Green! "Sounds good,'' replied Adi. "Green and orange would look cool together.'' Seeee? One could always turn to Benny for great opinions and advice. He watched his bestie try the spell for a while. Heh. Like him, he didn't seem to have much luck.

Oh! Strike that! Benny was shaving some progress. "Oh, yeah. With brows like ours, this trend will definitely catch on,'' the Badger offered with a small laugh.

Back to his own practice!

"Capillus colorum!'' Tap! Maximum concentration annnnnnnd... a fully orange eyebrow! Finally! Woot! He looked at the mirror, past his image so he could see AJ's reflection. He couldn't see her face properly because she was partially blocking her own reflection but he wondered if she had made any progress so far.

Janelle was ready to give it another go. First she needed to figure out why it didn't quite work out he first time. She said the incantation clearly, she tapped her wand. Somehow the spell only worked a little bit though. After giving it some thought, Janelle decided that it must have been her concentration that fell short.

So for her second attempt, Janelle put all of her energy into focusing on turning her eyebrow blue. She tried to picture what her brow should look like and this time she did it. If she could imagine it, she could make it happen. Holding onto that image, Janelle readied her wand. Tapping her eyebrow again, she said, "Capillus Colorum" To her amazement, the spell actually worked this time. Her whole eyebrow was blue. It was a fine look and Janelle wondered if she could be allowed to keep it that way. Probably not, but wouldn't it be cool?

Maybe now would be a good time to practice on the other eyebrow, Janelle thought. Now the most difficult and important question was.........what color should the other eyebrow be?

"Auribus aquta." Ruby repeated the incantation a few times until it felt alright on her tongue. She did glance around a little bit and then back to her mirror, examining her current perfect ears for a moment before beginning properly.

"Auribus aquta." She tapped the left one first, tilting her head slightly so she could better see the reflection in the mirror as it changed. And it DID change, elongating to what she had in mind, which was elfish but not garish. Just a slight point, cuteness and all you know, not like some major deformity. She touched said ear gingerly, but it didn't feel any different. Other ear then. But.. no, she'd wait just a minute to make sure that the transfiguration was stable and wasn't about to do anything unpleasant.

Looked good so far though. She smiled to herself and glanced around again. Was anyone having disasters? Some people had just gone for it apparently, and their elf ears were large and unsightly. Ruby had just kept hers the same size, simply adding the point. Not bad.

"Auribus aquta." She tapped the right one, again tilting to better see it change in the reflection, but this time concentrating on getting it the same (except opposite) as the other. How much would it suck to have uneven ears? Honestly though, this was no sweat to her. Spellwork wasn't a problem as long as she knew what she was supposed to be doing. And there, her ears were done.

Probably she should practice a few more times.

Note-taking was happening, jotting down both spells in case any of her Snakes spaced out and needed help. Murmuring both spells to herself, she set her quill aside, exchanging it for her wand instead. Only to get the feel of it, no casting yet.

"Auribus Aquta." She tasted it in her mouth, then repeated again. "Auribus...Aquta." It sounded well. Maybe a bit odd since this was her first time having a go at this spell. Either way, she wanted to get it right. The last thing she wanted to do was end up with elephant ears or something worse.


Listening in on one of the professor-student exchanges, Beverly glanced at the mirror. So it was one ear at a time. Good. It would take lots more concentration trying to get both. Eyeing the mirror some more, she couldn't help inspect her hair. Not because she cared what it looked like, but...even after years, she still checked for gray hairs, and sighed in relief when she didn't find one.

So all was okay. It was time to get this going. Lifting her wand to her right ear, she took in a deep breath, imagining the ear of an elf. She breathed out. "Auribus Aquta!" Tap.

Norah squinted at her reflection in the mirror, turning her head one way and then the other and wiggling her eyebrows. This whole two color thing was NOT working out. Purple was just to awesome of a color to go with anything that wasn't glittery. Pointing her wand at her eyebrows, she muttered "finite!" and watched her eyebrows go back to normal. THAT spell worked right, why couldn't this one two?

