So far so good. Nothing wrong with his potion and that was without the confidence of its effects to help him out. "Scourgify!" Benny cast on his metal stirer once he had retrieved it from his supplies. Then the Gryffindor slipped the one tip carefully into the brewing liquid and began stiring the mixture in a clockwise motion.

One...two...three...four...five...six...seven.

There was a difference in wait times due to the cauldron material?

Benny inwardly groaned at the knowledge. So used to using the standard pewter one he had unless another type was specifically suggested, it seemed he was now stuck with seven minutes to wait for the next step. Oh well...he wouldn't be bored...Culloden providing another prepatory step to take care of while he thought his decision over. Glancing at his watch to figure out the time he had, the fifth year proceeded to move on to said step.

"Scourgify..." he cast again, this time to clean a bowl to work with. In it, he added the sheep wool, fox fur and salamander blood before mixing it well. With a quick cleaning spell on a teaspoon as well, he added four of them into the cauldron when the hand on his watch marked that the seven minutes were up.

Kyroh was READY to LEARN and make POTIONS and just have a whole bunch of fun because it was his favourite class okay?? He was SUPER ready and paying CLOSE attention-until something caught his eye. Leaning in close to get a better look a smile erupted on his face as he took notice to the small ladybug that was making its way across his table.

”Hey Miss. bug! What was it doing here??” Did ladybugs even come out during the winter? Maybe this one hadn’t gotten the memo that it wasn’t suppose to be out yet. Attention completely on the bug, Kyroh trailed his new spotted friend with his index finger all across the table.

He would have probably continued following it too if it hadn’t taken fight and disappeared somewhere else into the classroom.

The third year gave a single way before turning his attention back to the class. What was he-OH POTIONS.

Nooow he was behind. That wasn’t good.

Beetles FIRST. Looking through his potions kit Kyroh plucked out seven. He WOULD have been good to go but…..

Culloden said NOT to drop the beetles in from a distance. But…they were suppose to be grounded. So that wouldn’t really matter would it? Hesitantly the third year looked around.

No one else seemed to have grounded their beetles but he really couldn’t tell. He was a bit behind. Grabbing his mortar and pestle he quickly began grounding up the scarab beetles. Once he was sure that they were grounded up enough he carefully added it to the water.

Next was lions fur? Grabbing a handful Kyroh let half go back in back in the bag before adding what was in his hand in the potion. GOOD. He was catching up faster than he thought.

Looking up at the board again quickly Kyroh grabbed his metal stirrer. Seven times? Easy. Clockwise? Even easier. Quickly string as FAST AS HE COULD the boy grinned the moment he reached seven and withdrew the stirrer. PERFE- Oh. He probably should have cleaned the stirrer first. Oh well.

HE WOULD STILL CATCH UP AND-

.....Cauldron type determined the time.

Blinking Kyroh gazed at his cauldron and then tilted his head and tried to look under it. Was there some sort of stamp that said what kind of was? Looking over at Toby the boy shrugged.

"Professor? I didn't get the identifying your cauldron type owl, sir." It was just silvery. Like always?

He wanted to ask if it REALLY mattered but of course it did. It was potions. Everything mattered.

In the meanwhile his wand came out again as he grabbed a bowl. "Scourgify" Dropping two handfuls of the fox fur in the bowl he carefully moved on, taking out a vial of salamander blood. Carefully the spoon was cleaned and two tea spoons were measured and dropped into the bowl. Lastly Kyroh measured out what seemed like 300 grams of whool (it SEEMED like it so it had to be right? catching up was a tiring thing) and he began to stir.

Third Year
Potion: Trust Me-self

• enhances self-confidence and helps the drinker persuade others

Ingredients:
7 ground scarab beetles
a handful of lion's neck fur
two handfuls of fox tail fur
two tea spoons of salamander blood
300 grams of sheep wool
a sprig of chopped peppermint

Steps:
1. Fill the cauldron with water and light a fire at maximum
2. Ground scarab beetles
3. Add scarab beetles to the cauldron, do not plop them.
4. Add half the lions fur
5. Stir clockwise seven times with a metal stirrer
6. Wait...??????? minutes?
7. Mix the blood and the fox fur and the sheep wool all together like they are friends.

