So, now that he had that down, Adi would just revert the vase back to its normal size. "Finite!" With that, he did the corresponding wand movement causing the vase to spring back to its original height a moment later.

Excellent! Time to try Shrinking it again!

"Diminuendo!'' With a smart point of the wand, white light shot from it and hit the blue vase squarely in the middle. A second or two later, the Hufflepuff was looking at a mini vase. "I think it looks much better when it's small,'' he muttered. "I could shrink some flowers to fit in there...''

"Finite!" The second year cast with a point of her wand at the goblet. That should do it! As it shifted to it's original size she smiled to herself and picked it up once again rising to her feet and crossing the room.

Reaching the trunk she used the same unlocking spell as earlier and opened the lid setting her item back inside. Closing the lid again she pocketed her wand now that she was done. It was a good feeling that she had accomplished this charm with nearly no trouble at all.

Heading for the door she waved at everyone that was still there before heading outside for some much needed fresh air.

"Diminuendo!" Pointing her wand better than she did in class, the second year watched as a blue-grey light shot out from her wand and hit the teacup just right of center, shrinking the object before her eyes. Bam! Considering the fact that she missed the spider completely the first time she had tried the charm, Ophelia had come a long way. Which was pretty much the point of school anyway, right? So the kid had done a good thing.

Now that the object was all shrunkified, it was time to select another from the pile. Heading back over to all of the bigger objects, the twelve year old looked around for something juuuust right to shrink. Because that was just the way the blonde was. It had to be a cool object that she was shrinking or else she wouldn't be into the exercise and completely fail. Also, she still had a jar of shrunk spiders in her dorm room, hidden away in the suitcase. That was Newton's coming home present. A big ol' spider scare.

Rummaging through the pile again, Ophelia found an old wooden box among the other cool objects. This had potential. The Ravenclaw grabbed the box and headed back to her space, setting it on the ground in preparation. Here she went

So Dante was going to do Professor Q's homework since the guy was cool other than the whole lose 5 points for ACCIDENTALLY breaking a jar. He should feel honored. Dante didn't do homework just for any old teacher. He felt like homework was a waste of time unless it was fun.

See he even remembered the spell he needed to practice. No looking in his very few notes for him.

Nope

It was Diminuendo.

So Eden had the spell down--it was very much a tongue-tying spell, so going over the spell before casting it was probably best. Now time to trrrrry the spell on the SLINKEEEH!

She loved slinkies. The cutest little toys EVER!

"DIMINUENDO!" she said...DRAMATICALLY AND LOUDLY--and the slinky INSTANTLY began to shrink SOOOO much that by the time it was done, it was the size of her finger nail...

OH MY MERLIN! EDEN WAS DEEAD.

IT WAS THE CUTEST SLINKY THAT EVER EXISTED.

She almost didn't wanna' turn it back to normal--but she was supposed to be practicing, and she had LEARNED that saying it all loud and passionate and with FORCE--yeah--apparently it produced a BIIIIIG AFFECT...or small.

Small affect. HEHE.

Norah skipped over to the trunk again and laid her mini duck on the floor and pointed her wand at its center. "Finite!" TA DA! Once the rubber duck was back to its normal size, she turned to the trunk and cast, "Alohomora!" Boom boom BOOOM, she was on a ROLL. With the trunk unlocked, she pulled the top up and returned the rubber duck to its midst before sticking her head back in there to find another object to shrink. OOOOH, a teddy bear! SCORE.

She pulled the stuffie from the inside and closed the trunk before skipping back to her empty spot. Shrink-y time, woooh! Pointing her wand at the bear, she said, "Diminuendo!" and watched happily as it shrunk. It didn't get as small as the duck, though, so she pointed her wand again and said, "Diminuendo!" again until it had become so small she could fit it in her pocket. Wheeeeee! This spell was LOADS more fun without spiders.

Well Dante guessed it was finally time to get started on this homework thing. Don't want to be lazy on something he wants to do.

And of course, Professor Q would not make it that easy. He had to lock up the stuff he had to shrink. It would be fun just to shrink the whole chest. But nah, to much drama if Professor Q walked in on him doing that.

"Alohomora" Bam. There it was open and Dante took out a couple random things. He did not care what they were as long as the spell would work on them.

Now for the main event. Actually using this spell. Thank Merlin no spiders this time. Disgusting things.

