Default MANDATORY DADA Lesson #1

The Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom is unlocked, with the door propped open for the first time all term. Although the room was cleaned in late August in preparation for the 2085-86 school year, it has sat unused all term due to Professor Romanos' absence.

You may enter and get settled, but beware that no professors are in the room to supervise you or your peers. Feel free to open the windows if you like; the temperatures aren't too horrible outside and there is some rare sunshine poking through the clouds this morning.

Class Progression
1: What did you do wrong?
2: What spells can you do right?
3: Cast a spell you can do on Flamsteed!
4: Last call to cast on Flamsteed!
5: Assigning homework. Class dismissed!

Wow. This was intense.

So intense in fact that Maggie had even put up her hair. Because apparently things were going to happen in this class. They would be doing things. Things where she should NOT be distracted by her beautiful hair. Well, she had left a few strands out so they could frame her face you know. She was actually twirling one around her finger right this second.

Listening too though. AND taking notes. Yes.

Oh. Spells. Right. She could do that hot air charm spell thing. To dry her nails. That was CRAZY useful you know. But probably didn't count as such right now. Uhm. Uhm. Uhm. Could she do anything???? It seemed like she REALLY needed to find someone to PROTECT her. Someone STRONG. Yes.

She looked around but before she could find someone who fit that description she heard people mentioning the protection spell. OOH YES! That one. She could do that one. Sort of. Pretty sure she could. So she quickly raised her hand and said, "Protego!" YES! Go her!

Keeping ones self composed at all times was key. Getting scared, upset or losing focus could all be disastrous in a matter of life or death. There would be no tears at the mention of a fallen house mate but she would think of it. However she slid silently into her seat when they had been told, her wand placed at the top of her desk. Next came her parchment and quill right in front of her, the quill taking place in her hand the moment those around her began giving their answers.

Hady quill quickly met the parchment as she formed a list of all the defensive spells that were being said. Each spell she wasn't able to preformed received a small star next to it so she could reminded herself to learn it.

Everyone's answers were kind of the same but if she didn't answer then she'd probably get called out on it so slowly she lifted her hand into the air. "Right now I'm able to cast stupefy, expelliarmus, protego, immobulus, bombarda and impedimenta..." Lowering her hand she frowned slightly at herself knowing there was most likely more but she couldn't recall them right now. She needed to make sure she learned more spells...harder ones.

"Always check for invisible forces in a room which seems too good, too empty, to be true. Even at Hogwarts. I shouldn't have to remind you of WHY. Unless you've laid the wards in the room yourself, then you cannot EVER be certain it is safe. Even at Hogwarts."

Perhaps she should be saying ESPECIALLY at Hogwarts. Speaking of things only at Hogwarts... she noted Flamsteed observing silently in the back. Good. She had use for him later.

"Now, please promise me that you all are going to enter an empty classroom differently in the future." That was settled, for now. "Speaking of, some of you mentioned spells you could have used to secure your surroundings. Name these spells. In fact, name off all the defensive spells at which YOU, personally, are proficient." Name ONLY the spells they could perform if she called on them.

Ooookay... yeah, it was pretty loony that the HEADMISTRESS HERSELF was telling them that Hogwarts wasn't safe and that, basically, they weren't safe. Sure, they all had always kind of known that in the back of their minds - there was no such thing as a quiet year at Hogwarts without some sort of chaos - but this high-tension discussion was... Merlin, kind of devastating, wasn't it? Did this mean she couldn't go for runs on the grounds in the future without being ready to get attacked? That was kind of... unnerving. A lot unnerving. Why did any of them attend this school again?

It was nice that the headmistress approved of her answer, though, and Sophie relaxed a little - then she visibly relaxed further when she caught sight of Flamsteed entering the room. Sure, the man looked anxious as could be, but he was THERE. That meant only good things. Like that Truebridge wouldn't rip off any of their heads and become the danger she was warning them of. That was good, wasn't it?

Enter a classroom differently in the future? But... but... hmm. Her hand went up and she waited to be called upon, "Headmistress, I think... I think a good spell, the kind that would be really helpful, especially in the kinda situations you want us to be vigilant of, Homenum Revelio WOULD be a desired spell to use," as a Gryffindor noted, "but I can at least attest up to the fifth years that we've not learned that spell. Could we...?" Cover that one? Would the woman teach them? "...Will you teach us? Please?" Was Sophie allowed to make that request? Worth a shot, wasn't it?

And while it was her turn to talk... "I also agree with Tob...ias," eh hem, "that what we might consider offensive spells can also be defensive, too, in loads of ways." That being said... "I can do..." she counted on her fingers, "Expelliarmus, variations of Protego, the silver shield spell, Impedimenta, Incarcerous and Ligatenous, Stupefy... Petrificus Totalus... Immobulus?" She was sure there were others, but her mind was blanking on the others. She should've tried to write out a list first. Meh.

"Correct," the Headmistress gave a solid, approving nod to the young Hufflepuff who sounded terrified of her own answer. "Do you know that spell?" she asked as a follow-up. "Or one which could have sufficed?" A finite could do remarkable things, honestly.

An answer from one of the wary ones. "That would have been a start," the Headmistress acknowledged the Ravenclaw's answer coolly.

This was Tillstorm's niece or cousin or something, wasn't it? "That would have been a good start, particularly since you are one of our older students." She gave the girl a nod.

What, no answer from a smart Slytherin? "Your silence tells me that you have much to learn, Mr. Barrington."

"You should always have your wand in hand. I recommend a wrist holster," she answered the girl quickly, pointing her own wand at her own wrist to disillusion the ever-present wand holster. As for vigilance.... ooh. She inhaled sharply. "Being vigilant means being on your guard against any kind of threat or danger. Constant vigilance means exerting caution all the time, always. Expect the unexpected in the wizarding world. Magic has many possibilities."

Perhaps that had been a good question for everyone to hear the answer to.

"Good, Toby. By now, you should always be thinking as a wizard, and should be aware of the spells in your arsenal. Know your strengths."

Ah, it was the little Ravenclaw that had helped with mapping the school. Good to see her in class. "You assumed wrong," the Headmistress replied quite coldly. "Are you aware, Miss Addison, that a student recently DIED while attending this school? Hogwarts faces threats every year, most of which pass without the knowledge of the students in attendance. Always expect the unexpected."

"You did think well, Sophie." She had been one of the ones Annie had noticed, for taking some action. However.... "And I appreciate your thoughtful reflection. Always always be present in the moment. Being vigilant is not the same as being suspicious, necessarily."

Prefect Wayne. "Correct. This familiar room all could have been an illusion." The Headmistress waved her free hand to gesture toward their surroundings. She could have created a more deceptive lesson for them, but her surprise appearance was enough for now.

"Correct, I see you have learned something already." Though the girl hadn't said what she did wrong in her entry to the room...