Bleu loved how kind and reassuring Dylan was. Even with class work he was supportive. She gave him a small smile, "Thank's. It's just not like me to get something so simple wrong. Oh, well. Lets get this thing done shall we?" She winked at him and looked at the next 3 steps of instructions, writing them down in her notebook.

Ok, so...she was to stir clockwise seven times. She grabbed her stirrer with her right hand and began mixing clockwise, counting to herself...
"1...2...3...4...5...6...7."

Now...she had a brass pot which meant she needed to let it brew for 5 minutes, which was more than enough time to get the next step done. She quickly cleaned out her bowl then added the sheep's wool, fox fur, and salamander blood, mixing it together thoroughly.

Once the 5 minutes was up, she added 4 teaspoons of the mixture, counting them as she poured.
"1...2...3...4."

She then waited for the next steps. She leaned in to Dylan, seeing he was waiting as well, "You are pretty good at potions." She grinned.

Margo had asked an excellent question about the lion's fur. She never ceased to amaze him with that brain of hers. Anyway, they were moving forward! Adi grabbed the metal stirrer, cleaned it using the usual Scouring charm on it then proceeded to stir.

One, two three, four five, six, seven times!

Aha. So they had to wait based on the type of cauldron they had? Adi knew fifth years required two- pewter and copper. But he was using the usual one- pewter. So the wait time would be seven minutes. He checked his watch before he started combining the sheep wool and fox fur with the salamander blood in a magically cleaned bowl.

Mix, mix, mix!

When everything was well combined and the seven minutes were up, the Hufflepuff grabbed a tea spoon. "Scourgify!" Once that was done, four spoons of the mixture were measured out and added. A few more steps down!

Angel listened to the Professor and sighed, why did they always have to stir a number of times why couldn't they just stir it all together once and leave it at that, it would be totally better and much easier.

Angel cleaned her metal stirrer and then she put it in the cauldron and stirred clockwise... one... two... three... four... five... six... seven. Angels smiled when that was done and look at the next instruction.

She hated waiting but then she saw that there was something she had to do, which was good as it meant she didn't have to just stand there doing nothing.

"Scourgify!" Angel pointed her wand at the bowl she would be using and smiled when it became clean. She looked at what she would need. She then added the wool, fox fur and salamander blood before looking at her nails and her uniform... if she got any of the blood on her uniform or in her nails then the Professsor would be hearing all about it as she moaned like crazy.

Angel started to carefully mix the stuff in the bowl because obviously she wanted to make sure it was all mixed in properly and that it was mixed in well. She then decided to clean the tea-spoon because she wanted everything to be perfect... when the seven minutes were up she added four tea-spoons of the mixture to the cauldron and waited to see what she had to do next.

Hm, more steps. Brooklyn had looked up from her notes as Professor Culloden had spoken again, before just quietly pulling her kit over to look for her metal stirrer. It was in there somewhere. She remembered packing it, but it was eluding her. She refused to get frustrated in this class though, and finally she found one end and pulled it out. Immediately casting “Scourgify” on it, she stuck it into her potion once it was clean and stirred seven times. Clockwise. Counting out each circle in her head. At least it wasn’t more than seven, since she had a feeling her arm might hurt if she had to stir more.

The cauldron was obviously pewter. She hadn’t been able to talk her parents into getting her anew one before school started, so it was obviously pewter. That meant seven minutes, and she looked at the clock just to know when to start timing. She didn’t have a timer either, which elicited a bit of a look toward those who did. She could still time her potion correctly. She knew she could. She’d double checked the time as she pulled a bowl closer to her, though, casting “Scourgify” yet again. Now that the bowl was clean, it was time to mix. 300 grams of sheep’s wool, two handfuls of fox fur, and two tablespoons of salamander blood. Ew, she thought, Scourgifying a spoon and using it to mix everything together. Bloody wet fur. She definitely didn’t want to smell it, and she definitely hoped those weren’t some of the ingredients she should use in her workshop potion. But then, she wouldn’t have been the one drinking that one.