"Diminuendo"

Merlin, watching something shrink was awesome. Now if it would only work on humans. Talk about an awesome way to cage/imprison people.

Not that Dante would ever do that.

Ever.

Margo was beyond frustrated with this stupid spell. The bloody thing only worked every other time and she was SOOOOOOO over it. In fact, she was just going to leave this bloody room right now. Who cared if she didn't get enough points for the house. Who cared if she didn't complete the homework!! She had, had enough of this dumb spells.

Pointing her wand at the teddy bear. "I don't even care if you disappeared you got so small!" Oh jeez, now she was talking to the bear. Margo was flat out loosing her mind.

One last try. "Diminuendo!" Margo nearly shouted with all her muster, and the teddy bear shrank so much he was only an inch tall. ...... well now the spell decided to work!

Caleb hadn't done TOOOOOO badly during the shrinking items class...but he hadn't done amazing either. So for once, Caleb was actually glad the homework contained a practical portion. He usually was content to just write essays - he was a visual learner, really, not practical, and just writing things usually helped info stick better than actual practice. Unless it came to shrinking spiders, apparently.

There were already a number of kids there practicing, and he smiled and gave a nod of acknowledgement to the ones he recognized like Adi. He then headed over to the chest to find it...locked? REALLY? Come ON Quigley!

Clearing his throat, he pulled out his wand and muttered "Alohomora!" as he moved his wand in a backwards S motion. He then grabbed a few things that seemed like good targets to shrink - an old Quidditch cup trophy (clearly fake, it wasn't even real gold!) a stuffed basilisk (which he could sling around his neck and do a funny snake dance with if he so wanted to) and a random muggle lamp that had definitely seen better days. This would do to start...

He walked over to the corner and decided to work with the basilisk plush first. He cleared his throat and pointed right at the stuffed snake and muttered "Diminuendo!". He watched with a grin as the snake started to shrink shrink shrink...down to the size of a small handheld plush. D'awwww. He could fit it in his pocket!

Kate had entered the annex just after some older boy. She had planned to really do her own thing, not join in with anybody else right now, but one look at the boy just ahead of her, and she realized she needed help. She followed the boy to the side of the room he chose and watched him perform the spell. "Good job," she said, deciding to approach him with something positive.

Ohh, a prefect! Perfect. "My name's Kate, and I was wondering if you could show me that unlocking spell you just did," she added. She'd known the incantation for years but never the wand movement. She certainly didn't want to try it out for the very first time on a professor's locked trunk. There really wasn't much else for her to say now. She'd complimented his wandwork, given him her name, and now asked for his help. The rest was up to him. So Kate settled for shifting her weight from one foot to the other to pass the silence that settled in.

Caleb jumped slightly when he realized someone had been watching him...a young someone at that. She couldn't have been older than a firstie...what was she doing? Had she missed class or something? At first he was annoyed...people watching him made him nervous! Go away child...

Oh, wait, she was asking for help. DUH. Caleb had forgotten about that whole 'prefects help the younger students' thing for a second. He chuckled and nodded. "Thanks, and nice to meet you Kate...I'm Caleb. It's really easy once you get the hang of it," he assured her. He pointed his wand at the heavy lock, which seemed to be resetting itself after every successful opening, and cleared his throat.

"The incantation is 'Alohomora' and you move your wand in a backwards S over the lock," he explained before shouting "Alohomora!" and did said wand movement. He did it kind of slowly, so Kate could really watch and see what he had done. Once it opened, he closed it again and then gestured to her. "Ok, you try," he assured her with a smile.

While he waited for her to try the spell out, he turned back to the basilisk. "Finite!" he muttered, watching as the snake returned to it's normal size. Then, he pointed at the snake again and muttered "Diminuendo!" watching as it shrunk yet again. Was it smaller than last time? He thought so...

Cilla concentrated really hard as she aimed her wand at the top.

"Diminuendo!" Cilla said firmly.

Sure enough, the top had shrunken so much that it could easily fit in the palm of her hand. Cilla was proud that she was doing well at this particular charm. She hoped that this was a sign of things to come.

The Charms homework was easier than Nicole had expected. Seeing as how angry the professor had been during the lesson, she was afraid he would present them with so much work that she would be a graduating Hogwarts before she could complete it.