Good, even Kevin was learning. "Excellent answer, Mr. Hirase. Thank you for your honesty..."

"Lumos would not have revealed an invisible person such as myself," the Headmistress pursed her lips at the Gryffindor. "Isn't there a better spell you could have used, Angel?" Anyone? She looked around at the class.

"It is a sad thing to say that we cannot trust our own classrooms," she murmured in reply to Lux. "So what else could you have done better?"

Ahaha, a smart answer. And not smart in the Ravenclaw sort of way. "Yes you did. Typical Gryffindor mistake." The Headmistress said this without a trace of humor.

That was... not what Anastasia had been expecting as a reasonable answer. "Okay, that is technically correct but... what about being vigilant about what's going on in here? In the classroom?"

"Apology accepted," the Headmistress replied to Adi crisply. She did like his precise answer, heh. How was his nose feeling? "You should have. As a prefect, you should have made absolutely certain that this room was clear before you allowed them to enter and sit and socialize."

"Don't assume. It's dangerous to assume," the Headmistress warned the Slytherin. Hadn't Gregoire, Noah's housemate, assumed that he could fight off a fully-grown acromantula? Well they all saw how that had worked out.

"Good. You should have."

No answer from this one either? The Headmistress prowled past the Gryffindor's desk and gave it a small, but harmless this time, tap. "Ignorance is bliss, but in the wizarding world, ignorance and silence could cost you your life."

"Thank you for elaborating on your classmate's answer," the Headmistress drawled dryly. "At least you admit that you do know better."

Ah, Eden was here. Hah. "It is, but this classroom is not a corridor. A harmless homenum revelio would hardly land you a detention here at Hogwarts, or an arrest in REAL LIFE, Eden. You have my word on that."

Goodness, Gryffindors. So idiotic. The Headmistress waved away Heather's spells with a few casual flicks of her own wand. No one was affected.

"That's certainly one way to react," she remarked to the girl, passing by her desk now. "You DO know better, though." Obviously, those spells showed that she did.

"That's not an answer of what you did wrong." An answer of what she did right, maybe. So Slytherin of Banner.

"Good, that's a start..."

So, nearly everyone could admit that they should have checked the room before parking their bums or chit-chatting with their friends.

"Speaking of, some of you mentioned spells you could have used to secure your surroundings. Name these spells. In fact, name off all the defensive spells at which YOU, personally, are proficient." Name ONLY the spells they could perform if she called on them.

Taking her quill in her left hand, Ophelia wrote CONSTANT VIGILANCE on the piece of parchment in big letters. Because that was the gist of what she was saying, basically. Everything else was written in small print below it, but the constant vigilance was basically what was needed. Something had to have happened, because the blonde hand't seen the headmistress this angry and serious since the fight at the beginning of the year. Then again, it wasn't like the twelve year old saw much of the headmistress, but still. Something was definitely going on. Either that or the headmistress LOVED protection like Ophelia loved being outside.

Did Austin notice her straightened hair? It seemed like he did, which was awesome! He was noticing things! And now that he didn't seem so sad about his mother and the demon spawn that he called his baby sister, they could actually hang out and explore the grounds! It would be like the beginning of last year when they met in the common room. Was her heart fluttering? Eww. She wasn't THAT infatuated with the boy. Calm down body, it was a puppy crush, not some intense melodrama.

Speaking of the King, he didn't know much in the way of defensive spells, did he? Crap. The Ravenclaw was kind of counting on his protection, which meant that in order for that to happen, he had to know something. She was only twelve, with innocent --yeah right-- round, grey eyes. He was supposed to be the man here. She knew nothing in the way of defensive spells either! Well, maybe Expelliarmus. But pretty much everyone knew that spell. Could she still raise her hand and say it?

"It's not much. But I know Expelliarmus pretty well. Maybe." Yeah, suuuuuuuchh confidence in her defensive work. But there really wasn't anything to be defensive about? Why was the headmistress talking about threats at Hogwarts? Yes, there was a bunch of dangerous and scary stuff here. But did any of it threaten anyone before? Not that Ophelia knew of. The fact that the red headed woman kept bringing it up at all was making her nervous. What was going on around here?

Oh, Truebridge liked to call her by her first name. She raised her hand. "May I call you by your first name, too, Anastasia?" she asked before....thinking out. Well damn. It probably wasn't okay. But Eden was a little annoyed--more than fearful, at this point--TRUEBRIDGE WAS COMING IN HERE LIKE SHE OWNED THE PLACE?

She did own the place >.<

BUT STILL. Eden didn't APPRECIATE the tone! Truebridge was suggest they were all...MENTALLY DEFICIENT.

....and while trying to sloooowly slide down into her chair more, her cheeks RED, even more so, she tried to think of a spell she was even good at in the defense category. Maybe she was deficient. Merlin.

She raised her hand again. She wasn't really an old hat at DADA...."Um. Protego....the Silver Shield Spell...um..." What ELSE? "Tongue-tying curse..."

And she was done.

Yeeeeeeeeah so who pooted in Bunz's coffee this morning? Meow. Basically, this class was...

"you're the WORST"

...followed up with a side of "You all are going to die".

Haha Kind of cool. Like, if this was the Pre-Battle Speech, Zahra was READY. It'd bee COOLER if this battle could wait until her and Mikey had saved enough dough for a SWORD, but yeah.

Hm. "I killed a troll in Potions with a little swish and flick of a desk once. I mean, defense/offense are kind of the same when you're REALLY being attacked. "

Promise. She was going to treat Hogwarts like what it was, which was uncertain ground. Beverly had been blinded by confusing it to a second home that she'd forgotten it was an actual dangerous place where people died. This served her as a lesson, though.

Her gaze happened to lock with Aditya, whom she shot a firm nod at. She didn't feel like playing their little game at the moment, but she did agree with the Headmistress. They were in charge when adults weren't present.

Name ALL of the spells she was proficient at. Well crud.

Beverly jotted them down on a piece of parchment before raising her hand. "The spells I'm proficient in are: the Body-Bind Curse, Tickling Charm, Shield Charm, Expelliarmus, Stunning spell, Tarantallegra, the Impediment Charm, Homenum Revelio, Relashio, Incarcerous..." She stopped there, but simply because most of these spells had been taught by professor Romanos that not only she should be proficient at casting them, but her classmates as well. "The spells I mentioned are some of the few I'd used as defense. Some of them are offensive, but if used correctly they can be used to protect oneself...or others."

Slowing an opponent by binding them or tickling them with a curse could be enough to buy enough time and thus save your bum. It all came down to how a spell was used because what good would a defensive spell be if used incorrectly.

Anastasia started a list on the board as the students began their list of proficient spells. Proficient DEFENSIVE spells. This was an excellent list.... so far. It was restoring her faith in Hogwarts, little by little. Her hand grew tired of writing in chalk at the front of the room so she set her wand to charm the chalk.

