Default of Professor Culloden

As you enter the room, the first thing you see in the middle of the room is a hand-made Turkish carpet and nothing else. To the immediate right of the door stands a coat hanger for four coats a time, and you are expected to hang your coat there before fully entering the room. Professor's desk and two chairs in front of it are located at the right end with three pictures hanging from the wall, and his bookcase and 'emergency potions' shelves with a representational potion brewing set are located at the left end of the room. The walls are painted light blue.

The desk and visitors' set look expensive, and they indeed are. They are from genuine mahogany, all cut from the same wood. There is usually a big pile of papers hastily arranged at the farther side of the desk, and you will always see a potion phial and a book on the more organised side. Behind it is his office chair, and in front of it are two comfortable looking armchairs with a coffee table between them. You'll find a bowl of sweets that is filled with cheering up potion that will last for approximately three hours. Go on, take a cherry, apple, orange or lemon flavoured. Be careful not to take the last lemon though, because they are his favourite.

To the right side of the wall behind the desk hangs a picture depicting a Mardin, Midyat house with smiling kids sometimes singing a song and sometimes playing a game. To the left is a painting depicting Afghanistan with an old wizard at the centre of it. He is brewing a mysterious potion and will be more than happy to speak to you in Persian, but he just smiles upon asking about what he is doing. He was a respected wizard of Afghanistan, and Professor Culloden paid a fortune for the painting, so act accordingly. Beneath them in the middle hangs a picture of Borneo rainforests with birds and insects. If you are lucky, you will be treated with a birds lullaby and if you are unlucky, the insects will drill your brains with their buzzing sound.

The middle is only occupied by a handmade Turkish rug. While you may step on it, you will land yourself in detention faster than you can say 'potion' if those shoes are muddy or wet.

At the other end of the room is a bookcase full of books about potions, both muggle and magical plants and animals. Don't be surprised if you see your professor's name on 3-4 of them. Depending on how much he likes you, he may lend them to you.

On the shelves next to the bookcase stands his golden, representational potions brewing set and a few phials full of different potions. Along with the carpet and pictures, the set is his most prized possession.

If you can find him in his office, you are 'okay' to pay a visit.

Norah followed Professor Culloden through the door, keeping the angelic smile on her face until she got a good luck at the room and her mouth took the shape of a big 'O'. There was SO MUCH cool stuff in here. How did she not know this before? The RUG and the PAINTINGS and look at all the CANDIES. She stared at the bowl for another moment or two before finally closing her mouth and taking a seat. She'd closed her mouth eventually, okay, her mum couldn't technically say she was rude. Technically.

She sat so far back in the chair that only her tippy toes could touch the floor, and took a deep breath. This was the part where she said why she was here, right? She wasn't entirely sure how these visits were supposed to go. "I need your help, Professor." Did she get on her knees and beg? That was looking like a pretty good idea right now considering how soft the carpet looked, but that probably wasn't very good form. Fourteen year olds had good form. Apparently. "I need a potion and you're the potions guy except I don't know if this kind of potion even exists, y'know? That's why I'm asking. 'Cause you know everything."

Cosgrach closed the door and sat down on his chair too. He let her observe his room. He liked it when people were amazed by it. He'd spent some time and money for decoration, after all.

"You can take a candy," he said, "you'll feel better." He didn't outright tell her they contained a potion, but if she was clever enough, she'd get the secret meaning. He was glad she'd sat down withOUT waiting for him too. It was tiresome to tell them they could sit.

Well, then. Okay, he could try to help her.

What she said made him chuckle. He knew everything, apparently. Not gonna lie, his ego was touched.

"What is this potion?" he asked as he looked at her. What could Norah WANT?

...to find Marsha waiting for him!

He didn't know hw long she had been waiting for, but he figured it hadn't been long. He'd started the day early, and if she had waited for long, she would have left anyway.

"Hello," he greeted her as he unlocked his door and opened it, "come in!" He gestured for her to follow him in as he entered his office.

Grinning, wide Marsha looked up as she heard the Professor walked towards her. She closed her book happily, she’d gotten a chapter read. That was good, it wasn’t too much that she had gotten bored which was always good in her book. Hehehe, gedddit? Book? Snicker.

Skipping into his office she held the book against her chest as she waited for him to close the day. Once the door was closed, she plopped down onto the chair on the right, opposite him. Gosh, these chairs were comfortable. She even thought she would be able to sleep in these chairs if it came down to it. What did Professor Culloden do with his chairs to make them this comforable?

