Boys Dorms

When you take the stairs from the Common Room and head to the left, you find the doors of the dormitories allotted for the males of Ravenclaw House. Each year has their own room, but don't worry, they are all furnished the same and are roughly the same size with the help of Extension Charms on the Tower.

Each room is circular with large windows. On windy nights you can hear the wind whistling around the windows; some even find it to be a very relaxing sound. The room is complete with four-poster beds covered in sky blue eiderdowns spread out along the walls with each owner's trunk at the foot. The comforters and privacy curtains are a lovely shade of navy velvet. The bedside tables are navy blue and all details are in bronze like knobs and so on. Above each bedside table a good sized mirror hangs. Connected to each dormitory room is also a bathroom.

Use this room to rest after a hard day of classes, relax after Quidditch practice, or to just hang out with your housemates.

**Remember no girls allowed in here. The stairs will prevent this...

As he was a week late, it was obvious to Xavi which bed was his. There was only one left. Unfortunate, since he would have liked the bed by the window, but perhaps he could convince it's occupant to switch with him. He set his trunk upright and dropped his backpack on the bed by the door with a sigh. Probably he should use this time to unpack and settle in, but he didn't have much to do. Just put his school things on the shelves and his clothes in the drawers.

Well, and he had to figure out what to do with all of the nonsense his kid sister had begged him to take with him. Really, what did he need with a stuffed Guita? Or an independence flag? Sure, he was all for Independence, but where did she expect him to put it? Should he hang it out of the window like every house and apartment building in Catalunya, or should he keep it folded in his trunk all year? Honestly.

He left his things for the moment, and got ready to go to the activity outside. Jeans, tee-shirt, wand in pocket, just in case he needed it.

Looking up from the book in his lap, Rooney raised an eyebrow at the face he didn't recognise. "Hello, can I help you?" Roo hadn't seen him around the Common Room, and definitely not in the dorm but this person seemed to have claimed a trunk that had been there since earlier - this first year had just assumed that someone already in the dorm had needed more pairs of underwear and shoes. Oh, and they were putting down a backpack and that was always the roots of making yourself at home. A new dorm mate? Ah..

He didn't move off his bed, but shuffled to the end of his four poster to get a proper look at this kid and take all of him in. Take him in and scribble down some notes. What size clothes he looked like he wore, size of shoes, what kind of potential product he used on his hair and what scent of soap he was going to use in the bathrooms. Those things gave away a lot about a person.

The reading boy was the first to say anything, and to Xavi, he sounded kind of rude. Maybe not rude. Maybe he was surprised that Xavi was there. The Catalan boy smiled brightly. "I'm Xavier. Pronounced 'tcha-vee-ay' not some English zay-vee-er something of other. And I'm late to school. This bed is free, isn't it?" Late by a whole week was still only considered "late" wasn't it? There wasn't a special word for people who were ridiculously late. At least he didn't think so.

Also, was that boy taking notes? He seemed to be looking Xavi over like he was a piece of furniture he might choose to buy and writing it all down in a notebook. That was strange. "Um, what are you doing?" he shot the boy a confused look.

From his perch at the end of his bed, Rooney smiled nicely. "Rooney Bronwyn, it's nice to meet you, Xavier." He had, much like when he met Iselin, repeated the name exactly as it had been spoken to him. He had at least been able to immediately work out how to spell the girl's name, but not this time. "Could you spell that for me, by the way?" So he could title this page in his notebook in case something happened to him and someone read his notes and needed a name. Important.

-- What was he doing? Oh. Roo looked up from his notes, mid-way through analysing the state of the boys backpack and shrugged. "Homework." A little white lie wouldn't be an essential problem between dorm mates if he never found out, right? "But yes, that bed is free. If you're a first year?" Those were the inhabitants of this room already.

Presley Black 05-18-2015 07:28 AM

"Uh," Xavi hesitated. Theoretically he knew how to spell in English. Practically it was more difficult. He had learned this in the first of primary, and what's more, his mother was a native English speaker but for the life of him he couldn't remember how to say 'X' out loud. "It's like zay-vee-er" he gave in, comparing his name to the ugly way they pronounced it in English. "I could write it for you," since it was obvious that the boy was not doing homework and instead taking notes on Xavi.