Headmistress Truebridge didn't seem to know what it meant, though, unless she thought fun meant scary. The third year recorded all the no-fun vigilance stuff on her parchment before thinking about the next question.

What could she do? Ummm. Ummmmmmm. She didn't know any of the reveal-y spells that people had been talking about, but she knew some stuff okay, it was just a matter of remembering what they were. Ooh! Norah put a hand in the air and waited to be called on, not even shaking or ANYTHING which she was pretty proud of, okay? "I can do expelliarmus! And protego AND the silver shield one." So THERE. She could blow stuff up too but that wouldn't be helpful in this situation, right? Shame, really, 'cause that one was pretty fun.

Now he would enter an empty classroom cautiously and be more aware of his surroundings. Defense Against the Dark Arts rule number one and also common sense wise if you don't wanna be killed.

Now the headmistress wanted them to name spells that could secure their surroundings and he wondered if he should list them all? Now she wanted spells he was proficient in? He nodded and listed some off in his notebook.

SPOILER!!: Kace's Notebook

Kace Lecium
DADA Lesson One

Used for Surroundings:
-Caterwauling Charm (Intruder Charm)
-Colloportus (Locking Spell)
-Disillusionment Charm
-Evanesco
-Immobulus
-Impedimenta
-Protego

Defensive Spells:
-Protego
-Reducto
-Impedimenta
-Levicorpus
-Immobulus
-Diffindo
-Stupefy
-Expelliarmus
-Expecto Patronum
-Locomotor Mortis

He raised his hand and told the teacher, "Professor I can do expelliarmus, diffindo, stupefy, impedimenta, protego, bombarda and locomotor mortis since I learned that spell in the dueling arena." Others ones he knew buttt he didn't know the wand incantation by heart. He would stick with the others for now.

The hand went up. "Should we check for invisible forces under our beds? Under the table in the Great Hall? Everywhere everywhere?" Because what if she got out of her bed and went to the bathroom and came back. Would she have to check under the bed AGAIN? "Also, I know Stupefy and Petrificus Totalus. Those are defensive spells."
Anastasia slowwwwly turned her head to look at the girl, the Slytherin with all the questions. "Check. Everywhere," she intoned seriously, giving her a stone cold look before turning away and adding onto her list on the board.

Anyway, what spells was she proficient at? Wasn't that kind of a long list, considering she was a fifth year? Also, since the paranoia was real now, wouldn't that count as not being vigilant? Giving an opponent an advantage? But then, Heather was also kind of scared of not answering the question. Besides, it was also possible that she was asking so she could help them?

Oi. All this questioning only proved that paranoia wasn't worth it. At all. She didn't know how people in law enforcement did it. Because she'd only been in this class a few mintues and her brain, stomach and knee were already hurting. Too much thinking. And she still had to answer the question. "Protego, Confundo, Revelio, Diffindo, Expelliarmus....." And that was pretty much it. Yeah, she had been neglecting her DADA.

One, his spell to check invisible forces was not very good. He had to practice. And two how do you make wards. Why would he enter a empty class room alone. He did not have a death wish. The only reason he entered this one was because their was to be/is a class in here. And wasn't it the Professor, Groundskeeper, and Headmistress' job to keep them safe at least till they graduated. At least Dante though it as. Defensive Spells. He was not good at any yet. His disarming charm was getting there. But he was not good at it, yet.

She shot a little look at the headmistress at that because yeah, "The self armouring spell Loricatus.... ummm... Should she also mention that she pretty much didn't learn any of them here? Because that was true.

And what. Just because she couldn't read stuff from the textbook or the board, didn't mean she couldn't actually do the spells, it was just that she needed to be shown them, rather than just told to do what was on the board or whatever.

As a prefect it was his duty? The fifth year blinked before his eyes darted to the first other prefect he saw... which happened to be Beverly. Did that mean this should have been one of their other duties? He saw no reason to check a room during his previous years at Hogwarts so it hadn't occur to him to do so now.

Anywaaaay. Defensive spells. Hand up again, Adi spoke. "Expelliaramus, most versions of Protego, Silver Shield Charm, Impedimenta, Bombarda...'' And others too since he practiced them in the Arena a lot.

But then, he wondered if perhaps there were OTHERS that he'd forgotten also. Like, he probably knew way more than he was letting on. So much more. Sooooooo much more. He was a wealth of defensive knowledge and that had nothing to do with the fact that he thought the best means of defence was offence. Mmhhmm. Nothing to do with that at all.

So many options. Maybe he ought to create a list of what he knew, in case he one day forgot he knew it. That made sense.

Protection spells? He was still only a first year, so not many dueling and protection spells. Now if it came to protecting himself the muggle way then he had a whole list of ways to protect himself. But for now...*
"Protego, Miss. That's a spell that will help keep you protected."

She needed the knowledge and experience in order to become a potioneer.

As she was asked what else she could do better, the redhead raised her hand before replying merely out of habit. "I should have used detection spells." Yep, she was a fail on that count too. Maybe it was the trusting Hufflepuff in her (or the trusting Gryffindor as she preferred to think of it).

As another question was asked her hand shot up in the air again. "I can do Expelliarmus, Protego, the Silver Shield Spell, Immobulus, and Impedimenta." That was about it because a lot of the other spells she knew were on the more offensive side like Bombardia.

Once she finished speaking, Austin wrote down on his parchment. He added everything. From the warnings of the Headmistress to the fact that he needed to remember to enter a classroom differently. When he was done he raised his hand and waited to be called on before answering. The last thing Austin wanted was to get on her bad side. "I especially like 'Tarantallegra' or the 'Dancing feet spell'. It's not necessarily a defense spell, but it does help when someone is coming at you. It's hard for them to get a spell at you if they're dancing around." To be honest, Austin hadn't had much use for a defense spell. He had learned about them in class, and had performed most of them particularly well. But he never practiced them outside of class. The only reason he knew about this spell was because his father used it on him a few times. Witch meant Austin had to get payback with the same spell. He mastered the spell a year or so ago, and he felt that in combat, it would prove very useful. Thanks dad. You finally did something right.

"Petrificus Totalus, Immobulus, Impedimenta, Expelliarmus, and Protego." Maybe she would come practice in the dueling arena later.

SPOILER!!: notes
-be wary of empty rooms inside Hogwarts
-constant vigilance
-Question 1: What did we do wrong?
-always check for invisible forces in a room which seems too good, too empty, to be true
-Question 2: What defensive spells are you proficient at?

Just as he dared not bring up the fact that he very rarely thought as a wizard. But yeah, no. Not gonna point that out; didn't seem like a great idea at this point in time.