One deep breath and funny face later, and the Hufflepuff's wand was pointed at her eyebrows again. Purple eyebrows. She wanted 'em. Closing her eyes alll tight, she thought of every single purple thing in the entire universe, and imagined her eyebrows turning purple. Focusfocusfocus. "Capillus colorum!" She opened her eyed immediately to see if it had worked, and widened her eyes at her reflection with a huge grin. YAYAYY! ONE EYEBROW WAS PURPLE. She raised and lowered the purple eyebrow as she stuck her tongue at the other one. Lame. The purple one was so much cooler SEEE.

Awww, Caleb wanted to do elf ears! He really hoped that wouldn't come up on the OWLs...otherwise he was totally blaming Bellaire and taking it up with Truebridge. Alright, time to focus...

He decided to practice the spell and it's pronunciation before he did anything - he did NOT want to walk around with green eyebrows all day. "Capillus Colorum," he said. "Capillus Colorum...Capillus Colorum,"

Alright, that wasn't so hard...he was pretty sure he could do this!

It seemed his idea wasn't totally out there. Adi at least was game for the mix-matched colors of orange and green eyebrows for himself. Benny leaned forward again for a closer look of his moderate success as the Hufflepuff added to the comment on trends. Yes...red-tipped and orange-stripped eyebrows would be all the rage.

'Who'd have thought..."

The two of them...trendsetters.

Ben decided to try his luck on the other eyebrow, sticking with the color red. Maybe he could get them to match once more or at least look sorta like they went together. He took a deep breath as he remained close to the mirror, nearly staring deeply into his reflection as he went to cast the spell again. "Capillus colorum!'' At the point at his eyebrow, the hair tone gradually changed until he looked like he should have auburn hair.

At the spell, Beverly felt a slight tingling on her earlobe. It only lasted for a few seconds, but nothing visibly changed. She squinted a the mirror. Maybe not nothing. The tip of her ear hung lower than her left. So........she didn't do it right? But she focused all her intent there. She flicked her ear and cast, "Finite."

Beverly knew the answer. Practice. She needed more practice. "Auribus Aquta," she chant, tapping her ear once more.

Her gaze, glued on her reflection, widen pleasantly as the top lobe extended upward, slanting so that it was pointy. She gave it a try, even if she knew it wouldn't work, and tried to wiggle her new elf ear. Zilch. But LOOK. Elf ear right THERE.

"I know right,'' Adi said, looking away from AJ's reflection and putting his face closer to Benny's to get a closer look at his. "Yours looks good actually. I'm sureee Angel would like it.'' With a wink, Adi returned his eager beaver face back to his own mirror.

Time to work on eyebrow number two!

"Capillus colorum!'' With a smart tap on his brow, Adi concentrated. Come on, green! Give the Puffer a break so let's do this on the first try, yeah? He was rewarded when a bright green colour began spreading from one side of the brow.

Spreading and spreading and sprea- stopping. Hmph.

Now he had one bright orange eyebrow and half a green one. How trendy.

Now she needed to even out her ears. Tilting her head slightly, she tapped it with her wand. Reaching it was easy, but considering it was on the opposite side she wasn't sure if that would make a difference. Most likely not, but it was better to be sure before she cast and all the questions popped up and she ended up with deformed ears. Or worse.

Breathing in, then out, she said, "Auribus Aquta!" and tapped her ear, willing it to transfigure into the shape of her right one. It wouldn't impress to have different ears. That wouldn't be the point.

The same tingling sensation from before rose up her earlobe and around. The tip stretched and stretched until it was pointy, matching her right one.

Well, well, well. Look at them ears.

Ruby non-verbally reversed the spells on her ears and then checked her reflection to make sure that her perfect regular ears were there. Important. Wouldn't want any residual point, right?

But she was going to keep practicing, just to be sure of herself.

"Auribus aquta." She tapped one ear and examined it closely. Even cuter than the first time.