”How are you, Professor?” She asked him, with a smile.

"What is this potion?" he asked as he looked at her. What could Norah WANT?

Norah watched Professor Culloden carefully to make sure he was extra super duper trustworthy before making her request. APPARENTLY fourteen wasn't all sunshine and rainbows which was totally unfair because they should've put some sort of warning in the job description. Like, you know, saying that being a teenager is all sorts of overrated and you don't even get to make up the rules or have small children as servants or get super tall or anything because if she'd known THAT beforehand she wouldn't have bothered with the whole growing up thing anyway. So obviously she had to stare him down, or else he'd do that chucking thing again that made it seem like Norah Lillian Kittredge was tap dancing on a cloud with lots of cake and happy things, because sometimes she wasn't. Such as now. Lame. Totally lame.

She paused her staring because CANDY, and reached out to pick a red one because red was the best flavor by law. That part hadn't changed whens she became a teenager, which only solidified her idea that candy was the best thing in the entire world. She didn't eat it, though, because important things were happening. She did bring out her politest "Thank you," though, because you had to be polite to people if you wanted them to do stuff for you. She'd figured that part out all by herself.

The fourth year stroked an imaginary beard as she thought of the best way to phrase what she needed. Stroking an imaginary beard always seemed to help, but no matter how hard she tried she never seemed to be able to grow her own. That bit hadn't gotten any easier at fourteen either. SEE? The entire thing was a lie. "WELL," she began, leaning forward to make sure he was LISTENING, and not just doing that grownup thing where they pretended to listen but were really just plotting the best way to embarrass you. Like with cheek pinching. Ew. "I need a potion that'll make me good at stuff. I haven't really decided what specifically, but I need to be good at stuff. Being good at everything would work too." Norah squinted at him. Was he following? He had to know how to do this, right? Sophie Brown was his favorite according to that paper thingy that said weird things about people, and she was good at everything so he had to know. "So yeah. How do I get good at stuff? I thought growing up would be enough but I'm still bad at everything so I think I need your professional help."

Cosgrach didn't know if she had brought her potions book particularly to flatter him, or if it really was what she wanted to read. Either way, it worked: he liked her a bit more already; because Cosgrach Culloden was one of those people who just loved flattery.

He hung his coat, was happy to note that she sat down without waiting for his approval, and flopped on his own throne chair.

"I'm fine, thank you," he smiled at her, "how about you?" He pointed at the candy in front of her.

"You can take if you want." Feeling better immediately guaranteed.

Was... Norah... stroking an imaginary beard?

Not gonna laugh... nononono, that'd completely ruin her confidence... no... oh Merlin!

And he did manage not to laugh. He was A+ adult, see? He held back a laughter - okay, he snorted and OKAY he hid his smile behind his hand and he even frowned to look like he was serious. Okay... he got this...

Oh, she was also INNOCENT, wasn't she? Cosgrach removed his hand from his face, now that the urge to laugh was over, and looked at her with only a trace of a smile.

"Do you mean concentration potions? Or do you want physical strength?" His job was also to understand what lied beneath 'stuff' word.

He was clearly underpaid.

Marsha was all smiles. Not that that was really that different from normal, but hearing that the Professor was in a good mood tonight meant that she was in a happiness bubble. See it? Yup, it surrounded her and her Professor and there were smilllleeeeesss all around. No-one could turn her smile upside down. Nope.

”Yay, I’m glad that you are good.” He got a smile as she took a sweetie from the bowl in front of her. Yes, candy was always amazing. Opening the wrapper slowly as she spoke she nodded looking at Professor Cosgrach.

”I’m great, thank you.” Still smiling wide, she slipped the sweetie into her mouth. She stayed silent for a few moments, taking in the Professor’s office. It was, after all the first time that she had come down to see him outside of class.

”I had a question… if you have time?” She looked over her shoulder at the door, as if expecting someone else to knock since she had asked for his attention. ”I’ve been reading ahead in my text book--” her hands covered the book on her lap, ”-- and I was reading about the forgetfulness potion, and I was wondering if it is considered a semi-dark potion like the one you taught us in last class… ‘Cause doesn’t it wipe memories and things?” The twelve year old frowned. She knew she was missing something - but she didn’t know what exactly…. and so here she was.

Cosgrach liked Marsha, period. He smiled a little and said "I'm glad you're great too." Wasn't the first years always a gem? They were so excited and polite. The way everyone should be.