Toby nodded at the request that they make the promise to enter rooms differently, feeling compelled to respond in the most positive way because this was a scary woman and he wanted to make it clear that he understood and promised and meant it. The next question had him thinking. ALL the defensive spells he could do? Could he even remember them? It was a while before he raised his hand.

"Protego, Impedimenta, uhh... Expelliarmus." He thought about mentioning the Silver Shield one but he'd never quite got to a point where he could cast it and know it would work every time. "Incarcerous... Oh, Confringo, too." Confringo had been used quite liberally in Toby's practical DADA OWL, so he was pretty confident that that was a good one. But... what had that other spell been, at the end of that practical. "Carpe Retractum? That can be used defensively, 'cause Professor Romanos covered it. And Glacius. But also," Toby quickly added before she could move to the next kid, as he fidgeted a bit in his seat out of habit, and had to fight the urge to pick up his wand and twirl it between his fingers. Instead, he twirled his quill. "There's tons of everyday spells that can be used defensively if you know how. Dozens. Hundreds, for some people. You can, like... use your creativity, I guess. Use spells you know for sure if you need to, even if they're not conventionally defensive?"

WHICH... was going further than the question she'd asked, but he just wanted to make the point that even if you weren't so great at those 'official' defensive spells, there were still others that could help if you used them creatively. Maybe?

While the woman was talking, he wondered what his parents would think about the whole situation. Even at Hogwarts. So the school wasn’t a safe place anymore. Wait, it had never been a safe place. Actually, he was only in his fourth year and he had seen stuff that would close the doors of Hogwarts immediately once an inspection came along.

He hoped not, despite the fact that he might not look like he cared, he did. He liked Hogwarts even with the stupid classes and stupid Professors and stupid students. It had a charm and the castle was simply beautiful. So yes, he would be more aware of his surroundings especially in empty rooms.

Which defensive spells they knew…………. Ehm…. He knew more offensive spells than defences…. When it was his turn to speak, Kevin cleared his throat. “Expelliarmus, Impedimenta, Stupefy , Tarantallegra and the revulsion jinx…. I know more offensive spells though” he frowned. And had anyone noticed how he had NOT said the protego spells? Yeah, cause he sucked at them. Maybe it was because he didn’t like defensive spellwork…attacking all the way was his style.

If Janelle thought she couldn't feel any worse, she was wrong. What defensive spells did she know? Very few. And as she listened to her classmates rattle off their spells, she felt very bad. Reluctantly, Janelle raised her hand to answer the question.

"I know Protego." Don't ask her how she knew it, she just did. "Diminuendo and Silencio.......because if someone doesn't know how to do nonverbal spells.......well then they can't cast on you." That was a woefully short list and they probably weren't all technically considered defensive spells, but that's what she knew so far.

Meh.
"Yes.......she answered Sophie slowly. She was so eager to learn, it was difficult not to give her more attention. Huh, the Headmistress had thought that Bellaire had taught them all a variation of homenum revelio. But yes. "Yes, we will be learning that one. Please... keep participating." Because what else was she to say? It WAS next.

Ah, and another good response... coming from Miss Wayne. She was more competent than she let on, really. Anastasia flicked her wand at the board to add two more spells.

Now, if only ALL her students could do ALL these spells...

Spells We Should All Know & Use
  • Bombarda
  • Carpe Retractum
  • Caterwauling Charm
  • Colloportus
  • Confundo
  • Depulso
  • Diffindo
  • Diminuendo
  • Disillusionment Charm
  • Duro
  • Evanesco
  • Expecto Patronum
  • Expelliarmus
  • Glacius
  • Immobulus

  • Impiriano
  • Incarcerous
  • Incendio
  • Levicorpus
  • Ligatenous
  • Locomotor Mortis
  • Loricatus
  • Protego
  • Protego Maxima
  • Reducto
  • Relashio
  • Revelio
  • Revertoscutum
  • Rictusempra
  • Stupefy
  • Tarantallegra

But that's what they were here to learn. "Listen." The Headmistress held up a hand to stop the chalk from adding anything else to the list, and to signal that they were done bragging sharing what they knew. "We're going to learn these, all of us, as best as we can today. First I will need a volunteer. Actually, I will need..." she turned her head to total the list, "thirty-two volunteers. And you, Professor Flamsteed."

The Headmistress locked her laser blue eyes on him with a smirk. You know, she hadn't entirely read that list through to see which spells were the most dangerous. But she did have a good idea for her assistant now, and so she was going to roll with this idea. "One at a time, I would like those of you who said you were PROFICIENT at a spell to come up here and teach it to your peers. Professor Flamsteed is who you will demonstrate it on, if that is safe." The disarming and tap-dancing spells, for example, he should be able to show in action. "Otherwise, he will deflect or shield himself against the spell. So BE PREPARED should the unexpected happen."

That was how magic worked. "Now STICK TO THE LIST. Announce the wand movement, incantation, and expected outcome before you model the spell. This should be easy for your classmates to understand. If there are no further questions, let's begin."

OOC: So, there are nearly enough spells on here for each of you to pick one and demonstrate it to the class. PLEASE READ the posts of the people ahead of you, so that we are not repeating spells. You should feel free to demonstrate the spell your charrie volunteered, unless it's already been taken. In one post, introduce the spell, explain its incantation and wand movement, cast it, and then allow Flamsteed (sweetpinkpixie) a chance to reply! Don't RP the outcome of the spell but you can reply after Pixie does! Have fun! I won't be online for a while.

After copying down his notes, Austin raised his hand and waited to be called on. He remembered when he had used this spell on his dad one night. His mother had to stay late at the hospital, so his father was doing the dishes. Let's just say there were bubbles and broken plates everywhere. Again. Lucille Moore was not happy when she came home. There was more of a mess than when she had left, and his mother did not love having to come home from work, to do extra work.

Also, Ophelia Clarke only knew Expelliarmus? Well, she was a second year, so her knowledge of spells really wasn't that grand. But surely she knew more? No? Well, neither did Austin, which was a problem. Even though there wasn't much danger at Hogwarts (although the Headmistress would say otherwise) Austin still wanted to protect Ophie. Whether she wanted it or not. I guess I know what I'm doing over the summer. Homework

Once Austin was called on, he walked to the front, wand in his right hand. He was proud to show this spell since he knew it well. He would be embarrassed if he demonstrated to the whole class this spell, an choked. He knew the key to any spell was confidence, and that was what he had with this spell. "Hello everyone, I'm Austin Moore, a third year Ravenclaw." The headmistress didn't say they had to introduce themselves, but Austin felt it necessary. "The spell I'm going to present is 'Tarantallegra' or the 'Dancing Feet Spell'. The wand movement looks like a set of backwards eighth notes with bends underneath." He demonstrated in the air. "The incantation is ta-RON-ta-LEG-gra. With emphasis on the 'RON' and 'LEG'. The expected outcome is that your target will begin to dance in a crazy manner."

