They would think whatever they wanted, really, it made no difference to him, at all. NONE.

He wasn't sure if she was okay with all that had transpired between them just now, but a break from the awkwardness would do them good, and next time it would be as if none of this ever happened. AND maybe next time they saw each other, he'd have his second strike back. He had a feeling he might be needing it.

"Cool, I will catch you, promise," he added before heading off for Airey's office, peering back over his shoulder once or twice. Was she just going to sit there?

His nod of the head was met with one of her own. If he didn't care what others thought why should she. It was just a stupid article and they were friends. Nothing wrong with that.

So that seemed to be that. The awkwardness was done and the previous conversation was shoved aside. Hady wasn't going to bring it up again, at least not to him. Whatever came of it would be for her thoughts now.

"Sure." She agreed quietly watching him go. She'd caughter him looking back at her but there was nothing left to be done. Leaning her head back on the wall she choose to sit there a few minutes longer before getting to her feet and walking the opposite way Zeke had gone. A long detour to the girls dorm was where she was now headed.

As far as nooks and crannies went, it was hard to beat the 2nd floor corridors. Zahra had learned early on it was one of the best place to lose Peeves, or hide from a cranky teacher, or even wait out a class that she missed 'cause sometimes 7 am is just too early.

TODAY... she was waiting on one Mikey Toussaint to walk by. She was going to JUMP HIM. So, with a shanty concealment charm in place, Zahra D. Kettleburn waited for a tall, unsuspecting Gryffindor to pass her by.

In the past he really tried to limit Kitchen runs for when he ran late for breakfast, but it seemed like the older and older he got, it just got harder and harder to not be hungry all the time. He was a growing boy. This was totally acceptable. And he had also run out of chocolate frogs a lot earlier than he had intended to, so he needed to put an end to that chocolate craving somehow, y'know?

Totally acceptable. Very justified. Much understood.

He was rather disappointed with the amount of homework Tanner had assigned this week. You'd think after taking OWLs last term, she'd go easier on them. But of course not. He should've seen that one coming.

The Gryffindor was just casually on his way back around the common room, like you do, when SOMETHING JUMPED ONTO HIS BACK???????? He was startled, obviously, but there was no time to think. Sort of even jumped a bit, but whoever or WHATEVER it was, was holding on tight. "HEY!" It took every ounce of his being not to flip out because what if it was Sophie Brown. Definitely something she'd do. Or Tia even. Except of course he didn't know that it was a wild Zahra Kettleburn.'Cause that would've changed things because he definitely would've flipped out.

Ahem.

So instead, Zander started spinning around trying to turn his head to figure out WHO THE HECK WAS ON TOP OF HIM????

Zahra held on TIGHT, intending to ride one Zander FraidyPans alllllll the way up to their Common Room.