He let her examine his office, because it was an office to examine. His eyes were absent-mindedly on her as he fought the urge to look in the direction of her gaze, and when she was done, he stood more straight in his chair.

"Of course," he said and waited for the question. He ignored the look at the door for now, because he didn't know why she looked at it, and nodded once in approval when she said she hd been reading. JUST the student he'd want.

Ah, that.

"It's not," he said, "because it's temporary. Emotional potion is temporary too, but it sort of allows the drinker to be manipulated. Forgetfulness just... makes them forget." He shrugged. Obliviate was the dark one about memory, not this potion.

Marsha smiled wide as the Professor told her that he was happy she was great. Wasn’t it amazing that the Professor’s genuinely wanted their students to be happy? Maybe it was because it was a boarding school and they didn’t have parents to double check on them - but she’d never known any of her other tutors and teachers to care… but it made her super happy.

Hmmm.

Marsha crossed one leg over the other, leat an elbow on her knee and then her chin on her fist; listening aptly as the Professor explained more about the potion. ”So, its temporary like the potion we worked on in class because it lasts for an indefinite amount of time and then wears off… Unlike… uh.” The Welsh girl searched for the right things to mention. ”Those inforgivable curses… my Tad mentioned how bad one of them is for taking away someone’s will.. or like my aunt is an obliviator at the Ministry? And I think… that means that she alters memories completely… right?”

She was semi shooting in the dark, but she sort of knew what she was talking about. Kind of, maybe?

Cosgrach nodded at both of her remarks. "They try to bring back the memory after obliviating, but... it's not very effective." And the cruciatus spell to bring it back... well... better not even mention it.

"The Unforgivable Curses are the worst kind you can ever cast on someone." He was clearly disgusted by the idea and he shook his head. "The Forgetfulness Potion is rather innocent."

He didn't think she was really a dark witch, but Sabel was an able man and... he didn't want to think about it.
Sophie totally DID think it was hilarious and she wasn't afraid to show it. No, this was TOO good - who in their right mind could ever think the big sweetheart Dakest could ever be a Dark wizard, and be training students - like HER - to be one, too? It was just too funny. Even funnier was that they tried to make her genuine attempt at helping out the student body to be some devious plot. IF THEY ONLY KNEW. Though... they probably did know. That was the whole premise behind the article, she thought, was that the person who wrote it knew none of it was true, but they used the knowledge of the truth to twist things.

Smart, but ever so foolish.

"Y'didn't react to my declaration of being a Dark witch, so I'm gonna assume you either read the article," she held it up for him to see as she crossed into the room, "and are unamused or you didn't read the article and you're just so immune to my games and teasing that you're super unfazed when I'm making wild declarations."

She plopped down into the chair on the opposite side of his desk from him and gave him a lopsided, amused grin.

Ugh, why did she have to be so excited by the things?

Cosgrach looked at her in worry. He didn't rush to the other armchair like he always did either. He wanted to observe her and see how much effect that Dakest had on her. So far, he could see that she was the same old cocky Sophie. He sighed.

"I've read it and am rather unamused," he said and started observing her rection.

Sophie did notice that he stayed put behind his desk, but she just thought he was being lazy and tired and couldn't be bothered with coming over to sit by her. His expression wasn't ideal, though, and she could tell he WAS actually unamused before he even said it.

But then his words confirmed it.

"Why?" Sophie shrugged. "It's not like it's true. They're not spoiling my reputation or anything, 'cause anyone who knows me knows better than to think I'd have even an ounce of darkness in me. And Dakest is too cool to be a Dark wizard. Sure, he's awfully suspicious and seems super on edge sometimes, but I think that's just the Auror in him." She saw that in both her own father and her cousin's wife, Vivi. "Y'don't actually think he could be a Dark wizard, do you?" Is that why he was so unamused?

Norah continued her squinting as Professor Culloden SUSPICIOUSLY covered his mouth. What was he doing behind that hand, hmmm? Was he going to laugh? 'Cause that wasn't allowed. She squinted harder, hoping her detective skills would kick in and give her x-ray vision or something, except they didn't. Lame.