He turned to face the professor, and took a deep breath. Austin directed his wand at his 'target' and with the wand movement said "Tarantallegra!". He made sure to say it strongly, so his wand knew the spell.

Oh. That was a whole lot of spells. Norah squinted at the board as she scribbled them all down. Well, she knew SOME of them, more than she thought she had, anyways. Since when was diminuendo a defensive spell? She'd learned that one in charms class, with those dumb spiders that she really didn't want to think about anymore because of...reasons. Right. Spell, yeah, she was gonna do one. The third year kept eyeing the list before deciding that the shrinking one was probably her best bet, and put her slightly shaky hand in the air to volunteer--for some WEIRD reason, 'cause the Headmistress wasn't any less scary than she had been before. And what if she waved her wand and nothing even happened? She'd have to move to Antarctica or something and be an outcast with the penguins.

Norah took slow steps towards the front of the room, and turned to face the rest of the students with wide eyes. Where was all this nervous stuff even COMING from? This wasn't supposed to happen, she was a real live teenager and everything. It was probably scary Trudebridge's fault. Maybe she should teach the woman how to smile while she was up here. Ahem. Shrinking stuff. The thirteen year old gripped her wand tightly as she began to say, "I'm going to do the shrinking one." She glanced quickly at the headmistress before continuing, "The incantation is Diminuendo and the wand movement is just a point." RIIIIGHT? "Ooh! And its supposed to make things smaller." Had she said that already?

"I guess I'll do the thing now, then." She looked sideways at Professor Flamsteed and gave him a small grin, trying to imagine him all tiny. IF she could do it, that is. And if he didn't deflect it. Norah held her wand out and pointed it straight at the Professor's chest, imagining all the tiny things in the world as she took a deep breath and cast, "Diminuendo!" DID SHE DO IT? DID SHEEE?

Exclamation The Impediment Jinx!
~ Mrs. Steve Harrington ~ It be like that sometimes.

Cast the Charms or jinxes or whatever at Professor Flamsteed? The poor Professor. Imagine all those spells being thrown at you... but on the bright side, not all of them were that dangerous. Adi jotted down the list of stuff written on the board. "Hmm... I think I'll go with Impedimenta,'' he thought as he surveyed the list. Yep, it had been one he listed anyway.

With another twitch of his nose, the still fully awake Adi bounded to the front of the class. "Hello, everyone.'' Did he have their attention? DID HE? Yes? Okay. "I'll be demonstrating the Impediment Jinx. It is also called the Impediment Hex and what it does is slow down the person at whom it is targeted at though it can also cause your opponent to be levitated, immobilised or thrown backward." What a handy little jinx it was. It had proven to be just that whenever he used it in the Dueling Arena.

"Though it is a super useful jinx, there is a huge downside to it... or I think there is a huge downside, anyway. Its effect is temporary, it does not last as long as we would like. But despite that, it can be really useful in helping you against your opponents unless you're up against Lethifolds.'' Bummer. Adi vaguely wondered why that was so.

Anywaaaay. "The incantation is Impedimenta and the wand movement is simply moving your wand horizontally.'' He demonstrated without the use of the incantation. Alrightey. Now for Professor suits. The man was capable of defending himself, the Puffer knew, so he wasn't worried about him getting injured.

Concentrating as best as he could, Adi raised his wand again. "Impedimenta!'' Cue he horizontal wand movement! Turquoise light immediately shot from his wand towards the Gryffindor Head of House.

be curious, not judgmental

.......Oh, sweet Merlin.

They had to do it ON FLAMSTEED? No. Noooooooo. The man already looked awful and... well, now they all knew why. He was being used as TARGET PRACTICE. Merlin. Meeeeeeerlin. What had she said again? Sophie cycled through the spells she had named off and started eliminating some - no Incarcerous nor Ligatenous, no thank you, and no Immobulus... she didn't actually want to DO anything to the poor guy... but... Merlin. Someone was going to have to do those, weren't they?

This was going to be hard to watch. She didn't want to see him be made a fool of.

So... that meant she needed to pick a GOOD one, then, and do it before someone else did, yeah? So, reviewing the list... wait, the headmistress hadn't put her silver shield spell on the board. Did that mean she couldn't teach it? Sigh. That was the BEST one, the one that felt nicest to demonstrate, but... okay, she re-read the list, and there were ones there that she didn't think ANYONE had said. They were, in her mind, perhaps more offensive spells than defensive, but they weren't HARMFUL, so... Sophie was going to casually pick one she hadn't said but she WAS proficient in it and, even though it was moderately easy, Truebridge hadn't SAID for older students to do the harder ones, so... ah hem... Sophie picked a nice one from the list.

As she took her wand and got up to take her turn at the front of the classroom to instruct, Sophie tried to stifle her giggles the whole way there, and beamed when she turned to face the class. "I'll teach you guys Rictusempra. Professor Romanos taught us this one I think... two terms ago? It's the tickling charm, much less intense and less exhausting than the tickling hex of Titillando. Its effects are usually the sensation of being tickled and mild weakness throughout the body, which is good in a defensive situation 'cause even though it's tickling and we don't usually think of that as being super useful a defensive spell, maybe, if you think about it, tickling affects the body and mind - usually it makes the person, like, completely shut down and be unable to focus on anything else besides the sensations and laughter. Plus, it's also just really annoying, so..." They could see the usefulness, hm?

Turning to face Flamsteed now, she gave the professor a big cheesy, reassuring sort of smile, then continued to address the class, "So, like I said, the incantation is Rictusempra," she said it once, then slower, "Ric-tu-sem-pra, and the wand movement is a sharp, narrow arrow to the right, like this," and she demonstrated a few times, her back partly turned away from the class so they could all see it from the correct angle she was casting it in. "So, then, putting it all together..." Flamsteed got another big grin as she flicked her wand in a narrow arrow pointing to the right, directed at the professor, "Rictusempra!"

She was a LITTLE sorry. But not a lot. Hehe.

So......they were suppose to teach the class basically? Using Professor Flamsteed as an example. Yeah, she wasn't so sure about this. What if he wasn't fast enough and someone hurt him? Then what would Gryffindor house do with Professor Romanos off to parts unknown? Then again, they were suppose to be proficient at these spells. If people didn't get overexcited and chose each other's spells, this could work out well. Then again, some of her classmates were jerks so......

Anyway, Heather chose one that know one else had said, or so she'd heard, anyway. Confundo. She stepped up to the front of the class and cleared her throat. To say she was nervous about this was an understatement. Because, yeah, professor's didn't typically ask them to stand up and demonstrate. Gulp.