Looking up at the clock again, she saw she still had a couple minutes left of her time, so she set the bowl aside to add the steps into her notes, keeping an eye on the clock. Seven minutes. Time for the icky fuzz. Measuring out four tablespoons of the stuff, she added it to her potion. Back to waiting, and trying not to think of what they were going to do with the excess blood-wool-fur mixture.

LOL they had to make a potion that boosted their self-confidence?

Oh MAN. Grayson was laughing to himself. The boy already had enough confidence to fill up the black lake, any more and he might as well burst. But this was gonna be interesting, wasn't it? He half wondered what this kinda potion would do for someone like him, a self-confident guy with a large ego to boot. And had Culloden mentioned something about what would happen if someone took too much of it? Dude was curious.

And it turned out he had missed a LOT of the steps to take. Lulz. Good going, Whitlock. It was ONLY your favourite lesson ever.

Deciding to finally crack on with it instead of thinking about the dynamics of confidence levels, Grayson pulled out his wand and called, "Scourgify!" Important step, that one was. Checking that the cauldron was completely clean, he cast the water spell as well and lit the fire at maximum. There. First step done and it wasn't even that hard.

Next came the addition of the scarab beetles, which needed to be added in carefully. Cool. Taking up the mortar and pestle, the Slytherin gave both of them a quick clean before starting the process of grinding the scarab beetles until he was satisfied with how ground up they were. Then, he added them into his potion, making sure that they weren't plopped in. Kinda didn't want to mess up in this class and all.

Half the lion hair? Lulz, how did anyone even MANAGE to get this particular piece of ingredient? Going near a lion didn't sound like his idea of fun, forget about trying to acquire half of its hair. Shrugging, he took up half of the lion's neck fur and added it into his cauldron.

Picking up a metal stirrer, Grayson gave it a quick magical clean -- since everything in potions needed to be cleaned beforehand and all -- before dipping it into his cauldron. Seven stirs clockwise, was it? One......... two.......... three......... four........... five......... six.......... seven! Done.

As for his cauldron type, heh. They had to have a pewter cauldron, wasn't it? But MAN, wouldn't it be great to have a gold cauldron one day? He thought so. Wouldn't mind having one of those bad boys, if he could help it. And his supply list said stone AND brass cauldrons but this particular one was pewter sooooo he was gonna stick with that one, which meant that he was gonna have to wait seven minutes.

Which started........... NOW.

Grabbing himself a bowl, Grayson gave it a quick "Scourgify!" before moving on to add in 300 grams of the sheep's wool. The scales in which the sheep's wool were measured on were cleaned, of course. He wasn't DUMB. And only 300 as well, no more and no less. Two handfuls of fox fur went in there as well, along with two teaspoons -- CLEAN teaspoons, mind you -- of salamander blood. Mix well? Wow, this really did sound like cooking, didn't it? Only cooler and better, obviously.

So mixing was happening, and a lot of it as well. His blue eyes did occasionally flicker up to the clock to see if his time was up yet or not. Couldn't miss that seven minute mark, after all.

.............. done? Was it done? SQUINT.

Yeah, he was gonna go with it being done. It LOOKED good enough to him. Once the seven minutes were up, Grayson cleaned another teaspoon and added four teaspoons of the mixture to the cauldron. There.

And will you look at that? He was ALL caught up now. Smirk.

Talking was being done. Once more the small girls gaze shifted to the Professor and the board behind him when the next instructions appeared there. Snatching up her quill she took down the needed notes and frowned at them...she'd really have to pay attention with this. No more messing up.

Reading and then re-reading the instructions she grabbed her metal stirrer and cast a quick 'Scourgify' on it. Dipping the metal stirrer into her cauldron she stirred the potion clockwise seven times...counting silently to herself as she did.

Her cauldron type was important for the next step. Hers was pewter..sadly. Oh well. So a seven minute wait was what she had now.

While she waited she grabbed herself a bowl, her scales and measuring teaspoons all of which she magically cleaned like she had everything else. Using the scales she measured out three hundred grams of sheep's wool before placing it into her clean bowl. Next went two handfuls of the fox fur. Did handful sizes matter cause her hands were kinda tiny...she hoped it didn't make a difference. Last into the bowl she measured out two two spoons of salamander blood.