She walked into the Charms annexe - what did annexe even mean? - with her wand safe in her robes pocket. She looked around with her eyes wide. It seemed like a nice place, and the girl wondered if she would be able to visit here more often, maybe just to read and spend free time. It was not difficult to find the chest the professor mentioned. She made her way towards it and found out with dismay that it was locked.

The first thought that popped up in Nicole's mind was to ask the professor for help. Then, she decided to use her own knowledge to solve the problem. It would also show other people what she could do! She pulled out her wand from her pocket and cast the spell, "Alohomora." The click sound told Nicole that it had worked. She stuck her hand inside the chest and pulled out the first thing she touched - a cauldron. Satisfied with her find, she carried it to the wide window sills, where she sat down, placing the cauldron down next to her.

Fortunately, Nicole had remembered the incantation of the spell they had learned. She had only succeeded in performing the spell a couple of times during the lesson, so she was determined to get more practice this time. "Di-min-u-en-do," she muttered, first practicing the incantation. It was a good plan, as it had been a while since she had said it. "Di-min-u-en-do, Dim... Diminuendo," she said, getting the hang of it again.

Margo thought the teddy bear was so cute small she was NOT going to return it, to it's original state. Nope, in fact she was just going to slip it into her pocket!!! It was adorable! Margo figured she should fix the jar she was working on before and practice with that some more, turning toward the jar she noticed that it was already back to normal size. OH man!! Margo really hoped her teddy wouldn't do that.

That's okay, saved her from doing that spell or whatever to fix it. Smiling Margo turned her wand to the jar. "Diminuendo!" Margo said focusing on the jar, and it began to shrink again!!!! "I think I got it!!" Margo said smiling.

Cilla was ready to conclude her work. She pointed her wand at the tiny top and said clearly, "Finite," which resulted in the object being returned to its normal size.

Cilla got up off the floor, picking up the top as she did so and walking over to the chest. She aimed her wand at the lock and performed the Unlocking Spell. The chest opened and Cilla placed the top back inside before closing the chest and departing the room.

Shrinking flowers and putting them in the vase gave Adi and idea. It wasn't like he was going to be giving the shrunken vase to anyone but hey, he was going to do this for his own practice, fun and amusement.

Still sitting, Adi turned his upper body toward the trunk. It was probably locked again, yeah? "Alohomora!'' He performed the backward S shape. The lid flipped open. "Accio flower!" Another wand movement was done, this time an upside down smile... a sad smile shape, then.

Concentrating, the Hufflepuff tilted his head as he watched the trunk. Honestly, he wasn't expecting anything but seconds later a red rose came shooting towards him. Woah! There had actually been flowers in there? Artificial ones of course but still flowers never the less. He had only just caught the rose when another one crashed into his face. Now he had two roses to work with! No, wait. Make that three. One more had landed in his lap.

"The more the merrier,'' Adi said happily as he arranged the three roses in front of him. "Diminuendo! Diminuendo! Diminuendo!'' Point! Point! Point! Three mini flowers now lay before him. Pleased with himself, the Puffer stuck them in the mini vase. Perfect!

Turning his head to see the Puffer Prefect, Zeke grinned at him. "Thanks," heh, it was pretty cool that he'd watched. And it was cooler still that he'd gotten it right.

Chuffed with his first practice, Zeke reversed the charm by uttering a simple "Finite." With the pot at it's pre-shrinking size, Zeke took it up and moved it a short distance away, and this time remained standing. He wanted to make sure he could perform the charm without the need for close proximity, cause if he had a predator coming at him, it'd do him little good to confront it when it was within striking distance. He liked living on the edge, he just didn't like falling over it without a bungee cord. Yep.

Pointing his Larch in the pots direction, Zeke tried the charm for a second time, "Diminuendo!"

So, he had gotten the hang of this Charm, yeah? This pretty much pleased Adi. But how about one last try before he left? "Finite!" The vase and three flowers were returned to their original sizes. Why not make them all shrink TOGETHER?

Concentrating fully, the Hufflepuff fifth year pointed his wand at them. "Diminuendo!" Would you look at that?! He had done it! Everything shrank once again. "Think I'm done here,'' he said to himself and scooped up the thing he had used for practice. Getting to his feet, Adi said, "I'll see you around, Zeke. Keep up the good spell work.'' Gotta encourage the little ones, after all.