And throat clearing again. "Um, yeah. So the spell I'm going to be showing you today is the Confundus Charm." Everyone got that? Notes being taken? She hoped so. And hopefully she wasn't stepping on Professor Quigley's toes either, since this was really his subject. "If done correctly, this spell will cause your opponent to become confused, befuddled and this confusion could cause the person to become prone to following instructions without thought. So it's not something to be used lightly." Seriously folks, not unless it was a matter of life or death. Or pranking, because that would be kind of funny.

"Okay, the wand movement for this spell is to move your wand in a hook motion," which Heather demonstrated here, "like so. The incantion is 'Confundo'. That's con-FUN-doh." And here came the part she was most nervous about. Using the spell on Professor Flamsteed. "So......Professor Flamsteed if you're ready......." Gulp.

Heather took a deep breath and aimed. "Confundo!" Perfect hook motion. MEEP.

Oh, how we drift away from our friends. And the ones back home play remember when

Cilla very timidly made her way to the front of the class. "Hello. My name's Cilla Ashcroft and I'm a Third Year Slytherin. I am going to teach you the Shield Charm which is useful in protecting against spells and weapons such as centaur arrows. However, it won't protect against the Killing Curse"

She raised her wand. "The wand movement is a simple vertical slash motion like so..." Cilla moved her wand in a quick vertical slash. "The incantation is 'Protego' which is pronounced 'pro-TAY-goh'."

Cilla then turned to face Professor Flamsteed and inhaled. She performed the wand movement she had just taught her fellow students as she said "Protego!" Hopefully, it would protect her against any spells that Flamsteed cast at her.

...They had to do the spell on FLAMSTEED?

Nope. Nope. Nope. Lux was not down for this because that man was one of the people she admired. In fact he had been on the list she did for Arithmancy last term along with Bay (obviously) and Culloden.

Scanning the list, she figured that the least she could do was perform a spell that was pretty harmless while still being effective. As her eyes landed on Expelliarmus she smiled. It as perfect because knowing how to disarm an opponent was very helpful. Yaaaay, she wouldn't have to be mean to Flammy.

Excitedly she headed up to the front with her wand in hand so that she could do her little demonstration. BEAMS FOR YOU ALL. "Hello. I will be demonstrating the disarming spell, which basically disarms the target of whatever they are holding at the time - such as a wand or weapon. It's a useful spell in duelling among other things." Hopefully she had their attention even though this was a spell everyone should already know; a refresher was always a good thing. "The incantation is Expelliarmus and the wand movement looks kind of like a slanted 'b' that has a swirl at the end."

With that out of the way, Lux turned her focus to Professor Flamsteed so that she could demonstrate. With her wand she drew the swirly and slanted 'b' in the air. "Expelliarmus!"

Wait so they needed to perform a charm on Flamsteed? Well some of them would be slightly dangerous. He scanned the whole list and saw he would choose Diffindo. He grinned and knew this would be fun. He might do it to the side or maybe on a piece of a board because he loves casting Diffindo. Now he needed to preform it in front of the class? Welp let's do this. He got up from his seat and went next.

He waved to the whole class and gulped. He hated public speaking. "Hi I am Kace Lecium...as some of you may know...and I will be performing the severing charm Diffindo. I am not going to do it on Professor Airey obviously because it would cause him pain. I am going to do it on this desk here..." he pointed to it near him and away from other students. "Don't worry headmistress I will repair it after.." he assured her. He got his wand at the ready and performed the charm with his wand movement of a down and up and a little flick on the end and said, "DIFFINDO!"

Then he saw the desk crack right in front of him. Huhh....success! He grinned to himself and wondered what the headmistress thought.

Ahem. Anyway. "I'm going to demonstrate, uh, the stunning spell." She coughed into her elbow out of nerves, then spoke louder. "The incantation is Stupefy, stew-pah-fie, and the wand movement is kind of a flick-slash-thrust." She pointed her wand at Flamsteed. This felt very, very wrong.

"Stupefy!"

Okay... what was sucky was that the Headmistress didn't answer his question. But then again, most of the Professors didn't... so... no difference, right? Boo.

On the plus side, DEMONSTRATIONS!

Zeke was VERY attentive as the others got up and demonstrated their charm or spell or... jinx or... yeah ALL THAT STUFF.

But... was it his turn now?!

Zeke jumped out of his seat at the opportunity, wand in hand and stepped up to the front. BIG GRIN and WAVES at Professor Airey. Heheeee.

"Hi all, I'm Zeke... demonstrating Bombarda which is the Blasting Curse, which basically blows up whatever you aim at," he started, tapping his wand against his palm as he spoke. He was SO looking forward to this. "Head Girl Cambridge taught me this one last year, and it's super easy once you get your aiming right," he added conversationally at first. "The incantation is bomb-bar-da... bombarda, and the wand movement is a point at whatever it is you want to blow up." Ahem. Sorry Professor Airey!!!!!

"Like so...."

And position!!!!... Quick clear of the throat. "Bombarda!" he stated clearly, wand pointing to Airey.

Default Duro
Lovely™ | Captain Hurted | Ariana's Bane | Resident Antagonist | Unparalleled Delight

Cast a spell ON Flamsteed? Toby's eyes flicked to the man and he automatically felt real sorry for him. He was really gonna cop it in this lesson, wasn't he, having to shield OR let all these spells hit him? Toby didn't want to make the guy's life more difficult or anything, so he was tempted to try and sit this one out, but as an older student it felt right that he should be one of the volunteers or something. And by the way, he was side-eyeing Soph for her own choice of spell. Always with the tickling.

He scanned the list of spells in his notes, eventually deciding on one that seemed like the best fit. He offered himself up for a volunteer and then went up to the front when it was his turn.

"Uh, okay, so... I'm gonna cast Duro, the Hardening Charm," he said to the room at large. "The wand movement is this sort of... upward line, and then a curve back down-" he paused to demonstrate "-almost like you're writing the letter D, but quite finishing it. The incantation is Duro, of course, and what it does is turns the target into stone." Toby glanced briefly at Flamsteed, then the Headmistress, then the class again. "Okay," he said, more to himself than anyone else.

He turned to Airey and held up his wand, looking him up and down, chewing on his lip in indecision. Now would be a really bad time to have one of those fire mishaps, because he wasn't sure if it was a spell that would be shielded.

"Duro!" Toby cast suddenly, pointing his wand at Airey's shoes and doing that incomplete letter D wand movement. He focused HARD on on trying to just turn the shoes to stone, and not Airey's actual feet. He tried, at least. It would be cool if he managed to get the floor too, and sort of trap him in place, feet melded to floor. Even if he didn't this method would stop or at least slow someone in their tracks. Difficult to charge at people or prance around in a duel if you were weighed down by stone shoes. If anything, it was a distraction.

Speaking of distractions, Toby tried not to let his focus wander. He made sure to be prepared, as Truebridge had said.