After cleaning a spoon with a cleaning spell she set to mixing up the stuff in the bowl. It looked gross but oh well it had to be done. Mix. Mix. Glance at the clock...mix some more.

Another check to the clock told her seven minutes was just about up. 'Scourgifing' her spoon and measuring teaspoons once more Hady then carefully measured out four teaspoons of the mixture from the book into her cauldron. Done.

At least for now cause Hady was certain there was quite a bit more to this potion. After cleaning everyone she used once again she kept her eyes on the board for the next set of instructions and on her potion.

Cosgrach clapped his hands twice to draw their attention. Then, he tapped his wand on the board and the word 'Dominentur' appeared.

"Okay, this potion requires a spell, so without your wands, please practise saying 'Dominentur'. Doh-mee-nen-tur. Let's say it all together." To let him see if anyone got a problem with it. He hoped not. He didn't join the choir, but waited for them to repeat it and tried to catch if any of them had a problem with it. Once they were done, the rest of the step appeared.

"Dominentur,'' he repeated when the man said to. "Dominentur... Dominentur... Dominentur... Dominentur,'' Adi continued to say to himself as he lowered his head once more but this time to scribble down the incantation. Nope, no problems with saying that incantation.

The Puffer now stood before the cauldron, his wand at the ready. He gave it a wave while saying, ''Dominentur!'' As soon as that was done, he emptied the rest of the mixture from the previous step into the cauldron. Immediately the potion turned black. Awesomeee!

What was up with her daydreaming in the middle of class? When she had finally snapped to she realized that she was a few steps behind. EEK. She couldn't rush though just in case that she messed something up. If that happened then she would have to start all the way over, and that would suck.

Paying attention to the board, AJ looked to see where it was that she had left off. Metal stirrer. Okay, she had one of those. Knowing that she needed to clean it first, AJ pulled out her wand. "Scourgify." There. Now she could get down to business.

Making sure to go the correct direction, the lion began to stir clockwise seven times. Knowing that she had an easy time of getting distracted, AJ ticked off the amount of times she had stirred in her head. Next was the waiting game. Oh, how she hated to wait.

Oh, but she had to mix something up in the meantime. This was much better. AJ mixed the sheep wool, fox fur and salamander blood up while she waited. The third year made sure to get the measurements correct. Once she waited the right amount of time for her cauldron she cleaned the spoon needed for measuring and dumped the four teaspoons of mixture in.

Moving on...

Practice time. Dominentur. That sounded hard. Please don't let her stutter over this word and possibly mess up everything that she had worked so hard to finish. "Dominentur...dominentur...dominentur." Yeah, she wasn't at all confident about the way she was saying that at all.

Time to see if she could get it to work. AJ waved her wand. "Dominentur." She was loud, she was proud, she was confident. AJ added the rest of her mixture. Please be black, please be black. She peered down and was elated when the color was actually black. She had done it. She had actually done it. "Yessss!" Her fist pumped up into the air. "Victory is mine." Because to her it really was a victory.

Clap. The clapping jolted Hady to attention her head snapping up to look at the Professor and the board behind her. "Doh-mee-nen-tur" She recited clearly when they were told to do so. That was a little different...having the whole class repeat the spell together like that but it was also kinda cool. Easier to tell if someone was saying it wrong and needed help.

Repeating the spell several times over under her breath "Dominentur...dominentur...dominentur" she grabbed her quill taking down the rest of the directions before moving on.

Pulling out her wand she got to her feet to stand beside her cauldron. Waving her wand over the potion she spoke the spell clearly, "Dominentur!" That part finished she picked up the bowl from earlier with the gross looking mixture inside and added it into the cauldron. Right away the contents inside turned a deep black. Awesome!

With a smug smirk on her face Hady sunk back down onto her chair and waited for whatever might be next.

Austin copied down the rest of the notes, and even the pronunciation of how the word 'Dominentur' was said. "Doh-meen-eh-tur. Dohmee-nen-tur. Dohminentur. Dominentur." The Ravenclaw made sure to practice the spell a few times before actually performing it. He was not going to try it for the first time on the potion, and have it explode. That would surly be a cause for more detention, and Austin's arms were still feeling it from the last time.