The black looked weird, he decided. VERY weird. Perhaps even TOO weird. More weird than the green? Yeaaahhhh.

After considering his options, still staring at his reflection in the mirror, Zeke decided on another random bright colour, this time he was going to strive for some house pride.

With his intent clearly focused on producing a GOLD eyebrow, Zeke steadied himself and then set to carry out his plan. "Capillus Colorum," he stated clearly as he tapped his left eyebrow with his Larch wood wand. He had the hang of this, and his eyebrow turned a nice shade of what one might call gold, but he wasn't yet satisfied. He wanted it GOLDER.

"Capillus Colorum," he repeated with another tap of his wand to his eyebrow.

This time the colour turned only slightly, giving off a nice metallic yellow shine. Now THIS was gold gold.

Pleased with himself, Zeke considered what shade of red he ought to turn the other.

Toby's hair wasn't long, but he'd let it get floppy enough that he had to sort of tuck it out of the way behind his ear in order to properly see what he was doing. He twirled his wand a few more times before finally nodding to himself and getting on with it.

"Auribus Aquta," he said as clearly as he could, giving his ear an overly enthusiastic tap and ultimately succeeding only in jabbing himself in the side of the head with his wand. Toby rubbed at the point of impact, though it hadn't really been painful at all. He was just... thinking.

It was tricky getting used to pointing and aiming your wand at your own head, that was something Toby had learnt. Especially as most of the spells he'd learnt in his life involved pointing his wand away from himself, and never at his own ear. But it was better practicing this way; better off accidentally blowing away your OWN ears than someone else's, right? Right.

Time to try again. Toby pointed his wand back at his right ear, with his head turned to the side and eyes straining to look back at his reflection for a decent view.

"Auribus Aquta." He tapped his ear again, lightly this tip, and focused on the top part of his ear, willing something to happen. He waited a few moments, watching closely for any sort if shape, but... no, still no.

Which was fine. Transfiguration was HARD; it always took Toby some time to get to grips with spells at first. Probably he needed more focus. That tended to be the common problem with his spell work. Okay alright okay, he could DO this.

Scarlet red? Fire red? ... Ruby red? There were so many choices. In the end, Zeke stared at the emblem on his robes, and the red in his tie.. yeah, one of those would be nice. Opting for the Gryffindor emblem red, Zeke concentrated on his eyebrow and imagining it BECOMING that colour. Willing it to happen.

Deeeeeeeeeeeep breath in, he raised his wand.

And as he tapped it down on his eyebrow, he uttered the words, "Capillus Colorum."

And now THIS looked weird. Scarlett and gold eyebrows... fascinating. Truly.

Okay so something was not right here. How come they didn't turn the color he wanted them to turn??? Something was way off... But if they changed colors then it meant the spell was working right? Then what the heck went wrong in the middle of the spell that made them turn BLUE? He didn't want one blue eyebrow. He wanted ORANGE!! Oh for Merlin's sake. What was going on?

Taking a deep breath, the Gryffindor held his wand up to his blue eyebrow. This time he did his best to focus on everything orange. Like... Wait, what the heck was orange? Uh. Cheese? ... The sunset? Fire...??? OH WAIT, oranges. Those were oranges. Were oranges named because they were orange? Or were oranges oranges because they were orange. Wait whut. Transfiguration. Ahem.

"Capillus Colorum!" Aaaaannnnddd.... ONE ORANGE EYEBROW! Heck, yes!!

He still felt weird about Quigley, and Dima wasn't really in the mood to fail at spellwork right now. But since this was Bellaire and she was still kind of scary (he didn't quite fancy getting yelled at, okay?), he focused on his mirror. More specifically, his eyebrows.

Practice, yes? Yes. Okay. Yes.

Incantation first, then. "Capillus Colorum." Merlin, that was a lot of syllables. "Ca-pil-lus Co-lor-um. Capillus Colorum."