Back at the chest, he for the last time set the vase and artificial roses back to normal, replaced them and headed out of the Annexe. It had been a great bit of practice.

Okay, Margo was pretty sure she finally had the hang of this spell. She hoped so anyway! So making the jar back to it's original size, a spell that she didn't seem to have any trouble with even though THAT wasn't the one they were suppose to be learning.

Looking at the spell and smiling, she could do this! "Diminuendo" Margo said casting the spell for what felt like the hundredth time and to great delight the jar shrunk and Margo finally felt like she had a good handle on this spell.

"Finally got it!" She said! This was great, she felt like was learning and it was awesome! So with that, Margo departed the room.

Guess Dante will have to practice that some more to get credit for this. Can't Professor Q just watch him do it awesome once and get credit. Seemed like a good plan for Dante and the nap happy Professor Q.

Oh well.

Next thing up.

See that Professor Q. Perfect again. Dante should treat himself to some food after this.

He felt he deserved some.

Eden played for a good...five minutes with the tiny slinky. GOSH IT WAS SO CUTE. She just COULDN'T get over it at all. Ugh.

"Finite--" she finally said, though, and the slinky turned back to it's original size. WHEEE. She stroked it once with her pointer finger before clearing her throat once more. This time, she'd definitely try for a more........or rather, less dramatic change. She only wanted it SLIGHTLY smaller.

Sigh.

"Diminuendo!" she said forcefully but not as loudly or passionately as before, and when her spell rammed into the slinky, it shrunk half it's size.

SO. It was little, but not as little as the last time...and Eden smirked. This was so...INTERESTING. She wanted to just...she wanted to play around with this! See what inflections in her voice could get with different levels of her volume--and her intent--if she pictured the size right? Yeah? She pretty much found it fascinating.

Ravenclaw.

Smirk.

He should just leave all the things shrunk and have Professor Q reverse that spell. Sure it was easy. But it was just one more thing to annoy him and make him to.

Well he was running out of random things to shrink. So that must man his time in this room was coming to an end. Shame he was just starting to have fun.

Dane was build a tiny army of minions. Emphasis on the tiny part.

Angel thought that everything was going well but she wanted to sort things out with her wand work because she felt it was a bit wonky at the moment. "Finite!" Angel smiled as she watched the object go to the right size, she couldn't believe that things could be so easy and she wanted to be able to use this all the time.

"Diminuendo!" Angel smiled as she continued to practice the wand movement. "Diminuendo!" Angel knew she had that down but she wanted to practice the wand movement just a few more time, she did it one time, then two times and then a final time just to make sure everything was right and it was looking like she was, so now she wanted to make things small again and she wanted to make sure she could do the spell fully and that it wasn't a one off.

Norah picked up the little teddy and hugged it to her chest. It was even CUTER when it was all small. As much as she wanted to keep it, she knew it wouldn't be fair to take away anybody's toy, ESPECIALLY a professor's, so she set the ickle teddy down on the floor and pointed her wand at it. "Finite!" The bear enlarged itself back to its normal size and looked even more cuddle-y than before, which Norah tried to ignore as she walked back towards the trunk. Being a good person was HARD sometimes, y'know.

After performing the backwards S shaped movement and murmuring, "Alohomora," Norah tearfully returned the bear, and felt around before pulling out a potted plant. COOL! This would be fun to shrink, yep. Itty bitty flower reasons, obviously.

"Finite--" she flicked her wand at the baby slinky and turned it back to normal. But. She was getting BORED with the slinky--therefore, she went to put it back in the trunk to get a NEW item. Because yeah.

Practice.

Unlocking the trunk with her wand once more, she dropped the slinky back into its depths and stuck her hand in once more--it was like...SURPRISE. What would she GET this time?!

She pulled her hand out and grinned at the little ball she had pulled out. It was a good size to juuust fit in her hand. Yep! It was bouncy TOO! She bounced it on her way back to her little spot on the floor before PLOPPPPING down, giggling as she bounced it a few times more.

FUN TIMES IN THE CHARMS ANNEX!

"Okay--" she set it down gently in front of her before clearing her throat. Hereeee we go. "Diminuendo--" she said, calmly, almost casually--and when her spell hit the object THIS time, it only became SLIGHTLY smaller.