A path is not simply for walking, its purpose lies in moving forward and improving oneself.

They could use spells on the Astronomy Professor? ASDGHALJGAL HOW COOL WAS THAT?! And this was it! This was his time of REAL revenge! Getting his hat stolen in his first year, which he STILL didn't have back. Then getting ATTACKED at the professor's door FOR NOTHING and later being HUMILIATED at the dueling arena. Yeah...revenge.

He got up from his seat and walked to the front to be one of the volunteers. "So if you don't know who i am by now, you have a serious problem" so no introduction from him. "The spell i'll be demonstrating is Glacius which is a freezing charm" he said as he grabbed his phoenix feather wand. "This spell can be used to freeze objects or water" obviously "But it can also be used as both an offensive and defensive spell, offensive in the way that the person hit will be freezing cold and it probably hurts...a lot" he grinned at the last part "And defensive if you want to buy some time to get away" As much as he disliked Professor's he kinda liked standing up here. "The wand movement is simply pointing your wand at your target" with a fast motion he had pointed his wand at his Head of House, his eyes twinkling with joy. Was he going to freak out like the Headmistress had done in the Chamber of Secrets? Probably not, but the fact that he could USE magic on a Professor and NOT risk detention was amazing and he was loving it. "I'll be demonstrating the spell on the floor..." LIAR

He pointed his wand at the man's feet and he wasn't even going to ask if the professor was ready, no hint was given at all. Then, when he was ready, he suddenly pointed the wand higher "Glacius!" Blue light flew towards his chest instead of the ground.

Muwahahaha!

Having folded his arms across his chest, the astronomer leaned his back against the wall as the lesson progressed. The hardest part thus far? Not laughing at Miss McGee's question towards the woman. Sweet solstice. HE didn't even call the woman by her first name! Perhaps the only one on staff that didn't do that now that he thought about it. Interesting...

"HUH?" he gawked when he heard his name called, his legs turning inward briefly as the professor went complete deer in headlights mode.

What? Him? Go? Her? Spells? Him? WHAT?!

Eyes unable to blink and mouth unable to close, the man's body moved on its own towards the woman as she continued to explain the activity to the students.

Spells...they were going to shoot spells at HIM. Sweet solstice. SWEEEEEET SOLSTICE... couldn't they use dummies for this?!

Wait...was the Headmistress implying that he WAS a dummy? He shot her a feeble look as she concluded. Yes. Yes she was. Again.

Forced confidence on his face, he offered her a subtle salute while his wand twirled between his fingers. "....roger that..."

Sweet solstice.
SPOILER!!: Austin; Tarantallegra

So...SO....SO SO SO SO........he was supposed to let some of these actually HIT him, right? Meaning that in a split second he was supposed to decide whether or not to protect himself or allow himself to be smacked with...whatever.

Was this woman aware of how incredibly FREAKED out he was right now? DID SHE?

Thankfully, the introduction the Ravenclaw gave was more than enough for him to figure all that out. Tarantallegra wasn't too terrible...and he always did consider himself a fair dancer. Had held dance lessons and everything!

The moment the spell hit, the astronomer's legs tangled and untangled with each other in some sort of ridiculous break dance mixed with River Dance fashion. But, the man was all smiles as he moved. "Weeeeeeeeeell done, Mr. Moore," he nodded, his wand pointing down at his legs and the spell stopped.

Phew. One down. This may not be so bad...

SPOILER!!: Norah; Diminuendo

DID SHEEE?

Doing a few lunges to each side to stretch his legs a bit after all that, he suddenly stood at attention when the Hufflepuff announced which spell she would be performing. Woah there...he, ahem, couldn't have things shrinking...

Or have his entire body shrink. He was convinced that the Headmistress would step on him with her expensive heels.

Having every intention of deflecting the spell, the astronomer second guessed himself and - in a lame attempt to lighten the mood of the room - ducked down a little so the spell hit him square in the face rather than his chest. Instantly, the man's head shrunk down and may have seemed to have disappeared to those standing farthest back. But it was still very much there. Nestled between his now massive looking shoulders.

"WELL DONE, MISS KITTREDGE!" came a high pitched squeaky voice.

SPOILER!!: Adi; Impedimenta

Taking the opportunity to return his tiny head to its usual size as Mr. Rehman spoke. Impediment Jinx. Alright. He supposed that one was alright as well...

Head back to normal size, Airey took the next spell like a man as well and seemed to freeze in place. However, after a few moments, his arm sloooooooooooowly began to lift so that he could slooooooooooooooowly ball the fingers on his right hand into a fist and then slooooooooooooowly lift his thumb to give the Hufflepuff prefect a thumbs up.

Now...to sloooooooooowly remove the hex...
SPOILER!!: Sophie; Rictusempra

Hehe.

TOO FAST, MISS BROWN! TOO FAST TOO FAST TOOOOOOO FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST!

The astronomer had yet to remove the previous hex, due to his slow movement, as the Ravenclaw began to speak. His eyes sloooooooowly widened and his lips began to form the word 'NO' as she turned towards him with that BIG ol' cheeky grin of hers. He didn't even have time to narrow his eyes at her thanks to SOMEPUFF and he had JUST barely removed the hex when Miss Brown's spell hit him square in the chest.

Collapsing to the floor with a dull thud, he began to roll back and forth while hugging his stomach. "HEEE HEEE HEEE HOO HOO HOO OOOOOOOOOOH HOHOHOOOOO HEE HEE HEEEEEEEE."

Rolling rolling rolling.
SPOILER!!: Heather; Confundus

MEEP.

Having somehow managed to remove Miss Brown's spell as he went rolling about the room roaring with laughter, the Astronomy professor paused to catch his breath as Miss....oh sweet solstice he wasn't even going to attempt to think her name at the moment. Too exhausted from all the laughing. But as ...er...the Gryffindor went on about her spell. Another, um, seemingly harmless one that he COULD let hit him as well...but surely he was allowed a pass after having suffered through several already, yes?

Will an exhausted wave of his wand, the professor shielded himself from the spell but did give her a quick round of applause. "Well done..." Fudgesticks. Now he HAD to say her name. "Miss ............... Xanthopoulos. I am sure, had your spell hit, we would have all had another good laugh at my expense."

OH GOODIE! This one he would let hit him. Save him some energy from the next spell that came his way as well. YIPEE!

Saluting the Slytherin as her spell gave him temporary protection, he waited for the next student to have their turn.

"Excellent, Miss Ashcroft."

SPOILER!!: Lux; Expelliarmus

Nope. Nope.

Meeeeeeeeerlin was he glad that chasing down his wand would NOT be something he would have to do! Watching with a temporary peacefulness as Miss Carrington's spell hit his Shield Charm, he gave the Hufflepuff a polite golf clap after tucking his wand under his arm.