She took a moment to inspect the bottoms of her purple trainers to make sure they were all clean, before putting them on the chair as she hugged her knees to her chest. Didja see that? That was politeness too, kinda. Aw yeah. "I don't know." Wasn't he supposed to know everything? "Does concentration make you good at stuff? I haven't got any talents, Professor. This is serious business. Is concentration a talent?" If it was then she DEFINITELY didn't have that one. Actually, that wasn't really true. She could concentrate on stuff like the weather outside or the way the light did glittery stuff when it bounced off of her sparkles, or if peoples' noses wiggled when she laughed, but nobody ever seemed to count that on concentration. That wasn't very fair, y'know. Somebody needed to change the rules about concentration 'cause the fourth year liked her kind much better. "Maybe a potion that will make me really smart and then I can have school kinds of talents." WAIT NO. EVEN BETTER. "OOOOR a potion that made me really good at dancing without even falling over. Or tree climbing, so I could be a professional one of those. Are there awards for climbing trees?" There really should be, if there wasn't already. She could invent that. "Oooh! Or a potion that'll make me really funny or one that will make me the fastest runner ever, or one that will make me read really fast, or one that that will mean i can talk to animals!" THOSE were real talents. She needed some of those. "Or maybe all of those."

Norah looked down at her sparkly shoelaces, fiddling with the candy she was still holding. When she looked up again, her nose was scrunched up in the kind of way she scrunched it up when she fell down and needed to make sure nobody thought it really hurt a lot even though it did. Tough fourteen year old, remember? GRRRR. "I'm just bad at everything." Okay maybe being tough was another thing she was bad at.

Cosgrach frowned as he watched her. Why was she so... trusting? It was very possible that Sabel was a dark wizard. Who would know? Who could really read minds here? Cosgrach could, but he'd need Veritaserum for that and a Ministry permission.

"If he was, who would know?" he asked rhetorically, "he is the most capable of defending himself here. With his 'auror' history and 'constant vigilance' nonsense, no one would suspect."

He leaned back and sighed. "I'm not saying you are a dark witch, but..." What if Sabel was slowly poisoning her?

Cosgrach SAW her politeness and that got her extra points in his eyes. But she didn't know what exactly she wanted, and... he cocked his head to the side and observed her. No, he wouldn't laugh at her; because he knew how important it was to feel like you sucked at everything.

"I'd call it a talent, yes," he said about concentration, "it would make you better at what you're doing." Well, within her capacity, of course, but that still counted. But then she went on to clarify what exactly she wanted, and... hehehe...

"I don't think climbing trees is appreciated in any way," he said with only a hint of amusement in his voice. However, she went on, so he went quiet once more. What she said last - ugh. He frowned. "I'm sure you're not bad at everything," he said softly, "you look like a very talented girl to me." He was even genuine. "You're just going through puberty now and everything looks terrible to you. But it's not, honestly." No. She could do most of the things she wanted to. "You just need a concentration potion, because there aren't potions for the things you listed anyway." Sadly. He wished. "You'll see you'll do great in no time!"

...Why in the world was he so distrusting of Dakest? Had he ever given Culloden a reason to think he was anything less than good? The new professor was a perfect gentleman in her eyes, so she didn't get it.

How could she prove to him that there was nothing to worry about?

"But...?" She didn't really need him to finish - she knew where he was going with this, and she rubbed her forehead in frustration. "Why don't we go see him? We'll talk this out. If he doesn't hex you on the spot for being suspicious of him, we'll know he's probably a pretty good guy, right?" She was grinning, her tone light and teasing. "We'll go in with all our defenses up. It'll be fine." And Dakest would probably appreciate that she was trying to help others see that he was truly good, too, right?

Working her way into the hearts of professors, one professor at a time.

Go see him? Cosgrach looked at her incredulously. Was she hearing what she was saying?

"No," he said, "the only way I can relax," not trust but only relax, "is if he admits he's innocent under the effect of Veritaserum." But that was 99% unlikely, so he was not visiting him and spend more time with him.

"You should always have your defences up. The Daily Prophet wouldn't write such a thing without a good lead." Did she get this part? That she shouldn't believe him?

”So… Do things fall on a scale? Like, something is okay as long as it isn’t unforgivable bad… or is it normally situation dependant?” Big questions before dinner. WHEEEEE..

Cosgrach shrugged. "That's why we have 'good' and 'evil'." It was dark people's work... mostly. But sometimes, people did it to... 'experiment' too. Cosgrach didn't even know.

"Well..." Tough question. "It usually depends on situations. There are some situations where even the simplest spells do harm. But there's a general consensus. If it alters something negatively forever - however, obliviators are different because they protect our society - if it alters negatively forever, then it's usually bad. If it takes the willpower of someone, no matter for how long, it's forbidden." Was he... forgetting something? Nah... He hoped he didn't confuse her further.