Once he had to pronunciation correct, he took his wand and took a deep breath. It was always better to be calm when creating a potion. "Dominentur." He said while waving his wand. Nothing happened. That was strange, was something supposed to happen? Surely there had to be a small pop, or color change? There was supposed to be a color change after he added the mixture, but he wanted to make sure he did it right the first time. But he was the son of a great Healer, there was no way he got it wrong. So with a shrug of his shoulders, he added the rest of the mixture. Again, nothing happened. But after a few seconds, the color did start to darken. Once it was fully black, Austin sat back happily in his chair.

Janelle smiled when Professor Culloden announced that he liked her sister. If only she could live up to Jasmine's high standard. She really wanted to be as good a student as her sister was.......no, she wanted to be even better.

Now though, it was time to get back to work. Janelle copied down the next set of instructions and turned her attention to her potion. It looked like she had a little more cleaning to do before she could proceed with her brewing. She gathered a metal stirrer and two bowls and used her wand to Scourgify them. Once the items were clean, Janelle placed the metal stirrer into her cauldron and began to stir in a clockwise direction. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.

Peeking at her notes, Janelle knew that she now had to wait. Her cauldron was made of brass so it would be a five minute wait for her. In the meantime, she had other things to do. She checked the time on her watch and then searched for her sheep's wool. Putting some wool in her already cleaned measuring cup, Janelle weighed it on her scale. Then she added and subtracted wool until she has 300 grams. She dumped the wool into her bowl and added the fox tail fur. Then Janelle took her teaspoon and measured out two teaspoons of salamander blood. The blood went into the bowl with the wool and fur. She mixed everything together and mixed it well. Janelle checked her watch and found that the time was nearly up.

When five minutes had passed, Janelle carefully measured four teaspoon of the mixture one at a time. Then she added each teaspoon to the cauldron. She paused to take a breath and wipe her brow with her sleeve. As she completed the last step, Professor Culloden was moving on to the next step and it involved......a spell. Janelle listened carefully and then added the information to her notes.

Following the Professor's lead, Janelle repeated, "Doh-mee-nen-tur, Doh-mee-nen-tur, Dominentur" She repeated the incantation a few more times until she felt comfortable with the word. Now it was time to try the spell for real. Janelle grabbed her wand and cleared her throat. Then she gave her wand a dramatic wave and said, "Dominentur". She was almost afraid to look inside her cauldron. "Please be black, please be black", Janelle thought to herself. She certainly did not want to fail on her very first potion. Finally gathering the nerve to look, Janelle saw a black liquid inside of her cauldron. ""Thank you Merlin", she said under her breath.

The Gryffindor's head quickly popped up at the sound of the clapping, though he did try to play it off and look less eager. Pft. Potions. Pft class. Pft. He was totally cool. It's not like this one potion could actually change his outlook on life or whatever. Yeah. Definitely not. He didn't even want to take the potion to-- his thoughts were suddenly interrupted though as he took a good long stare at the word written on the board. What the heck was a Dominetur and how come that wasn't on the list of ingredients?

O_____O He was so incredibly excited to get to try this potion and now the entire thing was going to fail just because he didn't pack a 'Dominetur' in his potion kit. Wait. HUH? It was a spell?... Oh well uh. Zander knew that. Totally knew that from the beginning. Riiiiight. A spell. "Doh-meee-nen-tur," he droned in with the chorus of other voices in the room.

Then, taking his wand in hand the Gryffindor waved it around like so before saying "Dominentur," as instructed. He basically then ducked his head right over the cauldron to watch if anything special-- oop. He had to add the rest of the mixture in. Right. Doing that now, sir no need to worry! Zander Adair was not screwing it up this time! And now to watch it very carefully to see the special things-- YES! It was black. Which meant, perfect right? Basically Sophie Brown level potioneer right here. Basically.

This potion was really easy so far, which made Lux feel they would be done soon. That sucked because she could spend all class making potions and they were a really fun distraction because she loved them.

A new spell was added to the board, and she had never heard of it before. Raising her hand, she had a question. "What does the spell do?" Hopefully this wasn't a dumb question, but she wasn't sure. Some things like the different waiting times made sense to her, but she had never heard of this spell.