"Auribus Aquta." Toby supplied the incantation with a corresponding tap to his right ear, glad to see he'd mastered the whole 'enthusiasm control' and wasn't accidentally skewering his head on the business end of his wand anymore. He focused very hard on trying to get that ear all pointed, and screwed up his face a little in concentration, but after some moments he was still quite sure it was a no-go.

Hmkay, so... maybe he needed a separate approach? Toby looked briefly away from his mirror and looked about the class for another sixth or seventh year, to see if he could get a sort of visual reference. His eyes found Ruby, and Toby watched as she made her ears go all pointed like it was no sweat. That was awesome, and in the end he had to consciously drag his gaze away and back to his own mirror. Now, could he manage something like that. Whether the answer was yes or no, he would only know for sure if he persevered.

"Auribus Aquta." Once again, Toby tapped his wand to the top of his ear and concentrated super hard on willing it to change, just like he'd seen Ruby do. And it seems to make all the difference because as he watched out of the corner of his eye, his the top of his right ear stretched out and morphed into what was quite clearly a point. It was such a weird sensation, too; Toby couldn't quite describe it.

"I did it," he said aloud without thinking about it, in a sort of half-surprised, half-casual-observation sort of way. Having switched his wand to his other had, Toby reached up and tentatively touched his ear, feeling for the point and grinning and how bizarre it felt. That was so cool.

Now, could he transfigure the other one and get them to match? Hopefully.

The motion was just a tap, yeah? Dima knew how to do THAT, and he also knew he wouldn't miss his eyebrow. Kyroh voiced weird concerns, did he know? But just in case, they DID have mirrors, so the third year was looking in his to make sure his wand didn't hit the wrong spot.

Okay. Whew. Eyebrow tap? Eyebrow tap. "Capillus Colorum!" Aaaand WHY wasn't his eyebrow changing color?

Oh. Hehe. He'd forgotten to picture a color. Had to do that, huh? Whoopsie. Go for Round Two?

Maybe it was because she was too worried about disappointing Professor Bellaire. Brooklyn refused to think there was any other reason why her spell hadn’t worked. She’d stopped focusing or something, worried that her eyebrow was going to disappear or something. Obviously nothing had happened, so she resolved to try again. She wasn’t going to get yelled at for giving up either. She just had to focus. Green. That’s what she needed to focus on. Making her eyebrow Slytherin green. That was the goal, but she’d take any shade of green right now. It wasn’t like it was going to be permanent. The professor wouldn’t let it be permanent. She knew that. She was safe.

Staring into the mirror, she raised her wand to her eyebrow again. “Capillus colorum,” she said, focusing intently on the spell and the color she wanted. Actually, she’d been so focused, she hardly realized anything had happened until she’d blinked, snapping herself out of the trance as she’d lowered her wand again. Huh. Her eyebrow was definitely green now. A pretty dark green, although it looked kind of weird with her other eyebrow still being red, and her hair. It just meant she needed to try and do the spell again on her other eyebrow. Copy whatever she’d done this time.

Sophia checked her watch..hmmm..still had a bit more time left but she supposed now was a good time to make her rounds...just to see if everyone still had their eyes and human heads instead of pumpkin ones.

"How are we doing? Is anyone struggling to complete their tasks? Do you all still ave your eyes and heads?" Now was a good enough time to speak up.

"I must ad that you will be keeping your coloured eyebrows and pointed ears until the next class so no one is to be 'trying' to reverse the spell." Did she make herself clear?

He would have been lying if he said that he wasn't dissapointed because he was. And although he wanted to question further, he didn't want to end up another night locked up in the criminal cell because he had a potion brewing that he needed to look at every now and then. So instead of opening his mouth to talk back, he did groan in annoyance but nothing else. At least he got bonus points, that never happened before! And as for the answer to his second question the Gryffindor nodded as he checked his reflexion in the mirror in front of him. He was mostly looking at his eyes and how he wished there was some kind of spell that could change the colors, make them an even color.

Maybe he should visit the library after this and look it up? But books, eww.