Once again, Marsha was deep in thought as she listened to the Professor. She liked having these conversations with her teachers, five to ten minutes of her time where she didn’t feel bad for asking basic questions or for trying to understand something that the others in class might have gotten straight away. She wanted, truly wanted, to be able to understand the magic that she was casting so that she could try to always use it with the best and good and most honest of intentions.

”That does make sense Professor.” She replied, finally after he had described that the situation could change everything. ”Maybe that is why Defense class tries to teach us about some of the things we might face in life… so that… we are used to what danger can look and feel like. Maybe its so that we can try to keep um, a little bit of a cooler head to see what we are casting and what that could mean after we have calmed down.”

Did that even make sense? She wasn’t sure but she hoped that he understood regardless. He was smart after all.

"You'll see you'll do great in no time!"
Norah fiddled with the wrapping on her candy and stayed silent for a moment, digging the heels of her purple trainers in the carpet. "I appreciate tree climbing," she said, not looking up from the red candy. "It isn't fair if nobody else does. What if somebody wants to be a professional? They'd never get a job and that'd just be sad. What if they couldn't even afford ice cream?" She scowled at her hands. Maybe the appreciation of tree climbing could be her talent.

The fourth year looked up quickly as Professor Culloden continued, her scowl suddenly replaced with a beaming smile. "Ya really mean that, Professor?" If a real live professor said it then it had to kind of be true, right? They knew everything. It was a rule. She went quiet again, this time pausing to open the candy she'd been holding and popping into her mouth. Aw yeah. Cherry. That was the best one. Norah held it in her mouth as she listened, swallowing the remains just as Professor Culloden mentioned puberty.

A huge grin spread over her face and she began to giggle. And giggle. Aaaaand giggle. PUBERTY. PROFESSOR CULLODEN MENTIONED PUBERTY. HE REALLY DID. She wasn't sure if it was the candy or the puberty or BOTH but all of a sudden this whole entire shebang was the funniest thing that'd ever happened in the entire history of the UNIVERSE. "Pu-ber-ty," she hiccuped, letting out another snort. Norah rotated in the chair to drape her legs over one arm rest, resting her head on the other and placing a hand on her forehead. "Pubertyyyyy" hehehhe. "Is that why everything's terrible? Nothing's terrible anymore. Maybe puberty is a MAGICAL word." Haaaaahaha. Puberty. It even sounded funny. Especially when you said it over and over. Pubertypubertypuberty. "Puberty's the best, dude. I mean Professor. Professor Dude. Sometimes I cry for no apparent reason even though I didn't even tell my eyes they were about to do that!" It wasn't that awesome when it happened but thinking about it right now was preeeettty awesome. "And SOMETIMES everything is RADICAL." Like now. She sat up straight again with her feet on the floor, and squished her cheeks together into a fishy face. "See how radical I feel? SEE?" The words came out kinda smushed sounding but Professor Culloden would probably understand. He was the one who had said the magical puberty word, after all.

She eyed the bowl of candies. More. She needed more. This was the best candy in the entire galaxy probably. Why were they talking about concentration again?

Sophie just stared pretty blankly at Culloden as he talked, hardly believing her ears. He really wouldn't trust a Hogwarts professor without the use of Veritaserum? He wouldn't take Dakest's word for it? Yes, Sophie knew all about "constant vigilance" from Bunz's little lesson last term... but... BUNZ was the one who HIRED Dakest. Unless she was under the influence of the Imperius Curse or something... wouldn't she have done extensive research and background-checking on this new professor before hiring him? And the guy was an AUROR for crying out loud, his job was to FIGHT bad things like that.

"How d'you know they wouldn't write something like that without a good lead? What if... what if they were just trying to brew up trouble? What if the writer got bribed and paid a hefty sum to write an article like that, or his family was threatened if he didn't make Professor Dakest look bad? Those kind of things happen in real life, too, and..." She shrugged. It felt so silly to be defending a man who shouldn't have needed to be defended at all. She'd never once gotten bad vibes from the guy. He didn't seem like a vile man, even a little bit. Especially looking at his wife and kids, when she visited his office with Evie...

No, there was no way he was living a life of evil.

"Well, whaddya gonna do then? If you think he's so bad, and you don't wanna talk to him, you're just gonna let your students keep going to his classes? Let him turn us into Dark witches and wizards?" Did he see how flawed his thinking was at the moment? He needed to come talk to him with her. Staying out of it when he feared the worst was cowardice. He had to do something if he thought things were amiss, and Sophie desperately wanted to prove him wrong.