In the meantime she began to practice so that the incantation was correct. "Dominentur... Dominentur... Dominentur..." Once she was sure it was correct, Lux picked up her wand and waved it while saying the spell. The rest of the mixture was added, and the potion turned black.

Good, she was doing everything correctly.

Alright time for more steps but wait the puff heard they needed to do a spell. He heard the Professor say it and wish he could have wrote it on the board. Anyways he began to practice saying,

"Doh-mee-nen-tur......Doh-mee-nen-tur.....Doh-mee-nen-tur.....Doh-mee-nen-tur....Doh-mee-nen-tur....Doh-mee-nen-tur....Doh-mee-nen-tur" Now time to put it all together.

"Dominentur......Dominentur.....Dominentur.....Dom inentur....Dominentur....Dominentur" There now that sounded right. He was pleased he got it now. Now he needed to wave his wand around to practice the wand movement. He did a few waves and once he felt confident he waved his wand over the cauldron, "Dominetur!" and then he added the mixture in. He noticed the potion didn't turn black but it turn like a burgundy sort of color. Hmm....he must have done it wrong.

He raised his hand, "Ermm Professor, my potion is a deep red color not black.." he said pointing to his cauldron.

No answer from the Professor? HA!

The grin on his face widened. Was the Professor sure to let him drink this potion? Because he was going to regret it, he was sure of that. Of course, he himself wanted to try it so he focused back to his potion to make sure that it went perfect.

He did not even jump or get startled by the sudden claps of the Professor's hands and looked at the incantation on the blackboard. Dominentur. It probably meant something along the line of Dominant or Dominance. Something he did not need but it wouldn't hurt to have more right? The more power the better , right? heh.

He grabbed his wand after practising the incantation in his mind and waved his wand at the potion "Dominentur" Putting his wand back in his wrist holster, the Gryffindor then added the rest of the remaining mixture and then immediately checked the liquid of the potion and watched it turn pitch black.

Benny wasn't sure he was pleased that there was magic involved in this potion. He was good with the physical stuff but when a spell was in the mix and could go wrong, he was worried about the consequesces. But he supposed thats what practicing was for. "Dominentur... Doh-mee-nen-tur...Dominentur... Doh-mee-nen-tur.." the Gryffindor mulling over the incantation aloud, trying to get a feel for it. It was four syllables that were a little tricky to get a tongue around, at least to him. Culloden didn't seem to have any trouble.

"'Doh-mee-nen-tur," he said once more without a wand, over emphasising the syllables to get it right. Then there was nothing to do but follow through and do it for real. "Dominentur!" he cast clearly, wavng his wand over his cauldron. But it wasn't black.

Uh oh.

Why wasn't it changing to black?

Benny shook his head when he realized his issue. Relax Atreyu...he reminded himself as he reached for the bowl he had been mixing in before, carefully adding the rest of the mixture. It was then that the liquid in the cauldron started darkening until it gradually became like ink.

"Dominentur. Doh-mee-nen-tur." Bleu practiced with the rest of the class. She wanted to make sure she said this spell right. She had to make sure her potion turned out perfect. "Dominentur. Doh-mee-nen-tur." She repeated to herself again, glancing at Dylan out of the corner of her eye.

She took a deep breath, grabbed her wand and waved it over the cauldron while saying, "Dominentur." She then quickly added the rest of the mixture to her cauldron. It immediately turned black. She grinned hugely, satisfied with herself.

So Margo wasn't sure about her teaspoons...was three or four that she had put in.......four she thought, that's what she was going to go with. So listening to the professor Margo practiced the spell. "Doh-mee-nen-tur" Margo pronounced the spell right. She hoped anyway, there now she was ready to move on.

Margo pulled out her wand read to use the spell for real. [B]"Dominentur"[B] Margo said waving her wand over her cauldron. She then added the rest of her mixture and looked down at it........it was.....definitely not black. "So mine just looks clear, white-ish" Margo said looking down...........she was hate potions.

Ooo magic. Well it was a magical potion after all. You would expect something like that to show up in the listen of instructions. Dante gave himself a mental shrug. He just had a spell to practice now.