"Stellar, Miss Carrington. Had it not been for the Shield Charm just cast by your classmate," he said, winking at the Slytherin. "I surely would have been on all fours crawling after my wand."

SPOILER!!: Kace; Diffindo

WHAT?!

Not knowing where or WHAT to protect, the astronomer's arms went flailing about dramatically all over himself until....the Hufflepuff pointed his spell at a desk. At school property.

...

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer....uh oh?

"I hope you also know how to repair that, Mr. Lecium," the astronomer said with an anxious wave towards the desk. "Damaging school property is a biiiiiiiiiiiiig no no."

Ahem.

"Stupefy!"

Stunning Spell. Oh goodie.

Bracing for impact - because this WAS the sort of spell that students should see the outcome of - the astronomer was a bit surprised to find that he had not been knocked back at all. Neither had he fallen back on to his back. What HAD happened, however, was that his left arm had gone completely numb and thus his shoulders were slouching a bit. Actually...WOAH THERE! His left leg numb as well, the professor slipped on to his right knee and nearly DID fall on to his side.

"Good, Miss McAlistor. But remember...you must have clear intent and vision when casting spells or else the desired effect will not occur." As was seen right now.
SPOILER!!: Zeke; Bombarda

"Bombarda!" he stated clearly, wand pointing to Airey.

.......................of course Miss Cambridge taught him this one. OF COURSE.

After fixing his left side, Airey most DEFINITELY deflected that spell. Certainly did not fancy having the ground where he stood turn into a crater without an asteroid. There was no telling if the second year's spell could have REALLY done much...but really. Mr. Zeke? You actually WANTED to blow up your Head of House?

Wasn't that more of a thought worthy of Mr. Hirase?

"Interesting choice...Mr. Zeke..."

STARE.

"....goodjob."

SPOILER!!: Toby; Duro

Airey eyes widened as Mr. Tempus pointed his wand towards his.......oh wait his feet. Okay. That he could handle. Yup.

Watching as the spell struck his shoes, it took a moment or two for it to have its full effect and, for the most part, was successful. The Astronomy professor's shoes hardened and turned to stone from the tips of the toes to about where the bridge of the man's foot was. If he had worn his loafers - which he NEVER did with a suit...but this was entirely hypothetically speaking anyway - he may have been able to slip his feet out from their stone prison. But...alas. He could not thanks to the shoe laces also turning to stone.

"Well done, Mr. Tempus," he saluted the boy.

SPOILER!!: Kevin; Glacius

Muwahahaha!

Yup. That was just about the reaction he had expected from Mr. Hirase. Pity that the boy STILL had learned nothing about his behavior and overall attitude.

Feeling a bit smug, since Mr. Tempus had just provided the perfect sort of protection against slipping now that his feet were stuck to the floor, the professor ALMOST began to casually twirl his wand between his fingers. Almost...because he SAW that glimmer in Mr. Hirase's eye and KNEW better than to get complacent with Gryffindors. Especially one with such a forced rebellious nature.

HAHA! He called it.

Easily deflecting the spell that went directly at him, Airey's eyes narrowed at the boy. "I do believe you are in need of glasses, Mr. Hirase," he said, entirely unamused. "The floor is down THERE...not up here." Cue some pointing at the ground.

Wand pointed at his rocky shoes - shoes that somewhat reminded him of Pebbles - he looked towards the class. Who was next? Still plenty of spells to go through!

Angel listened to the headmistress speak, she was really upset now, she didn't want to hurt her head of house... he was nice and had always been there when she was upset and now the headmistress was basically using him as a dummy.

Angel looked at Professor Flamsteed and gave him an apologetic look as she turned the face the class. "Hello everyone as some people might know, I'm Angel Valentine." Angel smiled. "I'm going to demonstrate Immobulus, Immobulus is the freezing charm... it stops the target from moving which is great as if you need to, it gives you time to run."

Angel now had to demonstrate the spell, Angel was a bit scared about getting it wrong... so she decided that she would count to 10 before she started the demonstration.

Angel pointed her wand at Flamsteed and concentrated as hard as she could on the spell. "ih-MOH-byoo-luhs!" Angel did the wand movement as she said the incantation... this was going to be so amazing and she hoped that things were going to go great though she did feel sorry for the poor man.

Was it really okay to try these spells on on Professor Airey because what if he misses with a defensive spell. Sure it would be funny for like the first time but after that it would just be weird and somewhat bullying. But whatever. Not his problem.

Well since Headmistress said it was alright Dante would do it with the one spell he said he was proficient at. Making fire.

Dante got up and pointed his wand at Professor Airey. Well here goes nothing, Professor. He hoped Airey would block it because he did not want him being set on fire. Especially with the nice clothes he usually wears.

"Incendio"

Dante cast right at Professor Airey's chest.

Margo was sad, she didn't know how to use any of thse spells really. And the few that she had tried she wasn't profient at them yet. Oh man, his was turning out to be the worst lesson ever. She had never felt so little and stupid before now. Ugh.....face plam! So sitting quietly with her quill at the ready Margo was looking at her fellow students.

She was hoping and praying that they would be able to teach her something, anything. Margo could do some of these spells, she had at least tried some of them. Bu she was feeling brave, Maybe, just Maybe she could give the Reducto spell a whirl. She was pretty good at it, right?

So marching up toward the other Professor, Margo pulled her wand at the ready and smiled. "The spell I want to show you is the reducto spell, it's used to smash about objects, sometimes, they break up so much what's left is just a pile of ashes.!" Margo said, smiling trying to think of everything she knew about the spell. So with out further ado. "Reducto" Margo nearly shouted and watched with her eyes half closed, waiting to see what the Professor was going to do.

Hady watched her fellow classmates preform the spell of their choice on their Professor with a clear look of indifference. She hadn't made a sound until it was her turn in which she set down her quill and made her way to the front of the room.

She really wanted to try one of the much harder spells she hadn't tried before but it probably wasn't the best idea right this moment. If it didn't work then she'd look stupid and anger the Headmistress further...but if she did manage it then she'd appear as a showoff. So yeah better not do that...

Mentally working through the spells in her mind she went with one she knew she could handle. She was ready...

"I'm Hady, though I think most of you already know that. The spell I'm going to show you today is levicorpus and it's pronounced as LEV-i-KOR-pəs. The wand movement is simple with just a point at your target and an upwards flick. If done correctly it should cause your opponent to hang upside down by their ankle." The small brunette explained to the best of her knowledge. Now to give this a try.

Without further ado Hady turned towards Professor Flamsteed. Taking a deep breath and letting it out slowly she held her wand firmly in her hand as she pointed it at her Professors feet or well one foot really. "Levicorpus!" she recited clearly with all her focus and intent set on making her Professor hang upside by his ankle while flicking her wand upwards at the same time.

Did it work?