"Exactly," he said, "DADA is such an important lesson. Although we don't have any Voldemorts anymore, it's a vital subject." You never knew what life would present.

"What are your favourite subjects so far?" he asked in a lighter tone, because he figured she was done with questions for now? If not, he could answer any and all, of course.

Well, okay, the way this girl talked, you'd feel terrible for people who liked to climb trees out there. But, world didn't work like that and it was time she, uh, saw that.

"They can climb mountains?" he said - he didn't even know if that was the same as trees, and frankly, he didn't care. All he cared was how much she direly needed some concentration potion, because her way of thinking... wasn't very... focused, to put it politely.

"I mean it," he said, and would have explained what she had to do, but - ...............??????

"Yes, puber -" Why. Was. She. Giggling. Cosgrach did see that she'd eaten the candy, but quite honestly, he didn't even know why the word 'puberty' made her so... loopy. He frowned as he got slightly angry, because he didn't even understand.

"Norah, stop that!" he ordered - that being 'feeling radical'. "I take it back. You aren't in puberty. We'll get you a concentration potion and everything will be great."

Okay? OKAY.

Obviously Cosgrach didn't know that too, but being suspicious of Dakest instead of trusting him without knowing for sure if he's guilty or not was much safer. What shocked him was how Sophie couldn't SEE that. Why was she so willing to trust the guy? Or... or had she been already charmed?! He looked intently at her as she talked. HOW could he tell it? Ugh, he didn't even know - there was a POTION for it, but he couldn't use it.

"How can I even understand by only talking?" he asked at Ms. Trusting. How was SHE so SURE?

Okay? OKAY.
Mountains and trees were whole entire different things, didn't he know? He was a professor, he had to know. If knowing the difference between trees and mountains wasn't a prerequisite for becoming a professor then there was obviously a very big problem with whoever was in charge of professors. They obviously had their priorities all wrong. "It isn't the same, Professor C. Can I call you Professor C?" she gave him an angelic smile just to show how qualified she was to call him by a nickname, before adding, "My mum would never ever let me climb an entire mountain, but I can climb trees as long as I don't fall out 'cause one time I broke my arm and it was very bad news." Did he want her to spend her entire life without any appreciation for her tree climbing habits? That wasn't very nice, Professor C, especially for somebody with a name as hip and cool as Professor C.

The fourth year covered her mouth with her hand, trying and failing to keep from giggling. Why was he FROWNING? This was HILARIOUS. She uncovered her mouth and bit her lip to keep from sniggering again. "Don't look so sad, Professor C." GIGGLE!SNORT. "I'm not laughing at you, I promise. I'm not even laughing at those little wrinkles you get between your eyebros when you're angry because I think those look very nice." She let out another laugh and immediately covered her mouth again. Was that rude? It wasn't supposed to be rude. It was just an observation but sometimes her mum said observations were rude too which wasn't fair because she couldn't help what she observed. She LIKED those little wrinkles. If you squinted really hard they almost looked like an itty bitty angry face. Where could she get some of those?

Oh. Oh. Was he the real kind of mad, and not the kind of mad he just pretended to be to seem scary 'n stuff? Norah slowly brought her hand down from in front of her mouth and pursed her lips like she'd just eaten something sour to keep from laughing. "Sorry," she said softly, looking at the floor as her mouth twitched but she DIDN'T actually smile, okay? "I guess not laughing isn't really one of my talents either. Sometimes it gets me in trouble but don't tell anyone 'cause I'm fourteen now and it'd be embarrassing." They weren't technically called time-outs anymore but they were practically the same thing. She looked back up at him with wide eyes and a small smile. "Concentration potion sounds good, I guess." She supposed she could say goodbye to her mind being all over the place and all that. At least her mum would be happy, right?

"What are your favourite subjects so far?" he asked in a lighter tone, because he figured she was done with questions for now? If not, he could answer any and all, of course.

Marsha nodded her head. ”I totally agree. My Taddy is a bodyguard and he does a lot of personal security work. I don’t think he would ever like to hear that I wasn’t paying attention in DADA, though he just wants me to enjoy my subjects… and maybe be a better student than he ever was.” Marsha giggled, it wouldn’t really be hard.

”Well, I’m loving Charms.” She said with a nod of her head. ”And potions,” BIG grin. ”And History of Magic has been really interesting… and Care of Magical Creatures! I love anything to do with animals. At all.” Oh… Whoops. That was half of her subjects. She gave the Professor a small smile. ”i’m mostly just loving getting to learn as much as possible.” She confirmed, smiling.