Was this a thing that he did with everyone he met, or was he planning to report something that Xavi didn't know he'd done wrong? "I am a first year," the boy confirmed with a nod. He was going to assume that this boy was as well. "Where are you from, Rooney?" Xavi resisted the urge to pull out a notebook and mimic the actions of the other kid, making notes and looking at him in a scrutinizing way. He didn't need to sink to the level of weird just to make someone see what they were doing. "Also, if you want to know something, you can just ask. You don't need to check me out like a piece of meat." Xavier was onto this kid and he wanted him to know it.

Shanners 05-18-2015 05:59 PM

"So.. like X-A-V-I-E-R?" Rooney added that spelling to the page with a question mark, and also annotated potential birth dates for him, as he confirmed he was a first year also. There was a set time frame he could have been born in for him to share this dorm with Rooney and the other boys. "Why are you late?" Had he not wanted to come to this school? Had he been at a different school and been kicked out within the first few days? Rooney was considering all of the possibilities, and coming up short with all of them. Xavier didn't LOOK like he'd been in a school that had blown up recently. He also didn't look like the type of person that would have blown up a school just to get out of it. Note to self: don't trust Xavier around explosives in the dorm.

"Family lives in Paris right now, but we've moved a lot before that." New York, LA, London, Surrey.. Mama liked to travel, but all of the relocations had been for good reason. Living with Daddy Dex, fake!Daddy doing a bad thing, work.. "What about you, Xavier?" He genuinely was interested, specifically on what could make this kid work and not work. -- And Xavier had noticed. Crap. Rooney's face flushed red and he closed his notebook rapidly and shoved it under his legs as he stuttered over something of an apology.

"Youcanseeitifyouwant..."

There wasn't anything bad in there.

Xavi nodded his head in agreement when Rooney spelled his name aloud. Sure. It wasn't that Xavi didn't know how to spell his own name, he just didn't know the English alphabet nearly as well as he should. "I was on holiday with my family," he explained why he was late. Well, holiday might have been a loose term. But even if it was only to visit grandparents, if he left the country it was a holiday, no?

The way the kid said 'family' made Xavier wonder if maybe he didn't like his so much. He didn't say 'my family' he said 'family,' as if he wasn't including himself in their group. Well, it didn't matter to Xavi, so he didn't probe further, instead answering the question about himself, still eyeing the notebook. "I'm from Catalonia," he said proudly. And if this kid came back and insisted it was Spain, they were going to have a problem.

Why on earth would Xavi want to see the notebook? No, it probably had a weird picture of a girl Rooney liked, and maybe some boogers where he picked his nose and wiped it as he wrote. He seemed like that kind of a kid. Besides, it wasn't like anything he'd written in there would matter to anybody, least of all Xavi. If he wanted to take notes on his dorm-mates, it was his prerogative.

What a weird kid.

"Oh. Did you go anywhere nice?" That was the customary question to ask in regards to that question, right? Rooney managed a half-smile and considered the entire topic of small talk. It really wasn't enjoyable, and he didn't think it was something he wanted to partake in on a daily basis with someone he was living with. He actually really wanted to get along with Xavier, but he didn't know how to start a conversation properly without knowing the individual himself. For now, he just seemed a little bit hostile.

The Ravenclaw nodded, and rocked backwards and forwards on his bed. "What's it like there?" He liked to know about different places and the like, and he wouldn't say that his Mama had actually been there last year. That wasn't such a big thing though. It had only been a day thing and she;d been back before they had all gone to bed for the night.

This was strange.

"SO. Do you know anyone already going here?"

Presley Black 05-22-2015 07:25 AM

Xavi was getting quickly bored of the small talk. "No. We just went to visit my grandparents in the United States." What was he supposed to say now? Ask Rooney if he'd ever been anywhere exciting? Except, Xavi didn't really care.

Normally Xavi could talk for hours about how amazing Catalonia was and how much he loved it and all of the traditions and celebrations and things, but knowing that Rooney was analyzing him made him not want to talk about it at all. "It's great," he said lamely. This was so boring.

At the same time as Rooney asked if Xavi knew anybody, Xavi asked "So, have you got any hobbies?" because if they had something in common, that would make it easier to talk to him, no? He hesitated, torn between answering Rooney's question, or waiting for Rooney to answer his and settled for saying nothing. Rooney could decide whether to press his question or answer Xavi's. Though the answer was no. He didn't know anybody.