So it was well known that Kevin didn't like practising spells but because he had to use this spell on himself now, he decided to do a little practising of the incantation before pointing his wand at himself. Because he wasn't stupid. He looked at the board at the front of the class and began practising "capillos colurum..." he muttered and immediately felt like that wasn't right because when the Professor had said it it sounded different. "capi-capi-llus colorum?" he had definitely done good by practising first, Merlin knows what might have happened to HIM if he hadn't. "capillus colorum...capillus colorum"

Hearing the Professor's voice addressing all the students, Kevin blinked and looked around to see that he had been lacking behind and that some of the students already had weird ear shapes or different eyebrow colors.

He turned back to the mirror and pointed his wand at his right eyebrow and tapped it as he visualised and focused on himself changing his eyebrow color. He wanted red...red red red..but yellow was cool too..oh and green!...."Capillus Colorum!" he felt nothing but when he looked at the eyebrow in the mirror he noticed that his usual black eyebrow color began to change in to red!

He had done it! and at the first try as well-----"no no no!" the boy grabbed the mirror dramatically as he pushed his face closer to it to examine his eyebrow. It was changing in to another color...yellow this time" Kevin frowned as he watched it change again in to green and when basically all the colors of the rainbow had been seen he was left with.....a rainbow eyebrow. red near his nose, then yellow in the middle and green at the side.

Wait WHAT? they were supposed to have these eyebrow colors till the beginning of next class?! He was doomed.

Just as the young girl was about to give it ago on her other eyebrow she heard the Professor speak. Something about them keeping the color until the next lesson when the counter curse was taught. That wasn't suc- Whoa what?!

No way!

Frowning slightly Hady let out a deep sigh meeting her own reflection once more in the mirror set before her. Silver. Why did she have to pick silver? It probably could've been much worse but yeah she wasn't thrilled with this to say the least.

However stupid she looked it'd be even stupider to not do the other eyebrow. So shifting her attention back to what needed to be done Hady raised her wand up. With a light tap of her wand to her left eyebrow and a whispered "Capillus colorum!" she watched as her eyebrow changed to a nice shiny sparkly silver that matched the other eyebrow.

There done.

Cilla stopped checking her new eyebrows in the mirror and looked up as Professor Bellaire spoke. Her eyes widened slightly with shock as she realised that she'll be walking around Hogwarts with one black and one yellow eyebrow. Well, it certainly would be a conversation starter. Cilla prepared herself for some teasing and hoped that her temper would be kept in check.

How were they doing? They---or HE, was doing well. Thumbs up from Zeke. He still had his eyes functioning perfectly fine and his head was NOT a pumpkin - yet. So all was well.

But Professor Bellaire's additional note of caution rendered him silent..

Say what?

Huh?

Come again?

....

KEEP THE EYEBROWS AS THEY ARE? NO REVERSING THE SPELL?

...

Zeke's hand shot in the air. "Professor?" he started, head tilted to the side as he considered his thoughts. "You said we can't reverse the spell until the next class, but can we still change the colour?" Meaning, could he theoretically change his gold and scarlet eyebrows to normal brown? It still wouldn't be his natural colour, and it would still have the spell in effect... so.... was that an option?

What if he felt like blue tomorrow?

Or more green?

Or purple?

"Capillus colorum." Dalt repeated the spell a few times, pointing his wand to his eyebrow. He wasn't really concentrating, because he kinds of wanted his eyebrows to be, you know, normal and therefore didn't want them green. Eventually, though, he did settle on thinking green, because house pride and whatever other malarkey the people of Hogwarts thought was normal.

Eyeing himself in the mirror, and raising one eyebrow at a time, the first year rolled his eyes at his reflection. "Capillus colo-....."

You what now?

Dalton's wand hand dropped, and his eyebrows raised as he raised his head over the mirror to look at the professor. Was she crazy? There was no way he was trying the spell now, and now he was glad that it hadn't worked at his previous attempts. He was perfectly happy with his normal coloured brown eyebrows that matched his hair and did exactly what eyebrows were supposed to do, thank you very much.