"Doh-mee-nen-tur......Doh-mee-nen-tur......Doh-mee-nen-tur.....Doh-mee-nen-tur"

Dante think he got the way to say it down. Now he just need to see if it would work with his potion

Dante waved his wand while saying "Dominentur". Then emptied the rest of his awesome mixture and look at that. He was being awesome today. The color was like Professor C said. It was black.

Onto the next part then.

He had to finish this potion, you know why? Because it could come in handy for any future things. Which made him wonder, would they have to take it as soon as they were done, or could they take it at another time? Just for curious reasons, you know?

So far Finn had managed to stay up to speed with Culloden's steps for the potion. Now, for pronouncing this spell. It was an odd word, wasn't it? That was beside the point. Get back to focus. "Doh-men-tur... Doh-men-tur... Doh-men-tur." Yes, yes, that sounded good enough. He waved his wand over the cauldron and said, "Domentur" There. Now he added the remainder of his mixture into the cauldron and watched the color.

Hmmmm. It turned a light gray. Didn't Professor say it should've turned black? Finn frowned at his cauldron, not sure what to do next.

Oops, Caleb was falling behind a bit...time to play catch up! What was the next step again? He checked the board quickly...alright. Take the metal stirrer and stir clockwise seven times. Not too hard.

He plopped the stirrer in the potion and began to stir it. One, two three...clockwise until he had seven stirs. Now he had to wait, depending on what kind of cauldron he had. Caleb had invested ok, his parents had invested in a brass cauldron, so he only had to wait 5 minutes. That wasn't too bad. As he waited, he mixed the sheeps wool, fox fur and salamander blood together in a separate bowl as instructed. Ugh. Gross. That was not a pleasant looking mixture at all...

Hmm? Oh, right. Moving on.

Toby, who had become quite distracted with simply staring at the contents of his cauldron, sat up properly again and checked the notes on the board before relaying them into his own notes. He wasn't sure how long he'd spaced out for, but apparently long enough to have missed a couple of steps. Not to worry though; catching up wouldn't be too hard.

He took his metal stirrer and, though he'd cleaned it not twenty minutes ago, cast 'scourgify' on it again to give it a good clean. He then dunked the stirrer into his cauldron and stirred the contents one, two, three, four, five, six, seven times clockwise.

Toby had a pewter cauldron, the standard for potions classes here, which meant that for this next step he had more time to prep for the next step.

There was a lot of animal fur involved in making this potion. That was what Toby was thinking as he added the two handfuls of fox tail fur to a (clean and scourgified) bowl, and measure out 300 grams of sheep's wool and added that too. Toby was trying to keep mindful of the time and work quickly but not TOO quickly so as to mess up the step, so really it was sort of helpful that his mood and motivation levels were still... somewhere on the floor or something. He scourgified a teaspoon, and measured out one, two teaspoons of the salamander blood and added it to the bowl with the fur and wool. After a glance at his watch to check he was still doing okay for time, Toby stirred up the contents of the bowl as thoroughly and quickly as he could, keeping an eye on his brewing potion at the same time and also glancing across at Kyroh to make sure the younger-but-somehow-a-little-bit-taller Ravenclaw was doing okay.

Okay, time up. Hopefully the mixture was mixed as well as it needed to be, but whether it was or wasn't there was no time to really do anything about it because he needed to add it like... now. Toby now used the teaspoon to scoop some of the mixture (with some difficulty, because of the strange consistency of the stuff) and added that to the potion. He repeated this three more times, before setting that bowl aside and crossing the steps off his notes.

So, next up was the spell.

"Dominentur," Toby murmured to himself, staring at the spell written in his notes. Boy, that was a tricky one to say without getting tongue-tied, wasn't it? "Dom-in-en-tur. Dominentur."

When he was sure he could say it without getting all twisted in his mouth, Toby picked up his wand and waved it along with the incantation this time. "Dominentur."

He... was going to assumed that that had worked, though there was no visible sign to indicate that. With a one-shouldered shrug, Toby picked up the bowl of the mixture and carefully dumped the rest in, being careful not to splash the potion everywhere. And then he waited and watched, to see if the potion would indeed turn black.

Yep. Looking good.
